US Elections are a scam. It is managed democracy to support a Totalitarian Capitalist dystopia. I don't even think you can credibly call it a Capitalist system at this point, because a Capitalist system implies an ability for one company to challenge the dominance of another company over a market, and by providing a better or cheaper product or service, can displace or replace the dominant company in a market. But that doesn't happen in many so-called Markets in the US dominated International Capitalist System. Instead, a dominant company remains dominant through the careful manipulation of the political economic system itself through a framework of corruption and legalized bribery built into the US Electoral system. So-called Special Interests, in other words Corporate Interests, dominate the Policy discussion. Historically, challengers to the system are harassed, cajoled, manipulated and bribed, and if still a problem, they are persecuted, imprisoned or assassinated by elements in the Deep State.
Democracy NEVER existed in the United States. From the beginning, Wealthy Aristocracy cemented their place in politics by giving Voting Rights only to White Male Landowners. As that political system became less viable over the years, new and more complex ways for the Ruling Class to control and manipulate those elections were found and added to the system even as the country supposedly "democratized" throughout the Progressive Era and Civil Rights Movement.
Today, the system is so peppered with control mechanisms for the Ruling Class, there is virtually ZERO chance of a true challenger to the Capitalist System to become an elected official to the Federal Government, let alone to become President or to take power in Congress. The maze of regulations and rules, the enormous amounts of money required, the various Party controlled electoral mechanisms all combine to act as a safety valve for the Ruling Class to maintain power in the face of Popular Opposition, regardless how popular it may be.
Elections may be real, but the process of putting your options on the ballot virtually guarantees the Ruling Class has the final say in who gets power and who doesn't.
That's not democracy, that's Fascism.

Try living in China, or Russia, or Saudi Arabia, or Iran.
You would be in prison for posting this.
This is a once in a lifetime event, and the majority of people in the country want to see it
It's not fascism. it's democracy in action.
I'm not a royalist, but I also see what the majority of people want, and accept this.
its soooooo democratic to have a head of state that hasn't been democratically elected, someone who has been told since birth that he is better than us because he was chosen by god and has the divine right to rule over us. thats exactly democracy in action
you're either dense or wilfully missing the point if you think I said "monarchy is fascism". I said detaining people without official reason and suppressing the right to protest and the fact the uk has no legally protected free speech is fascism
also I don't give a fuck what the majority of people want (which you're wrong about btw), this is my blog where I share my opinions hope that helps x

i have a genuine question, im not american and i dont really know your politics other than currently its trump vs biden but like. what are americans supposed to do this election?
cause afaik your system is basically a 2 party system at this point, not because other parties cant be elected but because not enough people vote for them to make votes worth being cast for them. like if you vote green youre tossing your vote out.
if biden is horrible, and trump is comically horrible, and no other parties can safely be voted for, then what are people supposed to do in the election? feel free to delete this or whatever but im just genuinely curious because from an outsiders view biden does *seem* like the lesser evil (dont get me wrong hes still evil), but also if you suggest voting blue then thats also apparently wrong
I'm probably not the best person to answer this, but I'll give it a shot.
The entire two party system in the US is an illusion, it's this facade they keep up to make people think we are a democracy. One of the two-party systems main functions, to me, is keeping people convinced that we can vote our way to any real systemic change. That voting is the only *real* way things should change, and this idea is so incredibly damaging to getting people to actually do something other than checking a box every four years. These fuckers in charge are banking on people believing in this system, fully buying into it is playing directly into their hands.
Direct action, collective action is what is going to create meaningful, substantial change. The protests in support of Palestine are an example, people blocking ships transporting weapons, people superglueing their hands to pavement to stop the macys parade, people attacking and vandalizing weapons manufacturer's facilities, flooding government offices with phone calls so that the phone doesnt stop ringing. These are just a few examples that are infinitely more meaningful than someone screeching "vote blue no matter who". And I'm really just pulling on recent events, I'm sure there is someone who can elaborate on what true direct action really looks like and lay it out more clearly.
I don't think me writing in Hatsune Miku on my ballot is like, radical or actually going to do anything. My conscience however forbids me from voting for someone who has consistently shown again and again that everything he says is a lie, everything he does is in service of capitalism and fascism, and everything he represents is everything I hate about this country. Joe Biden is a rabid dog who needs to be beaten to death with a stick, and frankly he's getting off easy with that in my opinion.

anarchist communism, here we go
in an anarchist society, from my perspective, everyone would be free to dictate their own lives. In capitalism, we are not free because we must work to get food to eat to live. In communism, you would not have to worry about needing to work, as you would merely just go to the store and get what you needed. If you want to make the argument of greed, fine. Human greed would still not destroy it. We would find our food and take it all back, probably leaving whoever took the food in the first place heavily damaged. In a democracy, there is a government that has too much power, where the people decide what laws are passed, no matter how restrictive they are of anothers rights. In addition, the leader we elect says words we like or dont like on the tv screen. They never fufill whatever they say, they just say it so they get into power. There are so many flaws in the system, and we can change them for the better. And what i said about demo, thats not even what democracy should be, thats what the US has. Bullshit around every corner in the upper class. From fascism hiding behind the veil of conservatism and cowards hiding behind liberalism so they can keep their power without upsetting anyone. From a government supported gang of criminals to murder in the name of religion to brainwashing children from age 5. In my eyes, revolution could fix all of it, with the death of the upper class and abolishment of hierarchy. The freedom to grow your own food or the freedom to get your own food for free or the freedom to never have to work will be in the grasp of the common people instead of the rich exploitees.

The spoils of imperialism that are handed out as a part of the social democratic (moderate wing of fascism) worker appeasement program can be just as easily rescinded as it appears to be handed out. The reason is simple: so long as the state consists of a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie, running on a governmental foundation based on liberal democracy, the political-economy will eventually come to favor the bourgeoisie and when it does, the paltry crumbs are slowly taken away until you're left fighting for your weekends again. (Thats not even touching on appeasing the bourgeoisie by giving them access to imperialist super profits to offset the domestic taxation and etc..)
The united states used to have housing price ceilings, rent caps, strong unuon membership and workers rights protections, regulation of a whole slew of industries from banking to aviation. But because liberal democracy favors the bourgeoisie, these were slowly chipped away until we're at where we are now. Workers fought and died for 2 day weekends and the 40 hour work week and the bourgeoisie are constantly fighting to take those away.
Do not settle for the paltry concessions the bourgeoisie throw out. The bourgeoisie need labor, but the proletariat do not need the bourgeoisie. You have a world to win.

Im pretty sure thats the post that other anon was talking about. They didn't put it real well but they are kinda right.
Things are not as they were. Unless major reform is enacted a third party will never win in the usa. Not as it is. And any hope of reform will disappear if we get another red prez. Between gerrymandering and the electoral college and the pearl clutching moderates who get scared of progressives, to Republicans with no morals who will 100% vote red without hesitation. We effectively only have 2 parties. At least for now.
A Republican candidate hasn't won the popular vote in decades yet they somehow keep running things.
Everyone I know is scared. Scared this will be our last election next year. But no one is more scared than the disabled. We are terrified. Theres a lot of chatter from the right about "dealing" with us and other "freeloaders" we are legitimately scared for our lives.
Protest votes is what gave us that disaster in 2016 and why roe vs wade is gone now. If they win again they are going to push the rest of their agenda through. These posts about refusing to vote or voting third party are exactly like they were in 2016. We've been down this road once already.
If given the choice of neglect vs active homicidal intent we all have at least a chance to survive neglect.
And neglect gives us time to do something. Work locally. Try and push for reform. It's horrible but it's what we have. And for most disabled it's ALL we have. We can't run, other countries won't take us.
I've even seen some scream about revolution but with zero plans for us. What will their revolution do with us? Will we still have our medical access? Will we still be taken care of? Or will the wheels of the revolution be greased with our blood?
K so this is a lot for first in the morning, and I'm glad that someone has explained it a bit more detail bc I cannot stress this enough IM CANADIAN we live with a mutli party system. We, like most of democracies in the world, function with multiple parties at play. And tbh? They still use "splitting the vote is dangerous" talking point here. Here, it's used to prevent ppl from voting for actual reform in government. It's used to say "Green party will never win in they're trying to do rent caps and UBI!" Despite these being popular standing points with many many ppl and honestly the only reason ppl haven't voted them in is bc of this fear tactic. And yet this year, they've come in 3rd place if not 1st in several towns, cities, and providences. They've made headway, and also a lot of liberal ideals and NDP talking points are just old green party ones so ppl want those policies. But if it wasn't for those tree huggers 10 yrs ago fighting, and losing and being made fun of, as a seperate party and forcing them to move that direction they never would.
And let's be clear, Trump won bc of electoral collage he did not win popular vote in 2016 you where overruled the vote didnt matter. Just like Bush did against Al Gore in 2000
That doesn't mean its hopeless or that you shluldnt vote particularlly on local levels. More ppl then ever in history are voting!! Turn outs are the highest they've been since 1950s!! (Also the last peak in union reforms btw) It's scary flipping parties, you might loose to Democrats or Republicans. It will be horrible. But yall are on the cusp of a civil war and fascism anyway, as an outsider who should hold little say over what you choose in this election, I'd still endorse the 3rd party. idk yall your system seems fucked and legit doesn't seem to care how you vote so scare them into using your vote for someone else and make them admit they're not actually counting your votes.
If there's so many ppl like a different policy and candidate it forms another party then you NEED a different party to have a voice anyway. Even if it's in defeat it must exist and I'll happily be on the loosing side.
These are talking points that are used to stagnate progress and to (rightfully) scare ppl into voting for someone they don't like. So if it scares you too much, i wont be upset with however you vote. Its yours. It's scary out here no matter the outcome rn. But I can't let myself be shaken when there is hope and I will personally work for that hope so it's no longer a scary option for those who can't afford the choice.

maybe it's great that the lot of you havent lived in a reign like uther's but. that was my experience from the previous administration of my country.
we had it all you know? insurgency, isis practically waging war on one of our provinces, democracy teetering on radicalism, a foray on fascism and eventual book burning, history revisionism, vigilanteism, culling all the "drug" personalities, people we know dying left and right because of their "involvement with drugs", suspects on trial ambushed on their way to court, our president proudly saying that the "war on drugs" was a success, police atrocities getting swept under the rug under the guise of self-defense, politically motivated killings, cult of personality surrounding the president and also the current admin, lies and manipulations on facebook, my family begging me to stop posting criticism statements against the government for fear of my life.
so thats why i cannot just accept that "All merlin did was for love" argument that most of the fandom keeps forcing on our throats.
adventures of merlin reminded me of that awful awful time where human rights violations were laughed at, when the commission on human rights were treated as a joke, when china kept taunting our sovereignty.
i mean you are lucky very lucky if you watch bbc adventures of merlin and not get flashbacks of very real fear while just watching the news. good for you.

da miriam writing masterpost
so im porting my writing/review stuff over from wordpress to here. both are gonna be getting updated ideally so if u hate wordpress here is good and if u hate tumblr yet are on here to see this the wordpress isnt going away
to answer the "why is this around" question. i work nights at a hotel, and its very uhhh, full of free time. so ive wound up having most of the night to either watch stuff or read manga, and its gotten to the point where i think i should probably keep track of my opinions of them more in depth -- this felt like the smartest way to do so.
The core point of this post is gonna be to track stuff i want to write about and be a pretty ok navigation point for people. lets break whats coming down:
Yoshiru Konogi, the Hornybait writer who Fucking Gets it
if youve seen me tweeting ever henjou has almost definitely shown up. henjou is hornybait and largely just a sex comedy much like everything Konogi writes, but i think the standout about her writing in the genre and henjou and its spinoff in particular (Eroko-San on the attack) is that while theres an obviously set audience for the horny teenage boy in both, the target feels less to be them and more to be women, either the weirdo girl whos willing to be openly horny or the failwoman neet whos terminally fucking posting about being horny online. its very different in feel to a lot of its genre and i think deserves some more analysis. done! Konogi is a weirdly fascinating mangaka and at least worth peeking through like this. i also go into her crypto stuff for some reason
The Game Parodying a Genre You Didn't Know Existed
if i wind up making a video out of any of these, itl be this one. this is about a specific game in my horrible side hobby of playing terrible western eroge, specifically those using koikatsu party as their source of visuals. my biggest fear is how intentional the parody itself is, as unlike Yoshiru Konogi's work i dont have an accessible back catalog of works to go through. if i wind up having the creator see and and get some sort of weird backlash to my reading im going to be so fucking devastated. they're very much a weirdo(positive) so i dont imagine anything like that but the fear is there.
Homestuck
Yeah i fucking know trashing homestuck is very easy considering the state of a lot of homestuck fans and the way people were with it, especially since it was for a lot of people a first for fandom (and realistically was probably the worst possible entry into fandom one could get,) but homestuck really has a lot of interest going on in its meta layers and how it is intrinsically tied to the era it was written in. Homestuck and its successors (the epilogues and hs2, maybe ill read some of the bigger FA's once i get to this) have a lot of depth that i feel gets terminally ignored or just passed by from basically everyone who has had some sort of interaction with it, be they fans or Normal People
Star wars - God i fucking hate episode 9
Thats right two red flag series in a row babey. we got some TERRIBLE posting Writing POASTING about to happen Star wars realistically is a good series cursed with one of the worst fanbases imaginable, and i want to examine the overarching themes it has about fascism in detail, but here's the basic outline: the original trilogy is about the defeat of fascism and taking only the best from the past, the prequel trilogy is about the rise of fascism and how it corrupts democracy from within, and the sequel trilogy SHOULD have been continuing on the themes of the original and how fascism corrupts and utilizes the past as a tool to grow its own power (but instead we get the most fucking pandery fucking movie targeted at the worst of the fandom)
The one good gacha is fucking dead
Listen i just really wanna talk about dragalia. maybe it was laser targeted at me with its obvious mmo influences but dragalia was MADE for the platform it is on instead of being extant on that platform. dragalia wasnt by any means the best game ever made but it was easily the best gacha ever made. the loss of dragalia is a fucking crime that needs to be talked about more.
Can we please do a good live action comic book movie again at least spiderman like cmon
pretty please i wont complain about the actor spiderman is my favorite superhero of all time and the last two good live action spiderman movies were the first two raimi movies. i think they realised that with no way home and thought by bringing back dafoe and molina they had nailed that when really it was raimis commitment to understanding the fucking medium hes adapting that made those two hit so well and is part of why im so conflicted on multiverse of madness which i also wanna talk about
One Punch Man
See this is coming at some point i have a lot to say about OPM and specifically comparing it to the original webcomic but for now i will leave it at you should read the webcomic its good
Kyoukai No Kanata the best anime of all time
Kyoukai no kanata is the best anime of all time and im not taking questions

i hope you really don’t buy that “forced birth” narrative. women have so many kinds of birth control. and they’re already irresponsible enough with their sex lives. the responsibility should be on women to not have unwanted pregnancies.
i don’t know if i’m for the total outlawing of non-incest, non-rape, non-teen abortions. i just hate the idea of our taxes paying for them. pro-life ppl shouldn’t have to clean up the poor decisions of pro-choice ppl. and if pro-life ppl elect more pro-life representatives, thats just how democracy works. the cries of fascism and american sharia law are just leftists being spoiled babies again.
i’m not that big on robert reich tho i like almost all of the stuff you share from him. he worked for clinton and obama which, even if he helped them do good, still bothers me. plus he’s jewish so i’m sure he’s just open and blind to all kinds of amorality in the name of being liberal. bernie is too but bernie’s lost many cool points with me.

no offense, i just want to throw out an idea. fascism lies on both ends of the political spectrum. don’t believe everything politicians say these days. they want to make it seem like they represent you, but really they are only there to serve the agendas of their own parties. we must represent ourselves.

So like I have zero sympathy for people who are like "what are we expected to vote every time! just because democracy is at risk?!"
because like I vote in off off year elections for school board and water board and shit like that, I read up on it. And I'm 99% sure those guys are just talking in bad faith trying to get people to not vote because... who knows really.
but I do get an amount of emotional burn out. Every election shouldn't be the fate of Democracy, and the last 3 elections really have been and this next one will be too.
2016: electing Trump did serious and on going damage to our Democracy and the rule of law
2018: Democrats taking the house was SO important to limiting the damage Trump was able to do in his last two years and just bringing to light he was up to no good
2020: can you imagine President Trump for 4 more years?
2022: right now Republicans are openly talking about how they want to make sure only their people count the votes, they're passing crazy voter laws everywhere they can, like if they win Congress they'll be perfectly set up to bring Trump back in 2024 and end Democracy in America forever.
I'm sure this will get fun comments because telling people on Tumblr to do amazingly basic things to stop fascism always gets fun reactions, but really I'm just venting, yes its emotionally crushing to have to worry that if an election goes badly the other side will outlaw democracy, but thats where we are.
