Más experimental que muchos otros "Gloria", el de The Blues Magoos en 1967 para recordar a su bajista Ron Gilbert, fallecido el 16 de febrero. G-L-O-R-I-A.
El quinteto neoyorquino editó cinco álbumes entre 1966 y 1970 de entre los cuales destaca el primero "Psychedelic Lollipop". Los Magoos fueron un buen ejemplo de retroalimentación USA-UK, hacían versiones de The Nashville Teens y The Move, y a su vez inspiraron a The Spectres (Status Quo) y a Deep Purple. El famoso "Black Night" cogió su riff de "We Ain´t Got Nothing Yet", aunque ésta es más que probable que lo pescara de la versión de "Summertime" de Ricky Nelson.

Deep Purple comenzaron en los años 60 alternando material original con versiones "progresivas" de Joe South, Neil Diamond, Phil Spector, Donovan, Beatles... Y un poco en ese sentido fue su potente single de 1970 "Black Night", una canción que siempre asocié a "We Ain´t Got Nothing Yet" (1966) de la banda de garaje neoyorquina Blues Magoos, por su obvio parecido entre riffs, y que Status Quo versionaron un año después en Inglaterra cuando todavía se llamaban The Spectres. Lo que no sabía es que los Magoos pudieran tomar el riff a su vez de Ricky Nelson, de su versión del clásico "Summertime" en concreto, lanzada en 1962. Jon Lord confesó en una entrevista que robaron el riff, también Ritchie Blackmore más tarde.
