KotE......... I do actually rly enjoy KotE I think it has potential in terms of where it's going. But since I only posted one fic in 2023, I'll do my top 5 of fics I've ever posted. Apart from the first one this is in no particular order

tickertape - The A-Team (TV) it's my baby it's all I thought about for months of my life, it's like an iceberg (i.e. most of it is in my WIP doc, and only a tiny fraction is published so far), it got me thru a difficult time, it's an exploration of mental illness and complicated messy relationships expressed in epic format (i.e. it's probably gonna be novel length when it's done)

Bullet Number Six - Starsky & Hutch (TV) it received criticism for being obscure and hard to follow bc it switches pov briefly halfway thru but idc i love it anyway

I Gotta Right to Sing the Blues - The A-Team (TV) it was my first A-Team fic and I still think for a beginner it nailed some p realistic in-character dialogue and addressed an undertone I wished I'd seen addressed in the ep it's a coda to.

When They Sleep - The Man from UNCLE (TV) it's kind of riddled with certain mannerisms of my slightly older writing which I personally find a bit annoying and have worked to iron out for the sake of elegance over the years. but I still think it's a cool little exploration of all my sleep headcanons for the pair of them in one place

King of the Eyesores - Doctor Who (1963) see it made it to the list after all! I kinda like it more for its potential than for what it is right now butttttt who cares.

special mention to Unbereft (Starsky & Hutch) which I really really like but I wrote it in one frenzied sitting and only remembered after I'd posted it that it was very like someone else's fic I'd read several years previously. I don't think it's too much like to be taken down and I've since mentioned the writer of the other fic (it was dawnwind, hello!) in the notes. that's the only reason unbereft isn't in my top 5 because I'm otherwise really proud of how well it's written. Not to tootle on my own trumpet.

priority 1 is to finish the unfinished works that I've already half posted: King of the Eyesores, Every Line A Comedy, OUTATIME, The Windhover, tickertape, The Hanoi Bank Job and Other Misadventures, 38 Hours. Bolded are my top priorities.

other works that I'm writing but which haven't seen the light of day at all yet:

Dear Mike - an epistolary between Jo Grant and Mike Yates following her marriage to Cliff Jones.

The Lark/Behind That Locked Door (working titles) - a 30-chapter 2/Jamie fic about season 6B in which Jamie suffers permanent memory problems after the War Games. It explores grief, social ostracism, feeling abandoned, undirected anger, guilt, and acceptance that healing sometimes is a process that is never complete. I've been working on it since about 2016 lol but I'm lazy I just need to press on.

hell valley au - as yet untitled lol. In which the Hell Valley!Marty (who is never seen in BTTF2 as he is in Switzerland) and Hell Valley!Doc (who has been institutionalized) break out of their respective situations and go on the run together. But there's a problem - they had to leave Einstein behind, and when they get information that Einie is to be used for a dogfight, they make the risky decision to go back to Hill Valley to rescue him. However, going back to the place they just escaped by the skin of their teeth also brings them face to face with the last person they expect to meet.

a changed man (working title) - a Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) fic from Jeannie's pov. mostly it's about their picnic excursions but it's also about Jeannie wishing Marty wasn't such an elephant in the room

mfu/rahd xover (untitled) - the first chapter of this is almost ready to go tbh. it's what it says on the tin lol, Napoleon and Illya go to London and get help from a rather eccentric private detective who has uncanny powers of solving impossible cases but also they think is probably clinically insane

to see him happy - VERY weird rahd fic. it's smut but its also about grief. might never post it because several of my family members have access to my tumblr and therefore my ao3 lol they dont need to see that

the winter of '62 - a study of jeff and marty's life when they lived together in a grotty bedsit and couldnt afford to put the heating on

star wars (untitled) - set during ROTJ, han pov. han's lost a lot of time and now everyone is one step ahead of him which isn't a sensation he's used to

skyrissian - what it says on the tin lol

the older gen (untitled) - jeeves fic about bertie's aunts and uncles and parents as they were as they variously grew up, got married, had children, died (or didn't), fell prey to alcoholism or insanity or petty crime, went to war, prospered (or didn't)... This is pretty unlikely to be finished this year tbh as it's very detailed but I can dream

a couple of long form fics about starsky & hutch and mfu respectively (the s&h one is set post sweet revenge, the mfu one takes place at various moments throughout the show)

x-files series - canon compliant until paperclip and then gradually diverges into how i think the show should have gone lol. another biggie

and a handful of tintin fics that im protective of and might never post but we'll see - one where tintin and chang go on holiday in london after picaros, one where the gang encounters rajaijah one last time (featuring a letter from didi, chang making a very daring crossing at the songolese border, and tintin taking about ten years to chop up a clove of garlic), and one where tintin gets shitfaced at an embassy ball and accidentally starts an Incident. haddock looks on, appalled.

i knoooooooooooooooowww this is a lot but i'm not realistically hoping to finish it all this year but it's nice to have lots of things to play around with lol.

unfortunately i have the eternal problem of not ever knowing which of my mutuals write fic and which of those havent already been tagged but imma tag @theteaisaddictive and genuinely if u see this and u write fic ur tagged i want to knowwwwwwwwwwwww <333

dude no that's so far (i don't read unfinished things unless its REALLY enticing and im very picky abt my aus.) sskk, for a sskk fic, has also interacted 3-ish times. it's been 40k. tbf there's a lot of set-up ! (atsushi needs to see the circuit, and learn How To Car, and he's gotta get his found family before he can turn his rival into his boyfriend aldskfaldskjflakjd

gin... gin is so cool. retribution gin is just so cool <3

her alias is "burnstrike" (since everyone uses pseudonyms for plausible deniability) and she's always wearing either a mask or a helmet because the circuit is hella misogynistic (i'm writing abt street-racing. so.) and she isn't gonna deal with it. she drives & races a liter motorcycle and she is one of two people brave enough to do so (the other is "bombshell", aka higuchi.). the motorcycle thing is insane because. well. can you imagine pushing all the way up to 160 on a mountain road with a cliff on the other side, a car behind you that wants you off the road, in the dark, with rocks on your other side? and all you have protecting you from hitting the ground at TWICE terminal velocity behind technical skill and a leather jacket and a helmet? yeah. yeah.

she's undefeated and has been for a year, and when atsushi was told he was debuting, he was basically told "yeah, you're gonna lose no matter what, it's just a matter of how badly you lose. you never had a chance against burnstrike." and he didn't.

so in that regard, she's a circuit legend. the only reason she isn't known as the portside's best racer is because she doesn't socialize much, so all of the popularity, in turn, goes to the portside's hot-shot "rashoumon", and gin is happy to have the attention off of her.

44. any writing advice you want to share?

In general I think it's a good idea to think about what a character would actually do in a situation and have them do it, rather than think about what the story needs or what the trope requires and cram the character into that box. But this is a particular kind of writing which not all fic falls into. I much prefer character-realism, whenever possible. A lot of stories, you can tell someone's thought of a joke and they want to put it in, and humorlessly I go but Sam would never think that; or they want the sex scene to go a particular way for porny reasons or even thematic reasons, and horntlessly I go but Dean would never go for that in this moment, also where did the lube come from; or they want a character to have an emotional moment in order to further the plot, and coldly I go John would never express that -- and it's almost never because any of those things are literally impossible for the characters (...Sam's sense of humor perhaps aside), but because the writer hasn't done the supporting work to prove how a character might make such a leap.

All stories are a series of proofs that the writer is engaging with to lead the reader from logical step to logical step. If you skip a bunch of them, I fall down the stairs. And then I'm bruised, and mad, and not paying any attention to your story bc I need an ice pack. So. If you're going to have Sam crack an OOC joke, you'd better have meticulously set up the situation around him so that it follows logically that he will have done so, or I'm limping.

52. how many unfinished ideas/stories are you working on at the same time?

I don't actually pick up and drop stories in rotation, although I've heard that can be a good way to manage writer's block (though I've equally heard that it's a good way to have an endless parade of WIPs that you never actually sack up and finish, so. who's right). That said, doesn't mean that there isn't a sad pile of 'hmm what should I do next, idk, let's think about it for three years' unfinished bois sitting in my fic folder. I did used to think that none of them would ever be done, but given that I managed to finish the genderswap thing with only two paragraphs done ~8 years after the idea, I'm hopeful. It should be a year of finishing.

At the moment there are 8 fics I have an actual start made on and think it's feasible I could finish them. Ideas that haven't actually been started yet: 37.

Forgot to ask you on AO3 last time so gonna do that here. I'm kinda curious how long it takes for you to write a single chapter. And whether you write it in one sitting or partly. Don't feel pressured to answer though ^‐^

Oof that does depend a lot on several reasons, most of those reasons that these:

Daily life

Uni entrance exam studies

Practical hobbies/blogging.

Other SL content: Translating SL:Ragnarok & setting the novel/manwha differences in the blog(which I haven't uploaded this months ;-;)

Tend to take most of my time so I don't usually have a certain hour for when I can write my fics, literally when I DO try to set a schedule all the sudden there is an event which I must assist and must be happening at that same time as when I scheduled another thing. (And I hate that way too much)

But when I do have time, say on weekends or just free time, I write around 1000 to 5000 words easily... BUT that's if I know the plot.

Why I have a lot of unfinished wips is for that reason as well, if I don't have every knowledge from begging to end then I will just get stuck on a lop of inconsistent plotholes and bad writing, which I hate whenever I try to have a reread over it.

For Finish What You Never Started, which I think you might have read it(?) Idk it's the one that I've uploaded most recently so idk if you are coming from that— but yeah at first I could just grind 2 chapters (maybe 8000 words) easily in a day because I didn't tend to think about the plot as much and also because my energy was top notch on it. It was something I was fully engrained in, and still am but considering I have to remember my own notes and writings, my own world building and leave hints here and there to foreshadow a lot of events (both that will come wayyy later and others that will come in the next arc) I've had to often work on one chapter for 5 to 6 days before publishing it. Worse I've gotten was like, working on one chapter for 11 days but that again was because they never gave me a single time to work on.

But this is like medium work. I'd say the one I would often spend a lot of time working on and one that I do want to absolutely polish, even the updated chapters, is: Make a man out of you. Now that one I absolutely took weeks per chapter and then sometimes more days to refine it. But in general it had taken me just a year to find all the information on a specific time and date (sengoku's momoyama period) and even then I still I left it on a hiatus to redesign it again, not completely rewrite it but absolutely to polish the events that will come into place soon enough.... and the hiatus has already been one year 😭😭😭.

So TLDR: pray I have enough serotonin per day bc I know only God knows how long these chapters take.

hi. i haven't been in the trc circles on here long. (ive read the books in my swearing off tumblr era bcs I'm a big girl now.)

so anyway im having my tumblrenaissance .. and im fleshly a ronsey truther.

do you have any fic/hc recommendations?

ok first of all i would say I’m less of a ronsey truther and more of a gangsey polycule truther that happens to include ronsey in the past and/or potentially future, but only as part of the larger polycule or in an au where something drastically changes. overall, the dynamic that i’ve gotten the most attached to over the years is sarchengsey, and so i might not be the best person to go to for ronsey shit. but oh boy do i have some headcanons for them!

personally, i think that they did a lot of “experimenting” when they were younger together, and i can get behind them being one another’s first kiss, and i for SURE think that they were at one point in love and are definitely still a little in love. i think at one point they just kinda got distracted by other people in their lives and their old love for one another grew into something different. but i think they definitely have the potential to become something more again in the future, especially if it also includes their current partners. I’m a big fan of adansey as well and i think adam balances them out pretty well.

my favorite headcanons for them are typically more angsty in nature, mostly due to the fact that pre-trc the two of them are more angsty as people. i really love the idea of them kissing for the first time at niall’s funeral, just because it’s such a fucking train wreck of an idea for them to have. i know everyone says this, but gansey homoerotically giving ronan a buzzcut is like, borderline canon, i think. anything with them driving and not talking about their feelings is truly perfect.

however, my other thing abt ronsey is that they’re mostly kids when there’s any potential for them to be anything, and a lot of people like to write some sexy shit for them. i definitely wrote something kinda spicy for them at one point (well, it was a rodansey fic, but still) when i was younger & didn’t feel as weird about it as i do now, due to the fact that i was approximately the age of the characters i was writing & also underage at the time. but now that I’m a whole ass adult, writing for them at that age feels SO icky unless it’s only about their emotions, even though they are both canonically repressed little horny teenagers whose main way of “being together” pre-their current relationships would most likely be pretty physical in nature.

that said, here are my top 3 favorite fics from when i was more into them:

a satisfactory world for reasonable people by spikenard (this is for sure one of my favorites)

two public high schoolers with magic vs. three magically rich private school boys and a ghost by elliptical (this one is unfinished & more about all of them but still quite good!

1. What's your favourite kind of fic to write.

Probably mutual pining but I've recently realised I have a knack for smut 🤭

2. What fic of your was the hardest to write?

Probably one of the hundreds I left unfinished. I'm undecided between "The Most Precious Thing In The Universe" (DW) and "As long as the sea is bound to wash upon the sand" (mdzs daemon au) which wasn't hard per se but so long it was still harrowing.

3. Which was the easiest?

Maybe one of my DW oneshots.

4. Favourite story you've ever written?

As long as the sea is bound to wash upon the sand, 100%.

5. Do you write from start to finish or do you hop around?

Start to finish. I might only draft some scenes if I fear I could get stuck on them or just I don't want to write them atm.

6. Have you ever deleted a published fic?

No.

7. What's the best writing advice you've ever received?

After you've written your chapter, copy it on a new sheet and type it all over again instead of just correcting it. It will improve 100%.

8. What's the worst?

Do people give bad advice? I think it depends on what works for you.

9. Have you ever collabed with a another writer?

Yes! We wrote a comic crackfic with final fantasy's characters. Soooo many years ago. It was hilarious.

10. How many WIPs do you have right now?

So. TECHNICALLY one, since I'm finishing writing "As long as the sea is bound to wash upon the sand". If we consider two fics I have on hiatus... then three. But I have like 6 plot bunnies running wildly in my head atm.

11. Story you are most proud of?

Maybe "I've hungered for your touch". My first smut. My first fic in English. And a lot of people liked it ❤

12. Favourite story of another author?

I'm going to be here all day!!! There is so many... I'll focus on mdzs fic since I've been reading those lately (bc you have NO idea of the number of fic I've read in my life). Beneath six layers of silk by darkredloveknot; Maybe you're the reason by clearpearls; no new age by everythingispoetry; Survival by jinko. And so much more. There are so many talented author out there 😭

Generally, no.

Finding a way to make the sentences flow smoothly.

Hear me out (not a request just a concept)- a/b/o erasermic/reader where the reader's an omega. One alpha is bad enough, but two?? And maybe she goes into heat for the first time after they rescue (read: kidnap) her while they're both at work and she tries to hide it but the second they walk through the door - they know 👀

I've actually talked a bit about this concept before! Honestly I still think about it, as well as different variants of it, like if you're a neighbor or roommate in their apartment building and they have to deal with you only seeing them as friends and trying to preserve the friendship, as well as wanting to help you when you're clearly struggling with your new identity (and also help you in some other ways too)

I'm a pretty one trick pony when it comes to ABO stuff bc I just... Really like the uses for "never knew I was an XYZ amd I'm now I'm having to cope with these new urges and shit" and also like 😳 abo is a kinkfest and imma use it to jerk off my kinks 😳

Tbh some of the reasons I haven't already done it is because I already have so many unfinished drafts and more by the day, and that all my abo ideas have really similar premises to the All Might fic I did so I don't want people to be bored or get tired of it. Also I already have other erasermic drafts as well as constantly answering concept/headcanons stuff and sometimes a girl needs a little variety you know? *starts eyeing my overhauls drafts*

yeah, I understand you! it's so hard to wait for the update but I'm reading all her anons and it kind of helps me in my suffering... She's my favourite author as well!! (well, I think only ceecee could compare to her) Wiss"s always gonna have a special place in my heart bc my first fic I've ever read in the Skam fandom was "I'm not a baby" and it changed me as a person tbh :') but if you're waiting till fic is finished, does it mean you haven't read iwdia and hiwiwy yet??

hiwiwy is the reason I stopped reading her unfinished fics actually... it GOT TO ME. plus after I finished you don’t even know me I was just like.. I can’t do this again, I already went through the pain with the like, 5 fics she had written before that. (all of which brilliant) so i’ve read up until like chapter 8 or 9, but yeah I haven’t since.

as for I would do it again, I was planning on reading it this weekend actually! there’s only one chapter left so I think i’ll manage.

there are actually quite a handful of authors I adore just as much a wiss, and a couple that while they haven’t written multiple fics within the fandom, there’s still a bunch of stories I would lay my life down for just because they’re so well written.

I think I speak for everyone though when I say its been 84 years and I’m gonna need a tmtts update before I implode pls and thank
