Throwback Thursday
Today I drew John Africa for today's theme.Which is MOVE Bombing.When members would greet each other they would say 'on the MOVE.' The MOVE organization spoke about racial and environmental injustice on street corners and protested in front of numerous organizations throughout the city of Philadelphia. And euring these protests members were more often than not arrested and jailed.In March on 1976. while seven MOVE members were returning home from jail, police were called to their residence claiming they were responding to a disturbance of peace complaint. A fight ensued and while MOVE member Janine was trying to protect her husband Phil from being beaten by police, she was GRABBED and THROWN to the ground while clutching her three-week-old baby, Life Africa, in her arms. Janine was stomped on by police until she was nearly unconscious and the baby didn't survive...and the worst part is no officer was ever charged with any crime (So apparently murder,assault and hate crime are not crimes when THEY did it? What the actual f@#k).MOVE members reorganized and moved to 6221 Osage Avenue in 1981. The house was a fortress, fortified with bunkers inside and on the roof. They continued to stage protests and broadcast their messages day and night by bullhorn from the rooftop bunker. Numerous complaints of disturbing the peace, unsafe living conditions, and child endangerment were filed against MOVE from neighbors and federal agencies. Several previous attempts at removal were met with violence by MOVE members. The city subsequently cut off water and power to the home and stopped picking up their trash, heightening tensions with the organization.On May 13, 1985, city officials sent police to serve arrest warrants, with orders to carry out by extreme force. Nearby local residents were told to evacuate but could return to their homes the following day. Nearly 500 officers in SWAT gear, backed by heavy artillery and an anti-tank machine gun, surrounded the block. A shot fired from inside the MOVE residence was met by a volley of over 10,000 rounds in 90 minutes all shot into the home.5 fire trucks pumped gallons of water through the basement (if you're wondering why they pumped water in there it's because the MOVE members were hiding there...WITH CHILDREN) and tear gas was thrown into the windows of the home. SWAT teams tried to blast holes in the walls of adjoining houses to gain entry. MOVE membersk were holding the children up in the air to avoid drowning in rising waters. The all-day standoff led to the city dropping a C-4 bomb on the rooftop of the home. The bunker did not fall, but the roof of the home was engulfed in flames. 65 neighborhood homes were destroyed and over 200 residents lost their homes.11 MOVE members, including John Africa and 5 children were killed. One adult, Ramona, and one child, Birdie (13 years old), survived the bombing but were severely burned. Ramona was convicted of conspiracy and jailed for seven years. She later sued the city and was awarded a $1.5 million settlement in 1996.Several articles, books, and two documentaries, The Bombing of Osage Avenue (1986) and Let the Fire Burn (2013), have been produced about the incident. In 2017, a historical marker was erected on the corner of Osage and Cobbs Creek Parkway, by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. Plans for redevelopment by city officials and private companies have failed, and the destroyed homes remained boarded up.

RED Triumphs! (Team Fortress 2 [2007, update in 2016])
Featuring another cool game with no need for introduction. While the expected Trumpets and heavier Horns fit the “spy movie” style the soundtrack usually goes for, my personal highlight goes to the constant, fast-paced rhythms made by the Percussion, which sound like they’re part of the box-shaped variety. Whether it’s that or a more traditional set of Drums, I can’t deny how much this use of Percussion makes it stand out among the other favorite tracks I’ve linked so far, so its earned its rightful place among the others in the list!

Guess what? As the companion to my “Grenades vs Buildings” poster, I made another, this time to measure the Heavy’s DPS with each different minigun!
These damage values are for medium distance (no fall-off, no ramp-up) and an average of three bullets hitting the target. (Miniguns fire four bullets per shot.) As such, this covers most common engagements for the Heavy, especially against other Heavies.
Which minigun do you like best? Does this change your mind at all? Remember that it doesn’t cover all of their attributes - the Tomislav’s bunnyhop or the Natascha’s slowdown, for example.

black widow (2021) review
aka liveranting while i rewatch it at 1.5 speed. spoilers ahead
i dont think this movie was smart enough to have symbolism. blue curtains are just blue curtains
inaccurate fireflies. meant literally nothing despite being the only attempt at symbolism
american pie is the main song of the movie. about a russian spy organization.
no on screen confirmed police deaths. lame.
david harbours character sucks. brings nothing but bad 'comedy' to the movie
first onscreen death is an asian woman, by brutal stabbing, after getting hit by a car. her final act is saving the white woman who killed her. preventable death by seconds
ot fagbenle's character is never named in dialogue. had to google him to find out his character is Rick Mason
lack of romantic subplot b/w mason and widow appreciated, but likely only because this whole movie is a zerosum plot with no larger impact
how tf did taskie track the vials from budapest to buttfuck nowhere when mason is supposedly good at his job
taskie's fucking helmet. with the hood up it looks like a gd ski mask
props for expandable weapons backpack though, that was cool
movie does a poor job showing off taskie's mimic abilities. incredibly mediocre combat sequences
mimic abilities possibly soley tech-based, taskie isnt shown fighting without the helmet. weak lame and boring
2nd piece of media after a criminal minds episode i watched recently where supposed ballistics experts dont know what arrow wounds look like. tf is wrong with these people

entire plan is 'driving away'

really seems like this movie is the MCU's divorce from ScarJo and Florence's rise as her replacement. yelena is portrayed as more intelligent, funny, attractive, and competent than nat in every way, has the best lines, and is immediately critisizing and one-upping the actress and character. fans dont want to see scarjo anymore and marvel knows it. i bet the same thing is gonna happen with the hawkeye show and theyre gonna kick Jeremy renner to the curb. while hopefully also introducing kate bishop as the new hawkeye.

Off-the-cuff theories about the "Detour" after Atlas one of the writers mentioned, and how likely I think they are:
-Vale. While my assumption was that Vacuo would be visited first before bringing everything back around, I could also see them changing things up. Especially if V8 goes as badly for the heroes as we're all expecting, it might make sense to go home for a while to lick their wounds and figure out a new plan. Also may be a way for Raven and Tai to come back into the picture! Still, I don't think this is suuuper likely, especially given the narrative importance placed on the Crown Of Choice. 3/10
-Mistral or Argus. Honestly not a whole lot to support this, other than I want to see Illia come back, and she wasn't set up as being in Vacuo like SSSN and CFVY. 0.5/10
-Menagerie. Same reasons as Vale, but it not having the same level of narrative importance could support this... though it has the same problem as Mistral where we've already been there, done that. 2/10
-The Dragon Continent; Salem's Domain. Very likely, just from a geographical standpoint. Also, I have a minor theory about Ruby getting kidnapped or giving herself up to save everyone else, (mainly because of the shots of her isolated in the Intro) so Volume 9 could be a rescue mission to save her from Salem's fortress? (Or Oscar, if he never gets rescued by the end of this Volume, which is plausible given the two-day timeframe) But even putting that guess aside, it's a logical next step anyway, if they want to learn more about Salem or get the Relic(s?) back. 8/10
-The God Of Light's Domain. Presumably it still exists in the world somewhere, and given the 'falling into water' stuff in the intro (even if I think that's supposed to be the inside of the Staff's vault like how the Lamp was in a desert) could point to that. I'm not sure what they'd get out of it, but it would be something. 5/10
-The Island Of Vytal. It is also geographically close to Atlas/Mantle, and has similar world significance as Vale without the 'series endgame' vibes. Might be a chance to learn some history that may be relevant to the current predicament, too. However, the fact that it hasn't come up a whole lot in the show proper, just WoR, makes that uncertain. 5/10
-Wherever the hell the Arc Family lives. Again, somewhere to lick wounds and regroup. Outside of Saffron, the Arcs are the family we still know least about, but we know they're probably some sort of relevant given Jaune's comments about his parents. Also, seven sisters isn't a narrative promise to make lightly... Main issue is that this could overlap with any of the already-mentioned locations, and thus share their same drawbacks. 3/10
-Vacuo. It could be a bit of misdirection, where the team DOES go straight for Vacuo, but we just have another Volume of travel time in between, like 4 and 6, that constitutes a Narrative detour more than a physical one. 3/10
-Several at once. We could wind up with another case of the team being split and pursuing different objectives (rescue, research, gaining allies, etc.) based on how the events of V8 shake out. It would be kinda like 4 and 5 in following multiple different threads simultaneously, but I think this time it would be the team making a conscious decision to split up with full intent to regroup. At the same time, though, given how well Splitting The Party is going for them right now, they may be reluctant to do something like that again so soon. 1.5/10
EDIT: -Alternate dimension. It could be interesting if they wind up stuck in the vault (which I think the intro could plausibly be read as pointing to) and have to find some other way to get back to Remnant. 4/10
-To gaytopia. They're already well on their way. 12/10
(I'm picturing a dartboard, and it's completely riddled with darts with no empty spaces left - except of course for the actual bullseye.)

Portal Series
Valve, a game company that still dominates the market when its name gets mentioned. Everytime gaming companies hear that word, they bow down to them like gods for they are one. Valve shall not be messed with when they release a new game, if only we get one from them. Yeah Valve is great with their source engine and the Steam library but when will get another game from them, other than Half-Life Alyx, also known as Half-Life 1.5. Anyways when people talk about what their favorite Valve game is, many point to Half-Life, CS:GO, Left 4 Dead, and of course Portal.
Portal was a game created by the almighty god named Gabe Newell, I mean Valve, in 2007. The game was released along with Half-Life part 2 and Team Fortress 2 on a little disc named the orange box for consoles and sold separately for PC. Portal was a game changer, like most of Valve’s games, it was an experiment that worked and is a huge pop culture influence to this day. From GLaDOS to the portal gun Portal defined a generation of modern gamers to go more wild and out with their creation of their own games. I would go more in depth for Portal but I know no one likes history or learning these days so without further to do, heres Portal
Portal: (9.5/10)
The first in the series Portal, as said before, was an experiment and was probably never to be made again. Just kidding Gabe knew this was gonna be a hit like always. The story is pretty simple, you're a girl named Chell and you have to do tests for the company Aperture. In the end your lied to about getting cake and have to kill the robot controlling it all GLaDOS. Seems pretty simple and not really that much backstory but into it except for the end and some easter eggs along the way in the middle of the game. Either way Portal was short and wished it could have gone longer but it was just something Valve put together and hoped it worked, at least from what I interpreted.
Portal 2: (10/10)
I know original score now stop complaining. Portal 2 was even better than its original and it shows. A storyline was placed in, better graphics (obviously), and some great lore. The storyline is your back as Chell and this time shit hit the fan. You wake up out of status and realize you’ve been asleep for 999999999….dah shit my fucken nine key broke, fixed it now. Anyways you’ve been asleep for long and need to get out of Aperture once again. Now i could go more depth and explain the story line more but fuck you go play this game yourself, or watch a YouTube video. Portal 2 was absolutely great and what's more to say for a game as great as Portal, well this next one actually
Portal Stories Mel: (10/10)
Fan made shit is really good, when people put time and money on it it can become something great or something really bad. Mel came out great, and probably better than Portal 2 if i dare say. Created by Harry Callaghan and Ian Wiese, with their studio Prism, Mel won Best Fan Made Creation of 2015. Now Mel was only released on Steam if you have Portal 2 so I had to ask a friend if I can play it. I played it before the whole lockdown began.
That's all I can review about Portal. I was gonna do more but because of COVID-19 and the whole lock down stuff I’m kinda stuck not reviewing games without help from others. I know I missed some others from the Portal series so if there's any you want me to review I will gladly do so and if you have a game you want me to review tell me about it. + Made planetfall as the suns set; after making camp, I set out under the light of the close-orbiting moon to investigate bands of phosphorescence visible 1.5 miles off, over hard terrain (dry, rocky bluff interspersed with 'hoodoos' eroded by wind). After ascending nearby escarpment, it becomes clear that phosphorescence is a property of certain strata of the rock formations themselves.
+ have followed river from its headwaters in the bluffland, and established base of ops. in high-sided canyon. Where higher elevations dry, lifeless, this area thrives; thick stands of fleshy plant life, fern-trees upward of 20' in height. Veins of sap seem to carry residual phosphorescent properties found in minerals deposits, river silt.
+ Caught my eye as I stopped for meal. further downriver I have found the remnants of some kind of construction: a low dome-shaped structure topped by a platform, reachable by stairway. All built of dry red-veined stone (abundant around river). Platform dominated by stone ring, roughly human-height in its aperture; study reveals its opening to align with the rise of the moon.
+ On leaving my leafy canyon, I find myself in dry hills again. Rounding a bend, I am faced suddenly with another ruined structure: carefully designed to blend into the land around it, a ciruclar area paved in stone bricks, surrounded by what appear to have been towers. The complex strongly reminiscent of small spaceport.
+ The weather has grown hot, and I have retreated to another river-canyon. This is forested with 'trees' like huge, swaying, coiling rosemary bushes. After much difficulty I manage to climb the ropey branches to harvest the fruit I see growing in the upper canopy. Thick and oblong, edible, something like a fibrous cucumber in texture. Sweet, somewhat peppery flavour.
+ Planet listing entered into Ekumenical Database as planet 'Sapsorrow' - name pending ratification.

+ Planetfall; fierce windstorm makes landing difficult. I make contact with small outpost of genemod settlers. Their aircraft shepherd me through storm, and the community gives me hospitality.
+ My first venture out of my hosts' territory cut short; their homestead is located on a volcanic 'island' in the middle of a hot sulphur lake.
+ After breakfast and tending to repairs on the ship, I catch my first sight of native life on the planet: an airborne plantform, something like a vast sail of kelp suspended in a 'rigging' of roots and held aloft by this world's forceful air currents.
+ Planet registered in Database under inhabitants' name: planet 'Ciuciush' - indigenous identification, ratification unnecessary.

+ Touched down on a black outcrop of rock near the equator - planet distant from sun, largely icebound - made camp on ridge overlooking the rough blue field of a glacier. From out my viewport as I made tea, I spotted the blackened wreck of what looks like an old transmition aerial, projecting from the ice. No signs of construction around me otherwise.
+ Surveying the glacier; I didn't see them at first - my snow goggles limiting the range of my vision - but I heard the whirr of their motorsledge. A research team from the Polis-Worlds. They crewed the station whose aerial I saw yesterday, before a fire consumed it and much of their assembled data; they make for another station on the far side of the mountains.
+ I am travelling with the researchers now; I haven't room in the ship to carry them, but the sledge moves faster now we've moved what supplies we can onboard. Progress impeded today by an unexpected ice barrier - the glacier's surface is variously pitted and upthrusting into weird daggers many storeys high. Tove - a geologist - and I climb one to get a better view. We'll have to go around the rough ice - at least a half day of travel.
+ As we progress along the spine of ice, we find that some of the pits contain liquid water - unusual! We refill our stocks.
+ Scouting ahead, Tove and I find the bare framework of another transmitter. 'The original survey team put down around here', she says. 'I thought they were further from us, though'. Ekumenical contact was apparently first made 20 SSY ago; Tove and her team are part of the ratification effort.
+ The descent from the glacier is exhausting. We are forced to disassemble the sledge; I ferry goods down in Penelope's Loom, but much of the journey is still a hard, dangerous climb. We are successful. Two days later: we have reached the research base. I manage a goodbye to Tove and my comrades of the past several days before they are consumed by a series of debriefings.
+ Planetary designation: Mahler. Ratification ongoing.

+ The skies here are thick with swarms of insects, hovering like flocks of starlings. They coat every surface with a tarry substance, which has found its way onto the Loom's exterior almost immediately. I have spent the morning attempting vainly to clear the viewports of the stuff.
+ Scanners reveal something on the lakebed; with great difficulty I fight through the thick skin of swarm-secretion which floats on the surface. It clogs my breathing apparatus, clings to my limbs. Not until get below it can I clean myself off, relying on oxygen backup. I am rewarded with the sight of a majestic stone sculpture: an enormous, beautiful face, its features human but made uncertain by erosion. Patches of mosaic scintillate under my searchlight.
+ The waters of this world hide such beauty. In a caldera lake, the surface clear of the omnipresent bugs of the lowlands, I find another statue. Tiled in long red oblongs, a huge human figure; the position of their arms evokes something ritual, prayerlike. The people of the world were or are truly wonderful artists.
+ Took water samples from a channel cutting through the highland rock. As I take a break from rowing, I spot through the water a trio of tiled figures, deep at the bottom and surrounded by a garden of tissuelike vegetation. I will miss this place.
+ Listing entered into Ekumenical Database: planet 'Monumence' - name pending ratification.

+ Planetfall at mountain peak - atmosphere at lower elevations dangerously thick. A low stone wall rings the area, hemming in the mountaintop like an ancient fortress.
+ Pausing during the preparation of my landing and camp site, I see dark outlets carved into the cliffs above me. Perhaps the mountain *is* a fortress?
+ At night, the snow turned green under the hazy light of the moon as it filters through the atmosphere, the Loom is rocked by something outside. A small herd of animals: quadrupedal, avian, long-legged. At least 10' at the shoulder. The nuzzle the warm ground around the ship, perhaps for food.
+ I inspect something which I took initially to be a flying creature, but which has hung in the same place the last three days. It is an aerial structure; no sign of habitation - merely a lonely metal shell, a bunker in the sky. Its engine and means of staying in the air are opaque to me.
+ Though my record of this world is incomprehensive, I feel deeply uncomfortable here and have decided to leave. There is a presence that I do not like, and feel to have intruded upon.
