A quick heads up that I’m changing my online handle! My old one was getting tagged in things for a totally unrelated YouTuber, and tweaking my handle over where it was happening didn’t seem to work, so I’m just rebranding entirely. I’d considered doing this a few times recently anyway (my username is a mouthful haha).
My new name is WizardFlowers and I’ll be changing it wherever the internet lets me! It also means some links may break if they have the old name in them specifically, so let me know if I need to fix anything!

A year ago today I published The Faces We Wear.
To date, it is still my most popular fic I've ever written, by a lot, and it kick started the most consistent creative binge I've ever been on. Not a single month in the last year has gone by without thousands of words worth of writing, which I've never been able to do before.
That fic also inspired @professorflowers to turn the story into a comic, which I'm still giddy about. Like, an artist liked what I'd written so much that they wanted to draw it. 😭😭😭😭😭 You're such a talented and wonderful artist Flowers, and I'm so friggen happy for all of your success!!!!
I usually fixate on fandoms for a while, and then inexplicably, my brain decides it's done, and no matter how badly I want to keep revisiting characters and stories, I just can't. Good Omens changed all that. This is the first time I've ever felt both the drive and inspiration to just keep going. So thank you from the bottom of my heart, every single reader I've ever had. I want to be a published writer one day, and you all have given me the confidence to keep exercising that writing muscle, and keep perfecting. Keep improving.

Alright, had a way busier week than I was expecting, but I’ve finally got time to make a post for transformers women's week! So for Day 5: Masculine/Feminine, here’s a sketch of the Cybertronian Tales! version of Lancer:
(This post wound up being pretty long, so the Image ID and an explanation of my thought process with the design are under the cut.)
[Image ID: A sketch in pencil on paper of Lancer. Her altmode is a 1969 Dodge Daytona, which looks like a typical 1960s muscle car except for its pointed, aerodynamic nose and its very tall spoiler. Her transformation is similar to that of Generation 1 Sunstreaker, so that the roof becomes the front of her torso, the front section becomes her legs, and the rear becomes her arms, with the rear wheels at her shoulders and the Daytona’s distinctive spoiler above her head.
A note beside the spoiler says “Maybe spoiler splits?” with a sketch of an alternate version of the spoiler that splits in half and and each half is angled out to the sides. A note by the shoulder says “fender/tire references G1 shoulder armor.” A note beside the forearm says “maybe exhaust pipe guns?” with a line indicating the exhaust pipes, located on the forearm like on Hot Rod. A note with an arrow pointing to the hand says “taillights fold out into hands.” A note with an arrow pointing to an Autobot symbol on the stripe that runs around the forearm says "Stripe has insignia in place of “DAYTONA,” and and another note beside that says “NOTE: Arms swap sides during transformation.”
To the left is a top-down sketch of a ‘69 Daytona. A note at the top, by the rear of the car, says “rear section splits to form arms.” Five other notes are made down the right side, with lines indicating which section of the car they apply to: the note by the spoiler says “Spoiler folds up over head;” the one beside the B-pillars says “B-pillars fold down over shoulders;” the one beside the central section of the car says “Chest;” the one beside the forward section says “Shin;” and the one beside the nosecone says “foot.”
Finally, a small sketch beside the top-down view shows a simplified side-view of the car with arrows indicating how a section in the rear-center of the roof folds around to reveal the head and an Autobot symbol. A note beside that says “Chest section flips to hide rear window + reveal head & insignia.”

My initial plan was to have a portion of my continuity set in 1984, in large part because so many transformers have alt modes that are difficult to find a good equivalent of circa 1917, and Lancer’s design is reflective of that (although, despite scrapping those initial plans, I do still have plans for her to make an appearance eventually).
The design started with her name. A lancer is someone who fights with a lance, and the defining characteristics of a lance are that it’s long, pointy, and used in a charge; so the obvious choice was a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona—which, in addition to being a Charger, is extremely long even by the standards of ‘60s muscle cars, and has an aerodynamic, pointed nose cone. A secondary reason for choosing a car of such length was that I wanted Lancer to be a fair bit larger than her conjunx endura, and the Daytona is an inch under 19 feet, which puts her at roughly 18 feet tall in robot mode—a full four feet taller than Greenlight.
I wanted the mirror the IDW1 design with regards to her chest being largely a monolithic surface, and mostly flat, and with the small wings coming up from her back, so I decided on a transformation similar to G1 Sunstreaker: the front end splits in half to form her legs, the roof is her chest, and the rear end splits to form her arms.
As such, the livery is a hybrid of that of the Daytona and one of those available for the standard Charger: most of the car is a primary color (bronze), with a secondary color (purple) in a stripe around the rear which also colors the spoiler, and the roof and B-pillars are also in the secondary color. Normally that stripe would have the word “Daytona” on either side; Lancer instead has a pair of Autobot symbols.
In order to match the little bronze section at the top middle of her chest in both the IDW1 and G1 designs, the rear section of the roof and rear window flip around during the transformation to reveal her head and to place a bronze trapezoid with the Autobot insignia at the top of her chest.
I considered also matching the IDW1 wings by having the spoiler split in half, but decided it would probably be better to keep it intact to maintain iconic design elements between robot and vehicle mode.
A last couple little details: the rear wheels and fenders are positioned at her shoulders to reference the layered shoulder armor she had in G1; her arms actually switch sides during her transformation so that the Autobot symbols can be visible from the front (this also positions the exhaust pipes in a visible place on her forearms; I considered making them weapons, but decided against it, so they’re just decorative); and the B-pillars, which are strongly sloped and extend much of the way towards the back of the car, fold down over her shoulders.

It’s done! 81 pages over a year and half, and I’m so happy with it! I learned a lot from this comic and grew a lot as an artist (just go back and look at the original pages, the difference is insane).
If you enjoyed this comic but haven’t yet read the original fic it was based on, you should go and check it out HERE! AEpixie did a great job and it’s one I’ve read over several times (which is why i decided to draw it). I finished!
Mind you I didn’t pay a whole lot of attention to the end of inheritance, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
A few things:
1.) I am ridiculously terrified of Roran. I am just...horrified. Why is he so dark? This is why we marry from outside of Palancar Valley, because we do not need pure unfiltered blood from that line.
1a.) Also, the fact Roran was in awe of Islandzadi was amazing. That was a great moment. He had been mildly annoyed by elves being amazing and the Islandzadi showed up and Roran was Instantly amazed.
2.) I? actually? Adored? The Urgal story in TFWW? It was done so well? I loved it? I want to learn more.
3.) Murtagh is, oddly enough, probably the most emotionally aware of the three boys. I think Roran is probably the best at managing people, however. Eragon is just out there wishing no one had given him the responsibility.
3a.) that isn’t to say Eragon is bad with people. He really isn’t. It’s more to say that that skill wasn’t one he cultivated out of anything but need. Eragon may enjoy talking and learning with people, but that doesn’t mean he can keep himself occupied with just people. He is a bit more goal oriented.
4.) I really hate that Arya was the 3rd rider, and it got worse when she was queen as well. While she is likely the most knowledgeable of her people on the outside world currently- I don’t think she is fit to rule. But that is another post.
5.) Orrin, just
I am not impressed with the writing decisions. I understand them. I do not like them.
6.) I think there should have been more to Carvahall’s story. Like if I had a wish- it would be that. Let’s see what new carvahall looks like.
7.) Elves still suck. But Vanir, you are doing better. The rest of them (including Arya) are on some thin fucking ice.
8.) I would have, in Eragon’s position, read Nasuada the riot act about the magic supervision. For one, she is not a magician- nor did she consult with a magician before making the decision. She just- decided. Also it’s going to cause problems later on as the riders get stronger. More people are going to be magically gifted. Honestly, it is (and I hate to say this) an issue outside he jurisdiction and in the rider’s jurisdiction.
9.) we still don’t have an efficient system for keeping the riders in check. No one has learned anything (as a government) from this experiance. It’s like finally getting rid of the ants in your kitchen and then leaving crumbs about.
9a.) Speaking of, the other kingdoms should have thrown a fit over Arya being a queen and a rider. That was a bid of power from the elves and is only going to cause massive problems.
