Reasons Every DS Harvest Moon Game Could Use a Remake

DS/Cute: Collectathons in general have been immensely underserved, and this one is even a life sim with other things to do! Also it’d be nice to have a version of this game that isn’t inclined to delete every NPC from your save file if you look at it funny.

Island of Happiness: But, like, could you imagine if this game had an actually functional control scheme?

Sunshine Islands: Another collectathon, this one not closely related to something that was remade recently. Also has an interesting hidden skill-progression system.

Grand Bazaar: This game is so niche that despite owning a copy I still have to actively remind myself that it’s real. Which is a shame, the bazaar system is fun. I bet a lot of people don’t even know Dirk and Amir debuted here.

Tale of Two Towns: Look, it’s on two systems already. Why not expand that a little more?

Hehe, I had a few requests for this one.

I was going to say that there aren't really that many characters I dislike, and most of them are due to the writing being kind of weak. But... I did think of a character I don't care for. Unfortunately, I feel like she's an easy target, because I don't think she's very popular to begin with, at least as far as I know.

I also feel kinda bad putting a child on here, but my biggest problem is the writing for her and her lack of depth. I am not a fan of the possessive sibling trope (I see Rick as more overprotective, which is different, and I also feel like he has more layers). To be fair, I never wooed Ash, Cheryl's older brother, so I don't know if her personality develops throughout the game, but her constant quests for items to scare away potential suitors for her brother got old really fast for me.

I don't mind when a younger sibling looks up to an older one and idolizes them to a degree, but she has a bit of a sibling complex and it's a little uncomfortable for me.

If she does get growth in the game if you marry Ash, I'd love to know, because i feel like there's a lot of missed potential here for a well-written child character. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping she grows and changes!
