1. What's your favorite kind of fic to write?

i’m having difficulty answering this question right of the bat tbh, bcs i feel like i can find good things in all i’m writing - eg. i really like the concept and style of the dragon au, and thats a chaptered story with looong chapters, while i checked and i think most of my fics are oneshots under 5k words? which isn’t surprising tbh despite how long i sometimes seem to write my descriptions i dont often bite away so many words (i dont prefer either, essentially)

my thing is mostly just to write the concept i enjoy and see how much it ends up as. i did have a lot of fun writing the last two fics of 2020 bcs they were so short and such a fast lil thing to write that surprisingly (for more of a first/second draft) turned out rlly good? 

i guess for this answer i won't give a specific ‘kind’ of fic in terms of length or how it comes to life, but rather which tropes or theme or ‘vibe’ i enjoy lmao

this is a ramble but what im trying to say is that ‘kind of fic’ is up to interpretation :D and therefore i will say i enjoy writing mostly fluffy things n mostly established relationship bcs i dont enjoy uncertainty too much. and always, always, a happy ending (looking at u lil concept over there that follows the ambiguous ending)

i did have a writing spur the last couple of days n i was really happy with the results, so then coming up with ideas and putting them down just as i wanted to was very easy. this... doesnt apply all the time though

this isnt the act of writing itself, though i think i have a quite easy time (in my head) to come up with descriptions for everything. but this isnt often benifital (an exception would be the dragon au), and as both english is my second language and i can’t w o r d sometimes,, it can sometimes be really hard to put it down on the page and have it makes sense to anyone that isn’t me - ive ran into the problem multiple times, and ofc i wouldn't notice until...  someone else read it. I’m really glad i have some good buds looking out for me that can tell me if it .. doesnt

i would say that maybe that can be my answer - describing things originally. all i really do after that is saw n cut things down.

lol ok so i had random thought-- writing/describing phil. hes cute. i like him. i can describe his lil face n stuff, i guess. maybe that plays into a lil that i find writing characters physical descriptions easy? and i dont mean easy as in incorporating them into the story - that varies,, but more like. i see ur face and i know which adjectives to use yes yes (dont tell me to do it from memory tho visual imagination s u c k s)

maybe that is the moral - i write, describe, good, easy

...and i would say it probably is- still want to answer m o r e though (if this is getting annoying i dont blame u)

the easiest part in terms of the p r o c e s s of writing is not the act of jotting down dialogue or fleshing out thoughts or characters or knowing the space or even coming up with ideas (though they are plenty yet fleeting) but,, the random thought stage - as i call it (now. i came up with it just now. dont be fooled). i use this in dms and (unfortunately) quite a lot in a lot of my wips lmao (ospbb fic im so sorry for u) wayyy before i come up with exactly what i need to write instead of what i want. its literally just sending you random thoughts, ideas, incoherent or coherent, into a place outside ur brain where they can survive. sometimes they become one liner openings to a potential fic, or segments of a story that needs to unravel later on (once again, ospbb fic), or only conceptually strung-together phrases of 7k words of smut (woops. might flesh it out sometimes)

but yeah. long post long answers weird brain,, i think thats just it.. n 27 is ,, descriptions, and random thought stage

Other than that the only other series I followed was written by wifey ( @dirtylevi ) for SNK and she hasn’t updated in ten millions years (:

pfdjkaslfjdklas;a i write no ships (which is why i rarely use A03) but platonic my favorites to write are chuuaku & odazai. I’d like to explore Kouyou and Chuuya’s relationship at some point.

sO MANY. I have an entire series of all my SNK one-shots just grouped together, and then my now four BSD series. & two unfinished snk long-fics................................oops

Only the BSD series. All of my old SNK fics (which was a fucking lot) are on my graveyard of a DA profile.

Uh on one of my old smut fics for SNK someone said something about a lot of whores being on A03 like ??? what does that even mean?? the few times throughout the years ive only been slut-shamed on my smut lmao. and once about Aku shoving it in dry that started this whole salty debate about BDSM and the ignorance on tumblr was astounding. 23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)

SMUT IS HARD. There are only so many words for “dick”. I’m a visual writer too so sensory details are my wheelhouse, anything else im like uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, especially with motions in smut like 98% of my life is trying to imagine position switching in my head and then forming words to explain it.

That one where I fucked up Armin in a Zombie AU That one chuuaku fic that I don’t remember the name of.  That one where I fucked up Dazai and all the tags were turmoil and I loved it.

I hate the organization of TDOC. It’s on my list of re-writes tbh. Same with the BDSM centered mafia!dazai smut..thing..like it kind of ended up being this weird series-but-not and now I want to just...make it a collective thing because I have control issues and its bothering me.

the only way to deal with them for me is to just. let them be. i know im gonna have them, and that i cant get rid of them, so i just work around them. i write regardless of them.

for my first book i did hours of research on amputations and prosthetics and stuff because my mc was an amputee

The small basement had seemed so big when I was a child. Monsters lurked in all of its corners. Demons waited in the shadows. 

I myself was a monster, but I didn’t know it yet. I was a different type of monster; I was the type that couldn’t be killed. I was too human for that. I was the dredge of humanity. 

But the thing is, when half of the population is as well, it’s much harder to hunt us. It’s much harder to hunt us when we share the faces of those that are good. 

Before I knew what I was, my mother would come downstairs and tell me that one day I wouldn’t be scared, that one day I wouldn’t have to spend every day downstairs. She’d hold me and whisper empty promises. 

Even then, as she held me, there was another empty promise on her lips. She didn’t say it, as I was far too old to believe it, but I knew what she was thinking.

1: when did you start writing? I mean, if we’re talking ‘writing’ purely in the sense of coming up with and telling stories, then i’ve been writing stories since i was like 3. Instead of reading bedtime stories, me and my dad would come up with a unique story in “Meander’s playroom” every night. I don’t remember much, but I do remember there being a never-ending slide, and a flying rocking horse. (I think the plot of one, was me going down said slide, but I was too scared to get off? So a giant teddy bear went to the bottom of the slide to catch me when I got off.) In the sense of actually physically writing stories, I must’ve been 10 or 11? Ironically, that first story is the one ive made the most progress in, writing over 20 000 words for it. Shame it’s so awful.

15: What would you say has inspired you the most? Honestly? You and every other writer. I don’t really get envious whenever I read other’s people work and see how good they are. Rather, it gets me so motivated and excited and inspired to write, because look how good they are!!! Look at how they manage to make the words soar and paint beautiful imagery and gut-wrenching scenes!!! I wanna do it too!!!!

19: Do you prefer writing on the computer or longhand? WHY DONT YOU JUST ASK ME TO CHOOSE BETWEEN CUTTING OFF A HAND OR A FOOT WHY DONT YOUHere’s the thing, that 20 000 word story i mentioned? Aaaalllll written long-hand. And tbh, there’s just something about how physical it is that appeals to me? It’s easier to write ideas and scenes and just spitball, bc there’s less pressure, and then just re-write it on the computer and edit it. EXCEPT, that takes so much time and im lazy my guy. And it’s so much easier to write on the computer? You make a mistake or want to add something in, you can just hit backspace and edit, whereas physical is so much more hassle. and you get so little done writing longhand? typing is so much faster. Lmao, if i had the time and energy, i’d probably do it longhand and then type it up on the computer while making edits29: Which do you find easiest: writing or editing? Editing. Like, writing is more fun, but it’s so much more work? whereas with editing, you’re just polishing what you have. Sometimes it’s hard to distance myself, but as long as i let it sit for a few days, it’s easier to go back and just see it as a piece of writing instead of something personal.

36: Do you listen to music when you write? GOD NO. Music is so distracting for me, and a lot of the time it just gives me a headache, if i try to write while listening to music. There are rare occasions though, where I need some kind of white noise in the background because the silence is too distracting, and I’ll put on the sound of rain, cats purring, or video game music.

39: What’s the weirdest story idea you’ve ever had? I’m sure there’s a really weird one, but I can’t remember it, all I can think of was this one story where a teenager starts having chats with her own soul, and i dont know what was going to happen afterwards, just a lot of philosophical talks with her own soul.

47:If you could steal one character from another author and make then yours, who would it be and why? ...Does it have to be from a book? because I feel like Gabriel from Supernatural might be one of the best written characters I’ve encountered, so brilliant, and the writers aren’t doing anything with him!!! From an actual book, I might have to go with Julian from The Forbidden Game, because he’s such a deliciously evil, yet morally gray character? lmao he spends the entire series trying to trick his love into binding herself to him, yet keeps protecting her, and even making his tricks pretty easy to get out of honestly, and he loved her because she was a light in the darkness, and yeah, i love me devious characters with a code of honour, characters who have good and pure reasons for doing what they do, but going about it in such a wrong and evil way. and lmao, there’s actually a good reason for why he’s so inhumanely beautiful. i love him, and how he was written, and i want more of him.

3: Best game you've ever played?

answered this already but i have a lot of favourite games.

this time im gonna look at the FPS games. like borderlands is fantastic. ive played it so many times and I probably will keep playing it over and over. the graphics, art, characters, wild story, awesome soundtrack, and the amount of entertainment makes for a lot of hours played.

on the other hand, metroid prime is one of the best games ive played. the first one, particularly, nails the secluded exploratory feel of wandering through the levels on a planet without really knowing where you need to go until you...keep going. it has great enemies and music, the space pirates used to terrify me, and the metroids still terrify me. the bosses are difficult, but not overly so. it is an old game, but it’s done very well. metroid prime 2&3 were good, but 2 was overly confusing (and the stupid ammo system for the dark & light guns!!! who thought that was a good idea) and not always clear. it didnt get the same feeling it did with the first one. and the 3 had loads of exploration involved and really awesome planets, but having “friends” kinda takes away half the fun of the alone-feeling. though i gotta say, the music was prime for 3. (ayyy)

4: Worst game you've ever played?

still struggling with this one. since the other one I said thief 4, i guess I’ll say petz horsez 4. straight off the bat. too many z’s. secondly, i was...11? and i got this as a birthday gift. i was kinda excited because i was one of those weird horse obsessed kids that doesnt have horses but longingly dreams of living on a ranch and scooping horse shit. game wasn’t awful. controls sucked. it was for the wii so that explains it. i dont think i ever finished it. i liked just having loads of horses because i love naming things. but then the story got weird and the main horse could talk???? i pretty much stopped right after that went down. i was out. 11 year old me was done.

11: Hardest game you've played?

METROID FUSION.  like as a whole? it’s not difficult. the bosses can be confusing but i beat most of them after like three tries. the nightmare guy took like 7 until i figured out i could just shinespark em (i felt stupid after that)

but the END. fuck that noise man. first u gotta fight sa-x, which is a weird virus that ends up taking samus’ form. so its got all of her normal upgrades and is an alien. you have to go through THREE stages of its samus form, then monstrous disgusting one (easiest tbh) and then its weird virus floating ball thing. i dont know how many times i had to stop because 1: i was pissed that i couldnt beat a single form, and 2: my hands cramped so friggin badly from going through one stage of fighting it.

okay and then after that, classic metroid, you got a 4 minute warning before the ships gonna blow. so frantically (b/c i cant stand pressure) i made it to my ship and then what do i find? an omega metroid thats ready to kick my ass. turns out, there’s TWO bosses. but this one you have to beat before the timer runs out!!!! the fun thing is that even the time in cutscenes and ELEVATORS count. so there’s a bit where sa-x comes and saves u (yeah idk man) and then u take its power and try to kick its ass but- get this- i killed it with five seconds left BUT IT BLEW UP DURING THE THINGS DEATH ANIMATION!!!!!!! I DIED BECAUSE THE THING TOOK TOO LONG TO DIE. WHAT KINDA BULLSHIT IS THAT.

26. How do you come up with your fanfic titles?

i go to the post window on ao3 and realize that my scrivener doc is still titled “tower au” or “demon en” or whatever, and i cry. then i desperately try to think of something thematically appropriate and hopefully pretty. usually during this process i drift further and further away from whats in the fic and the ideas become more and more tenuously connected (e.g. spindle, which is very appropriate to the fic but only in an extremely symbolic, abstracted way) but by this point im frustrated so i just go with it anyway. or, very occasionally, a title presents itself to me from the text of the fic (grace, despicable objects).

i also make vashti help me im probably really annoying about it

27. What do you hate more: Coming up with titles or writing summaries?

BOTH ………………… IT IS THE WORST PART ABOUT FICWRITING because its fucken impossible and also because by that point the fic is done! and im excited to post it!! or maybe just excited to not have to stress about it anymore. but i cant post it because i have to think of ONE WORD to encapsulate the fic and then like THREE SENTENCES to encapsulate it in a different way and both of them have to be interesting but not spoilery and how tf do you do that and my brain is fried from editing and asjl;dkfasdf. honestly though i hate them both equally

39. What is you greatest strength as a writer?

fuck idk. um. …i want to say dialogue but i feel like sometimes people in my fics talk for too long because i like writing it too much LMAO and i want to say angsty introspection but i have the same problem there. maybe i just think im best at those things bc theyre the things that come easiest to me?? and i think my characterization tends to be solid but everyone thinks that, right… no one writes poor characterization on purpose, do they… unless they have some other reason i guess. this question is smth for my readers to answer for themselves!!!! bc i dont know

46. If someone was to read one of your fanfics, which fic would you recommend to them and why?

well i mean .. it would depend on who was asking. i dont really know how to answer this bc i dont know this hypothetical someones likes and dislikes??? if it was an enkin shipper who liked pain, path to the stars. if it was an enatsu shipper who didnt want sad things in boueibu (im looking at u nicole), illuminations. if it was someone who would read any pairing but didnt have lots of time to read, i would edit i want no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true) as ive been meaning to do and then tell them to read that. and so on. i really dont mean this as an evasive answer ;aljksdf but um if someone said “i like all pairings! i like all genres! i have plenty of time! i dont mind WIPs!” then i would rec veil or spindle bc im proudest of them and i think theyre good and i want more readers for my plotty multichaptered stuff

50. How did you get into reading and/or writing fanfiction?

honestly …. i have no idea how i got into reading fanfiction. literally no idea. i guess i was just poking around the internet as an 11yo and randomly found some and thought it was cool

and i guess writing was a natural extension of reading? ive been writing since before i could physically write. i would make up poems in the car as a smol smol child. i have no memories of this but my parents do bc they were like “wtf” and yeah anyway it continued from there although i like to think im better now than i was when i was like 8. and like. my first fanfiction was really bad. it was really bad yall. but i got what i now realize were the kindest, most encouraging reviews (on ff.net. i still have a hard time remembering that ao3 has “comments” and not “reviews” asdjkf) the same way my parents and teachers encouraged my often very awful writing over the years so !!! my confidence in my writing is fragile but i have confidence sometimes and its bc ppl were so nice to me when i was awful and that gave me a chance to become less awful. but that doesnt have much to do with the question im just really grateful whenever i think about it. i got into writing fanfiction bc i was already a writer basically

just beat leon in swsh, heres some final thots: (spoilers and controversial onions ahoy, obvi)

-in terms of gameplay, i loved it. its pokemon, and plays like pokemon, so im going to love it as long as it does that.

-the pokedex was overall pretty good, and i really like some of the new editions, but feel kind of lackluster. the final starter evos dont really feel all that cool and important to me, tbh, but i think a lot of that feeling comes with how much i loved decidueye when i first saw it. it might just be this gen didnt tick as many boxes for me as gen 7 did, so its hard to judge on that merit.

-the point above but also eiscue is terrible and i hate it

-the first few gyms were very good and fun. i actually really enjoyed the gym puzzles. my favorite was opals because of what a troll she is. shes great

-the last two gyms were very disappointing. with how much i liked the gym puzzles the lack of them ruined a lot of the excitement. its the late game, these two should be the most fun and cool gyms. raihans is literally just an empty room. its this big castle in the center of the town which led me to think it would be really cool and big and exciting but... its a tiny enclosed dark room with a couple trainers in it.

-the semifinals were good

-i see a lot of people who dont like hop, and i was pretty meh about him until the semifinals when i started to really like him. his stepping up to the plate felt like more of a heel turn than a gradual transformation tho, i wish there had been at least one more section where you go through an area with him and heard him explore his self doubt

-above point leads into something ive seen a lot of people point out, but the story outside of the gym challenge is so disappointing. there arent really sections where you put your quest on hold to help people or stop some bad guys. people keep telling you to stay out of it. pokemon games usually make you feel like a hero, but swsh just makes me feel like a kid being told what to do a lot of the time.

-also exemplified in the boss fight with dynamax eternatus. zacian and zamazenta do most of the work, so like, why am i even here?? 

-its pretty clear that near the 2/3 point in the game some choices had to be made about what got fleshed out and what didnt. i understand why, and i wish the devs had more time and money and manpower and its not their fault. the things they did well they did *very* well, which makes the parts that had to be trimmed for time stick out more.

-i am not at all a fan of the entire dynamaxing gimmick. the only fun thing it really brought to the table was the raid battles in the wild area, which are fun and a cool way to get pokemon. (the togepi i got from one of the first ones i did stayed with me the whole game). the animation for it takes way too long, and i got through the whole ass game and only used it one time outside raids (to beat leons charizard since the only thing i had that could do anything to it was a togekiss with ancientpower)

-team yell was also very disappointing. they very much just felt like a diet team skull.

-rose and orleana were so, so disappointing as antagonists. the parts where you fight them and fight to get them are so short. what happened to frustratingly long buildings full of grunts, huh?? no teleport button puzzles or anything??? come on. a lot of bosses felt rewarding to get to and beat because of how many of their lackeys you had to go through to get to them or having to navigate their bases. roses motivation has a lot of potential to be interesting and cool but you hear about it so late in the game, with such a short conversation it makes the impact of it feel very lame.

-i did like looking for the guy with the key to the rose tower. that part was actually genuinely really charming and funny. like when you find him the second time and hes like ‘what, do you just talk to everyone you meet???’ made me laugh

-the game never really had a big test of endurance. even some of the easiest pokemon games had at least one long section with no healing other than items, and maybe one inconspicuous trainer somewhere who heals your pokemon.

-the wild area as a whole i really like.

-pokemon camp might be my least favorite of the affection minigames. its cute and fun and i do like the cooking minigame a lot. reminds me of making poffins. i wish there was an equivalent to the rainbow beans tho. idk, there might be some legendary recipe i dont know about or something. i also wish i could pet my friends :( overall i like it, but i like the other affection minigames more. even amie, which is grindy and tedious as shit

overall i did really enjoy the game but its very obvious it wasnt given the time and resources it needed and those parts of the game stick out a lot compared to the parts that are really good and charming. with both of those in mind id say it was probably not worth 60 dollars, but it is worth playing.
