"kirk and his very attractive friend", yes I agree. in general, I'm so spirk now though, I can't unsee it.
I love that they did these pretty obvious episodes about discrimination/equality in season 3. it was like they had nothing to lose anymore. also, the art protest looks eerily familiar. hello, last generation...

Three episodes of Star Trek that shaped my worldview
TOS The Cloud Minders: Listen to both sides of a conflict. Environment contributes to the lens through which we understand things, and a change in environment can aid our comprehension of other points of view. If protections or accommodations are asked for and helpful, ensure they’re available.
TNG Remember Me: We can build our own mental prisons by trapping ourselves in our fears and doubts. Our friends and family can help us, but only we possess the ability to break free of the danger — and we do possess that ability, even when it scares the hell out of us. Ask questions and know that the “right” answer can be a vehicle to find additional truth.
TNG Parallels: Every decision has consequences, but some consequences are deeper than others. It’s possible to make disparate decisions and come to disparate forms of happiness. The path to contentment isn’t linear, it’s a constellation that can be re-envisioned and re-drawn by examining what has happened and what we wish to change; there are many ways (or hailing frequencies) to become the person we want to be.

I can understand why people aren’t fans of the Spock/T’Pring storyline in SNW, but I do appreciate the confirmation that Spock can and will fuck outside of pon farr simply bc it makes the t’hy’la footnote in TMP novelization sound like an even weaker attempt at a redirection.
For reference:

holy shit The Cloud Minders is a blatant alegory to late stage capitalism and class inequalities between the working class and ruling class. and it was aired in 1968?? i will never understand how conservatives think trek is not “woke” lmao
