I think a good “cost” for magical ability in a fantasy setting is that to replenish your mana reserve, you HAVE to eat mayonnaise (better known as mana-aise)
Furthermore, your mana reserve and magical ability are inversely proportionate to how much you like mayo. If you like mayonnaise and like to eat it by the spoonful, you can’t cast more than a la croix prestidigitation before passing out, but if you absolutely despise it and gag at the mere smell of it? That’s unlimited power baybee!!
bonus points if that society becomes close to Slavic culture because of the importance of mayonnaise alone

Concept idea for D&D:
Players actually have to drink potions, eat Goodberries/Heroes’ Feast, and any other magical consumables their character partakes in.
Obviously said consumables would be enough to justify the action to do so since things like Potions of Healing typically have one use and are chugged.
What the player drinks/eats could be a variety of things that could pass off as the fantasy equivalent at the table. For instance:
Potion of Healing: a nice Arizona Green Tea Goodberries: blueberries (or the favorite small fruit of the player, though something like an ancient shinobi’s hyorogan or other dietary options may fit more mechanically. this is an imagination game.) Potion of Speed: Jager Bomb (a can of Redbull w/ a shot of Jagermeister [or the other way around]) Heroes’ Feast: break time! order/cook something ahead of time that would have been eaten after your session and enjoy some of it!
Of course, not every table is comfortable with alcohol, but don’t let that stop you from using one of those tiny Dr. Pepper cans as a Potion of Speed or a La Croix as a Potion of Invisibility. No shame in just water and some chips by any means.

Counting Moving Targets and Other things I do
I have somehow convinced myself and the world around me that I am an ADULT and I am slightly responsible and it is the biggest mistake ever because now I have to do things like pay taxes and drink La Croix instead of Pepsi.
It is a fate I do not wish upon anyone.
Okay now I make a list of things what are on my mind:
- I want to finish BP before March 2nd because I really don’t want any new canonical things start to influence my plans BUT...
- Realistically I need to eat, sleep, go to work and do math because I’m actually really good at it and I’ve gotten to the point where all the guys on my team have acknowledged that I can just SOLVE THINGS by looking at them.
- (I’m actually fucking loving that I’m better at math and logic than all the guys I work with because I guess the only statistics they care about is Madden: The Gathering aka fantasy football or whatever. Maybe I should learn it just so I can teach them how to balance a fucking inventory count. >_<)
- Also I must watch Drag Race because I have a heart attached to two functional eyes and a brain that recognizes beauty and greatness in the world.
- Those things require me to not have my fingertips clacking away at a keyboard writing fic. Le sigh.
- Time is my enemy and last-minute pressure is addictive. I like the rush of succeeding when I am under that gun. It’s dumb. It’s SO DUMB that I want to make myself crazy.
- (Also March 2nd is my Mom’s bday so I took a vacation day for that reason so I will likely binge the season in the wee early hours and then spend the day with the fam and bring her and my Pops cupcakes so even if I miss out it will be easy to hide from spoilers)
- If anything I want to get the third chapter done tomorrow. I might be able to get a draft of the fourth/fifth done if I really get a good inspiration going this weekend.
- (Let’s not mention the fact that I spent my morning and afternoon commute plotting out a Klance vampire/supernatural creatures AU that I’ve been ruminating on since Halloween but I was too busy and I might just say fuck it and spit that out as a way to trick my brain back into focus.)
- I just want things to fall into place magically and also maybe a nap.

The key to good is found in truth.
Genevieve may have left the circus behind in Oregon, but there is plenty of show still to come.
When she and Henry land in France, they are whisked away to Croix-Mare, the home of Henry’s grandfather, Nutesh, where they will prepare for a journey they never could’ve imagined. Now that they have all three AVRAKEDAVRA texts—Life, Death, and Memory—the books must be destroyed in the Undoing.
However, it’s not as simple as taking the books to their birthplace in Babylon and setting them alight. Genevieve and Henry must rely on unexpected allies as they embark on a harrowing global search to acquire pieces necessary to complete the Undoing. They’re offered cover and protection by La Vérité, the secret network of followers devoted to the message of the AVRAKEDAVRA, who, not surprisingly, are found under the big top—because no one does underground quite like the circus.
But loyalties among the magical community are fragile. Genevieve, still grieving the loss of her mother, now struggles to control the new AVRAKEDAVRA-bestowed gifts, and with mounting threats to her psyche and body, she clings mightily to the promise of a brighter future once this is over—if they can survive it. And Henry, broken by his father’s treachery but entranced by the heartwarming connection his family’s text has granted him, grapples with the fact that once they succeed in destroying the books, he’ll lose the only family he has left.
Together, our two young heirs will learn that when hope has abandoned us, the overwhelming love of friendship and family is all the magic we need.

Delia smiles at the shadow only she sees—
Something slams into her. The lyra whirls like a half-dollar spinning on its edge.
My mother is thrown backward.
And she falls.
Growing up in the Cinzio Traveling Players Company, Genevieve Flannery is accustomed to a life most teenagers could never imagine: daily workouts of extravagant acrobatics; an extended family of clowns; wild animals for pets; and her mother, Delia, whose mind has always been tortured by visions—but whose love Geni never questions. In a world of performers who astonish and amaze on a daily basis, Delia’s ghostly hallucinations never seemed all that strange . . . until the evening Geni and her mother are performing an aerial routine they’ve done hundreds of times, and Delia falls to her death.
That night, a dark curtain in Geni’s life opens. Everything has changed.
Still reeling from the tragedy, the Cinzio Traveling Players are also adjusting to the circus’s new owner: a generous, mysterious man whose connection to the circus—Geni suspects—has a dark and dangerous history. And suddenly Geni is stumbling into a new reality of her own, her life interrupted daily by the terrors only Delia used to be able to see.
As the visions around her grow stronger, Geni isn’t sure who she can trust. Even worse, she’s starting to question whether she can trust her own mind.
Praise for Sleight “Jennifer Sommersby’s Sleight makes magic from an enthralling premise, wonderfully-drawn characters, and beautiful words. It’s hard to avoid descriptors like entrancing, spell-binding and mystical.” —Michael Grant, New York Times bestselling author of the Gone series “Fantasy readers will fall in love with Sleight. Like a circus, it’s an intoxicating mix of beauty, humor, magic, and danger that means the reader can’t bear to look away until the final page.” —Eileen Cook, author of With Malice “Startlingly imaginative and vividly realized.” —Ira Bloom, author of Hearts & Other Body Parts
Excerpt:
1
Calling Andronicus a mean lion would be like Calling a tsunami a big wave.
He tore off our wrangler Montague’s face. He didn’t mean to. Lions are wild animals, even if they live with a circus—especially  if they live with a circus—and the show Andronicus came from used bullwhips and cattle prods to train him. That cat had some stuff.
But I saved Montague. I was young—six? Seven, maybe? I heard the screams coming from the menagerie, and if you spend any time at a circus, you get to know the good sounds from the bad ones. Montague’s hollers for help, the yowl and roar of an enraged big cat—definitely not good sounds. Naturally, all the important players went running: Ted Cinzio, my “adopted” uncle and owner of the Cinzio Traveling Players Company and the man who rescued Andronicus and his girl Hera (and Gertrude and countless other beasts) from their terrible situations; Baby, the show’s tentmaster and Ted’s right-hand man in all things, and the other half of my mother’s heart; crew leads and roustabouts and Aunt Cece, Ted’s wife; Aleks Jónás of the Jónás Family Flyers, Ash and Violet’s dad; my mother, Delia.
And me.
She didn’t want me to see it, but out of all of them, I was really the only one who could do anything for Montague. Baby and my mother warned me, but I loved Montague, just as I loved all of my circus family. I couldn’t just let him die there in the lion’s pen, hay and dirt matting to his hair and neck from the incredible blood loss.
I saved a bird once. It flew into the side of our Airstream trailer. I picked it up and my head exploded in a firework of pain and light. I squeezed that little bird gently and mended its wing and it went from almost dead to alive and flying away in less than a minute. Then I threw up and my mom told me that we have secrets. It was the first time I really listened to the story—the one she told over and over again—about the little girl whose mother told her of a secret family treasure. I knew from then on that we were different.
Which is how I knew I was the only one who could save Montague.
While Ted and the wranglers tranquilized the lion, I sneaked in under their legs and laid my hands on Montague’s face. I pushed the skin back where it should be. I stopped the bleeding and saved his eye.
I was just a kid, so I wasn’t strong enough to restore him completely. I might have been able to if Baby hadn’t scooped me up and run out of the menagerie tent. Too many people were watching. But this was before everyone recorded everything on their phones. No one thought to record the little girl with the magic hands.
No matter. It has all caught up to me now.
And as I watch Montague in his predawn jog across the massive lawns of the Delacroixs’ French estate, his heavily scarred face a reminder of that day at the circus, I think about how I’d give anything to go back to that life, to those people, to that day, when I saved someone I loved.
When I believed I still could.

Really, though, who am I? How about a list? We Virgos tend to like lists:
Writer, copy/line editor (www.plumfieldediting.com)
I reside in the Great White North, though the webbed feet prove that I originate from Portland, Oregon. Last U.S. address was Los Angeles. No, I do not miss the traffic. (Although Vancouver is #2 in North America for Worst Traffic Ever.) I do miss California's awesome beaches.
I write under the pen name Eliza Gordon for non-YA titles -- romantic comedies and Happily Ever Afters. (These books are NOT for kids. Mature themes, adult language, super-inappropriate jokes that will make you giggle. Well, I hope.)
Member of SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators)
Member of the eight-person fiction cohort of the 2007 Writer’s Studio at Simon Fraser University
Studied copy and substantive editing (2005-06) at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. As a writer, I have worked with and studied the practices of some of the best editors in the publishing industry. #luckyJenn
Studied English, political science, and criminology via Washington State University
I'm called Mom by three brilliant babies.
I will never join the PTA or PAC, so please, don't ask. I also don't do candle, jewelry, or clothing parties. Thanks, though. I'm sure the finger sandwiches are delicious.
I used to do all of my first-draft writing in the car, at night, in the parking lot of my favorite coffee shop. These days I write where it's quietest -- home, or my local coffee shop.
I buy a lot of books. A LOT. No, seriously. I have a problem.
I am a soundtrack/movie score JUNKIE. Hans Zimmer and Alexandre Desplat and Sonya Belousova and the Greyson-William brothers and Ramin Djawadi … and HARRY ESCOTT. *swoon* He followed me back on Twitter and I almost died. Almost. If you ever need movie score recommendations, I AM YOUR PERSON.
I am obsessed with elephants and otters. I'd like to smooch one of each someday.
Cat person. The household is ruled by an overweight tuxedo cat named Nuit and her very energetic little sister, Rosie Cotton (named after Samwise Gamgee’s wife from Lord of the Rings).
I love coffee, Shakespeare (!!!), Joan of Arc, most things pastry, MOVIES (oh man I love movies so much), the Golden Rule, and bloody good writing.
I am Team Superman all the way. I wear the same outfit every day: a Superman T-shirt and jeans, and I have a very cool Superman tattoo inspired by the artwork of comic book artist Jim Lee.
I adore Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit -- and I ship Kili + Tauriel forever, and I don't care if Tauriel wasn't in original Hobbit story. 3>
I now have five tattoos, including the Dwarvish script from Kili's rune stone (from Desolation of Smaug). I waited until my 30s to get my first tattoo, just to be sure I wouldn't regret it.
Muses help me write -- I have many. I love movie stars!
I hate thunderstorms, paperwork, people lacking humility, lazy writers with a sense of entitlement, and going to the dentist. Oh, and bad drivers. THE BAD DRIVERS TURN ME INTO A RAGE STORM OF CALAMITOUS DOOM.

Games with Nazis, Nazi and Fascist Imagery
This list is intended primarily as a content/trigger warning resource. I’m including fascism in general as well as the more obviously named Nazis.
Content Warnings: Mentions of concentration camps, prisoner of war camps, ethnic cleansing, the holocaust, anti-Semitism, eugenics, rape, abortion, and general fascist horrible things.
As with all lists, suggestions and corrections are encouraged,
Fantasy/Fictional Games Featuring Nazis:
'Allo 'Allo! Cartoon Fun! - Licensed game from the 1980s British TV comedy series, set in occupied France.
Another War - Polish made RPG set during WW2 in the style of Baldur’s Gate.
Bionic Commando - The Japanese NES game originally had Hitler as the final boss, but the International versions changed his name without changing his appearance.
Bloodrayne - Set in 1933 and 1935, deals almost entirely with killing Nazis and Nazi vampires. The PC and Xbox versions have had the swastikas removed and replaced with a triskelion style symbol, which is also used by other real world white suprematist groups.
Bugs vs. Tanks - The player is a tank crew of Nazi tanks who have been miniaturised.
CannonCrotch - About killing Nazis with a dick cannon, yeah.
Call of Cthulhu: Prisoner of Ice - Something about Nazi scientists trying to harness the power of eldrich abominations.
Call of Duty: Zombies - Nazi zombies
Captain America: Super Soldier - Features the Iron Cross (the Marvel super soldier, not the medal) and Agents of Hydra, who are both Nazis.
City of Heroes - This defunct MMO had a villain faction who were Nazis.

Download 2 - The plot involves terrorist trying to bring back Hitler with digital technology.
Enemy Front - FPS about an American War Correspondent fighting with the Resistance
Epic Fantasy Battle Series - The second game features a Nazi as the final boss. He joins the party in the 3rd and 4th games. Both the Swastika and the Iron Cross symbolism show up in his outfits, though the Swastikas point in the wrong direction.
Ethnic Cleansing - I don’t think I need to explain this one.
Flight of the Amazon Queen - Features a company which is a front for a Nazi group with the names filed off.
Fists of Resistance - Game about punching Nazis
Freedom Fighters - Alternative history where Russia won WW2.
Freedom Force vs The Third Reich - It’s in the title so I’m being redundant for sake of completeness, it features alternative history and time travel but no actual swastikas.
Golgo 13: Wolf's Lair - Infiltrating a Neo-Nazi lair and killing them.
Golgo 13: Top Secret Episode - The Japanese original features a cyborg Hitler and obvious Nazis. These were apparently changed in the English language localisation, but the imagery and use of the swastika remains

The Great Escape (2003) - Based on the movie, not the real events which inspired it.

Laura Bow: The Dagger Of Amon Ra - Set in 1926 but features a Germany security guard who goosesteps.
Lost Horizon - Point and click adventure game in the style of Indiana Jones with Thule Nazis, though all swastikas are replaced with the Iron Cross because it was made by a German company.

Nazi/Fascist Imagery/Fascist Empires:
Absolute Obedience - This yaoi game is set in Germany and uses a lot of fascist militaristic imagery (also rape) but the exact historical period is unclear (it has the Berlin wall in it, for example,) and is visually all over the place.
Akatsuki Blitzkampf - Japanese Dōjin fighter which uses a lot of fascist militaristic imagery and is clearly inspired by the Axis and Allies of WW2.
Battalion Wars - The Xylvanians are based on the WW1 era German Empire rather than Nazi Germany.
Bioshock Infinite - Despite being set in 1912 Columbia is influenced directly by Nazi Germany in-game because of the time tears. Massively fascist racist society.
Bloodrayne 2 - Set in “modern times” but features a flashback with Nazi imagery and occasional triskelion imagery.
Borderlands Franchise - Handsome Jack is often referred to as a fascist in game, he kills people for no reason, has a massive ego, has huge statues build glorifying him, and wants to kill everyone on Pandora who doesn’t work for him because he has decided they are “savages”.
Bully aka Canis Canem Edit - During the Halloween section Gary’s costume is clearly a Nazi Officer uniform, but without any insignia
Civilization: Beyond Earth - The purity affinity is about glorifying humanity and destroying anything that doesn’t conform.
The Darkness - Apparently features Nazi imagery in a bonus comic which came with the game.
Einhänder - What’s left of the world is run by a German-speaking evil Empire.
Fallout 2 - The Enclave wanted to exterminate everyone who wasn’t part of them, though the later games made them a bit less extreme.
Fallout: New Vegas - Caesar’s Legion attempts to emulate the Roman Empire, complete with hating women, and crucifying all their enemies.
Fallout 4 - The Brotherhood of Steel in this instalment is obsessed with “purity” associated with not being irradiated.
Final Fantasy 2/II - The Empire of Palamecia.
Final Fantasy 6/VI - The Gestahlian Empire is definitely a fascist regime and the Emperor even uses a Nazi salute in game.
Final Fantasy 12/XII - The Archadian Empire.
Final Fantasy 15/XV - The Empire of Niflheim
Final Fantasy Type-0 - The Milites.
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim - Both the Thalmor and the Stormcloak factions are really into the “racial superiority” of the Altemer and Nords respectively.
Half-Life 2 - The Combine.
Killzone Fracnhise - The Hellghast are obviously based on a mixture of Nazi and Stalinist sources.
Lusternia - This MUD has a fascist empire called the Empire of Magnagora.
Maken X - Apparently the Japanese features Nazi imagery but was censored for American release (not sure if this was deliberate or not in context, given the use of the manji symbol in Japanese culture and religion, but the game also apparently features a boss fight against the Pope, so maybe it was).
Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy - The Movement brainwashes people and has a uniform with red arm bands and jackboots.
Resident Evil Franchise - Almost every antagonist movement in the series has some element of fascism to it, from wanting to “improve” humanity through genetic therapy, to killing off everyone who is not “worthy”, to experimenting bioweapons on African villagers.
Starcraft Franchise - The UPL & UED are into genetic “purity”and purging humanity of “undesirables”.
Star Wars - Any game which features the Sith Empire, but especially The Old Republic MMO.
Tales of Symphonia - The half-elven Desians round up humans and put them in camps for being “inferior”.
Team Fortress - The design of the Medic evokes a Nazi doctor, especially since he has a German accent and refers to himself as “ze ubermensch”.
Tropico Franchise - The Nationalist faction hates foreigners, and in Tropico 4 their leader is depicted as a skinhead.
Under Defeat - Nazi inspired uniforms.
Valkyria Chronicles - Has an evil empire which is a mashup of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.
Special Mentions and Exceptions:
Assassin’s Creed Franchise - In the lore Hitler was apparently a Templar with a piece of the Apple of Eden, but I’m not sure which game(s) contain Nazi imagery, if any, so needs more research.
Bazooka Bill - Is set during WW2 but all the enemies appear to be ninjas instead of German officers.
LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures - Unlike the films it’s based on, and most of the licensed games, the LEGO game contains no references to Nazis or Nazi imagery. Characters who were Nazis in the originals are referred to as “Enemies” in game instead.
Mass Effect - The Cerberus group is a “humans first” organisation in their first appearance but their portrayal over the three games is inconsistent.
The Secrets of Atlantis: The Sacred Legacy - Set in 1937 but omits direct references to Nazis and swastikas even though the Hindenburg is a location.

[FIN]: thread is finished [VIT] Very Important Thread: this thread for me takes posting priority over others so it can be concluded asap: wedding related, and one from each other category (crack, fluff, nsfw, (long) canonAU, otherAU)
Childhood Rivals Path to S Class Wizardry (age 13-14): Kaito along with Vivienne, Erza and Mirajane are chosen to participate to the S class promotion trials. They race to an island as part of their first trial, working together to take down a giant monster fish. Erza is eliminated for reaching the island last after fighting with Mira, but helps out with the next trial, a maze. Kaito confronts his worst fears on his way, but later work together with Viv to pass, while a vengeful Erza fights Mira to eliminate her. Kaito and Vivienne have to fight each other as part of their final trial, and in desperation to win so he can deserve to see his foster dragon father Eislogia again, Kaito awakens an unstable form of Dragon Force and almost kills Vivienne while losing control. Overwhelmed with guilt, Kaito leaves to train despite Viv pleading for him not to leave her. Teenage (Angst) Conflictions
why things are so horrible
Roast Fest (kaivi roast fest, age 16-17): It started off as a simple roast game, but escalated to nastiness as Viv become more drunk and Kaito more annoyed at her behaviour. He carried her home despite her protests, making her a remedy before leaving for a job, both assuming they hate each other more than ever.
Dear Diary [FIN] Best Friends (Ages 18+)

The next morning, Kaito loses control of his magic at the guild hall and flees to to Mt Hakobe to keep in under control. Vivienne follows him and hides out in an ice cave with Shiro while Kaito maintains his magic outside. Kaito almost dies while keeping a magical fire burning for them, but is saved by Viv feeding ice from the cave thanks to Shiro’s quick thinking. KaiVi return to Fairy Tail later, closer than before.

Viv defeats Bixlow with Dragon Force after Kaito appears to have been killed, with Gray giving Kaito ice to replenish his stamina before he fights Laxus on his own. After Laxus taunts Kaito about almost killing Viv in his S Class trials and calling her weak, Kaito releases the full power of his Dragon Force, and is stopped in time from killing Laxus from the cries of VIv and Shiro. Laxus takes the chance to counterattack and seemingly kills Kaito, causing Viv to fight Laxus in a rage, but is unable to keep it up for long due to her last fight with Bixlow. [Free eBook] The Blue Spong and the Flight from Mediocrity by St. Sukie de la Croix [1920s Chicago LGBT Fantasy Satire]
The Blue Spong and the Flight from Mediocrity by Chicago-resident British expat author St. Sukie de la Croix, an Esteem Award-winning columnist, playwright, and LGBT community historian who has been inducted into the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame, is a standalone satirical historical literary fantasy with m/m, f/m, and f/f erotic elements novella, free for a limited time courtesy of LGBT specialty publisher Lethe Press.
The story takes place in the 1920s in Chicago and is a literary fiction coming of age tale with strong magical realism and sex comedy elements, as three sheltered upper-class sisters tracing the origins of a supernatural pet find themselves taking different paths towards self-discovery, as they come into contact with the thriving black, immigrant, and underground LGBT communities and engage in assorted experiences that will broaden their previously narrow lives, as well as discovering secrets about their supposedly staid parents' own personal activities.
Offered DRM-free worldwide, available at Amazon.
Free for a limited time @ Amazon (should be available worldwide).
The Chicago Tribune newspaper has an archived article by de la Croix, giving a city tour spotlighting several LGBT-significant local historical areas, if you're interested.
Description The year is 1924 and has something gone amiss at the Chicago home of the Clam Sisters? When one purchases a rare blue spong from a songbird dealer, the aristocratic sisters and their staff find themselves exposed to a flying koan, provoking them to cast off their commonplace mores, their staid lives, for something altogether bold and ribald. Chinese tongs, vaudeville shows, fraudulent spiritualists...
De la Croix's newest book is a humorous historical fantasy that showcases the follies of heteronormative, misogynistic, repressive life.

Little Witch Academia Anime Review
Little Witch Academia, is Trigger’s latest original anime release, with the first thirteen episodes (both subbed and dubbed) airing on the Netflix streaming platform, however, it should be noted that the total 25 episodes have been released with English subs in Japan. Based on the OVA short and sequel film preceding it, the anime TV adaptation follows Atsuko “Akko” Kagari as she enrolls in the once famous Witch Academy ‘Luna Nova’, which once housed her idol Shiny Chariot, whom she looks up to. Unfortunately for Akko, however, she lacks even the smallest amount of magic and struggles performing simple spells such as flying on a broom. With the help of her friends Lotte & Sucy, as well as her fellow Luna Nova students and Professor Ursula, she slowly begins to grasp hold of magic.
Little Witch Academia is a 2017 fantasy anime adaptation of the OVA and film sequel of the same name, it is produced by Trigger, and licensed by Netflix for streaming. The first thirteen episodes are available on Netflix in English dub and subs, the remaining twelve are currently available in subs only.
Editor’s Note: Due to the complete series having been released elsewhere, this review will contain near complete, to complete spoilers for all 25 episodes. Netflix viewers please be wary of this.
A charmingly animated anime adaptation suitable for all ages.
If you like Trigger & dig Boku no Hero Academia, then odds are you’ll end up loving Little Witch Academia. The TV adaptation is a far more expansive take on the OVA & film sequel to said OVA that preceded it. The story of the TV anime once again follows lead character Akko; an aspiring witch who’s dream is to become just like her heroine Shiny Chariot. A once famous witch who has since been shunned by most of the magic community and has gone in hiding. After attending the same magic academy as Chariot, Luna Nova, Akko begins to train under the magical arts, she soon learns that she has to work far more harder than her fellow students due to herself being magicless. As the story progresses, Akko will have to face the challenges surrounding not only her educating, but the mysteries of Luna Nova & Chariot’s disappearance.

THE GOOD: If you’re a fan of Trigger’s previous work such as Kill la Kill & Gurren Lagann, to the point of recognizing their art and writing style, then chances are you’ll love Little Witch Academia, as it features both of the producer’s usual touch. It’s cute, hilarious, and has an very well liked cast of characters, and almost everyone gets some development and a respectable amount of screen time. The first arc deals with Akko’s growth as a witch, while the second has her realizing her growing magical abilities, while searching for seven magical words that will unleash the “reconstruction magic” and thus saving the world of witchery. The second arc also introduces Croix, a witch looking to combine magic with technology, because she feels the current age of magic is dying like most of the world. While each episode can often feel like filler, that’s not necessarily the case, as they all have a bit of their own singular plot that individually continue the main story of each arc. The series has a very satisfying closing to its story, especially for Akko.
A likely one off we’re sad to see end.
THE BAD: Not every character gets a closing arc come the end of episode 25, which is disappointing. And considering this is a Trigger production, there’s likely not to be a continuation or second season, although it is their first attempt at creating a franchise, so who knows what will happen down the road?
A great series with a (mostly) satisfying end.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Little Witch Academia was a hilarious, witty, charming adventure throughout its run. Akko is an absolutely adorable character, and the rest of the cast were enjoyable. It’s a shame that this is likely the end of the story, given Trigger’s history with continuations, but we’ll see. Otaku Dome gives Little Witch Academia a 87 out of 100.
