The Most Holy Name of Mary
This Tuesday, like every September 12th, the Catholic Church celebrates the feast day of the Most Holy Name of Mary. And while you might be tempted to think that the Feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary is just another feast day dedicated to Mary, its history is truly noteworthy. The roots of this feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary date back to 1683 in Vienna, Austria, a time when that city faced…

Saint Mark Ji Tianxiang
1834-1900
Feast Day: July 9
Patronage: Drug addicts
Saint Mark Ji Tianxiang, “the Trier" was a Chinese lay Catholic, doctor and drug addict. He became addicted to opium because of a stomach ailment and suffered for 30 years with the addiction. He went to confession regularly to confess his drug use, but because of the priest’s misunderstanding of addiction he would not give Ji absolution because he believed there was no firm purpose of amendment. Although being denied the Sacraments Ji continued going to Mass and stayed steadfast in his faith for 30 years praying to die a martyr. During the Boxer Rebellion (anti-foreign, Christian persecution) he and his family were martyred. He encouraged all in prison to keep the faith throughout their ordeal and sang the litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary as he was about to be beheaded.

Manuscript Monday comes to you with a nearly complete fifteenth-century Book of Hours from the Convent of Santi Giovanni e Paolo in Venice. This manuscript has two sections, the second having been added to the first within a generation of the book's manufacture. The first section of the manuscript (fols. 1-270) contains a standard Italian Dominican Book of Hours with a kalendar, Hours of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Office of the Dead, Penitential psalms, and Short Hours of the Cross. Exceptionally, unusual, however, are the contents of section two, which opens with a rare Office of the Glorious Virgin, followed by two Marian litanies. Such litanies multiplied in the late fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, and these follow the standard pattern of calling on the Virgin by her attributes, as a mother, brides, spouse, intercessor, etc. Learn more about this manuscript at the link below:

Pierre Reymond (1513–after 1584), Plaque: The Litanies of the Blessed Virgin, Limoges, mid-16th century. Enamel on copper, parcel-gilt.
The design of the composition is based on an engraving by Thielman Kerver (act. 1497–1522), published in a book of hours (Heures de la Vierge à l’usage de Rome) in 1505. Under a dark blue background filled with stars, the Virgin Mary on this plaque painted in grisaille is dressed in white, her hands joined in prayer. She is positioned within a thin gold mandorla and surrounded by the Litanies of the Blessed Virgin, prayers consisting of a series of supplications. God is blessing her from above. Numerous symbols associated with the iconography of the Virgin are represented.

Evening Prayer
God of love, I offer you this evening hour. My heart is restless until it rests in you, oh source of all consciousness; enlighten my mind as I meditate upon you.
Prayer of Supplication Beneath your compassion we take refuge, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our petitions in our time of trouble, but rescue us from all dangers, O glorious and blessed virgin.
Wheel of the Year Prayer
link to wheel of the year prayers
Litany: Regina Iustitiae, Oh Queen of Justice, instruct us. Regina Potentissima, Oh Queen Most Powerful, protect us. Regina Tenebrarum, Oh Queen of Darkness, bring us into your mystery. Regina Pacis, Oh Queen of Peace, comfort us. Regina Stellarum, oh Queen of the Stars, illuminate our paths. Regina Mortuorum, Oh Queen of the Dead, support us underfoot. Regina Caeli, Oh Queen of Heaven, we glorify you and praise your holy name.
Prayer to Jesus:  (prayer of St Francis) Lord Jesus, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. Oh Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Closing
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us as we forgive others. Lead us not into separation but deliver us into love.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Child, and to the Holy Mother. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, Amen.

THE DESCRIPTION OF OUR LADY OF THE HOLY ROSARY Feast Day: October 7
In the words of Pope Francis: "The Rosary is a prayer that always accompanies me; it is also the prayer of the ordinary people and the saints... it is a prayer from my heart."
As well as Bl. Bartolo Longo: "Awaken your confidence in the Most Blessed Virgin of the Rosary. Venerable Holy Mother, in You I rest all my troubles, all my trust and all my hope!"
And there is the description for this one - for the Holy Rosary is a matter of love.
The feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary was established in 1571 by Pope St. Pius V, to commemorate the decisive victory of the combined fleet of the Holy League of 1571 over the Ottoman Turks at the Battle of Lepanto. The victory of the Christian fleet over the Ottoman Fleet was attributed to the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose help invoked through prayed the Holy Rosary.
According to a venerable tradition, this beautiful prayer was revealed to the founder of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans), St. Dominic de Guzmán, by the Blessed Mother. The 150 Hail Marys (now 200) corresponded to the number of Psalms, which the illiterate people of that time could not understand. The first part of the Hail Mary was taken from the Holy Gospel of Luke; the second part is from the tradition of the Church.
The 20 mysteries, divided into Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious and Luminous, reflected the principal events of the life of Jesus and Mary. Pope Paul VI said that a rosary without meditation on these mysteries is like a dead person without life.
The litany, taken from the Sanctuary of Loreto in Italy, were added to the rosary in 1592. The Fátima Prayer, which we repeat after every decade, was dictated by the Blessed Virgin Mary to the three visionaries of Fátima in 1917.
Those who consider it monotonous to repeat the same prayer so many times should be reminded that lovers are never tired of repeating the same few words over and over.
These four images here is the vintage and antique image of the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary is owned from a family which spanned from generations.

Historical Myth Justifies Israel’s Golan Heights Occupation Institute for Historical Review
http://www.ihr.org/jhr/v18/v18n5p36_Golan.html For decades Israel has cited vital security concerns to justify its seizure of the Golan Heights. Israelis have claimed that from 1948 to June 1967, Syrian military forces repeatedly used the Heights to shell Jewish settlements and installations below. These artillery bombardments, in the widely accepted Israeli and American view, justified Israel’s conquest of the Heights in 1967, and its occupation ever since. Actually, Israel’s seizure and occupation of this territory is based on a historical lie.
This was frankly acknowledged by IDF General and Israeli cabinet minister Moshe Dayan in an interview given in 1976, but which was not made public until April 1997. On March 3, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued an impassioned plea to Congress to protect Israel by opposing diplomacy with Iran ... He reiterated the claim that Israel acted in the 1967 Six-Day War “to defend itself.” ... Israel relies on that narrative to continue occupying those Palestinian lands ... But declassified high-level documents from Britain, France, Russia and the United States reveal that Egypt, Syria, and Jordan were not going to attack Israel and Israel knew it. In fact, they did not attack Israel. Instead, Israel mounted the first attack in order to decimate the Egyptian army and take the West Bank. December 28, 1968, Beirut. I have realized that my attraction to death and the melancholy even seeps into my religious life.
By far, my favorite part of any service is the last part of the Litany of Supplication/Completion:
---
That we may complete the remaining time of our life in peace and repentance, let us ask of the Lord.
Grant this, O Lord.
A Christian ending to our life, painless, blameless, peaceful; and a good defense before the dread Judgement Seat of Christ, let us ask of the Lord.
Grant this, O Lord.
Calling to remembrance our all-holy, immaculate, most blessed and glorious Lady Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, with all the Saints, let us commend ourselves and each other, and all our life unto Christ our God.
Amen.
---
It is sung at a lower pitch and in the minor key, which makes it very spine chilling to hear in-person.
