I jokingly asked that musician to play their cover of the one tallest man on earth song at their thing tonight but what they don’t know is it wasn’t a joke at all I would pay real ducking stupid amounts of money to see that specific stylized cover of that specific song so fast like I’ve never given further consideration to the idea of literally just offer to commission a musician to record and upload something

Too Late For Edelweiss The Tallest Man On Earth (Anti) (released in 2022 as a download only, finally released on physical media worldwide in 2023)
When COVID came to town, musicians worldwide had to figure out new ways to make money since touring was out. some, like Robyn Hitchcock, started a Patreon program and for a small amount of cash (five bucks, if I remember correctly) you could get some downloadable songs from his vault. Eventually this parlayed into a weekly live performance for one hour. Some artists, like Kristian Matsson aka The Tallest Man On Earth, just did live shows on youtube without charging anything. I watched a couple of them and they proved to be interesting. Comments from the audience flew across the screen as people conversed with him and he with us, treating us to songs of his own and a multitude of covers. One show he did he opened with Emmylou Harris' Where Will I Be and no one was familiar with it but yours truly. He highly recommended people investigate her album Wrecking Ball. That song doesn't figure on this covers album made during the pandemic (hence the album cover where he is covering his face) but many of these songs he did perform live on his youtube show. I've had this on download since I preordered it and I've played it only about three times, but I do enjoy it.
When I returned home from Chicago, this was one of three albums waiting on my upstairs steps. The above photos show the album cover, the gatefold and then the back of the album. It is pressed on white vinyl and you can see both shots of said vinyl below.

The Tiger Moths have announced their debut album: "When Sunshine Departs"
June 2023 - The Tiger Moths is a band with a truly one-of-a-kind sound and distinctive twist. The group’s music combines the edge of garage and alt-rock with the unique melodies of contemporary indie music. As a result, The Tiger Moths are able to make music that’s relatable and fun. "When Sunshine Departs", the band’s upcoming debut album, is a perfect introduction to the group’s kaleidoscopic vibes. The production immediately hits the audience with a retro flavor, akin to some of the best rock, beat, and revival folk groups of the 60s. The mix is very organic, highlighting the instinctive vocal performance and the interactions between the musicians in the band.
At its core, “When Sunshine Departs” offers 10 songs, which are often built on driving beat and a 60s inspired riffs. The opener, “Dreaming Of Yesterday” is a great example. The vocals are raw and emotive, and the instrumental is a fresh blend of folk, rock, and early rock-n-roll licks. There is room for all sorts of moods on this album. For instance, “The Wind In Your Sails” is a nostalgic ballad with some intricate guitar work and introspective lyrics, at times reminiscent of performers like The Tallest Man On Earth. “Fool For Your Love,” on the other hand flirts with classic rock aesthetics, tipping the hat off to singers such as Tom Petty. The drums are quite unique here, bringing something unexpected with some cool shuffled accents on the hi-hat!
Overall, this album has a timeless quality to it, and it captures the core essence of the great rock and folk crossover albums of the 60s and 70s. Still, this isn’t all about living in the past. The Tiger Moths bring a fresh, passionate edge to their sound!
The Tiger Moths’ music is highly recommended to fans of artists such as The Kinks, Wilco, Francis Moon and Bob Dylan, only to mention a few. "When Sunshine Departs" is impressive because of how it combines world-class production aesthetics with a spot-on arrangement and a very passionate flow.
Find out more, and stay tuned for the album’s release on June 16th 2023.

Music and Nature
This week’s course topic prompt made me feel really excited to write a blog post! Music is something I am very passionate about and practice often. I grew up playing different instruments, and now I play guitar almost every day. What first comes to mind when I think of music and nature is how I take every chance I have to play guitar outdoors. For some reason it just feels more meaningful this way, especially when there’s wildlife around. I always feel more inspired and connected to the world when I play outside, and I know that the way I play and the music I come up with is inspired by my environment.
I think that nature is inherently in music, and music is often a way for people to feel connected to nature. For instance, people often choose to listen to happier, brighter music in the summer, and slower music in the fall and winter. I think this is a way for people to connect to nature and meet their environment where it’s at. However, sometimes it is more intentional than this. Musicians often base their music off of nature. For example Vivaldi’s Four Seasons is four movements that each represent one of the four seasons. He did this by using instruments, melodies, and musical elements that resemble each season. Many musicians also use imagery of nature in their lyrics to add to the message of their song. One example of this is the artist The Tallest Man on Earth. I highly recommend listening to his music with this topic in mind!
This prompt also made me think of something I saw a few years ago, when I learned that there are people who record bird calls and transcribe them through music notes. The same thing can be done for frog mating calls. This is a clear example of how music exists in nature. All you have to do is simply go outside and listen, and you’ll experience the symphony of sounds that makes up nature. You can hear the call and response of birds, the blowing wind, a running stream, and rusting leaves. All these aspects of the environment have musical elements within them. These musical elements are also an extremely important tool in nature. Many species use specific songs to find a mate, or to communicate with other individuals of their species.
Overall, I think that music and nature are inherently intertwined. We can use music to appreciate nature, and we can use nature to appreciate and inspire music. I think music is also a really powerful tool for species to communicate to each other about the state of their environment (e.g. through warning calls), and that does not exclude humans. We can use music as a way to communicate environmental issues to one another, or to help others develop a stronger sense of connection and compassion for nature.

The Other Side of Hollywood
Part One
Tumblr media
Requested?: fuck no, I wrote this one all for my ownsome.
Word Count: 4.0K+
Author’s Note: My GOD! Julie and the Phantoms is amazing, and while I have the theory I enjoy it so much because I didn’t really have a ‘teenage years’, I really don’t give a shit. I’m writing Luke Patterson fluff and you can all suck it!
Warning: um, none yet. This is a very PG show so PG fic.
Context: This is a reader insert mini series. It goes from 1x05 of JATP until the end, I’ll be releasing a part every day/two days. It is Luke x Reader, as much as I love my Juke ship, so Luke and Julie’s relationship is a lot more friendly than in the show. Also, some scenes may be different, dialogue from the show is used, yada yada.
--
Some might not believe it, but life starts, properly starts, when you die. At least, it did for Y/N Y/L/N.
Her life on earth had been short, and dull, and ended tragically with plenty left undone: it didn’t surprise her that she came back as a ghost. If anything, she would have been a bit shocked if she hadn’t: she had, after all, died with so much potential wasted, so much she could have done.
She was lucky that Caleb had found her.
“5 minutes ladies!” A voice called from afar, receiving a chorus of ‘thank you five’ from around the dressing room as performers hurried to get the last of their makeup and hair done, readying for that’s night’s performance, and knocking Y/N from a stupor. She came back to reality, taking the lid off the lipstick she had been playing with for the last ten minutes and finally applying it, then proceeding to take the curlers out her hair and slip on her heels for the night. Caleb had mentioned for her to be on the look out for special guests in front, and she had dressed in her best costume for the occasion.
She heard a sigh of relief as she finally moved from the mirror, a few of the girls crowding the vanity to start applying their finishing touches, none of them brave enough to interrupt Y/N’s ponderings: she may have died at 17, but none of the dancers had been with the club as long as she had, none were as faithful to Caleb as she was.
She had been his right-hand woman for almost 25 years now, some of the staff had barely been there a quarter of that time.
Her heels clicked as she headed for the stage, blowing a pin curl from her face and tucking it back into place as she took a spot on the stage and looked out at the crowd forming: from the looks of it, that night would be their busiest all week. The lifers were starting to settle at tables, collecting the last drinks before the opening number of the evening, mingling with excitement in the air and secrecy on their lips: they were getting to experience something forbidden, something beyond reality, after all.
She scanned the room, looking for the familiar face she had grown to love over the past decades, finally finding him stood in his best tuxedo – which consisted of a tailcoat, patterned black and gold shirt, and a pair of tailored board shorts – at the foot of the staircase with three boys around the same age as them, all watching in awe as lifers passed through them and proceeding to question her best friend.
“Willie!” She called, running over with a wave and a smile to him and the trio, getting a good look at them all as Willie’s arm came around her waist and hugged her into his side. The first, a familiar looking tall, lanky blonde kid in a jean jacket that Y/N was sure was the guy Willie had been gushing over just an hour or so earlier; the second was the tallest, close to a foot taller than Y/N herself, with quiffed black hair slicked back with gel, dressed like a new age Rockstar in leather and red colours. And then the third, with a dopey grin and a mop of chocolate hair on his head, paired with a painted denim overcoat and obscure band tee underneath, who unashamedly looked her over as she stood at Willie’s side.
“Guys, this is Y/N, my best friend.” Willie introduced her to be met with raised eyebrows from the three. By appearance alone, Willie constantly in a state of casual skater attire, and Y/N stood in front of them with pin curls, high heels and a blue sequin number that accentuated every one of her features, it just didn’t seem like they could be friends. “She looks a lot different in the day time.”
“Very funny William.” Y/N quipped back, elbowing him playfully in the side. “Why don’t I show you all to your table?” She offered, holding out a hand to the one in the leather jacket, who took her hand with a slack jaw and dumbfounded nod of the head.
“Yes, yes please.” He managed, and Y/N led the four down to their table, front and centre. “I’m Reggie, by the way. And that’s Alex and Luke. We’re in a band… Actually, we’re here tonight because-” Reggie started to ramble, but Y/N held a manicured finger to his lips, an innocent smile on her face.
“We don’t talk business here. You sit down and enjoy the show, alright? I’m sure Willie can keep you company, sort you boys out.” She said with a flirty tone, a habit she had grown into working the HGC scene: easier to flirt with the guests, often means a bigger pay-out by the end of the night. Willie pulled out a chair for Alex, the blonde one, who smiled shyly at her friend and sat down, Luke the last to take his place at the table.
“Y/N, is it?” He asked, looking her over a second time. He sat back in his chair, a smirk on his face as she came closer, her hand resting on the back of his chair.
“Careful there handsome, I don’t fraternise with guests.” She laughed a little as she said it, blowing a kiss in his direction before disappearing back stage for the show, soon to start. It took Luke a second to look away, to focus back on what the three had come there for: their old bandmate had stolen their music, passed it off as his own, and they were quite intent on making him pay.
“Ok, so, who’s going to make us visible so we can confront our old band mate?” He asked Willie, looking around the room at the lifers, wondering if one of them had the same weird power Julie seemed to possess.
“Oh, no, no, none of these lifers have the power to do that.” Willie corrected, just as music started up from the stage. “Oh, but here comes the ghost who does.” Willie drummed his fingers on the table in excitement, leaving the three bandmates rather confused. Willie had brought them there with no real information about what or who they were meeting.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” a male voice announced from nowhere in particular, “Back from the dead by popular demand, please welcome Caleb Covington.” The words were met with applause and cheers from the crowd, Willie letting out a few whoops and prompting the boys to start clapping as in a puff of purple smoke, a man appeared in the middle of the air.
“Did you miss me?” he asked, reaching his arms out in a gesture of thanks to the loving crowds, dressed in black and purple satin. He was met with a collective ‘hell yeah’ from the audience, causing Reggie, Luke and Alex to share side glances, all a little on edge. “I did too!” He responded, met with laughter and more cheers. “Welcome to the party of your dreams!” He introduced, his voice commanding attention and respect, not to mention his floating in mid-air. “From the Egyptians to the Druids, to the person sitting next to you, we’ve all wondered ‘where do we go when that final light is snuffed out’?” The bandmates couldn’t deny, this Caleb guy was certainly intriguing. “Let me show you.
“Let me introduce myself, we’ve got some time to kill. Consider me the pearly gates to your new favourite thrills.” He moved forward in the air, floating closer and closer to the boys’ table at the front, and Luke couldn’t help but feel that Caleb was singing to them, to him. “We could go make history or you could rest in peace, but here there ain’t no misery cause on the other side we live like kings.
“Whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do? Let your body loose, let your body loose. Whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do? Show you a thing or two cause you ain’t seen nothing…” With a flick of his cape as he landed down, the stage suddenly filled with musicians and dancers, all ghosts that had been invisible to even the four dead boys in the front.
“Life, is good on the other side of Hollywood.” The song continued, and as his counterparts took in the full ensemble on stage, Luke found his eyes drifting to the girl they had met, Willie’s friend Y/N. She had managed in the few moments from leaving to arriving on stage to have sprayed a lock of her curls blue, and come into possession of a feather fan the same colours as her dress. Another girl stood across the stage in the same attire, except she also sported a blue wig and headpiece, which it seems Y/N had forgone.
Luke had reason to stare of course: not only was she beautiful, but a talented dancer, and as Caleb sang away she joined in on backing vocals, the pair linking arms as she danced around him, then spun into a dip, Caleb’s arm holding her steady as she fluttered her fan. Movement around them snatched his attention from her, waiters in pink suits coming from all sides to form a circle around Caleb.
What followed was a barrage of temptation: from the countless desserts circling past to the girl that appeared from under their table cloth to the trapeze artists and the dancing that got everyone on their feet and cheering along. It was only after Caleb ended the number by disappearing thanks to the help of Y/N and her fellow fan girl that the room finally settled down a little.
“This is so cool…” Reggie muttered, waving to some lifers across the room: they could see him, see them: actually see them.
“Dude, I knew I recognised him.” Alex gestured, pulling Reggie’s attention from his apparent visibility and Luke’s from scanning the room for a certain girl in blue. “He’s the guy that bumped into me outside the Orpheum.”
“Wait. Isn’t he that magician dude that died a horrible death doing a trick?” Reggie asked Willie, who laughed a little in response.
“Yeah, but I wouldn’t bring that up whenever we meet him.” Alex scolded Reggie, who rolled his eyes in response.
“Yeah, but you should come back when he shows one of his movies.” Willie interjected with a grin. “I mean, for Titanic, he literally floods the entire place. I mean, the guy has got skills.”
“Alright, but he can, like, wave his arms and make ghosts visible to lifers?” Luke asked, perhaps the most rooted in reality after the performance, still quite set on their goal for coming here, for cutting it short of their performance with Julie.
“Told you, the guy’s got skills.” Willie shrugged, and Reggie looked back at the stage.
“So, uh, where’d he go?” He asked, taking a glance into the stage wings before turning back round and jumping back about a foot in surprise, Caleb stood right behind Alex and Luke. “Oh wow! Found him! Ha!”
“Hello boys, Caleb Covington. Welcome to the Hollywood Ghost Club.” Caleb introduced himself, a smile on his face and the accent of a fifties radio presenter. “Enjoying the show?” He asked, and Luke took lead.
“That was… I mean… Did you… Like…” He tried to articulate it, but found his mind going back to the girl in the blue dress and went a little red, and gave up trying to find the words, letting his appraising arms fall to their sides.
“I know.” Caleb responded with a light chuckle.
“This is Alex, Luke, and Reggie.” Willie introduced them all to Caleb.
“it’s really nice to meet you.” Alex offered, Reggie following it with a peace sign and a ‘sup?’, which put a smile on Caleb’s face.
“The pleasure is all mine. Nothing warms my heart more than sharing this magic with new friends.” Caleb explained, gesturing for the boys to take a seat as he took one of his own. “Now, our friend Willie here tells me you guys have some magic of your own?” He questioned Alex, who’s eyes widened at the man’s quizzing.
“Willie and I? I wouldn’t call it magic exactl-” Alex started his response, his voice getting squeakier as he went on, but was quickly cut off by Willie’s hand on his shoulder.
“He means your ghost abilities. You know, like, to be seen by everybody when you play with Julie.” Willie corrected. Alex started an apology, but Caleb raised a hand, showing it wasn’t needed.
“Yeah, but we can’t really wave our arms and do all this magic stuff.” Luke added, but Caleb didn’t seem phased by his humbling of their ability.
“Well, I’ve had some practice. Our gifts are so rare, so special. It’s not often I come across other spirits who possess similar talents.” Caleb explained. “It’s no surprise we found each other.”
“Yeah, that… definitely…” Luke agreed, and Caleb smile briefly, standing from his chair.
“If you’ll forgive me fellas, I gotta go pay the bills, if you know what I’m saying. I’ll be back later to chat.” The host excused himself, all of their eyes following to find Willie’s friend Y/N stood in a black dress, waiting for Caleb. “My darling! Oh, look at that dress! Where have you been?” He asked her.
Unbeknownst to the bandmates, Willie and Y/N shared a glance as Caleb took her by the waist and led her towards the back stage area, and Willie checked the time.
9.10… The boys were late to their gig, and if the Hollywood Ghost Club had anything to do with it, they would never arrive.
--
As the night continued on, and after Reggie learned the shocking revelations that not only was Han Solo killed in the Star Wars franchise, but that they added a character named Jar Jar Binks, Willie found himself fleeing for a moment. He had spent the entire night with Alex, and the more time he spent with him, the more he liked the guy.
Willie needed some air, a break, and in searching for it he ran into Y/N.
“Aren’t you meant to be out there? Flirting with the lanky one?” She asked with a teasing tone, running her fingers through her curls, slowly separating them into waves. “He’s cute, I’ll give you that. And your type. And dead, which is a huge bonus. I’m tired of watching crush over men you can’t actually touch.”
“Yeah well… He was asking too many questions, didn’t want to spook him.” Willie shrugged, rubbing his arm. He didn’t like the feeling in his stomach, and Y/N could tell he felt off.
“Do you need to sit this out? I can keep them entertained; I have a feeling the one in denim has arms like Adonis.” She offered with a giggle, and Willie frowned a little. “Oh come on, Willie… It’s not like they’re being branded or anything. We’re just…” She paused, glancing over as she spotted Caleb talking to the trio, then offering them stacked plates of food. “We’re perks to the package.” She winked at her friend, who rolled his eyes at her words and pulled her to his side for a hug.
“You make it sound like the dream job.” Willie chuckled, hanging his head a little.
“Isn’t it?” Y/N raised a brow, and squished his face between her fingers before planting a kiss on his cheek. “Let them eat for a while, join them later if you feel up to it. I’ll be getting denim on the dance floor though.” She shrugged, heading to go fix her makeup when Willie got her arm.
“His name is Luke… And from what I can tell, he’s actually a pretty nice guy.” He told her, met with a smirk and batting eyelashes.
“Just how I like them.” She replied, pulling her arm away and heading back to the dressing room, leaving Willie in a state of quandary.
By the time the final performance of the night was ready to begin, Reggie, Alex and Luke had eaten three platefuls of food each, having forgotten what pizza and burgers and meatball subs actually tasted like. And as Reggie found himself defending kissing his meatball sub to Alex, Luke felt a tap on his shoulder, and he turned to see Y/N stood behind him with a smirk painted on red lips.
“Well, how can I be of service?” He asked her, wiping the last traces of pizza grease from his fingertips onto his jeans, earning a genuine smile from the glamour model of a woman.
“It’s what I can do for you…” She replied, holding out a hand to him. “You’ll be in need of a dance partner shortly.” She explained as Caleb took the stage, starting his monologue about how “we do dessert”.
“I thought you said you didn’t fraternise.” Luke reminded as the music started up and the dance floor filled, the room once again alive with cheers and clapping. Y/N walked backwards into the middle of the floor, Willie quickly joining her centre stage as the beat picked up on entry into the chorus and the room got to their feet.
“You’re the exception to the rule, Denim.” Y/N called back, Luke grinning at the nickname she had given him, earning a nudge from Alex. He swatted his friend playfully as the three of them watched Y/N and Willie join in a huge dance routine.
Life is good on the other side of Hollywood.
Caleb’s voice resonated in the air as waiters, showgirls, and the like all started pulling patrons onto the floor with them. Caleb approached the trio, beckoning the girl who had popped up from their table earlier that night to dance her way through each bandmate: ending with a shimmy to the floor in front of Reggie that had the poor boy near unconscious.
As one of the girls in blue took the recovering Reggie onto the dance floor, and as Alex wondered where Willie had disappeared to, Y/N made her way over to Luke and offered her hand. This time, instead of asking questions, Luke took it eagerly. He didn’t hesitate in walking her on to the dance floor though, instead pulling her close by the waist as her hands rested on his chest.
“You know how to jive?” She asked him, the pair stood still for a moment amongst the chaos around them. There was so much of it, Y/N almost didn’t notice Caleb sending Willie backstage with a flick of his finger, but she was quickly pulled from her thoughts. Luke had responded to her question by taking her hand and spinning her out before coiling her back in. Her arms went over his head, Luke spinning this time as they began kicking feet in perfect synchronicity and in time with the music. Luke pulled Y/N close, lifting her up and spinning with her, causing the girl to shriek and throw her head back in laughter.
As the song came to an end, Y/N glanced back to the stage and received a firm nod from the belting host, her cue to leave. She spun Luke out of her grasp once she hit the floor, handing him over to one of the show girls who promptly dipped him at the same time as Reggie fell for the same move, leaving both boys laughing as Y/N disappeared behind the stage.
She and Willie had both done their jobs after all, she could go back to her room for the night, get some rest. She walked over to her vanity backstage, wiping away the stage makeup, brushing out her curls, and changing into more comfortable clothes. She only stopped when she heard the gong of the club’s clock.
Midnight.
She sighed, glancing in the mirror one last time before heading out to the front of house, noticing the boys she had been acquainted with that night were no longer on the floor, instead making a bee-line for the exit. Her feet were quick to follow, slowing only when Caleb poofed into place in front of the fleeing teens.
“Gentlemen, what’s the rush?” He asked, his eyes catching on Y/N for a moment as she disappeared back into the crowds. “The party’s just getting started, and you have eternity, after all.” He reminded them with a cheerful smile.
“You know that girl who can see us? We sort of bailed on her.” Reggie began through ragged breath, thanks to Alex and Luke pulling him from the dancefloor. “See, there’s this dance at her school and her friend Flynn is a super cool DJ, like-”
“Ok, I don’t think he has an eternity to hear the story.” Alex interrupted.
“Basically, we’re late for a gig.” Luke finished, and Caleb frowned at the words, prompting an eavesdropping Y/N to step a touch closer.
“But what about my offer?” Caleb asked, raising a disapproving eyebrow.
“It’s very cool of you, Mr Covington, but, like I said, we already have a-” Luke began again, but Caleb raised his hands in defeat.
“A band of your own.” He finished for the boys, Y/N pondering it over. Had Caleb wanted the three for the house band? “I understand… But boys, if you ever want to come back and fix that little problem with your friend, the Hollywood Ghost Club is always open.”
And there it was, the final temptation.
“Yeah man, we’d love to come back.” Luke smiled.
“Music to my ears!” Caleb returned the affectionate expression, offering a hand to each of the boys in turn. With each shake, the boys pulled back, a mark becoming branded on their wrist. When they frowned at the symbol, Caleb interrupted. “Oh, it’s just a little club stamp.” He assured, and their faces lit back up again. “Until next time.” Luke was first to exit, and Y/N followed after him quickly, stopping him just before he reached the stairs to leave.
“You’ve got good feet on you…” She said with a smile, catching him by surprising and evoking a smile.
“You’re not half bad yourself…” He countered, taking a few steps closer. She held a finger up for a moment, walking over to a table on the far side of the room and picking up a pen before returning.
“Arm.” She demanded, and Luke held it out willingly. Y/N frowned for a second, noticing the marking on his wrist, but didn’t let it stop her from pushing up his sleeve and writing a phone number on his arm. “You might think it’s bizarre, but I have access to a landline. There’s one at the club. Call me if you decide on coming back… Or…” She blushed a little, and Luke grinned.
“Or if I want to call up the pretty showgirl and see her outside of the club? I will.” He assured her, puling his sleeve back down as Reggie walked out the club, his eyes widening at the pair, having to take a second glance at Y/N out of her costume: while neither he nor Luke could read minds, they were both thinking the same thing.
Y/N somehow looked even better out of her showgirl get up.
Perhaps it was the mismatched converse high tops, or the fishnet tights under her ripped shorts, maybe it was the ripped band tee displaying the iron maiden cover art, Luke wasn’t sure. But she was gorgeous, and knowing she seemed to like what he did just added to the fact.
“See you around, Denim.” Y/N smiled, lifting the collar of his jacket for a moment before letting it go and heading inside, walking past Alex as she went.
“Was that Willie’s friend?” He asked in surprise, Reggie nodding.
“I think Luke’s in love.” He teased, earning a punch on the arm from the band’s led guitarist.
“Shut it, Reggie. Now, let’s get to that dance.” Luke quickly reminded them, the three quickly disappearing with the destination of Julie’s school in mind, all of them preparing for a major scolding for being three hours late.

Can you describe what they, your dunebabies, look like?
Ohh Good Questions Anon! I'm currently drawing them all out. I only have the triplets, so I'll post that one. But let me pull out my descriptions for you.
Gyatso: Pretty much looks like Aang, but a bit shorter. Bald, but has black hair when he doesn’t shave. No facial hair. Has classic Air Nation grey eyes.
Lin: Like the character in LOK, though as a teenager, I may change Lin’s hairstyle to a braid or something. She gets the scars on her face in a different way than in LOK, though. (while Lin and Suyin clash, Su isn't the reason why she got her scars. Lin is going to be muscular, tough, and tall. Her eyes are mostly green, but become hazel on the outside.
Tenzin: Similar to LOK, though I want him to have green eyes like Lin does. They think he and Lin are going to be earthbenders, but he turns out to be an airbender, much to Aang’s joy. Tenzin is about the same height as Aang.
Suyin: Similar to the show, though she isn't as tan bc she's a taang kid lol. She's short about 5'5, but is taller than Toph (everyone is taller than Toph though. She also has piercing grey eyes.
Songa and Kera are identical twins, so they look exactly the same. Only Toph and their triplet Choekyi can tell them apart until Songa earns her tattoos and when Kera comes back from the Fire Nation with a new hairstyle. Both are short, but not as short as Toph, have longer faces, and jade green eyes. Songa leaves her hair long with a braid that wraps around her head. Kera usually wears her hair in a high ponytail lightens her tips to represent her time in the Fire Nation.
Choekyi is tall! Like really tall. He’s even taller than Aang by the time he is 15. He has a long face like his sisters and but has the classic grey airbender eyes instead of the jade green eyes Songa and Kera have. He’s not particularly muscular, more a lanky guy, but he’s stronger than he looks. Choekyi is the tallest in his family.
Tumblr media
From left to right: Songa, Choekyi, and Kera. Songa and Kera don't look short, but their hair makes them look teller (and Aang has them standing on a lifted slab of rock 😂)
Gyun’s eyes are ember to brownish color like traditional firebenders and sticks out in family photos. His siblings joke that Zuko is actually his dad, not Aang. Aang then goes into a deep very detailed account of the potential nights that he and Toph conceived Gyun and the siblings get grossed out and leave the topic alone. Gyun is an elegant looking man, though how could he not be as an actor and musician. He wears his hair in a topknot like Lao, but has long hair when it’s down. He has an oval face that’s perfect for stage makeup and is decently built and around 5’11.
MeiLin has a round face and plump lips. Her eyes are a rare purple color. No one has ever seen that eye color before, ever, and that’s part of the draw of her beauty. Though they can be seen as a dark blue in some light. She has long lush hair, like Toph, and usually wears in it a large bun, like her mom, or in two tighter buns. She’s small in stature but is surprisingly strong thanks to her training with Mai, Ty Lee, and Suki.
Tiao Wu is the shortest male among the dunbabies, but is taller than all the girls except Lin. He doesn’t mind being short though. It keeps him closer to the earth and allows him to have really good balance for his acrobatics and dancing. He’s also bulky, like The Boulder, which makes him seem intimidating, but he’s actually a sweetheart. His eyes are dark green with flecks of gold.
Idk, that's how I kind of envision them. Is that what you imagined them looking like?
If you wanna read other posts here
When I have all dunebabies drawn, I will make a separate post on all of them and link here.

(Lord of the Rings) Hunted (Legolas X Reader)
Chapter summary: You are a travelling musician and are walking through Mirkwood. Though unfortunately for you, there are also orcs running from Mordor and trying to escape elven eyes. And even more unfortunate is that your paths cross...
S/T   = Skin Tone
No POV
Legolas rode his white equine mount to the edge of the Mirkwood forest, slowing his steed to a stop at the wall of trees. Finally, he was home. After over 60 years of being away from the Elvenking’s Halls, he was home. His icy blue eyes scanned the trees before him. Although 60 years wasn’t much to an elf, he had missed his home terribly.
He slid off his steed’s saddle, landing on the ground lightly. He looked up at the trees one more time before turning to his mount. The grey mare stood before him, gnawing on her bit. She had carried him to and from Rohan into battle twice and had made it out alive. He was sad to see her go, but he had to do what he must.
He removed her tack and stroked her face, whispering to her of his thanks. Finally, he stood back and shouldered his bag. “Lerta, mellon nin “ Be free, my friend.
The mare bowed her head at him and trotted off, nickering in her wake. Legolas smiled to himself and walked towards the trees. But then he heard something. Three grunting, grumbling, growling voices, speaking in a twisted tongue. One he had heard before.
Orcs had made their way to Mirkwood
(Y/N)’s POV
I walked through the pale moonlight that shone down through the green canopy of Mirkwood. A cool night breeze wove through my hair as I walked down the narrow path that ran alongside the mighty trees of the forest. I lifted the front of my knee-length skirt as my trousered legs stepped over a log. I was travelling south from Dale. Walking through the outskirts of Mirkwood was a normal part of my journey, as it provides cover from the elements.
I’m a wandering traveller that makes money by playing music in towns. And having heard that Mordor has fallen, I thought that maybe the nearby towns could do with some cheery music from my flute. I’m not the only one with that thought. I ran into some travellers in Dale, and they had similar plans. To gather the story of how Mordor fell was one of their aims.
Often enough I hear a rustling in the trees and vegetation around me and the odd time I run into elves, but as long as I don’t trouble them, they don’t trouble me. But this time, the sounds I was hearing were too heavy to be an elf. I could hear heavy footsteps treading on vegetation and the loud clanking of armour. Among the clanking and crunching, I heard heavy breathing and a lot of grumbling.
I spun around, trying to see who else might be in the forest. I grabbed my dagger from my belt, holding it in front of me in defence. I heard a growl come from behind me before hearing rushed footsteps come my way. I sprinted off the path, dumping my travelling bag to make myself lighter. I heard three sets of heavy, jogging footsteps behind me. I glanced back. I saw three dark, armoured figures running after me, one was bigger and burlier than the others.
I kept running. My breathing was unbalanced as I was panicking as I ran. And so my legs became heavy soon after the chase began. Not to mention the uneven terrain of the forest floor, making it harder to keep my strides smooth.
Then I heard a sword being drawn. The unmistakable sound of metal rasping against its scabbard. I spun around to see my attackers as they came to a stop. The moonlight showed me their skin tones weren’t human or elf-like. The tallest one had black skin with purple blotches around his mouth and cheeks. His lips were pierced together. He almost looked like he was about to bellow at a misbehaving child. One of the smaller ones was an ugly shade of green, it was almost a vomit-like shade. He didn’t have much of a nose, and his teeth jutted out awfully. The smallest one was a stone shade of grey. He had huge ears and the most striking set of red eyes. All of them had very thin, wiry, dry hair and pointed teeth.
They had to be orcs. They couldn’t be anything else, there was no doubt about it.
The big one stepped forward. His silver eyes scanned me briefly. In his hand was a blunt, jagged sword. I bolted, but he caught my arm and ripped the dagger from my hand with ease. As he tore it from me, he cut my cheek with it and locked his arm around me, pressing my dagger against my neck.
“Squeal and I’ll gut you,” he said in a hushed tone. His fowl breath attacked my nostrils. I shuddered in his grip.
The cold dagger nipped at my throat, my cheek throbbed from the freshly made cut. Hot blood trickled down my (S/T) face. The green-faced orc stalked over to me and licked his ugly lips with a disgusting slurping sound. And spoke to the burly black-face one that held me. I do not understand what he said, but the big guy growled and snarled something back, making the green one flinch.
My breath is shaky as the three orcs talk amongst themselves. The small grey one with red eyes and huge pointy ears seemed to be a peacekeeper while the big black one and the green one were arguing about their intentions for me.
Amid it all, there was little petrified me. My legs were shaking beneath me with fear as the orcs argued. I looked around frantically, hoping there was some elf nearby. The orcs continued to argue, not noticing a figure hopping from tree to tree in our direction.
It had to be an elf; no other creature in Middle-earth could move so elegantly through the trees. The figure stopped a few dozen feet away, standing steadily on a branch before pulling out a bow and pulling back an arrow.
I looked back down, focusing on the arguing orcs so the elven figure wouldn’t be spotted. They then loosed their arrow, shooting the grey one with huge ears. He collapsed to the ground before the green one had an arrow embedded in his chest. He fell on top of his orc brother; the light fading from his yellow eyes as he fell.
I stumbled back as the biggest orc threw me and my dagger to the ground. The figure jumped from the tree and rushed towards the orc. All I could see was their boots from my place on the ground. The black orc stood in a half hunched position and readied himself as the elf drew their sword. The elf and orc exchanged a few blows before I saw a sliver of silver protrude from the orc’s back. He removed the sword from the orc’s body, and he fell to his knees. He released a dying groan as he collapsed onto his chest.
I look up at my rescuer. He was a male elf with dark eyebrows and the most luscious of blond locks. He sheathed his sword, his icy blue eyes never leaving the dead orcs’ bodies. I flushed a little. He was handsome. He wore a grey tunic, with a brown short-sleeved jacket, completed with black leggings, leather bracers and boots along with a green cloak, held on by a green leaf pin.
“Are you all right?” He asked, bending down to pick up my dagger. I barely heard his words because his beauty distracted me.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m all right,” I force out.
The elf handed me back my dagger and helped me to my feet. “Are you sure? That wound doesn’t look great.” He eyed my wound and touched my chin with his thumb, tilting my face so he could get a better look at it. His hand was soft against my face. No man would ever have such soft skin. I didn’t respond, I only looked at him. He lowered his hand and tore off a piece of his grey tunic and held it against the wound, soaking up my warm blood. “Hold that and come with me,” were his only words.
We walked back towards the trail. As we neared the path, he bent down to pick up something. It was my travelling bag. He shouldered the bag as I reached for it. “I’m Legolas,” he introduced himself we stepped back onto it, our boots touching the dry dirt.
“I’m (Y/N),” I replied, trying to reach for the bag again.
“It’s fine. So, what brings a human into Mirkwood?” He asked, shifting the bag better onto his shoulder. I explained the Legolas my reason behind entering the woods and that I would do it often on my travels. He then explained that he had come from Mordor and that he had been travelling with the Fellowship of the Ring. I was a little surprised. But didn’t ask questions. Not yet.
He led me down some twisting, winding paths that led to tunnel in stone. We entered, it was big enough for one person to walk through comfortably, and then the tunnel widened a little and we emerged in a warm light.
“Welcome to the Elvenking’s Halls,” said Legolas A few armoured elves stood along the wider part of the tunnel. We then travelled down the rest of the tunnel and emerged in an enormous hall. It was bare, apart from some purple and red tapestries with gold elvish writing. Legolas led me through the halls, I felt the blood from the wound ticking onto my hand. Along the way, Legolas ran into a red-haired female elf. She seemed delighted to see Legolas again. They talked to each other in their language. I saw Legolas shake his head and gesture to me. The female elf looked at me and I smiled awkwardly. She asked him something, and this time he nodded and spoke in a grateful tone. The female elf nodded once more and passed us, smiling at me as I clutched my cheek.
Legolas led me up to a large bedroom. There was a large double bed, writing desk and a few bows and arrows held on the wall. The only light in the room was the moonlight that passed through the window and its net curtain. The double bed was on a level two steps higher than the rest of the room. There was a child’s bow on the bed. Legolas looked around the room slowly, taking it all in. He placed his and my bags on the ground at the end of the bed.
“Sit on the bed, and I’ll get what I need to heal you,” Legolas said, gesturing to his bed. I walked over to the bed, sitting on it slowly, seeping into the mattress.
Legolas came back with some sphagnum moss and some warm water to clean out the wound. As he tended to the wound, he sang softly in Elvish. I noticed the pain fading. He gently poked around the wound as he cleaned it. He dipped the moss into the bowl of water, turning the water a pink colour. I hadn’t realised that we had locked eyes during the whole procedure. Eventually, I broke the silence.
“So, what was it like, travelling with the Fellowship?”
He smiled, pressing the moss into the water. His smile made my heart melt. Why did he have to be so beautiful?
“It wasn’t all that bad, we just got split into three groups for most of the journey... And we lost a man...” He looked away at the wavering net curtain by the open balcony door.
I tilted my head in sympathy, but also telling him I wanted to know more. He looked at me and saw my expression. He drew in a silent breath.
Legolas told me about how he left Mirkwood to find a Ranger called Strider, who is now King Aragorn of Gondor. He told me about how he met the other members of the Fellowship in Rivendale. He explained how Saruoman tracked them and how they had thought they had lost Gandalf. How difficult it had been to keep going after losing him. He told me about how Boromir died and how Samwise and Frodo separated from the group; he talked about finding Pippin and Merry and how Gandalf had become a White Wizard. He talks about how they took down Isengard and Saruman after travelling to Rohan. He worked through the events of Gondor and their battle at Mordor before finding Frodo and taking him to Gondor to recover. And gave a brief rundown of Aragorn’s coronation.
As he recounted his tale, I felt his pride, hurt and anger as my own. I took his hand in mine when he got to Gandalf’s presumed death. It really had hit him hard because elves are immortal, they don’t die. He mentioned how he couldn’t believe that Gandalf was gone and was confused about it all. All the while he looked into my eyes and we edged closer to each other.
He sounded hurt when he mentioned parting with the rest of the Fellowship after the coronation. He seemed to be closer to Gimli than the rest, which I found funny because of what I’ve heard about Thranduil, Legolas’ father, he’s not keen on dwarves, and dwarves aren’t keen on elves.
It took hours for him to recount his full tale. It took so long that the first few rays of sunlight beamed through the windows, into the room before he had finished.
Legolas rose to his feet. He seemed ashamed to have told me his account. I reached for his hand.
“Thank you, Legolas. It was an honour to hear the story from someone who was there,” I said, gratitude clinging to the words. He smiled softly and looked out the window.
“I’ll try to get some food for you, make yourself at home. I may not be back for a while.” I gave him a questioning look.
“I have an audience with the king,” he said, walking out of the room and softly closing the door behind him.

Happy Birthday.
Happy 80th birthday to Bob Dylan!  There’s not much more to say about Bob Dylan that hasn’t been said already, so I will keep it brief.  In terms of my musical influence, Dylan is up there with Bruce, Prince, The Beatles and Elvis.  And hardly any other person, let alone musician, has influenced the way that I think. As Bruce said so eloquently in 2003…”Bob is one of the greatest.  Now and forever”.
To celebrate Dylan’s 80th birthday, I put together 3 playlists. Volume 1 contains 20 songs that each have at least one literary reference.  Volume 2 contains 20 songs that each reference Dylan.  And Volume 3 contains 20 of my favorite Dylan songs.
