My girlfriend and I are planning to travel to Estonia next summer but since we're lesbians, we were wondering if it'd be safe (especially outside Tallinn) and if there's something specific for us to pay attention to. Hmm, my knowledge on this is perhaps not accurate, but Estonians generally are very "not my business" kind of people when it comes to other people. For example, (overt) PDA isn't looked favourably upon even when straight couples are doing that.

You will get a lot of "just two girl ..... friends! just two friends who happen to be girls! yep just two buddy pal pals who are girls!!" energy from Estonians who are ignorant or willingly ignorant.

Tartu is pretty cool to hang out as LGBT, it's a university town so the population tends to be more youthful and accepting. Tartu is a great place to visit overall.

Honestly, I'd tag in @anamericaninestonia and @vikerruum (not allowing me to tag them rn idk), they might know better.

hooo boy let me tell you about the best linguist you’ve probably never heard aboutjan niecisław was a polish linguist (1845-1929), he got his phd from leipzig (with a thesis on old polish), then worked at kazan, dorpat (now tartu), krakow, warsaw, lublin and st petersburg and he just….. radiates chaotic neutral energy

📣 NEWS ALERT 📣 Few days ago, on Friday 1/11/19, our wonderful Estonian #OutintheOpen team, organized their local action activity in Tartu! . . 🌈 What was meaning to be a simple event of discussions and sharing of experiences about the project & the #lgbt+ spectrum, escalated into a full-scale bigger movement that activated big part of the country itself. . . 🏳️‍🌈 Read-through 🏳️‍🌈 Our dear partners from #Estonia are the Rouge Youthwork Centre, which belongs to the Rouge Municipality Government. The youth center is financed by the municipality and the youth workers are working directly under them. . . When the featured poster was shared inviting people to the event a few weeks ago, there was an immediate reaction from a Conservative newspaper, who reshared the poster with the title "the city government is financing gay propaganda", posting also names and pictures of the main representatives of the center. There were hateful comments on the page of the center, receiving of angry calls and a general negative backlash,which led to the organization of 2 protests against the LGBT+ events from the coalition Conservative Peoples Party of Estonia (EKRE). There was even a threat to burn down the youth center, therefore the event was relocated, and was communicated in private to the guests of it. . . This negative backlash, activated many organizations in Estonia in great support of our Estonian #OutintheOpen team, our Rouge youth centre partners and their whole incredible team! Our next jewelry-making workshop takes place on Tuesday, August 22th at 17:00 at Behemoth's centre. 🤩 Each participant will have an opportunity to create a beaded brooch from scratch using different beadwork technics. 🤯

🇪🇪 Koostöös Tartu 2024 Extended programmiga korraldame 1. juunil kl 21.30 Toomemäel DIY kleepsude valmistamise töötuba. ✂️ Üritus sobib nii algajatele kui kogenud kleepsumeistritele. 🧑‍🎨 Tule meiega meisterdama! 🎨

🇬🇧 We are hosting a sticker workshop in collaboration with Tartu 2024 Extended on June 1st at 21:30 at Toomemägi. ✂️ The event is suitable for beginners and those that already know all about making DIY stickers. 🧑‍🎨 Come and make some cool stickers with us! 🎨

🌈 Tähistamaks abieluvõrdsuse kehtestamist ja kordaläinud Uhkusekuu lõppemist, korraldame Toomemäel väikese vabas vormis kogunemise, kuhu ootame kõiki meiega tähistama! Teeme laheda pikniku, räägime juttu, leiame uusi sõpru ja veedame mõnusalt vabas õhus aega. 🐈‍⬛🐈

🏰 Kohtume 26. juunil kl 18 Toomemäel Toomkiriku varemete juures. Kui kl 17 selgub, et vihma sajab, siis saame hoopis Peemoti keskuses kokku.

🐾 Võta kaasa oma lemmiksnäkid, istumisalus ja parimad sõbrad, et meiega kaks tundi toredalt aega veeta! 😸

🌈 Let's celebrate the legalisation of same-sex marriage and this year's successful Pride month with a picnic! We'll have the coolest picnic ever – we can chat, make new queer friends, and spend time outside. 🐈‍⬛🐈

🏰 We will meet on June 26th at 18:00 next to the Dome Church ruins at Toome hill. If it starts raining or is still raining around 17:00, come to Behemoth's centre instead.

🐾 Take along your favourite snacks, something to sit on, and your friends, to spend two very fun hours with us! 😸
