I simply should be able to remove all of my bones and ligaments for cleaning and refurbishment, as if I were a very old clock being brought into The Repair Shop (TM).

We are honoured to share a very special episode of The Repair Shop highlighting the importance of heritage crafts with the former Prince of Wales, coming soon to BBC One. We visited him and his team at Dumfries House in Autumn 2021 to see The Prince's Foundation Building Craft Programme. Here's a little sneak peek. The Repair Shop Centenary Special. Wednesday 26th October at 8pm on BBC One. © The Repair Shop

Watched the thing about the Furniture Guy from The Repair Shop tv show learning to read at 51.
Amazed that he scammed his way into uni age 30 and graduated with criminology and philosophy the most wordy of subjects without being able to do the textbook reading.
Holy shit that took some guts, what an absolute madlad (affectionate).
I wish we had resources for teaching adults how to read in aotearoa. I hope the guy who asked our local library for lessons and advice was able to see this, I hope he was able to find someone to teach him.

Repair Shop anon here, and yes they do film at the Museum! Pretty sure it's all done there, they have the barn for filming about 8-9 months of the year for 5 days a week (sometimes weekends too) so it's pretty intensive. They're only not there over the winter months, just because it's a very old, very cold barn 😅 not all the experts are on site every day though, just as and when they're needed. pretty sure that the BBC pay for all materials and repairs too, which is nice of them!
That’s wonderful. Thank you! 😊

It’s interesting how items becomes heirlooms. It’s not that it’s special it’s that people of each generation just have to care enought to keep it. It’s different. I’m not having kids so I’m thinking about my mom’s stuff and the stuff she has and I’ll get that will go to my nephew.
I’m stoned watching The Repair Shop

The Repair Shop was already my ultimate comfort show but now that they’ve made an effort to have more diverse clients on in the new series it’s even better, like yes obviously it should’ve been like this all along but for a show that was obviously made for old white cis hetero able-bodied English folks it’s really noticeable that they’ve got more people of colour on, queer people, lots of Welsh people, disabled folks... they had a hard-of-hearing person on and they all learnt sign language to communicate with him... they had a trans man on who wanted them to repair his comfort teddy who’d been with him during his first hormone injection... basically I’m three episodes into season 8 and I’ve been in a flood of tears for each one

So in the hullabaloo about the HBO Max purge, it escaped the Internet’s notice that “The Repair Shop” which Discovery+ made such a big fuss about acquiring last December was taken off sometime in the last 2 weeks. Why did Discovery+ do this you ask? Heaven only knows! 😔
