Chorus is very cool. Are her clones extra bodies for her, or do they all have individual (but identical) consciousnesses?
Thank you!!
Individual, identical consciousnesses. They can act independently, and in theory, any Chorus clone could differentiate into a totally unique person given time. She's just spawning in traumatised 14yo's to die for her. Fucked up!
Though, I do want to give them some way to share consciousness... when a clone dies/discorporates (I'm still torn on how physical to make them, though my original inspiration was Twice from BNHA, whose clones are physical but melt from severe injury) the original gets their memories, and I might go further and say they can share thoughts via touch or proximity.

Hey this is a little different I guess but can you do a regina x fem reader where reader is so genuine and thoughtful about loving regina that Miss queen bee sometimes gets overwhelmed because when has anyone treated her like that when they didn't want something or her want something from them?
Used To It
Tumblr media
Description: Regina is used to putting all of the effort in her relationships. She starts dating Reader and gets overwhelmed by the amount of love and effort she's shown. Reader helps her realize what she deserves.
WARNINGS: none, fluffy as fuck
Regina George was not used to love.
I mean, sure, her parents loved her. But, they loved her because they were her parents. It's kind of a requirement to love your kids.
She thought Aaron loved her, but he just loved what dating Regina gave him. Popularity, status, friends. Same thing with Shane, he loved her because she was good at sex.
She never really felt love.
She had always heard about it, seen it in movies, read about it, but she had never experienced it.
She thought dying for 15 seconds would finally get her the love she had been chasing her whole life. Turns out, it doesn't. It just makes everyone feel pity for you.
After completely healing from the spinal injury, and neck brace free, Regina came out to the whole school. Most people were surprised but some people kinda already knew.
A couple of months after coming out, Regina started talking to a girl in her Physics class.
Y/N Y/L/N.
She was very sweet and charming and always knew how to make Regina feel better. After a few dates, Y/N asked Regina to be her girlfriend, to which the blonde said yes.
Now, a couple of months into their relationship, Regina felt overwhelmed. In a confusing way.
It's not like it was Y/N's fault. It wasn't.
The girl had been nothing short of perfect to Regina. Taking her on spontaneous dates, buying her gifts, pda, the whole nine yards.
She wasn't used to it.
She was used to taking control in her relationships but this, this was different from any relationship she had been in. This was....healthy.
The blonde didn't know how to bring up how she felt to Y/N. She had talked to Karen and Gretchen and even though they weren't much help, they were right.
"Be honest with her, Regina. She'll understand."
The blonde had texted Y/N to come over so they could talk. She had to let her know that it wasn't anything bad, so she wouldn't freak out. Fifteen minutes after she sent the text, Y/N showed up.
She had stopped and gotten Regina her usual from Starbucks. Regina's heart melted at the gesture and thanked the girl with a kiss. She led Y/N into her room, for more privacy as the girl made herself comfortable.
"So, what's up, baby?" Regina took a deep breath and sat at her vanity, facing Y/N. "Umm. I don't know how to say this." The blonde began to fidget as Y/N looked at the girl with a comforting smile.
"Take your time baby." Regina took another deep breath. "I've never been in a relationship that's so...healthy. And it's overwhelming." Y/N nodded, allowing Regina to go on.
"I've never been around a relationship that showed me what love was supposed to be. My parents, Aaron, Shane. I've never been exposed to stuff like that and you have shown me more love in these few months than anyone and it's very overwhelming. I don't wanna mess anything up because I'm happy for the first time in my life, but I also don't wanna hold back."
Y/N nodded and stood, walking to where Regina was sitting. "Regina, first off, thank you for being honest with me baby. Listen, I just wanna give you the best. I know your past relationships haven't been the best, but I'm going to make up for the sucky parts by treating you like the princess you are."
Regina's eyes filled with tears at the girls words. "I don't want to overwhelm you but I also don't want you to feel like I'm going to treat you like your other relationships did. This is a team, Regina. Not an individual thing. I'm going to be there for you, just like you're going to be there for me."
Regina nodded, tears running down her face. Y/N wiped her tears and kissed her gently. "I'm so proud of you for telling me, Gina. I know it wasn't easy. But please, for the future, know that you can come to me for anything, baby. I won't judge."
The blonde nodded, burying her head in Y/N's neck. Y/N kissed her head and guided her back to her bed. Y/N laid back and pulled Regina into her arms. "I really care about you, Regina. All I want is for you to be happy."
And as Regina fully relaxed in Y/N's arms, she felt true happiness for the first time in her life.
Yeah, she could get used to this.

More on that whole Alastor having a spouse thing (spoilers for ep5).
A dynamic I've had rotating in my mind is of Alastor having a partner who died and went to hell with him. They represent the stereotypical couple from their time and all around are just happy, despite being in hell. Before they died Al's darling helped him cover up his crimes. Being his alibi, lying to people and cleaning up any messes he might have accidentally left behind. Even on occasions helping him cook or even back using the meat he hunted for. And when they both eventually kicked the bucket they held those values as they did when they were alive.
From an onlookers perspective they come off as a couple who's madly in love with one another, still holding that adoration towards each other through the decades they've been together. They dance together, they hold hands, they kiss… But it's not love. Ok, let me rephrase that for you. They gouge out other people's eyes out of jealousy, they pick their next victims together, they have eachothers back through thick and thin. It's not love, it's deeper.
The thing about those two is that no one can really understand them, as cheesy as that sounds. It gives them a sense of solidarity, that there is no one else for them because there is no one else like them. They are the only ones they would consider… Equals. Heh, one of the reasons why they're so intertwined with each other is because they're both just so terrible. His darling spouse just seems more negotiable, but their passiveness is a ruse. Coming of as motherly/fatherly (whatever the gender neutral term is) easily reeling in any weak minded sinners. Their diabolical antis have Alastor weak. HAH, the demon/angel, whoever has Alastor on contract wishes they had this amount of power over him because he, is, whipped.
Oh, and we can't forget the hotel's residents finding out about Al's little darling doe. Either it was Alastor who mentioned them or Mimzy did through her retelling of how Al rose to power. Or they already meet them (Husker, Niffty), but nevertheless the crew has only heard good things about you. Much to their surprise considering how self centered the dear demon is, while Vaggie is weirded out by this her girlfriend is happy and wishes to meet them someday/night. And when they do meat? They weren't very surprised, they kinda already had an image of who they were due to Alastor's ramblings.
.
.
.
Holding you close he kisses your neck where the burn marks are most visible. You can feel his everlasting smile tugging into a frown against your skin, the mere thought of you taking your own life still makes him sick. How afraid you must have been without him. You lean back cupping his cheek with your hand looking deep into his sorrowful eyes. An unfamiliar look for the usually dapper man, it didn't suit him.
“There's no need to get so worked up over old scars dear, I don't, so why should you? Besides, I'm here now aren't i?”
At your words the radio demon saged and let out a content sigh, his lovely smile returning.
“Your right” he said, kissing the inside of your palm before returning back to snuggling with his lover.
I can't imagine the reader not having a twang to their voice, their own vibe, not radio per say but something like from this youtube clip. It probably wouldn't make sense for them to sound like that but I couldn't get it out of my head.
If there's one thing I love , it's when others explore the relationship between the two individuals before they went six feet down under. And one of those versions that i quite enjoy is Deer Dolly by ohproserpine check em out. And also, Where do I begin? on ao3 (be warned, for there is implication of SA in it, nothing too graphic but still, protective Alastro being protective, love it).
I think the appeal of Alastor was how different he was (except for in the creepy ass twink department, we've got plenty of those). Mainly in the way he was presented. “a show made independently, and the voice actors are making streams talking in their characters voices? Ö”. And everyone just ran with what they had, we were given just enough to fall for the colorful cast, enough to make fan content before the pilot was out. Like the dad jokes, fan animations, Alastor saying darling~ and the many accounts of them flustering Ashley, among other things :) (all the letters are links, haven't seen some of these in years dafuq). I'm surprised that not many people use what they said in the streams in their writings, I'd wish to see more of that. There's some real gold in there to be utilized.
But anyways, back to the topic at hand. There's always been one song I've associated Alastor with, since I was like 15 to16 years old, and it's something has to happen. Can't help but imagine a chase sequence whenever I listen to it, and I recently found some more inspiration in the form of this! and that.
.
.
.
He could smell the fear radiating from his prey, they ran with haste, trying to put distance between them and their pursuer. The demon chuckled to himself at their persistence. Such a lively prey they were, truly, he couldn't wait to hold them close to his chest, to trap them in the grip of his teeth, tearing tissue and bones in his jaws. Oh He loves them, he hunts them.
Man, I remember back in the day there were so many stories revolving around Alastor appearing in the living world to torment his darling, or to make a meaningful connection with them. But I've never seen one where his darling is his accomplice, helping him spread his “curse” onto unsuspecting victims. I got this idea from this piece of artwork by lanveril.
i remember the days of that too! it was such a great time of alastor and obsession fics yknow, but also small??? since it was just the pilot and we had a lot to toy around with. but you are so right about him and his s/o being a cheesy couple.
the sweetest couple on the block who seem very normal and overall a prime example of love. “darling, i have the meat!” and you would beckon him in the kitchen with a sweet smile so you could prepare it.
i think he would be a cliche husband, but also one who enjoys a little rough housing form time to time.
i had to gatekeep this ask for awhile mb LMFAOO i loved it so much😭

Headcanons of Wolfwood trying to process the person he has a crush on just. Lifting the Punisher one handed? Or lifting him one handed by the back of the collar like he's a misbehaving kitten.
A/N: WAIT I LOVE THIS, Wolfwood would absolutely be SHOOKETH, I added in headcanons of Wolfwood realizing he has a crush on you as a bonus
Tumblr media
Wolfwood developing a crush was definitely something he didn't anticipate at all, it wasn't on his bingo card
And for his crush to be somebody who could probably kick his ass? Wolfwood DEFINITELY didn't see that coming
Wolfwood's a sucker for strong individuals, it doesn't matter in what way - physically, mentally, emotionally, strength of mind, of character or resolve, he'd be a sucker for you the moment you show strength in any way
Like watching you lift the Punisher like it weighs nothing? He's speechless - how do you even do that?
You're stronger than he ever expected you to be and his heart is doing weird stuff in his chest for an hour after witnessing that, and any time he remembers that, his heart does a weird fluttering thing
Having you literally pull Wolfwood and lift him by the scruff of his neck when he's fighting with Vash or about to get shot at? Man finds it incredible and his jaw is dropping open as you set him down
Will (reluctantly and gruffly) thank you for keeping him out of trouble, the smallest blush present on the bridge of his nose and the tips of his ears
"U-Um... thanks, (Y/N). Dunno I needed you there but... thanks for looking out for me."
You banter with him and snap back at him when he teases you, matching his energy and standing your ground? Wolfwood is literal seconds away from buying a ring right there and begging you to marry him
He would just be in straight awe of you, but he tries his best to hide it so people don't think he's getting soft
His best isn't enough, though
Man is not as slick as he thinks he is, and is definitely caught staring at you by Vash, Meryl, Milly and Roberto (and literally every other person who witnesses the two of you)
Will vehemently deny that he's staring at you or doing anything that could possibly indicate he likes you in any way more than as a friend or finds you incredible
"Don't be stupid, Needle-Noggin'! I just zoned out, that's all! Don't think you're clever!"
But over time, as Wolfwood spends more time with you, getting to know you and see you in action as you keep him safe or banter with him and tease him, he starts to realize that he's got feelings for you
Wolfwood begins to understand that the overwhelming warmth in his chest that he feels when he sees that you're safe after an altercation, or the jitteriness he feels when he accidentally brushes against you isn't a normal thing
Wolfwood eventually has to come to terms with the fact that he may or may not potentially have a teeny tiny itty bitty crush on you
It's actually a massive crush and he's already in love with you let's be real he just is too proud and kinda scared to admit it
I can literally imagine Wolfwood having a drink at a saloon when he comes to the sudden realization that he's got a crush on you, especially after hearing your laugh and realizing how happy it makes him to hear you laughing
Man immediately chokes on his drink seconds afterwards and ends up sounding like he's coughing up a lung
Now that he realizes he's got a crush on you, he's unsure what to do about it and I can picture him trying to be smug and confident but he actually comes across a bumbling mess
Tries to lean up on the Punisher only for him to fall straight over, but thankfully you catch both him and the Punisher before they hit the sand
Man has literal heart eyes when you set him upright and brush him off, checking if he's alright and looking at him with concern
Bottom line - Wolfwood's in love and he's a simp for you but doesn't know how to handle it

*slaps table* hi. This is the post where I talk about, yet again, why Kishi is an idiot when it comes to the implications of his own worldbuilding. Point 1. being that Kishi’s insistence that peacetime is bad for shinobi business is hot garbage and point 2. being the implications of ANBU being Scary even to other shinobi. Because the show makes it clear that ANBU are supposed to be the Scary Ones, the Dark Ones who do messed up stuff. Many fics have already talked about this, but not *too* many I've seen actually explore the implications of what that actually MEANS when put in the context of a society who thinks it's A-okay to give a knives and bombs to literal kids and shoo them off to fight things. Buckle up I’m going to flex my logic center and start talking economics even tho I never studied economics outside casual worldbuilding interest.
Okay to start off with, I’m need to talk about Not Anbu for a hot minute and describe some of the few things we *do* know about Kishi’s “worldbuilding” of the shinobi villages and their history.
1. Literally everyone but Madara the Madman agrees that the villages are a Good Thing that happened, even the missing ninja never breathe a word about wanting to go back to the Warring States Era where everyone was in clans. The implications of this could honestly be it’s own entire rant but I will restrain myself and focus on the topic at hand for now.
2. Konoha and every village barring the trash fire that is pre-Boruto Kiri have a thriving enough economy to be literal *cities* of very decent size and decent quality of life, which the civilians have a major hand in I’m sure, but tellingly the shinobi *make enough income to get by* and seem to do so very easily. I will probably come back to this as I go on.
3. Ninja villages not only have a wide array of mission ranks (which I will also come back to) but they are the ones who set the prices for individual missions, not the employers. This is seen in the infamous Wave mission when the bridge builder fellow lied about the danger of the mission because he *could not afford to pay for a mission above a C-rank*, which I remind you is the second lowest mission ranking in the system.
Alright with those in mind I’m gonna talk about the “peacetime is bad for shinobi” garbage because that does actually relate directly to the worldbuilding implications of ANBU. Just. Just bear with me here and forgive me if this kinda rambles in multiple directions, talking about anything with Kishi makes my braincells run for the hills on a good day.
JUMPING IN WITH THE PEACETIME THING. This is stupid. This is one of the stupidest things to come out of Kishi’s mouth in my opinion barring the existence of the cannibal space aliens. Why? Because despite Kishi’s love of explosions and giant flashy fights shinobi are supposed. To be. STEALTHY. And the vast majority of them now live in villages, which means they need steady income.
Post the unification of the clans into villages, wars actually became too big and messy to be profitable because it’s during peacetime that people have money to spend on hiring ninja. And we see them spend it on incredibly frivolous things when it comes to shinobi. Just look at all the D-ranks we see or are referenced in the shows. Babysitting, pet retrieval, fence painting, carrying shopping bags for civilian ladies, house cleaning, the list goes on. And these pay well enough, are priced high enough by the village, that Might Dai, a single parent, was able to feed, shelter, and clothe both himself and an extremely energetic child while also having time to train himself and his son and walk Gai to and from school. And the price tag for missions only goes up from there. Higher ranked missions pay more according to risk, but peacetime is when people will be able to afford those kinds of missions. *Wartime*, as war is defined in the show post-village creation, are giant, messy affairs where a lot of manpower goes to maintaining front lines and countering enemy action, leaving far *less* manpower and time to take on these kinds of missions, and with the mass destruction of land and resources that these wars cause, people will have less money to throw at having the magic ninja men do things like escort caravans, deal with petty crime, retrieve stolen items, etc. And those examples are just C-rank/B-rank examples. Most wartime missions that we see in the show are actually missions assigned by the village itself, not from an outside client, which means the pay is coming from the Village coffers and not an external source, which can get messy very quickly if they do not have the manpower to take enough missions from outside clients to refill those coffers. Remember that I’m coming back to it later.
Wartime, for village ninja, is loud and messy and ugly. *Peacetime* on the other hand, is the playground of the rich, the powerful, and the *subtle*. Peacetime is when nobles pay top dollar to *flaunt* that they can afford to hire a ninja or three to escort them around in broad daylight regardless of any enemies they’ve made. Peacetime is when nobles have the money to pay for ninja to go in and spy on rivals or steal secrets. Peacetime is when the Daimyo and other elites hire shinobi to escort luxury goods at high risk of theft, to deal with underground human or drug trafficking that is inconveniencing them, or to spy on their neighboring lands for information that will become useful next time they meet up to flex on each other in a “you don’t want to make trouble with me I have and know X”.
More importantly, peacetime is when the *lower* classes can afford to pay for the magic ninja as well. If D-ranks are enough to support a single parent and his child, then C and B ranks are actually going to be the *backbone* of a ninja village’s economy, not the A or S ranks. C and B ranks are going to be the highest pay for the lowest risk, and those will predominantly come from the merchant and working class who have enough spare cash to have someone deal with the wild animals harming their livestock, take out budding trafficking rings and bandit gangs or escort people and goods.
I don’t think I’m emphasizing this one enough. Look at a map of the Elemental Nations, look at the size of those countries. Now we don’t get a lot of info on cities in those countries (because KISHI) but there are bound to be plenty of villages, towns, and cities dotting those countries, and all of them are going to be connected in some way to each other via trade routes and highways. You’re going to have Konoha’s own supply lines and the trade deals they have with their own merchant families bargaining for preferential treatment in exchange for setting up shop in a ninja village on top of all the other merchants from all over the Land of Fire who, during peacetime, have both money and incentive to hire the fire-chucking magic people to ensure *all* of their goods arrive *on time, every time*.
You’re going to have merchants who have supply lines through multiple countries. Glass products from the Land of Wind. Inks, fine paper, and flavored teas from Land of Fire. Fish, oyster, and pearl products from the coast (which is especially high risk in areas near the disaster fire that is Kiri). Each and every country is going to have luxury products or famous higher-quality raw materials (*points at Iwa and their rock obsession, points at every product made out of high quality stone, silver, gold, or iron ore*) that the other countries are all going to want, and consequently you will have merchants that are going to be willing to pay top dollar to ensure those products get where they are meant to go and do so undamaged and in a timely fashion despite bad roads/bad weather/bandits/rogue shinobi hired by a competitor/wild animals/freak acts of the local kami because you forgot to pay tribute to their shrine last week.
The technology of pre-Boruto era is also still stuck in the *horse and wagon* stage, meaning you have caravans of this stuff moving on very strict, long term schedules, which means these are jobs that the village can charge per day or week on the road on top of the base price estimated from the level of risk to the shinobi. You have merchants who are going to give preferential treatment to the village of their home nation if they can, both because you Don’t Insult The Local Fire Breathers/Rock Gougers/Storm Summoners/Etc but also because the villages themselves likely offer discounts for natives of their country, or even contracts that are essentially subscription deals for those who have multiple caravans going out at the same time, multiple times in a year. A “pay this much up front and we will ensure that several shinobi are always on standby to guard one of your caravans” kinda deal. It’s been implied multiple times in the shows that the majority of any shinobi village’s workforce are chuunin and that jounin’s are elite, and C/B-ranks are literally stated in the wiki to be usually given to teams of Chuunin or sometimes two genin teams and their jounin pairing up for a joint operation. Chuunin are going to make their careers on guarding caravans, dealing with bandits, clearing road hazards, etc. If Chuunin are the majority of your workforce, then missions that chuunin can take are going to be, by necessity, the largest cashflow coming into your village.
If a war between two or more countries is happening, all of that gets heavily restricted because of the risk of infiltration, heavily impeded from road destruction and wartime front lines, or straight up *shut down* from lack of money and manpower to take those missions.
Can you see what I’m getting at now when I say Kishi’s peacetime line is stupid.
And here comes another fun aspect of this. Because where the money flows, so does the cultural norms. Now a lot of fics I’ve seen emphasize the child soldier thing and also how D-ranks are very likely a way to acclimate the genin to mission work while also training civilians to see ninja as Friendly Safe Workers who happen to have magic powers and knives. But the thing is, all of that work on acclimating the civilians to view their local shinobi as Safe To Hire is going to go out the window if you remind them too often that these people are literal killers for hire. Merchants are not going to want to hire Infamous Killers because that says to their customers and their potential business partners that they themselves are shady and possibly approve of murder to get their way. Poking at D-ranks briefly, farmers aren’t going to want to hire potentially unhinged murderers to till their fields, and nobody is going to want to hire even the genin to *babysit their kids*.
So.
In order to attract reliable patronage from these low risk, well paying areas, the ninja villages had to *alter their public perception*. Assassination missions, kidnapping missions, extortion missions, all of those over time became short-term gain/long-term loss for the village. So they took them on less and less, and those kinds of missions became increasingly *socially unacceptable* even to the shinobi, because if the village doesn’t approve of it, it’s not a good thing. What assassination/sabotage missions we do see or hear referenced in canon are always, iirc, targeting someone that can the ninja can safely point at and say “this is a bad guy”. High ranking rogue shinobi from other villages or crime lords or despotic warlords being I think the majority (if not the entirety) of the few examples canon gives us. Those are people that, when civilians hear about them being assassinated, the civilians are going to say “good riddance” rather than “oh no!”. And if those missions are the only ones that the common shinobi hear about themselves or take on, then that’s what they are going to associate with those types of missions. A high risk job that is nonetheless seen as Morally Right, even if their moral compass hinges mostly on who is the friend or enemy of their home village.
I could also get into how this has really interesting implications for what the Warring State Era shinobi economics were like and how Hashirama and Madara making Konoha was basically inventing the concept of unionizing but I’m not going to side track to that because finally, FINALLY, we get to the ANBU Are Scary Thing.
Because this. This whole thing about how peacetime is actually where ninja villages make their bread and butter and how the push-pull of being Socially Acceptable for Money turning into Actual Moral Perception is where ANBU’s identity as the Scary Guys comes into play.
Now we don’t know when ANBU was actually founded in Konoha or any other village, but I’m going to ballpark and say it was *after* the First War because of a few key things we know about ANBU.
1. ANBU are Scary.
2. ANBU are known to specifically hunt other ninja (specifically Kiri has a Hunter-nin branch of ANBU but logically every village would have this).
3. ANBU work is extremely psychologically and physically grueling to their members and has a high fatality rate.
4. Whatever ANBU does is considered messed up even by ninja standards. An example that comes to mind is a filler flashback where Gai ends up running into Kakashi on an ANBU mission where Kakashi is basically putting down enemy ninja that are defeated and attempting to surrender and Gai is visibly distressed by this.
The First Shinobi World War likely rocked the Elemental Nations as badly or *worse* than WWI did for the real world, because this was the first time “war” was not defined as two or three noble lords throwing peasants with spears or the occasional ninja at each other or two or three shinobi clans having a protracted blood feud that they could only initiate when they weren’t busy trying to feed their own families. Assuming Konoha has the average number of shinobi clans that can be found in a shinobi village, that means we had somewhere upward of 55 clans from various countries throwing everything they had at each other on open battlefields, destroying large amounts of landscape, and causing shinobi and civilian casualties on a mass scale that even the most fire happy Uchiha could not have achieved on their worst day. This was also after Jinchuuriki became a thing, so this war was the first demonstration of what it’s like to essentially duct tape a nuke to an emotionally volatile child soldier and see what happens when you throw two or more of them into a battlefield.
The economy of the villages and their respective nations would have been in chaos after the war. Entire towns, roads, and bridges are straight up gone, chunks of landscape for miles around have been drastically rewritten, the death toll is high and the missing persons list is even higher and in the wake of this you’re going to have *every* would-be warlord and their grandfather getting uppity and trying to stake a claim on what they can of the wreckage. This includes Rogue Shinobi, likely the first real appearance of Rogue Shinobi in ninja history, at least on this scale. Lots of shinobi are going to be disillusioned from the war, exhausted, more than a few are mentally broken from the traumas, and all the ninja who have no moral compasses and dreams of power are looking at this and deciding “hey, now is a great time to become a warlord”. On top of all this, since most of the wartime missions were assigned by the villages themselves and not an outside client (with *very minimal* cash flow coming from the Daimyo himself since presumably the war was partially his idea, but even the royal coffers are not enough to run a military city the size of Konoha kthanks), the village coffers are likely hanging out somewhere between “Naruto’s childhood allowance” and “I can offer you lint”.
Obviously, these things need to be taken care of pronto, and with the villages scrambling to have the money to rebuild, the Kage in charge are going to be much more willing to take on dirty missions like assassinations, extortion, blackmail, *whatever* just to refill the village coffers. But. The ninja villages still need to keep their social acceptability in order to start getting their C and B ranks back, especially after the war opened everyone’s eyes to how destructive shinobi can really be in large numbers. They cannot afford to be seen killing left and right and the Rogue ninja are a huge stain on their village’s reputation, but openly advertising that “hey, if anyone leaves the village we’ll behead them” really isn’t going to do any favors for keeping the shinobi who are in the same mental space Tsunade was when she got fed up and left Konoha altogether.
And this, I think, is what gave rise to the existence of ANBU. The Kages picking their remaining highly skilled and most loyal followers, putting them in masks so that they cannot be easily identified by civilians, and sent out to quietly complete these high level, socially unacceptable missions. They were sent out to deal with Rogue shinobi and make them disappear without advertising to all the other traumatized village shinobi that their village is “serve or die” rather than the more patriotic “we fight for our home” that they were raised with. They were sent out to perform civilian assassinations, extortion, whatever they were offered in order to shore up the village’s shaky economy of the time and enable the Kage to pay their soldiers.
Then, after the economy stabilized, the ANBU just kinda … never left. Because by then the respective Kage had realized that being able to take on these kinds of missions with high pay and no loss of social acceptability was useful, and in the wake of the First War with everyone being simultaneously paranoid of their neighboring country but also on eggshells to not start another war, the anonymity of ANBU became a convenient way to keep an eye on each other and subtly attempt to sabotage the other when it looked like they were getting too powerful. The next two Great Shinobi Wars only solidified ANBU’s role in the hidden villages for those very same reasons, even though I would argue that they were ultimately a Bad Idea because they put too much power in the hands of the Kage without their village clans being able to hold them responsible, and that’s how we get stuff like Danzo™ and the crimes committed by Danzo™ and the Sandaime against the Uchiha. The existence of ANBU and the ability to “anonymously” jab at each other also just encouraged the animosity between the Great Shinobi Villages, and allowed warmongers (Danzo™) to ensure that an actual peace never fully settled in until the 4th Shinobi War happened.
And the peace post the 4th war, by the way, SHOULD have been a huge boom in the popularity and use of shinobi rather than the detriment that the Boruto manga/anime insists on for like- all the reasons stated in the economics part of this rant as well as the rise of CORPORATIONS that would happily pay a lot for shinobi in a host of different capacities and also people paying for shinobi to pretty please come help rebuild our destroyed homes and farmland with your fancy ninja powers.
It’s also canon that several shinobi retired and went into other professions in the wake of this peace and alliance, such as *acting*, which opens up an entire potential slew of missions geared specifically toward movie producers using their new technologies and their bigger budgets to hire shinobi as stuff like stunt doubles, live special effects artists (need to rehearse but the set isn’t done yet? No problem!! Just hire someone with *genjutsu* to make your actors the ultimate set/stage), *makeup artists* (hey those infiltration skills come in handy in a lot of ways), and more. And that’s just one “modern” profession off the top of my head that would adore having Magic Ninja People available for hire.
I’m sure I’m missing a ton of potential peace time jobs and economic implications because again, I only research this stuff in relation to worldbuilding fictional places. But there we go, I have just gone a 3k rant about ninja economics in order to explain why ANBU are Scary. I hope ya’ll enjoyed.
A side note I couldn’t find a good spot for in the actual rant but another factor in the shinobi villages having to change their behavior and seem Socially Acceptable is because of the rise of civilian-born shinobi in their genin/chuunin ranks. Because there’s no way a civilian family is going to *want* their child to become a murderous psychopath. A competent, magic wielding defender of your merchant uncle’s caravans on the other hand…
Other rants I need to do at some point when my braincells aren’t mush are:
1. My personal HCs on Konoha’s orphanage/foster system (aka Hi, Let Me Give You More Reasons To Hate Sarutobi Hiruzen)
2. Ninja Economics Two: Warring States Boogaloo (Edit: now available here!)
3. Why Cannibal Space Ninjas Are The Stupidest Idea of Multiple Stupid Options
4. Boruto Ninja Cults: What Kishi Could’ve Done Instead of the Garbage We Got
5. Genin Corps (Aka Reasons Kishi Could’ve Given for Why No One Thought Kabuto Was Suspicious But Didn’t. Aka Ninja Economics 3 Babyyyyyy)

Domi interview, part 4
(just to give a heads up, at the end he talks about his dad, it's kinda heavy!)
About Darwin and other strikers
Interviewer brings up Darwin, his ability to score so many difficult goals, yet missing tap-ins. Asks Dominik if he thinks Darwin transforms Liverpool into a whole other team, or does he rather prefer when it's either Gakpo or Jota in front of him, when he can do shorter passes to them. (Darwin is basically chaos ball himself)
D: "It depends who is in front of me. If it's Darwin, then I will try to provide him him with those deeper balls, if it's Cody or Jota, then I do the shorter, smaller passes. It does depend on the opposition as well, if we are behind goals or not. For example, against Newcastle, (...) Darwin came on, they serviced him with those balls and he scored two. For me, it doesn't matter who plays in front of me."
About the comparision with Gerrard
The interviewer thinks it's a bit too early to draw such comparisions between the two of them, after all, Gerrard was world class, a scouser, who played for LFC for a decade, he was the captain. Asks Dominik if it bothers him, puts extra pressure of him, or rather motivates him, what is his opinion about it.
D: "I don't mind it. There are a very few things people can bother me with, this is definietly not one. I just want to do it on my own way. (mentions another interview, the one he did with Nike and with little kids, where he was asked about the same thing). It feels very good that I'm being compared to him, but I want to make my own journey. If someone would say, here, this is Gerrard's whole career, you can have and achieve the same thing, I would be more than glad to do so. But I want to make my own journey.
I: "You want to be the first Szoboszlai Dominik, not the next Steven Gerrard."
D: "Yes."
About his relationship with his dad
D: "It wouldn't work with anyone else [the stricktness his father raised him with]."
I: "Was it that bad?"
D: "Very."
I: "Then how did it work out for you? You say, only your own expectations motivate you."
D: "Yes, but when you are 12, you can't go by your own expectations. You have to do what your dad tells you to do."
I: "How were you able to change your mindset from that? What was the moment, when you said, I no longer want to live up to the expectations my father has for me, but for my own?"
D: "I don't know. I don't want to say that when I first moved out, because I was only 15... let's say, when I was 18. When I was already playing for the first team of Saltzburg, playing in the CL, when I was already a grown up. I had to grow up very quickly."
Question about his other teammates in his dad's football club, if they would have able to handle the extra pressure his dad put on him.
D: "No. Not just physically, but mentally. We did the same trainings. Maybe, they didn't have that extra minutes [his dad used to train him individually too], but we all had dad for our coach, we did the same exercises in training, and he cared for their trainings all the same, but he was much stricter with me. If I messed up even just a tiny bit, he would scold me, but for the same thing, he wouldn't the others."
I: "And didn't that feel unfair to you?"
D: " Of course it did! To my 12-13 years old self, of course it did. Now, I understand it why he did it, but back then? Sometimes I used to hate him."
I: " Do you have any...?"
D: *interrupts* "No!"
I: " Do you ever feel like you missed out on some things in your youth?"
D: " No. We had a goal. He put me on the top, and so did I, because I believed him. This is how I grew up, how we grew up. This is the reason why I'm here, where I am now. This was the mindset. I put my everything into football, and ignored everything else. It was all about and only about football. I didn't have a comparison, I didn't know anything else, just football, football."
I: "Complete isolation?"
D: "Yes. Just like the horses [only seeing strictly forward]. A day consists of 24 hours. You sleep 8 hours, work 8 hours. 1 hour each for breakfast, lunch, dinner. We are at 19 hours gone already. An hour to get ready for the day, to go to bed. You have only 4 hours to do what you want. Somebody uses that 4 hours to go out, drink, maybe party. Or study for 4 hours. Or play football. Next day, the same thing."
I: "When was the moment, as you have said, that it was decided, that you belong on the top, and you will get there?"
D: "For my dad? Probably the moment I was born." [laughs]
I: "For others?"
D: " There wasn't a specific time. I became good, because I had the ball by my feet all the time. If i didn't have that much of training, I would have been never this technical. (...) I trained a lot. Up until I was 14, technique is all we cared about. Only technique. This was our goal, that's why I developed my tecnique in such a manner. My goal wasn't to be the best amongst the boys of Székesfehérvár (his home town). That was not what I wanted. What I wanted is that when I play at Liverpool, then I will be able to hold my ground."
I: "Your father said this already a lot of times, that he never praised you. I'm interested, in this case, where does the motivation come from? You look up to your father, he is the one, who makes you achieve things, but he hardly ever praises you. I know, some say working under pressure can produce great results. But does it work, when it's constant? He was joking around about this, when you won the German Cup, he finally said congratulation. I guess it's not that bad, but do tell me, if that's the case."
D: "It's very bad."
I: Is he old-fashioned/ does he rule with an iron fist? (something about this kind of lines, basically asking if he is really that strict)
D: "No,no, well, he is very hard [strict]. He didn't praise me, because he didn't want me to be satisfied with myself."
I: "Were there truly 'danger' in being satisfied with yourself?"
D: "Well, I never tried it." [lauhs]. It was very, very, very rare that he would say 'congrats', like he did when we won the German Cup. Not like he would send me a long text, saying how proud he was, not like that, never."
I: "Don't you miss that? Like, let's say you win the Champions League..."
D: " If he won't say congrats then, I will sit him down and speak to him about it. But no, I don't know what it feels like. I know players, and this is not a bad thing at all, who probably had parents, who I don't know, used to congratulate to their kid if he brought the dirty plate to sink. Maybe he would do that to me too, because I never do it actually. [laughs] But we took a direction, where hardly anything was enough, so he only congratulated me with real, big achivements, like German Cup, signing for Liverpool."
I: "The current mindset in our world is that you have to praise your child, when they do something good. But for you, it was the not like that."
D: "To be honest, we did everything differently [than normal people do], everything was the opposite."
I: "For the both of you, for you to put up with that and for him, to be consistent with it, it would have broke other people."
D: " It was not easy, putting up with it. It was very hard."
I: " Did it change, when you signed for Liverpool? After all, there is enough of a pressure with that, did he stop putting his [pressure] on you?"
D: " There was a turning point. He used to call me, after every match, telling me what I did wrong, what I did right. Now, I knew when I played shit. You don't have to tell me that, I know it, what mistake I did, when I should have shot, what I did wrong. Then, he would call me, when I was 18-19 years old, already knowing that, well, then I would found that big, red button on my phone and press it. By that, he would know, stop. In time, he realised he shouldn't do that, I mean, he doesn't know what the coach is telling me to do.
Yeah, in time, he realised it not to call me after every match. I will call him.
I: " And are you a good boy, do you call him?"
D: " I do, after every match."
...
Well, the dad part was kinda heavy :D

MY BOUNDARIES <3
So a little PSA going forward btw! This isn't meant as a call out or anything, but a stating of boundaries with my page and communication, as well as some clear ups!
I am incredibly mentally ill and autistic, with memory loss and attention disorders, so if we communicate and things are a little wonky, let me know! Sometimes I'm unaware what I'm saying may be a little rude, so please kindly let me know!
Boundary 1: Please do not ask me to review game items of yours or someone else's! I currently am trying to simply exist in this world by eating, drinking, and showering, so I may not have time to read your games, even if they're really short. I think that, for me right now, it puts a lot of pressure on me that I just cannot deal with right now.
Boundary 2: Please do not ask for advice or tips unsolicited unless through an ask. Again, because I'm a slow texter and have memory loss, I may not be able to get back to you, and I'd much rather you just ask publicly than privately.
Boundary 3: Please no unsolicited DMs. I have learned the hard way many people on this app who DM me wanting something, trying to strike up conversations, or love bomb you, are trying to get something out of you, and I'm kinda tired of it, frankly. Some people who have DMed me have become cool peeps I can talk to, but some have manipulated me and used me, and when I was of no use, discarded me. Because of this, please ONLY DM me if I have expressed a want to otherwise! (This is for mostly random people I don't know, so if we're already talking, we should be good!)
Boundary 4:This kinda goes without saying, but please do not interact with me if you are a minor. This is an 18+ page.
Boundary 5: This one may sting for some people, but it's my personal boundary and it has nothing to do with people individually. I do not wish to be called a "friend" of yours unless I myself call you that. It's a term I hold quite dear and hold for a VERY few people. I'm more like an acquaintance to many people or even just one step up from stranger. Again, it does not mean I don't like you, I just hold friendships super close to my heart, and I've been burned calling people friend who truly are not mine.
Boundary 6: This one is kinda twofold. I want people to know that if my boundaries are crossed after warning, I will block you. My mental health cannot take constant violations of my boundaries, and thus I have to enforce them. The next is that I will ALWAYS restate a boundary with someone, because I'll never expect anyone to know a boundary without them knowing, so if it happens, I'll let you know, sometimes more than once if I know you well enough.
Boundary 7: I will ALWAYS talk about politics or human rights issues, so if you have an issue with that, please do not interact with me. I do not wish to be comrades with those who are "apolitical".
And that's it! I know it's a ton, but like I said, I'll never expect anyone to know automatically what my boundaries are, so if ya mess up, I'll let ya know very kindly!
I'll also have this up on my pinned post so that way people can know exactly my boundaries are!
Have a wonderful day to y'all, and to my fellow disabled and mentally ill baddies out there; you are absolutely loved, and please don't drive yourself to spiral because your feelings are ALWAYS valid (this goes to me too lol).

I joined Threads! Unfortunately my reach on Insta is still the most limited of all of my socials, and that’s the account Threads is directly attached to.
If you’re on either Insta or Threads, would love if you could stop by🙏
Direct linking to Threads doesn't seem to work...so here's
my Instagram
through which you can find my Threads account!
Edit: You actually can link to Threads, ironically through the icon at the top of individual Instagram account pages on desktop. Though Desktop viewing is currently limited to individual pages, and you can't necessarily scroll the feed. So here's my Threads page!
~~
Next, some initial thoughts on the platform for those who are kinda curious what this new thing is. Not at all an expert, just some info I've gathered myself, that I'd personally have liked to know before joining:
On Threads
・It launched July 5~6, 2023. Rollout varies by country.
・Twitter's already upset about it, apparently there's a lawsuit. So I guess it considers Threads a possible threat.
・It's run by Meta, same folks as Insta and Fb.
・The accounts are directly linked to Instagram, which has its pros and cons. You need an Insta account to make a Threads account, but if you already have an Insta account, it's very easy to make a connected Threads account. However, once linked, they're linked; you can't disable your Threads account without also disabling your Insta account. You can also automatically follow all the accounts you're already following on Insta, to be activated as they make Threads accounts. You can also share Threads posts to your Insta stories.
・Currently only on mobile app, hoping the'll make it desktop accessible soon
・The current audience mostly seems to be folks who have come direct from Instagram. This means yes, a lot of official/influencer accounts, but also a lot of artists/small creators too.
Functionality
・Right now, the "feed/dashboard" is a hot mess. It's just one massive algorithmic spew, no way to curate it, no way to see just the posts by the folks you're following, not even chronological. These are things that i personally require in a social media, so yeah it sucks rn. HOWEVER, they did state that they're working on a "followers only" feed, much like the one on Instagram. If they implement a Followers Only feed like Insta, it'll at least be much better than Twitter's current "Following" feed. There has been no timeline provided on when this may launch.
・It functions much the same as Twitter, with options to create new posts, and like, retweet, quote retweet, and reply to posts made by others. (There's still a lot of floundering about the exact terminology to use, since it's not twitter so you can't "retweet" etc)
・500 Character word limit per post, which is much more than Twitter, ey!
・Up to 10 images per post, doesn't seem to cause image quality reduction either. Rather than being able to arrange the images like on Tumblr though, they're all automatically in a carousel that you can see by swiping.
・Your bio can be the exact same as what's on your insta, but currently only shows followers. In order to see who you follow, you tap "followers" and then when the menu opens, swipe to "following." Then, you can tap on the individual accounts to view their pages. This is currently the only way to ensure you see the posts from certain accounts, because there's no guarantee they'll show up on your feed, and it's a huge pain. But again, they're hopefully working on a fix for this.
My understanding is that the app rushed to launch now, since Twitter is a dumpster fire and people are fleeing. (why is it a dumpster fire? Well, Musk implemented a randomly fluctuating tweet view limitation, which is dumb af, but means it's essentially become unusable to folks who use the platform a lot)
I'm hoping that there'll be improvements to Threads and it'll become a viable Twitter alternative, but until then...yeah we'll keep an eye on it.
Now that I've probably completely turned you off from downloading the app, if you do, a nudge that again I'd appreciate if you stopped by my account, YukiPri_Art on Instagram, and/or YukiPri_Art on Threads!

Hi I'm new and Im already liking the way you write for slender and offender.
So what about splendor? Friends, lovers, enemies, kinda thing.
Love
Splendor doesn’t have any expectations of ever having a lover, nor a specific type of person he desires. Who he ends up with, really does come down the chance.
Though there are some people he would be more compatible with than others.
Someone sweet, funny, easily excited, or maybe even shy would make a great match for him. They do say that birds of a feather tend to flock together.
On the other hand, if you are a criminal, someone whose name spells danger or mischief, he won’t ever take much of an interest in you.
While Splendor has grown up in an environment full of crime and structure, he doesn’t have any desire to have that in his life. What he wants is a comforting, relaxing life with little to no worries.
He wants to dress you up, spoil you and please you and would go above and beyond for you.
And yet, despite his strong urge to spoil you, he doesn’t need to be around you constantly. He loves spending time with you, it gives him plenty of pleasure, but life needs to involve many small fun elements. So, he wants both himself and his partner to have hobbies, interests, and passion. Fun outside the relationship.
If you are an obsessive little hobbyist or simply have something that brings you a great deal of joy, that sparkle in your eye, is bound to catch his attention.
A sweet passionate partner is definitively his cup of tea, but so is an anxious mess. He finds those types of people to be cute in their own way.
He doesn’t want to scare others like his brothers do, though by nature feels both satisfaction and pleasure from being able to create such feelings in others.
Friendship
As an extrovert with plenty of interests, he visits a lot of social places. His friends include artists, elderly folks at bingo night, and random people one might pass on the street.
At the mansion, a place he visits reluctantly he has a few people he tends to spend time with. Both Jason and Bloody Painter enjoy the arts in their own individual ways, spending time with them brings them can be fun.
While Sally and Toby have their own different individual niches. Sally is probably his favorite friend at the Mansion.
In a sense beings like her play a large part in why he visits. He might as well bring a bit of joy to that depressing place.
Murder
No. Just no.
Murder, killing, hurting others, or bringing suffering to anyone is not something he desired to do ever.
Why others do it when it is not necessary baffles him. Self-defense or protecting a loved one is understandable to him but ending a life for the sake of it isn’t.
Instead of killing, he would rather negotiate or resolve the conflict in an effective way that will not start an inter-generational feud. Splendor has learned a lot from watching his siblings.

Trick or treat! Veth!! 💛
Treat! Had this in mind for a few days - though it's mostly Veth/Yeza modern AU fluff <3
--
“Honey?”
“Yeah?!” Veth hollers, bagging the sandwich and fruit slices and maybe a couple chocolates and neatly crimpling the bag shut. Sure, their apartment is right above his shop, so he could just make himself something in the kitchen… but she likes giving him a hand-packed lunch. It’s the little things. Especially today, when he has a meeting with those pharmaceutical bigshots. Her heart swells with pride - her Yeza, her smart man.
Yeza rounds the corner, still in his nightshirt, with one of the button-downs she hasn’t seen in a while thrown over his arm. “I - oh, thank you -” Even years later, he loses his train of thought when he sees her sometimes. Just has to pause and plant a kiss to her temple. She’s the luckiest woman in the fucking world for every moment she can make this genius speechless.
Still. There was something like worry in his tone, and he can’t be worried now of all times. She won’t let that be. “What is it, Yeza?”
“Oh! Yes.” He presents the shirt to her, pointing out a missing button, the threads sticking out like splinters or shards of bone. (Veth has to blink that away.) “Do you know if we have any spares? I know these things usually come with one or two, but I didn’t want to mess up your collection. Or steal from it.”
“Stealing’s fine.” Veth dismisses it with a wave of her hand. “Besides! You wouldn’t find it there anyways.”
Yeza blinks. “Oh.” And then, “Oh. Why?”
How, he asks, because he’s her husband and he knows her. He knows that she has thousands of buttons - big ones, little ones, rare antiques, modern takes, the whole shabang. She’s taken them from blouses and pants, labcoats and purses, craft sections and trash cans, even well-dressed fucking teddies. Thoudands - a pretty fucking great collection, and one she’s proud of.
He knows, and he knows she’d never pass up on a button. Not even the most bland and boring and beat-up ones. (Those were a little too much like a little girl forgotten in the back of every family picture, and she treasures those most. Well. Almost most.)
Point is. Veth? Not having a button she had easy access to in her collection? Definitely cause to ask why.
So Veth pulls out her necklaces.
It’s all buttons, of course. And she’s pretty sure Yeza is vaguely familiar with the mess of them, if not the individual dimes and moons and eyes of color.
She points to one - kinda squished behind two big flat ones - and pries it into the light with her nails. And then she pulls the necklace over her head, the familiar clatter some sort of protest.
“I kept it here,” she says, already fiddling around for her knife - well, some people would call it a dagger. “Not to be weird or anything. Just - all the ones from your shirts. Or Luc’s. They’re just spares, right? And I figure, if I have them on me, part of you is with me. Always.”
That always hangs between them, heavy. The buttons move in her hands. Click-clack. She gets to finding the right thread to cut the one Yeza needs loose. “Anyways! It’s silly. And means that if you need them, I have them here. Here:”
There it is. She angles her knife to cut the beige button loose. The needle and thread should be in - which drawer was it -
Yeza’s hand is on hers. Gentle, but firmly easing the blade’s edge away from the button.
“Always,” he echoes. Clears his throat. “Actually - you keep it. I’m sure there’s another fancy shirt I could wear.”
“Are you sure?” Veth asks, oddly shrill. Not sure why. “Sure? Because - Luc didn’t do the laundry last, night, and -”
He squeezes her hand, runs a thumb over her knuckles. His eyes are creased so perfectly, shiny (the best, crisp black buttons) behind his glasses.
“I’m sure, honey.”
Yeza eases the necklace back over Veth’s head, smoothing the buttons among their kin on her chest. And then he’s rushing off for another shirt, yelping when Veth slaps him on the ass as he scrambles past.
🎃Trick or Treat! Send me an ask and you'll get a trick (angst) or treat (fluff) ficlet in return! 🎃

It sure was a Choice by Miles to include a cognihazard designed to obliterate the brains of anyone slightly critical of the show in episode 4. I'm just so curious whether he genuinely thought it would be funny or it was some weird malicious bent. I assume former given how the cat was otherwise treated, though none of the comedy worked for me.
I think it was meant to function both as comedy and an argument. We already have a ton of humor in Volume 9 that in no way breaks the 4th wall by acknowledging critics' (supposed) complaints, but even beyond that you don't just stumble into the "joke" of addressing the disappointed members of a fanbase... and you don't include that "joke" unless you intend to disagree with them.
So yeah, I think Miles assumed it would be funny with the humor stemming from the expected response of, "Oh my god that's ridiculous. Who's upset about that??"
The actual answer "No one." If we read the scene as a kind of argument from the writers, it's a strawman's argument: exaggerated and simplified to make it easier to refute. Notably, everything the Cat mentions are things that critics aren't concerned with. Or, to be more careful with my words because it's a big Internet and I'm sure someone, somewhere has brought these issues up, these examples are by no means representative of critics' primary concerns. We don't care that Ozpin is sharing a body with Oscar (that lives in the realm of other suspension of disbelief questions like, "When are the characters going to the bathroom?"), but rather that they're at the center of the cosmic narrative instead of the girls, the merge still isn't explained, Oscar's development has mostly happened off screen, etc. No one cares that Remnant had a floating city - to my mind that's a good idea to avoid the majority of the grimm - but rather that it was used as the symbol for a shoddily written classism arc and then plowed into the city below with our heroes now barely acknowledging that. Few fans care about Ciel specifically (beyond those individuals who understandably thought she might show up in the Atlas arc), they care about what she represents: a bloated cast where, as the Cat themselves say, characters rarely come back in a notable way.
The point of this scene is to make up/simplify/distort criticism until you have a list of ridiculous complaints and then go, "See how ridiculous they are? People upset with the show are so funny." Note that one of the REAL concerns acknowledged in the episode - the question of whether our protagonists are good huntresses - is immediately answered with a firm, unambiguous "Yes." Blake, Yang, and Weiss all speed-run a self-reflection arc in a matter of literal seconds, going, "You're questioning whether we're the heroes? Of course we are! I know exactly who I am, I have no doubts, and you are wrong to question our role as huntresses." The exception to this is Ruby who starts to take the question seriously... only for the Cat to interrupt, "saving" her, and painting the Caterpillar as the bad guy in the process.
Seriously, the ending of that scene frames someone making the girls reflect on their actions for once as an attack that needs to be stopped and that right there highlights the "protagonist centered morality" problem of Volume 6 onward.
Now, some otherwise well-written shows can get away with a scene like the Cat's and it comes across as the writers being playfully self-reproachful. "Yeah, we know we messed that up. Our bad. Let's laugh about it together and move on, yeah?" and the audience agrees because no story is perfect and you've done a good job on the whole. RWBY doesn't have that leeway though and, given the rest of the episode scoffing at one of the biggest concerns of Volume 8, the implication is not that the writers are humbly aware of their own inevitable mistakes, but that they just thoroughly disagree that they've made them. Anything they have kinda messed up - Ozpin-Oscar body, floating Altas, Ciel - is so minor and silly as to hardly be worth mentioning outside of a joke.

From best to worst individually, how good are the Trix at commanding, channeling and harmonising?
Thank you for the lore questions!! Fun fact I'm making a lore bible with now with some major rewrites and somethings that are exactly the same, and that will be out... Before next year XD
The notes are about 7,000 words right now and I can say with complete certainty that it will be over 10,000 by the time I'm done XD I've already broken it down by part to make it easier to explain. Focused, thriving, moisturized, in my lane, ect ect. Excited for that, I'll rewrite this when I finish my lore
Icy: Commanding, Harmonizing, Channeling
Icy is a straight up prodigy at commanding magic. She uses cold air and water in the air to make her ice and throw it at people. That takes an insane amount of control!! Stormy is also really good at it, making lighting is hard, but she gets to start with air and wind being already present. Icy has to MacGyver that shit. Icy is theeee baddest bitch. As for harmonizing if she had literally any other domain she'd suck massive dick at it, I mean she'd be TERRIBLE. Icy just really REALLY vibes with ice in particular, both physically and metaphorically, making it extremely easy for her to harmonize with ice/cold. She kinda views the cold as an extension of herself, so it's almost second nature to her. Adding Bloom's power to her massively fucked up her ability to do that btw bc there was something foreign was in her. As for channeling magic she's still really good at it! Remember in s2 where she nearly killed Sky in RF by, I think it's implied that she kinda internally freezes him??? Yeah but she's good at that too. It requires more thought than the first two that she's a genius in and she can do by instinct but that only makes a difference of a couple seconds. Icy is EXTREMELY good at magic
Stormy: Harmonizing, Commanding, Channeling
It's really funny to say Stormy "chaos reigns" is good at harmonizing but that's exactly why she's good at it. Baby girl IS the storms. She's like the concept lightning tornados were a person, and said storm magic reacts to her back like that. They GET each other. Relating to that, Stormy is obviously far less controlled about her magic. Stormy intuits her magic, the only thing she's really intentionally controlling is her lighting bolts, otherwise she's just pulling at the magic and letting it do what it wants while pointing it in the direction of whatever she wants dead. On that note, channeling, channeling a large wild source of magic into a little box is literally the worst thing in the world for Stormy. She sucks ass at it. Like. Barely passing her requirements sucks at it. She's all like, fuck OFF storms are not meant to be contained in tiny little magic stones, immediately die about it. And then the teacher tells her to stop being insubordinate and just do the assignment
Darcy: Channeling, Commanding, Harmonizing
I feel like Darcy is at her best in combat when she's not a powerhouse. Icy and Stormy are already power houses, we don't need all three of them to be. Darcy's commanding and channeling magic are at the same level. She's not Icy levels of good at either but still extremely good. She uses her commanding magic to throw things around and attack from multiple directions and basically uses it to influence her environment physically, and channeling magic to use things inner darkness to cause havoc. She deserves a unique fighting style her magic is so cool. As for harmonizing. You remember in s1 where she pretended to be Stella and was SO TERRIBLE AT IT??? Remember in s2 when only Icy was any good at pretending to be a normal CT witch??? Darcy is good with physical darkness, she's great with messing with internal darkness, she's TERRIBLE at the trickster parts of darkness. Like. Blowing up Riven and gaslighting him into falling in love with her wasn't even HER idea, IT WAS ICYS!! She sucks at harmonizing, she's much better at it than Stormy is at channeling, she can mostly do it but it's not very good. It's passable. High C, low B grade

Hi. So, I just so happen to come across the asks about Coco discourse, and I know those are almost a year old and I'm super late to the party, but I feel compelled to talk about it, because even though I do get the valid criticism to the film, I felt that some takes are kinda out of place? And I just had to say anything.
Like, yeah. I understand the outrage at Disney trying to trademark Día de Muertos and how, even if it didn't happen, it could potentially lead to the exploitation and capitalization of Día de Muertos.
On the other hand, I did think it's like a stretch to say that it panders to the diaspora than to nationals (I didn't know how else to word it, sorry if it sounds weird). I'm not familiar with the diaspora, but to my defense, I found those anons to be very out of touch with us that are non diasporic.
Like, when anon said that the U.S. is individualistic, unlike México "that is collectivist and seeks out the betterment of the whole group" I couldn't help to laugh at such idealization. I may sound salty, but it just sounded exactly like those orientalist takes that are like "oh the Japanese are a power because they're so collectivist, we should be more like them" (while ignoring the negative consequences such collectivism has to the population) but for México. Like, it's true that the U.S. is individualistic as fuck, but because of that, it should go without saying that the bar is on the ground when you compare it to other countries and cultures. It's true that us Mexicans are more collectivist, but only marginally and in a very messed up way. Like, yeah, we're generally solidary and love hospitality, but if it's more convenient to be individualistic, we tend to be pretty selfish and inconsiderate as well. Not to run on the opposite direction, but the ugly part of Mexican collectivism is that it can be motivated by the individual gain one gets out of it and not mainly for the benefit of the group (not saying that we're actually self serving and selfish but that to say we're always looking for the benefits of others first and foremost is a massive misunderstanding of our culture and a sugarcoating of it).
On one hand, I get where they're coming from, but the film resonating to their particular diasporic experiences doesn't mean that is inherently and deliberately diasporic and it doesn't feel Mexican.
Like yeah, I hated that they picked and chose regarding the lore and gave so much importance to photographs when before this century they were basically a luxury (I guess that they needed higher stakes, imho it would have been easier had it not been so sanitized and standardized to a degree) and the tradition exists even before photographs were a thing anyways, and they just had to go and turn Mictlán into a bureaucratic hell (like, again, I get it, conflict and such, but the afterlife being so mundane just kills it, no pun intended, even more so because bureaucracy is already a problem for us the living). I know that they want to reach out the largest demographic possible and of course Disney is quick to sanitize stuff, but they took more creative liberties than I would have wanted.
But even if it's obvious that this project was led by foreigners (like with Dante being a stray dog; yes xoloescuintles are an important part of Día de Muertos, but there's no way a xoloescuintle would end up a stray dog) I just can't deny how the blatant Mexican input does show up. Not to disregard the problematic aspects, but there's more nuance to it.
And as I was saying, I get where the people from the diaspora are coming from, but for me as a Mexican, the conflict of Miguel with his family felt so unambiguously Mexican. Or at least, concerning the larger demographic of working class Mexicans that live in pueblos that aren't really rural but not heavily urbanized either. Growing up as a working class, non white, non indigenous Mexican in a globalized world, makes your cultural identity something hard to deal with. Ever since Mexico begin to grow and become urbanized, there has been this contradictory discourse of modernity vs tradition, in which we as Mexicans should move on from the old, "outdated", "inferior" ways and traditions, (and such ways are more often than not, the ways of non white and indigenous, working class Mexicans) and strive for more modern, "advanced", "superior" ways of Europeans and Americans... but don't do that too much because other than those "primitive" ways, our culture is perfectly fine. I get it that it reminds of the diaspora of "the culture of my parents vs the culture of my country", but there's a similar situation with average Mexicans too.
I'm not saying that Coco properly covers that, it's not that deep. But the way that Miguel wants to pursue an uncertain and risky career path, instead of the secure, familiar and traditional family occupation, is something I'm too familiar with and something that I see too often (even if it's not necessarily about music; tell your parents that you're planning on getting a social science/humanities degree and they will probably tell you you're gonna end up starving). There's the fear of the parents about their children not landing a job after they graduate or their children also eventually ditching family traditions and the like because they came to consider that the modern, urban ways are better. But there's also something that went without mention by the anons, and it's how it's too common for Mexican parents to see their children as an extension of themselves, and their motivations to oppose their career path more often than not, may also come from a desire of keep controlling their children's life choices because that's relatively socially acceptable. I find it quite ironic how the anons mention that Miguel having different aspirations than those his family want him to follow feels more "americanized" because I've got to hear Mexican parents complaining about "bad foreigner (specially American) influences that make kids want to ditch their heritage and traditions and disrespect their parents" being the cause of their children wanting to follow non traditional paths and not, you know, the realization that we're our own person and our lives are not for our parents to live and control (which is also one of the central themes of The Book of Life, a film that was conceived and written by Mexicans, so yeah, that conflict is really frequent).
We still have a culture in which our parents are borderline venerated and family is sacred, and even if I do appreciate the importance given to family, it has led us to put up with toxic (and sometimes even abusive) behavior, and setting boundaries or standing up for yourself will surely be considered disrespectful, ungrateful or just plain rebellious. Imelda having her descendants carry on with her grudge does feel familiar to a degree too. I get the point of the anons of her working hard for the sake of the family, but her perpetuating the music prohibition through generations and refusing to let Miguel go back to the world of the living unless he gives up music, reminds me too much of the entitlement of parents and grandparents towards their descendants and the control they want to have over their lives. For me, Miguel refusing to obligue and clinging onto his passion for music in spite of his family's opposition, it's just a representation of younger generations stepping up and reclaiming that autonomy that the older generations didn't have because "this is just how things are". Him actually convincing them to let him pursue music is kinda unrealistic, but in a way it feels hopeful. I know that for more particular aspects, like the location, it may be unfamiliar to some, but México is really diverse and there's no way to cover all of it in just one film.
On a more meta level, all that initial debacle about Disney trying to trademark Día de Muertos left me with some more thoughts. Like, yeah, fuck the rat and the monopoly, but it did have positive consequences. Not so big, but they're there. Before Coco and the fiasco, Día de Muertos was gradually being sidelined and minimized. Not all over the country, as the southern states have always celebrated it (the southern states are overall more traditional), but in the rest of the country, and specially in urban areas, Día de Muertos was becoming less and less important the further north you went. Even if it's one of the most unique traditions of our culture, it was beginning to be perceived as one that the younger generation cared about because it was mandatory and not because they genuinely valued it. I've always liked it because I'm a nerd, but growing up during the 2000s and early 2010s, I mostly saw people my age treating Día de Muertos as this outdated, boring thing that wasn't as good as Halloween. I remember Halloween being controversial, but not out of satanic panic (or at least, for the most part), but because people feared that younger generations would eventually ditch Día de Muertos in favor of Halloween. It took an American greedy monopoly trying to get its hands on Día de Muertos for people to care about it again.
I'm not saying that the film single handedly saved Día de Muertos from being forgotten, but it did reignite the interest of the general population. It's kinda messed up that a considerable amount of the population only took that much interest after it received foreign attention, but I kinda expected it. Gentrification and capitalization are very much a problem, but since 2017 I've seen a genuine growing interest in Día de Muertos, so I'll take that as a win.

Noro and Tatara for the latest character ask please?
a necrophilia ship ask, huh... i'll try my best! LOL
norotara:
when I started shipping it if I did: literally never heard of this ship until you brought it up. very interesting, if a bit difficult to do so
my thoughts: well, it's another black and white aesthetic-type ship, and features the two quietest aogiri members. They're both very efficient in their own ways, and i like the image of tatara helping noro feed since the latter is... out of commission. tatara learning to care for a walking corpse because everyone he loves is already dead... there's something there.
What makes me happy about them: Well that's pretty easy. clears throat
ETO'S DAD IS ACTUALLY PRETTY RAD HE'S ALL I WANT, AND I'M OBSESSED JUST A TAD ETO CAN'T YOU SEE? YOUR DAD'S JUST THE GUY FOR ME I KNOW IT MIGHT BE BAD BUT I'M IN LOVE WITH ETO'S DAD
What makes me sad about them: they can't kiss with all the masks and rotting skin :(
things done in fanfic that annoys me: what fanfics
things I look for in fanfic: WHAT FANFICS
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: houji and shiono, i guess? i don't know.
My happily ever after for them: A quiet life, much like their demeanors, and surrounded by those who care about them, even if it doesn't amount to much.
who is the big spoon/little spoon: tatara is the big spoon.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity: relaxing in silence. there's a comfort to being understood without speaking.
----
:P here's the character versions
noro
How I feel about this character: Eto's dad, and an underexplored individual. I write him like he holds a few anti-imperialistic views that Eto would eventually inherit, since a journal from a dead woman isn't enough in my eyes. Also was extremely intelligent and only really lacked a proper education.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Uh...
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Him and Eto! I think they're neat together :]
My unpopular opinion about this character: Uh...... he's not very scary....?
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wanted his backstory with Eto explored. I need to know his parallels to Ryouko Fueguchi right now.
my OTP: him and shiono :] (half joking)
my cross over ship: none
a headcanon fact: when eto was at the orphanage, he pretended to be a stuffed mannequin in the corner of the broom closet. also, when he was noroi, he made a mean hamburger steak.
----
tatara
How I feel about this character: very cool! he should get his own spinoff series because he's almost a main character in like, a shounen or something i dunno LOL
All the people I ship romantically with this character: scratches head i mean kousuke houji is right there. why not. i intimately get it. i wonder why. also putting in a vote for one-sided etora. i want him prostrating himself before her, only for her to do nothing about it. i want that man like a doused, wounded dog.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: him and ayato :] little brother stand-in.
My unpopular opinion about this character: i guess... i like that he was killed by t-owl? giving him his wish of dying at houji's hand while allowing him to "get away" with all the things he did to get there would be kinda messed up.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I want to know about his relationships with arima and eto. who were they to him, and how did he fit into aogiri's power structure?
my OTP: sure i'll say houtata
my cross over ship: idk
a headcanon fact: he got his mouth sewn shut by eto, but she grew bored and never really finished the job. take that as you will.
----
thanks for the ask! LOL

AAA THANK YOU
I fricken love interactions bless you I actually had to sit here and decide which part I wanted to do
Or, "send in a ⭐star⭐  to have the author select a section they’ve been dying to talk about!"
SO, ADOPT A JOCK Ch. 5 Part 2, someone on A03 commented that the conversation between Steve and Eddie is almost reading like Steve is from the future (but they were hoping Steve was just identifying Eddie as special.) They were referencing the below exchange:
"The less anyone knows, the safer everyone is. Especially you."
"What does that mean!?" Eddie's voice grew loud for a second, and Steve hissed a word at him that Gareth couldn't make out but was probably "Shut it."
"Just promise me you will never explore that lab."
and I responded but now I'm going IN DEPTH because
Yes, Steve is recognizing that Eddie is a special bean, but at this time it's not so MUCH of his crush, as it is that even though Steve is friends with Gareth and Jeff, and has hung out with them individually at this point, Eddie is still his "main" friend and connection to Hellfire.
If he loses Eddie, he feels he might lose his connection to everyone else. He realized in this scene here that he trusts Eddie and what Eddie says. He trusts that Eddie wants him as a friend, and will accept him as he is (even with teasing and shit.) There's no ulterior motive.
Steve at this point has been rejected by Nancy and is in a weird place with her and Jonathan, is having a rough time with his parents (he's about to be strong-armed into the Scoops job so his home life with his parents is very tense and disapproving) and yes, he's still driving the kids around but also they're you know. Kids.
He doesn't have anyone to lean on--except Eddie.
It's still a very new thing, and our boi got dat anxiety. Sure he's hung out with Jeff and Gareth separately and he's getting closer to them at this point ( LIKES them in fact), but he also feels most comfortable with Eddie, and is very worried if he loses Eddie, he loses the rest of them too.
It's selfish and Steve knows that, but mentally he's a lil rocky, and just doesn't want to lose this person who accepted him so wholeheartedly, doesn't want to see what would happen to the rest of Hellfire if Eddie got hurt or died. He also knows that Eddie is a central core to so many people, has helped so many people and he doesn't want to come out and SAY that Eddie can't get hurt bc so many ppl love him so much.
Steve is ALSO very aware that if anyone was to explore the lab and get into trouble (instead of turning around or playing it safe) It'd be Eddie. This means Eddie is at a LOT higher of a risk of getting hurt or finding something he shouldn't.
There's also some guilt here--Steve doesn't want to go to the lab. He's never been, his challenge was the tunnels, but he's heard of what happened there. He's been physically dragged into this all once already, he doesn't want to do it again. Feels responsible bc HE knows whats up, and if he "LETS" Eddie go to the lab, he feels like HE has to be the one to pull them out.
Our boys got so much twisty feelings. He feels kinda abandoned, he's trying to find this new person he still wants to be, and he already knows he's not getting into college so it's just this mess of sad boi Steve Harrington hours, and one of his few bright spots is Eddie.
That got threatened and he panicked.
ANYWAY thank you spilled-jar for asking I really appreciate it I love talking about this shit (clearly) and also the person who commented the above on A03 because I love comments because it lets me go on about all this lol!

Tipiskaw Mall: A Disventure Camp AU
Been thinking about creating this for a while, and I decided to finally get it out there.
This one's kinda like a florist AU, but a bit more than that. The main focus is Ellie and Gabby, cuz c'mon it's me we're talking about, but there's some other characters and stuff I wanted to bring into this too. I'm always open to see people experiment with this AU, just be sure to credit me.
The basic gist is that a good amount of the Disventure Camp casts all work at a mall owned by Kristal together, and frequently bump into each other on shifts. It's because of this that a love starts to blossom between a bartender and a florist.
These are a few of the ideas I'm sticking by now:
Ellie
Tumblr media
Pretty similar to canon. She's your average ordinary low-class citizen. She works a tough job as a bartender at the local bar in the Tipiskaw Mall. She works long and hard shifts with unruly customers and an awful boss (we'll get to him). As a result she's constantly stressed and exhausted, and not really happy with her lot in life.
However one day she happens to discover that a new florist's has opened in the mall. Ellie happens to love flowers, especially fragrant ones - so she decides to check it out, and boom, she meets the owner, who happens to be the prettiest girl she's ever seen!
From then on, Ellie passes by the florist's every day on the way to and from her bartender shifts, just to get some time to say hi to her new friend - and she's got a few friends that'll help her out along the way.
Gabby
Tumblr media
Gabby is a more recent employee at the Tipiskaw Mall. Still her quirky, bubbly, nature-loving self, she's the owner of the new florist that has recently opened in the mall. She specializes in the most sweetly fragrant flowers she can get her hands on, and she knows a thing or two about the language of flowers as well.
While she's quite kooky and a bit on the socially awkward side, Gabby is an incredibly kindhearted individual who is happy to let Ellie come and visit every day - she knows it makes Ellie happy. And in return, Ellie comforts her over her insecurities - this isn't the first job Gabby has had, and the past few jobs she's had didn't exactly end well for her. She has some regrets with her past actions - but Ellie will help her face them. (Won't say too much here, but she probably has hurt at least ONE person who was cruel to animals.)
Every morning when Ellie comes to visit, Gabby gives her a bouquet of some of her favorite flowers as a gift - simply to let her know she's got her support. The two become incredibly close - and maybe something more can 'blossom' between the two of them.
Yul
Tumblr media
Surprised to see this guy here? Rare time I mention season 2 :P
Yul is Ellie's boss. A lazy individual, Yul is quite the penny-pinching and cruel boss, basically giving Ellie minimal pay and using the rest of his cash for party binges. He's also not really one to care for stopping stuff like bar fights - he's only really here for the cash and the good laughs.
Yul is also incredibly strict. If Ellie messes up even a little, he won't hesitate to absolutely lash her with beratements. He also forces her to do janitorial work at the end of each shift. This is mostly because the last janitor left due to being sick of Yul's attitude. Ellie would've done the same, but she's in such a bad place in her life that she needs SOME form of payment every day.
Yul pretty much immediately takes a disliking to Gabby for her bubbly, eccentric and kooky nature, and forbids her from entering his bar. As a result, Gabby ends up needing to sneak into the bar whenever she wants to see Ellie there. Over time, Ellie will learn to stand up to Yul.
Alec
Tumblr media
So I know he and Ellie ended up on iffy terms in canon but idc I'm still letting the two be on good terms in this AU
Alec owns a local bookstore in the mall that isn't far from Yul's bar. Having been through a divorce already in this AU, he's mostly looking to his future by working a job he enjoys. He's trying to convince Ellie that she can do the same - she just finds it tough breaking the cycle and escaping her bartender job knowing the difficult life position she's in.
Alec works alongside Grett, who is about as cantankerous and rude as she is in canon. He often needs to tell her to behave when she's making bad comments about Ellie, Gabby, or other people. Also hanging out at his job is Fiore, who mostly just runs around causing trouble and makes witty commentary on other people's bad decisions. Fiore has also picked up on the crushes Ellie and Gabby have gained on each other and just wonders when the hell they're gonna stop dancing around their feelings and actually start dating!
I'll go over some other stuff just in brief, cuz I don't wanna be here all damn night lol
James and Aiden are the co-owners of a local phones and electronics store. James is still a popular influencer, who self-funds all his crazy challenges through the profits from his store. Aiden, who's already been dating James for a while, is there to make sure James doesn't accidentally light himself on fire doing his challenges. They're both pretty good friends with Ellie, and she often turns to them for relationship advice.
Tom is the mall cop. Diligent and cool-headed, he's quite talented and is usually there to prevent any bad activity from getting out of hand. He frequently chases down Fiore whenever her trouble is getting too much, and comes to help Ellie when bar fights get out of control at Yul's bar. He's also one of the earliest people to make friends with Gabby, along with Ellie.
Jake is the manager of the mall's Hot Topic. He's still his emotional and impulsive self, and has a relationship with Tom. Tess is his co-worker, and she's usually able to help talk Jake and Tom through their relationship troubles.
Ally owns a local rental store for movies and video games. She works with her boyfriend Hunter and the poor former film actress Riya, who is still trying to find roles.
Karol owns a pet store where Gabby hangs out frequently. As you'd expect, Karol is grumpy, but she does get a soft spot for Gabby, and admires her passion for nature and animals. She helps convince her to work up the courage to ask Ellie out.
And Lill owns a toy store where Ashley, Will and Rosa Maria are her employees. They frequently end up having trouble with Fiore whenever she comes around with Alec. Lol.
Those are all I'm coming up with for now, but I'm sure I'll cook up some new ideas in future posts! Keep your eyes peeled - I'm pretty fond of this idea!
