Hear me out.

TW: pregnancy horror. Oh, and spoilers ahead.

About her:

An idea for additionnal roads on Slay the Princess.

She calls for you as soon as you step into the cabin, seeming desperately frightened. If you don't take the Blade, the Contrarian will force you to do it.

-> The Wife (after the Thorn or the Damsel).

Feat the Voice of the Smitten, the Voice of the Contrarian and the Voice of the Opportunist. And, of course, the Hero.

She sees you, terrified, and either you manage to refrain the Narrator/the Contrarian from killing her ("You can't trust her, she is dangerous, she only uses this form to attract your pity" + hallucinations of a huge monster????/"Fuck this woman, if you don't kill her you will be killed slowly by her nastiness! Huge red flag to be trapped in a fucking cabin innit???") by killing yourself, or you kill her and the Smitten makes you kill yourself ("Because a life without our great love is not worth living!").

You won't find her alive in the cabin. There is just the Wife's body laying on the floor. Oh my God, what have you done? (end of the road)

-> Kill her : The Lonely

Ft. Smitten, Contrarian, Opportunist, Broken, Hero.

You find her heavily pregnant. She starts being in labor after a few lines of dialogue (she asks you to stay by her side, she takes your hand, she says that she is scared but happy). The Stubborn is pretty keen on fighting the Narrator and repeats that "She is our wife, in our hord, MUST PROTECT THE MOTHER OF OUR CHILD AND FUTURE GREAT FIGHTER".

-> Kill yourself : The Mother

Fr. Smitten, Contrarian, Opportunist, Stubborn, Hero.

She gives birth, and dies between your arms no matter what. You can use the Blade to kill the baby (end of the road, the Shifting Mound will take the baby and the Mother before you harm the child) or to cut the ombilical cord. You can bring your child to the outside world. The Smitten is silent, the Cold can be heard.

When you are outside the cabin, the road ends and the Shifting Mound takes the weeping infant.

I am madly in love with winter. Seriously. Winter is a pretty creepy time of year, if you think about it. Cold, dark. And most importantly, death. These are harsh conditions that test your strength. But at the same time, it's all damn beautiful.

Every winter I come back to one of my stories, which is literally saturated with the theme of winter and inevitable death, before which everyone is equal.

The story about the distant and old villages of Russia, about the forgotten and terrible past.

(Here his design is very simplified and stylized. Just for the sake of experiment, I guess.)

The drowned man is a character who can be called the personification of winter death. I can hardly call him an antagonist. He is something more.

An ordinary village thug after death, falling through the ice, finds a "new life". And as soon as the first cold comes, as soon as the lakes begin to be covered with a crust of ice- he comes, bringing with death.
