big fan of airing order putting these right next to each other. i think that sad little drone is in itself a tragic romance more compelling than a lot of the plots intended to be read as such in this series

Sometimes, Star Trek will introduce an idea that is incredibly disturbing, horrific, and traumatizing, and then barely (if at all) address the ramifications of that occurrence

#star trek #tos #tng #ds9 #this is specially made with the changeling in mind because ive been reminded how bonkers and fucked up the implications are #but there are plenty of other episodes across the different shows that also do this #but yeah a machine erasing uhuras memories and her having to relearn everything all over again is just tossed out there #never addressed again #and in that same episode that same machine kills scotty! fully kills him! and then somehow 'fixes' him bringing him back to life #its not explored! the ramifications and implications of this are barely touched on! it is never mentioned again outside the episode!#this is up there with my horror over hard time just dropping all that about obrien and never talking about it again #i get that tos is episodic i get that #and maybe time has made me forget details but i really dont recall them exploring in the episode the full horror of this #or get into any extensive recovery of the characters #liv talks
