it’s specifically pointed out that there is a pond somewhere in the miller lab that has been transformed by the philosopher’s stone, and everyone accepts that if the lab hits the sea below that will also transform, so the stone transforms both solids and liquids. but it does not transform gasses. there is no truly empty space in the lab, there is air, which does not seem affected by the stone. i get that that’s just because it wouldn’t make much sense from a normal non-purely scientific perspective and certainly would make for a shitty story, but i am curious what the justification would be in-universe. taako is a transmutation expert which i would guess is fairly analogous to chemistry but with arcane elements. maybe he designed the stone specifically not to interact with gasses? but then why not have it ignore people? i would think it might be easier (maybe? who knows how artificing works) to bar a state of matter than to have the stone be able to distinguish between complex materials like wood, stone, or flesh and not act on some specific materials. the nature of all the relics is so interesting and contradictory and i get that they’re just fun themed macguffins but i wish we saw a little more of their process of design and creation

the light of creation is such a fascinating and fucked up macguffin. an object that plants ideas in your mind and pushes them further than you ever would on your own. the brush that painted reality. a brush that, dropped in the wrong place, kept painting more and more over the top of a finished work.

this thing doesn't solve your problems. it alerts you to problems you would've never known you had, and then it solves those problems. the IPRE home planet's first ever spaceship was made for inter-system travel. they hadn't even been to the moon! the moon!

it gave a man an existential crisis of incomprehensible proportion, and then it led him to solve it like a math problem. there is no acceptance, no peace. only improvement and growth, the next thing, the next universe.

it's introduced as evil relics to be destroyed, then fused into the great shield to save everyone. it's the hunger's fuel and the starblaster's flight. it is an entirely neutral force. your reasons are nothing. your desires are everything.

How funny would it be if in a fate story a mage tracked down a relic for a specific hero summon just to find out once they do the ritual and get the wrong person that the relic had been misidentified by archaeologists.

I can just picture Kiritsugu giving Iri a ten minute lecture about how he got the scabbard of Excalibur and how they can use it to summon king Arthur who will easily win the grail war for them and also legend says that it has healing abilities that can help her with her whole turning into a cup problem, and “don’t worry I have this whole thing planned out”, and then he does the ritual and some big buff male knight shows up so he is like “hello king Arthur” and the knight looks at him with a funny face and laughs

“King Arthur? My name is Gawain. Oh cool! You guys found my scabbard!”

Iri is like “so does this mean I’m not getting any help about the whole turning into a cup thing?

And Kiritsugu is plotting out 500 ways to murder the mage family relic dealer who tracked down “king Arthur’s” scabbard that he built his entire grail war plan around.

thinking forever about taako and lucretias dynamic. something i rlly disagree with (and admittedly i havent seen this opinion surrounding their relationship lately im just thinking of the days of old (2017)) is the notion that after story and song taako and lucretia are like. at eachothers throats all the time or taakos always picking a fight with her. bcoz really aside from story and song taako and lucretia like. do not fight. they have their disagreements but taako and lucretia are more alike than they are different in terms of their nature - theyre both fairly reserved when it comes to showing big displays of emotion
