"Glass" | Astrid x Raymond | 18+++
A/N: If you remember this post, this is where this all started.
A03 Link
Michael Pearson had people, but so did Astrid Hughes.
Ray was spotted at an underground boxing match in a dressed down look without his glasses, and his arm around some done up brunette who ‘looked remarkably a lot like the boss’ wife’ but she was ‘definitely not Ray’s wife’.
It looked bad, and Astrid’s anger took no survivors as she yelled at Ray who tried to explain himself, but Astrid was hearing none of it.

thinking about the age gap between buck and tommy...... thinking about how tommy is mid-40s at least and is/was single even though he's looking for love and wants to be in love because he's willing to delay his hard-fought-for gratification if things aren't "real and right"... thinking about how vulnerable it all must feel to tumble into this thing with buck because, like, evan is new at this but tommy's been at it for a while and he wants something that's going to treat him gently.....thinking about him pursuing this thing with buck...... thinking about him actively being ready to take himself off the market because evan feels right..... thinking about him realizing how very fucking wrong he was when he realizes the man he's put himself out there for is already in love with his new best friend........ thinking about tommy getting hurt.....thinking about tommy being hurt even though he knows that's technically not fair, no one did anything wrong he just got here too late....... thinking about tommy sitting with the idea of getting there too damn late like he could have had everything he wanted if he stopped by the 118 after that call from howie to make sure everyone was okay........ everything he wanted if he just picked up a damn phone to see if the 118 wanted to hang out for old times sake........ thinking about tommy thinking about what ifs..... thinking about the pain he's going to be in even if it's fleeting and ultimately overshadowed by his happiness for them just......... thinking about tommy kinard and feeling sick about him. tbh.

Okay, I sat and watched the entire Gentlemen series, and...
IDK.
It wasn't bad, no it was quite good. But it's like Guy took everything that made the movie a masterpiece and then just threw it out for something else. Which...yeah...
I'm gonna have to marinade in it.

Theo James made an excellent point which may get lost because of a wild ride that the show offers. He explained that his character, Edward, gets corrupted by power and violence.
This dark theme is neatly deepened throughout the show and very well resolved at the end. Think about Eddie’s transition from a captain striving to avoid unnecessary border conflicts to a drug lord always having his way. It takes a really unsettling turn. Explored before, famously in the Godfather, the Gentlemen’s new reimagine serves justice to this trope.
The point of the story is that they are not gentlemen. It is just a cover they exploit to justify their horrible deeds.
