something about luke and rory being the two most important people in both jess and lorelai's life.....despite them hating each other, lorelai constantly tries to smooth things with jess to please luke & rory and jess also somewhat tries change his attitude towards lorelai for the sake of rory and luke. just something i found interesting.

What made you ship it?

i really, really wish i had notes on this from back when i first watched spn 😩i have this stupid hole in my memory between starting s5 and being neck-deep in the samifer tag on ao3 but like something must have happened, right?? i feel like it must have started while watching the show and not come about afterwards, because i do remember being uncertain where they were going to go with lucifer in the lead-up to the cage opening and then being super into the direction almost immediately when sarah!lucifer hit the scene...the fact that i was reading paradise lost for school (which i am still so in love with tbh) at the same time as watching spn back in the day almost certainly contributed, hard for me to be bombarded with beautiful, romantic depictions of the devil on all sides, see the similarities between how PL satan acts with eve and how spn lucifer acts with sam, and not get Ideas...

ok this is getting rambly but like, i have to think if i wasn’t there immediately from the jess!lucifer scenes, everything about swan song would have done it. i always lose it for a bodyshare situation, especially one as interesting and considerate as the sam-lucifer one in that episode 

What are your favorite things about the ship?

holy parallels batman!!! i was trying to explain why i am so into this ship to a friend recently, and there’s a lot for me to love here, but the ability for the audience to learn about lucifer (devil, antagonist, arguable anti-hero) through sam (sympathetic, protagonist, also arguable anti-hero) and vice-versa is beautiful — but, maybe even more than that, the ability for lucifer and sam to learn about themselves and the universe from each other because of this fated connection they have has such fabulous potential. they’re ‘mfeo literally,’ not as soulmates but as selfmates, and they’re both such smart, inquisitive characters that there would have been so much potential for them to investigate the intricacies of why their destinies were supposed to merge (totally get why the show couldn’t do that for narrative as well as situational reasons, but that’s what what fic is for, right?) i love examining what is similar and different about them, and they both are perfectly suited to really push the other on some things few other characters would be able to push (like why does sam really value humanity? in what ways is lucifer’s stance philosophical vs personal?). i’m a huge slut for characterization and there’s so much here, you know? 

plus it’s just so fun that they had lucifer, a character who is openly about two seconds from killing everyone at any given moment, absolutely brighten tf up  like “yey it’s sam 😊hi sam ily!” every time its true vessel is in the room?? that’s such an odd choice from everyone involved?? an angel who is THAT resentful of humanity showing affection primarily for a human being, and expecting (arguably) to share eternity with only that human being for company? that’s strange! that’s spicy! idk!

pluuus the weird obsessiveness of samifer doesn’t get in the way of any of the other weird obsessive relationships either character has with others, imo...sam can still be insane about dean and lucifer can still be insane about michael; if anything i feel like they’d make each other more insane about those other individuals, rather than less, which is always good as far as i (fan of characters being insane) am concerned <3

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

i think it is not a...particularly unpopular opinion within samifer shipper circles to be kind of denialist about later-seasons lucifer and to largely disregard that in terms of the ship? but uhh...that

otherwise though, idk, i don’t really think sam alone could have persuaded lucifer to put the apocalypse on hold for very long. but i do think unusual (from an angel’s pov) arguments sam might be able to make could get an attitude shift started, at least.
