Sometimes I sit back and remember just how GOOD Link Click is as a story. Excellent plot? Check. Compelling themes? Yep. Characters well built that you can root for? Obviously. Deaths that do actually mean something? Yeah. Multiple kinds of relationships that colour the narrative? Yes, and it hurts us all. Banger soundtrack? Both the lyrics-based music AND the BG music. Incredible animation? We have that too. Balance of light and dark moments? Again, yes, and it hurts us all. Balance of show and tell? YES, EPISODE 9 S2. Supporting characters and antagonists who obviously exist as their own people even if the stories revolve around our three protags? Mhmm. Symbolism spun to deal max damage? We're still recovering from that

It's just Link Click is SUCH a well-written piece of media and I'm not ready for what happens in s3 but at the same time can't wait

No Name on the Bullet was so good (so good!), breath of fresh air the fandom needed! I know you don't have anything in the works atm, but do you think you might write more trigun fanfic in the future? I'd totally understand if not but I would be so excited to see what else you might come up with.

I am truly sorry about this one, but I think I've said what I wanted to say. There's definitely Trigun stuff I'd like to do - finish up this one short story, write canon!Vash to prove that I can - but for the most part I'm satisfied with the Trigun I've written. There's things to say about the themes and message of Trigun, and I said them in a way that satisfies me.

I know it's a small handful of people out there who are writing non-ship, long, and robust Trigun stories, so I am. Indeed very sorry about this. Sometimes I feel as if so many Trigun writers are so uninterested in Trigun itself. What I wrote had like 10% to actually do with Trigun so maybe I also fall under this umbrella but imho it's more important to keep the spirit than the shape.

Maybe when/if I finally get around to reading TriMax....?? But don't expect anything soon. An ORV fic is definitely next and baby if I don't pull out all of the stops on weirdness I am disrespecting ORV's considerable efforts towards being as weird as possible.

really want a tv show to be funny and likeable but not necessarily memorable, just run-of-the-mill, like scrubs or something so in general it does well, and at the end of every episode they have bloopers, outtakes, tours of the set, and sometimes more in depth details of behind the scenes decisions and work so you really get to know what the actors are like and you see them goof around but gradually these outtakes get stranger and stranger, with cast members acting erratically and referencing strange instances on set or in their lives... and eventually, some cast members completely disappearing not only from bloopers but the show entirely, and even strange things seen during the show, even though the actors either don't see it or ignore it, like cups with strange residue left in the shot, or a bloodstain can be glimpsed behind a curtain, until the last episode's outtake shows a completely abandoned set, equipment still strewn about as if they left in a hurry, and more visible bloodstains

This ask filled me with an unfathomable amount of excitement, but it also made me laugh really, really hard, because while I would never say it's wrong to call omniscient reader's viewpoint an "asian BL novel," it's kind of like... Hm. Hindu trying to think of a sufficiently funny joke about the bible here and failing. Basically: yeah, that's in there, but holy shit are you both underselling and underestimating it by saying that :)

I've answered questions about orv tons of times (see my best attempt here), but I am quite literally always happy to do so again!! I'll start with this: Since we're both tma fans, I think you are going to LOVE the apocalypse orv presents, especially its tragic themes on voyeurism and privacy and silent bystanders/watchers, self-sacrifice and suicide, and women who kill. You are also going to love kim dokja for his brand of sopping-wet pathetic bisexuality, but that was a given.

Orv is technically brilliant-- it renders its themes unto you like an obsidian knife-- but it's also INCREDIBLY funny, and although it has a convoluted timeline and a complex plot, it WILL hold your hand as you go through it. Its characters are so three-dimensional they literally jump off the page (how's that for a meta joke), and they WILL live in your brain forever after reading the novel. They're inescapable. And on that subject: YES, ORV WILL MAKE YOU CRY. It made me cry while I was reading it for the first time, multiple times, and it still makes me cry! Almost weekly! And I do not cry at things!!! This book fucks you up so so bad and you will kiss its feet and thank it for the privilege!!!

I really hope that makes sense, I have so much I want to and could say and absolutely no way to express it coherently, I just hope this is sufficient to keep you interested!! Thanks so much for the ask, I hope you're doing great!!!! 💜💜💜

Im thankful for what we have here, and i do hope to come back with a new competition eventually, maybe next year depending how long of a break ill need.

Three ships: shipping is generally about wanting to see characters in a relationship, but everything I do usually is already canon or I like seeing their journey to that without actually wanting to see them be together. That being said I don’t tend to like mushy stuff, I tend to like the more complicated ships because again, it isn’t about the ship or dating, it’s about character exploration and development. I’ll take a good “hmmm. No. You aren’t allowed to like me. Surely I can convince you other wise with combat.” Over baby I love you soooooo much everyone else is on hold about this. Time for what tma entites I think orv characters are aligned with! Spoilers for orv and possibly tma too.

So starting off with our main boi:

Kim Dokja himself. I'm going to have to give him a strong death/the end alignment. The eye could be argued I suppose what with all his knowledge and 'mind reading', but i just feel like the end connection is stronger. Hes expierenced death and rebirth in more ways than just the literal sense too, he first died when his mother 'killed' his father and he was left behind in the wake of that death. And then again when he jumped from the roof, living on feeling more as though a ghost than alive. And then ofc all the actual self sacrifice where he comes back, trying to kill od, the 49% of him wasting away in a hospital, another death. Ofc then theres the thousands of deaths and regressions from yjh that kept him alive. Again and again he is surrounded and made up by death and its ultimate refusal to allow him its grasp (much like oliver).

Next! (Note: I will NOT be going in order bc I don't have ideas for everyone yet.)

Lee jihye is an unwilling avatar of the slaughter and I will stand by that. Her sponsor is a war general and she starts the series by having to kill her best friend in order to survive. In the context of being a slaughter avatar, she tries to combat the need for senseless violence by justifying it, by trying it use it to protect others.

Han Sooyoung is an avatar of the web. There are many aspects about her snd her story that involve levels of control or bring up the question of others frew will (she wrote ways of survival, but she wrote it after the fact, but after the fact was also before the fact so then what does that make of yjh and all the others in her story?) Again, im just contextualizing things in context of tma entities, not actual commentary on orv story.

Lee gilyoung. If you know anything about tma u know im giving him the hive/the corruption. Its stereotypical! Its the obvious chioce! Bug boy gets bug fear! But I think its also the right chioce. When lgy was being possibly abused or neglected by his family memeber, he had his bugs. Sound familar? To literally all the hive statements. Its rotting filth but its also there when you have no one and are alone and it will love you when no one else will. And for that love it will consume you.

Jung Heewon is a strong woman who has been hurt before. Because of this she took up a mantel to be the fires of justice. Thats right, we're looking Desolation aligned here. Incongruence with the namesake of lightless flame, her fires offer no mercy. Things were taken and stripped from her before kdj saved her, things she can move on from but can never get back. So she will take away from those who have taken from her, who will take from her. She is the type of avatar that feeds the desolation with her own fear. She is afraid, so afraid of loosing so she will burn it all down until theres no one who can take from her again. I especially like how her judgement time or smthing power starts as out of her control to being in the control of her and kdjc. Bc in either case you cant really say either side is correct. Only that they have the power the decide, and they have always backed her when she wants to use her flames.

Lee Hyunsung. The Burried, or Too Close I Cannot Breathe. You cannot make any decisions deep in the ground, held tight by the earth in what is either a loving or unforgiving brace. Everything down to breathing will be decided for you, there is no room for mistakes or lose. Throughout the story lee hyunsung struggles alot with descion making, he wants to be told what to do, he can follow orders. Hes got a big heart, but hes tough, he can stand his ground and weather it all, just like the earth. I would link the type of avatar lee hyunsung would be to the statement in which a graveyard digger becomes obsessed with burrying himself alive and sleeping. Lee hyunsung could find comfort and saftey in the dirt.

[MAJOR SPOILERS FOR ORV AND TMA]

I JUST. FUCKING REALIZED. THE OTHER FUCKING PARALLELS BETWEEN ORV AND TMA. god the whole thing about the tapes being able to bring about the fears (and possibly jon and martin) into other worlds, and us being able to "access" the tapes (the podcast) meaning that our belief in these things could manifest them in our world.... vs orv sending out the manuscript of kim dokjas story (i.e. the webnovel) to other worlds in the hope that it would be able to manifest the stories and kim dokja back into their world, so us being able to read orv suggests that we are in a world that was given a manuscript.... and BOTH have open endings not letting the reader or listener know if their belief DID actually "bring the characters to life".... MAN i love when stories use their medium to convey the message and the idea that the act of the reader or listener consuming the media MAKES THE CHARACTERS REAL IB SOME WAY.... either in our world or another..... MANNNNNNNN THIS IS WHY I LOVE THESE TWO STORIES SO MUCHHH
