This sketchbook was one of those that overlapped with other books over a number of years. I think it had started around 2007 but there are images here from 2010. Many saints were in attendance during this period. The first page is a shot of a painting I had made for my teacher Buddhashanti after he had invited me and a few of the sangha on a retreat about the teaching of Milarepa - this was Milarepa in his cave at the moment of his enlightenment listening to the whispered lineage of previous masters and to the dripping of water that, like a clock ticking counted toward death and served as a direct realisation of impermanence. The image was based on a very traditional Tibetan design. Next two were the excellent Andy Goldsworthy also expounding the Dharma of impermanence at Tate Liverpool and he was very cool to let me get these shots of him channeling John the Evangelist. Next was some sour faced medieval saint, followed by the flier for “I Want To Be In That Number” which was my first little solo exhibition at the lovely @opentableliverpool Saint Brides Church in Toxteth, a TV saint and two saints from San Francisco being our Matty and myself. The set closes with the two earliest images of me wanting to be a saint.
