Tapatio has saved whatever the fuck I was served that happened to be bland as shit.

I've put it on pizza, baked potato, french fries , hot dogs, just rice, crackers, just single pieces of meat etc.

A Late Evening Interlude

Kaiyo and Tio have a quiet moment of reflection. Both have been doing their best to keep their spirits high in the face of the others, but you can't keep running from your thoughts forever.

“Ah, here you are, Bubbles. Blomma said I might find you up here, dinner’s-”

Tio stopped as he drew up beside Kaiyo, who had taken to sitting on the roof and staring at the night sky, provided that Miyu and Tofu were elsewhere. She smiled up at him, but not before he had noticed the far away look in her eyes. And even her smile felt distant. Letting out a sigh through his nose, Tio crouched beside her.

“What’s on your mind?” he asked softly. Mahi met his gaze evenly.

“You’ve called me that since Tofu came to pick me up the last time, but do you remember why…?” she murmured. The expression on his face told her all she needed to know, and she gave a bittersweet giggle. “Don’t worry about it, love.”

Mahiru looked back out into the distance, her eyes darting from star to star. There weren’t as many out yet, as the sun had just set, but the desert sky was perfect in the dead of night when the inky abyss was full of them. She held out one hand, fingers splayed, her eyes once more far away as she hummed to herself.

“Do you…ever wish you could surround yourself with them? The stars, I mean,” she said, a longing smile on her face. Tio looked over at her before turning his gaze out towards the stars himself.

“I…don’t know if that’s something I’ve ever wished for. I don’t know what I want,” he answered after a moment of deliberation.

“Does it bother you?” she asked, looking over at him. He was quiet for a moment, a blank look on his face that held a quiet edge of sadness about it; it wasn’t an expression she was used to seeing on his face.

“I…I don’t know. Part of me wants to remember, but part of me wonders if it’s better that I’ve forgotten,” he finally replied. He didn’t see the hurt that crossed her features as he kept his eyes trained on the stars.

“Why might it be better that you’ve forgotten?” Her voice was soft, as if to hide the hurt.

“I wonder…what kind of person I was. What if I was a bad person before? I know that…not remembering wouldn’t absolve me of my wrong-doings, but at least, if I can’t remember any sins, perhaps I can still be a good role model for Hana,” he said. Kai drew her knees to her chest, resting her chin on them and wrapping her arms around her legs.

“Love, I don’t think you could have been much different now than you were before. If you ask me, I’d say you’re almost the exact same as you were back then,” she mumbled, reaching over and taking his hand in hers. He looked down at her in surprise, but she kept her face tilted just enough that her bangs obscured her face from his view. He tightened his hand around hers; it seemed they were both in need of comfort, and this was all he could think to do.

“You think so?” he asked.

“Of course I do.”

A long silence elapsed.

“One day, I’d like to sail the skies with you and Momma. At least once,” Kaiyo finally whispered.
