They’re not coming. If it had been the oldest, John Dory or Spruce, or the babies, Floyd or Branch, then sure, he’s sure the family would rally to save them in no time. But why would they bother for him? He’s nothing special, not compared to his brothers. They probably just think the letter is some bad joke, anyway.

one piece x steven universe au where instead of being a crystal gem, luffy is sort of a rogue who flies around in a spaceship adventuring through space and making/recruiting friends on different planets and gem colonies, he was inspired by earthlings and now he wants to live freely without the constraints of gem roles and expectations (tagging this with #gem piece)

Ian’s heart kicks in his chest, a jolt of fear spiking through him, and his head swims. It’s like he’s back inside the dark theatre he’d been in all week. Mickey’s words are nothing but unfamiliar sounds.
If he’s gonna go to the movies, he might as well get a snack.
He grabs a pizza roll from the plate in front of him and pops it in his mouth. But when he bites down, the inevitable happens.
“Fuck,” he garbles, the sauce piping hot and burning his mouth.
Ian doubles over, in pain and embarrassed. He really should’ve known better.

“Jesus Christ,” Mickey huffs, standing up and leaving the room.
Ian opens his inferno of a mouth, hoping the air of the room will cool down the masticated snack. Thankfully, by the time he hears the familiar sound of a beer cap being popped off, he’s able to swallow.
Mickey returns, bottle in hand. He offers it to Ian. “S’all we got.”
Ian takes it, grateful as the icy liquid chills his charred throat. “All you got, huh? Even juvie’s got jello.”
“What d’you know about juvie, Gallagher?”
Mickey’s squint makes Ian’s chest constrict.
“What d’you know about me, Milkovich?”

#kirby#kirby nightmare in dream land#kirby's dream land 2#kirby super star ultra#kirby's dream land 3#kirby 64 the crystal shards#kirby and the amazing mirror#kirby squeak squad#kirby triple deluxe#kirby planet robobot#kirby air ride#the games seem to have a trend of being remade ~12 years after they were first released so TECHNICALLY the 3ds games are too recent for tha#but whatever! i had the space for more options so i put them there#and i really only wanted to include the mainline games but i think i remember hearing a lot about people wanting an air ride remake#so it gets to be special and be here! dgdhshsf. never actually played it myself though#i also didn't plan on including the games that already had remakes but again i had space in the poll so! why not?#i voted amazing mirror personally!#the game was made to be multiplayer but that's just. not easy to do#i don't think it was easy when it first released (though admittedly i have no personal experience with that) and it certainly isn't today#but a modern remake would fix that!#yeah yeah i know nintendo's online isn't all that great but it'd still be something! it'd be fun to play it online with my friends!#and if nothing else a split screen local multiplayer would still be great too!#and amazing mirror's plot would lend itself well to an added meta knightmare mode#meta knight defeats dark meta instead of getting sealed away and gets to save the mirror world himself like he had planned to#i do know that amazing mirror should be coming to the gba switch online thing eventually though#so even if it never gets a proper remake i hope that the port will at least add some sort of multiplayer?#that might actually get me to buy the online subscription that includes the gba games dgdhshsf#kirby 64 would be my second choice just because it could use a graphical upgrade the most. 3d models don't age nearly as well as sprites do#only problem is that 64 is part of a trilogy. so it'd be kinda weird if it gets redone but dream land 2 and 3 don't#not a comic or an ask

sorry for ocs two days in a row have some babies from an adult's life time ago (aka 2005 I believe? is when I made them?)
#my characters#this plot was literally too many characters and so it basically become multiple plots#based on who it was the focus but it was all one cohesive .... mess. p much.#and if anyone cares the top two with black eyes are two thirds of triplets and technically very much side characters#the other one that i didnt even draw is part of the more main group lmao#and then the blonde girl judging the pink haired girls comment has a crush on the triplet i didnt draw but she scares him rip#white haired guy on the bottom who got threatened is honestly one of the funniest concepts i have imo#hes just a guy BUT hes also unlucky through life and so he walks into a fortune teller shop one day hoping to stop being unlucky#but when hes there he accidentally knocks a crystal ball on the floor that wasnt being used but was on display#and oops it had five souls in it and now they need a home so they take his body and can take control of it when they want#so hes got himself and five others trying to control his body which is really funny to me#he doesnt even HAVE a super power or strength like the others in the cast hes just a dude hosting five other souls its fine

Been thinking about the Crystal Clay au more--and kinda by extension the other aus in which JD or Bruce are the ones in the diamond instead (Crystal Dory au by @tea0w0stache, Crystal Bruce au by @throwawaycan, although none of what I'm about to say should be considered canon to those aus without their creators sayso, I'm just spitballing ideas).
The main conflict that causes Branch to walk out with Poppy and Tiny, which then ultimately results in the remaining three brothers being captured by Velvet and Veneer, is fueled by all three of the oldest brothers: JD's push for perfection sets off Clay, which sets off Bruce, which all in all escalates the argument to the point we see in the movie.
But what about in these aus, where you remove one of those three? Without JD, there isn't as much pressure for perfection. Without Clay or Bruce, there isn't one to spark the conflict and then the other to fan the flames. I'm not saying an argument wouldn't happen, I'm just saying I get the vibes that, without all three of them present, and also with the additional presence of Floyd as a mediator, the argument would be contained before the group decides to split.
If the group doesn't split (and Tiny is still driving Rhonda instead of JD and therefore doesn't park in the obvious 'reserved for Brozone' parking trap), then the other three brothers would never get captured.
Which would leave the one remaining brother who's already trapped, whether it's Clay or Bruce or JD, stuck being Velvet and Veneer's only source of talent for their big show, meaning there's a much higher chance they'd suck the last of the life force out of them sooner than they did for Floyd.
Floyd barely scraped by. What's going to happen if they're left with even less time to complete their rescue?

Thinking about Kris being a lonely kid who grew up in her home town without any friends. The only other child she knew was the professor's son who was at least 5 years younger than her and the first friend she made started off as some asshole thief that shoved her to the ground and called her names.
Even as she traveled and met all sorts of people, she never really made any strong connections or even knew how to small talk enough to keep up a conversation besides a few tips about pokémon locations, battle rematches, or the occasional gossip spoken at her (trainer calls).
She was a good, tho very awkward, kid who liked helping people out (running errands for both professors, taking letters for others, helping sick and hurt pokémon) , learning about pokémon, and battling. She was better at forming bonds and making friends with animals, significantly more than humans that when people asked her to watch over their pokémon for them, the pokémon didn't want to go back to their original humans on various occasions (the spearow mail carrier, the protected shuckle).
A legendary beast saw the purity of her heart and sought to test her out as a trainer. It saw how deeply she loved and cared for pokémon (happiness mechanic) and needed to know more.
Her rival learned to care about his pokémon through evaluating his actions and comparing them to hers and realizing his lack of compassion and care, to treat them as teammates rather than tools. Both are still very awkward around people but not around their pokémon and not with each other. They would meet up from time to time; she'd see him improve and resume training after another loss (Indigo Plateau rematch and Dragon's Den training).
Sometimes while battling, she would dress as a boy because she felt like she wasn't taken seriously as a girl (outfit changes in link cable battles and trades).
She reminded people of another great trainer who was known for his kindness and love of battling, saw how his family and friends missed him (Green/Blue, Sabrina, Copycat, Red's mom). When she does find him, she earns herself the battle of a lifetime.
Her mom worries about her and buys her gifts as an incentive to stop by home from time to time (room decorations and money saving). Even if she stops by and adds more decore by trading with new people (mystery gift) she's never home for very long.
Another legeendary is drawn to her by a mysterious gift presentes to her (mobile adapter and gs ball event).
She takes on the challenge of the new Battle Tower and seeks to potentially become the top battler there (first battle tower introduced).
As most people never played Crystal, I feel like few people remember her as she was and it bums me out because she was such a sweet and special kid. She's usually just tacked on to the HGSS trio as an afterthought
