Russel Crowe talking about his choice to play a gay man, right after his first big role as a nazi in romper stomper to immediately repel any nazis who might have become a fan of him because of that film:
source (X)
this is him in the movie btw and it's really so incredible! I've never seen anything like it and the central friendship between father and son is incredible! if you're put off by the crude language i'd still encourage to watch till the end.
(spoilers: it's not a happy ending per se but a very human one and at least the queer romance ends with a happy outlook on the future.)
you can watch it on youtube for free :)

“The United States is, in many ways, the problem. We are the biggest carbon polluter in history, but we have one of the biggest and strongest politically powerful factions opposed to taking action to prevent catastrophic climate change. In our peer countries, the politically conservative parties draw contrast with the center and left by advocating for corporate climate solutions over government regulations. Only in the United States does our conservative party, with very few exceptions, flat out deny that there’s a problem. The opposition of the American conservative movement is the primary reason the United States has not taken stronger legislative action to reduce green house gases. Our inaction is one of the main reasons the world has continued to warm. In short, the loss of human and animal habitats that we are already experiencing is in no small part due to the American conservative political faction. And that political faction is almost entirely white.”
