The tears that painted my face when I realized that Bill and Frank got to live 16 years with each other with no judgement, no fear of homophobia and they got to die together on their own terms, not taken away from each other cruelly and I’m glad that the team decided to throw out the “one person in gay couple tragically dies while the other has to suffer the loss”

okay so i'm not trying to make this a ~thing~ or a hot take or whatever, but can we talk about how all the hyped up queer shows still predominantly feature mlm couples? i'm not saying there aren't wlw shows/movies or the mlm-focused shows don't also feature wlw characters/couples, just... they either get nowhere near the same amount of hype, have some other main plot, end with at least one of them dying or experiencing something traumatic, get cancelled after one season in the middle of their arc, or they're not the main couple. And that's not to discount the representation you can get from secondary characters of course but just... ugh I want a heartstopper or rwrb or young royals or skam or love, simon or i don't even know... with girls. And I know I'm not the first person to bring this up and I know it's not that simple, but seeing all the hype for heartstopper and rwrb this week makes my heart ache a little bit so i needed to say this somewhere.

it’s so poetic to me that bill and frank found each other at what seemed like the end of the world to everybody. but to them, they found happiness within that same place of chaos and horror. no laws, no regulations barring them from loving each other as authentically as they could (the first state to legalize gay marriage wasn’t until 2004). how beautiful is it to see that they weren’t scared of dying from the infected or raiders, but rather they were scared of getting older because that meant sickness and eventual death, meaning one would have to live without the other. how wonderful is it to see that they not only survived the AIDS epidemic, had to live through the rampant homophobia of the 80s/90s/2000s, and had to live in a time where their love wasn’t legal—that in the post-apocalypse they were actually able to catch a break and finally be themselves. in a world where there’s no laws, they could be free.

All these years Henry has been pining for a dream image of Dean from back then. This is also the story of Pike Dexter, the shy, unassuming owner of the town's general store, who is as surprised as anyone to find himself falling in love with Henry. The people of Big Eden conspire and attempt to bring Henry and Pike together. (link in title)

Friendly reminder
My dad, who was born in the sixties, did typical teenager fashion and snuck out of his parents house to see a midnight showing with his friends.
That was The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Now that same man is the one to help me make doctor appointments, to see if insurance will cover my future top surgery

i just watched it and I can't believe the 1985 movie Enemy Mine isn't more popular on Tumblr. it's what you freaks live for.
it seems like a normal alien movie at first but it gets wild. it's about a human and a member of the alien species humans are at war with getting stranded together on a deserted planet and overcoming their differences.
it's also contains...
an enemies to friends to partners storyline
intersex and nonbinary aliens, as well as other cool alien life
feral single fathers
commentary on discrimination (especially ethnic and racial) and colonisation
mikey mouse as humanity's supreme scholar
and last but DEFINITELY not least...
canon mpreg
please go watch it. now. it is for the queers and the monsterfuckers and we need to revive it. the gay stuff is technically not canonical but it is sure close to it.

PLEASE I BEG YOU

I don't understand why Please like me is so unpopular show because it's the one of the best gay shows ever.
Please like me has:
- how a family accepts their child's sexual identity (it was so cute)
- mental illness
- feminism
- gays, many gays (and lesbians too)
- a lot of food
- really great humour and cool funny stories
- drama that touches your heart
Also Josh Thomas, who was simultaneously an actor, director, executive producer and screenwriter, has autism and ADHD as well as his character has it too.
It is also an autobiographical series that Josh Thomas decided to make after his mother tried to kill herself.
If you haven't watched this show yet, I highly recommend to do it.

きのう何食べた? | WHAT DID YOU EAT YESTERDAY? (2021) dir. Kazuhito Nakae Kakei Shiro is a 45-year-old lawyer who works at a small law firm. He is good at cooking and a meticulous and thrifty person who keeps the monthly food budget to 25,000 yen. Shiro’s daily routine is to leave work on time and head to a discount supermarket nearby. His partner Yabuki Kenji is an affable hairdresser also in his 40s. They share a two-bedroom apartment and the finer points of two men living together come up at the dining table every day. Although two of them have been in a relationship for three years and Shiro's parents know of his sexuality, he never shares the fact that he is gay or Kenji is his partner to anyone. Based on the manga and series of the same name. (link in title)
