You scream.
You didn't want to.
There's movement the second the sound leaves your mouth, but you can't bear to look. You can't hear, you can't think, as colors and noise instantly overwhelm you. You slip to your knees as the panic begins to take hold.
You shouldn't have done that. You didn't want to. You wanted to talk to Raphaella, you wanted to ask her about your dream, you wanted to ask her about yourself, and instead. You panicked. The sound felt wrong the second you made it. So why did it feel so much like there was nothing else you could do?
You can't wrap your head around it. Why did you scream? It was a fleeting thought. It overwhelmed you into action before you could even think. Why did you scream? It's uncharacteristic of you to act out like this. Why did you scream?
Panic makes you shake, makes your breathing erratic. You can't bring yourself to put in the energy to process anything around you. Shapes, colors, they're all the same. Your breaths are sharp, painfully quick, until all at once it feels like you can't breathe at all.
You feel yourself being lifted off the ground as if you weighed nothing at all. You can't bring yourself to ask her to let you go, even before the hand around your throat leaves your lungs empty and burning. You can't move. You can't think. Do you save yourself? Do you hurt her to do it? Despite everything, you don't want her to come to any harm, even if the nails digging into your neck are sharp as she tightens her grip.
You try to scream again. The only sound that comes out of your mouth is the soft hum of radio static.
Your vision is fading.
You have to choose.
Choose.

Sorry about your boyfriend. The walls began to tear. Not the walls of the train but those of his false and hollow reality. Yeah, he’s twisting in his thrall to yog-sothoth. All the doors are open now. Sorry.

Guess what i spent all of today designing for my mechs game called downtime >:] (lighting WIP)
Apparently, people don't know i have a discord server where i shit post, so imma promote it again. I post about the game there, shitpost about it, argue- and the people in my server actually have the power to decide shit about the game, but apparently, they don't realize that. The link to the server is in my pinned post!

It's the only thing that makes sense. You've been there before, you know what to expect, and at this point you would give anything for a sense of familiarity to rely on. Having made up your mind, you get dressed and leave your room, for the first time in weeks, with a purpose.
You pass a few people on your way there, but your thoughts are too busy worrying about your upcoming trip to really notice them. What if no one is there? What if someone is there, but they don't want to see you? What if something horrible happens like the last time, and everything falls apart, and then they'll kick you off the ship, and-
You find yourself standing at the door to the kitchen. Taking a breath to steady yourself, you shake off your thoughts and step inside.
Your worries about the room being empty are immediately dispelled, as the sound of laughter echoes loudly through the room. The half of the room dedicated to proper kitchen equipment is deserted, but the half consisting of one large table is currently occupied with three people playing what appears to be a simple card game. Two of them look up when you enter.
"Lyf!" It's Marius who speaks first, standing up from his seat the second he sees you. "You actually came!"
You simply nod, trying to think of what to say. The person on the left- Brian- seems surprised at your appearance, but greets you pleasantly. "You look well. It's nice to see you up and about!"
You laugh nervously. "Y-yeah...It's nice to see you too." Was that it? Was that all you had to say? Surely you had something better.
The person in the middle- Tim- hasn't even looked at you. He seems too focused on the cards he's holding in his hand. Marius looks quickly back and forth between you and the cards before running to your side, dragging you to the table. "If you want to, we can deal you in! We just started, it wouldn't be a problem at all."
Unsure of what else to do, you nod again. Brian hands you a small group of cards, and you sit in a seat offered to you by Marius.
You realize too late you didn't ask which game they were even playing.
"You sure you're doing alright?" Marius places his hand on your shoulder, and you hold back a flinch. "I can explain the rules if you-"
"No! No, it's fine." Why were you refusing? You had no idea what you were doing! "I'll figure it out. Maybe...You should go first?"
He laughs, and proceeds to place down a few cards. You follow his lead for a few turns before you begin to relax.
Brian and Tim both seem fairly nice, and you remember that the whole point of this trip was to talk to new people. You can't hide behind Marius forever. But as you continue to copy his movements in placing cards on the table, you begin to grow worried.
