Seven Several Sentences Sunday
I was tagged by @alliaskisthepossibilityoflove and I'm about to work a ten-hour shift so before that hits, have a snippet!
“It’s not about money,” Eddie mutters.
Buck turns to him, folding himself like origami on his chair. “Okay, what’s really going on here?”
“Going on?”
“Don’t play me for a fool, Imbolc. I know when something’s up with you. Why do you want to avoid the mountain pass?” Buck pauses, lets the silence linger. “You can talk to me. It’s okay.”
He remembers when they’d stopped by his parents’ house in El Paso, and things had been tense. Not enough that it was a stilted dinner, but enough that Hen and Buck had picked up on it. Buck had cornered him at the bathroom afterwards, and Eddie’d told him the truth: it was the first time he’d seen them since they’d tried to take his son.
“Listen to me,” Buck had whispered, his voice completely devoid of the softness that usually infused it. “They will never take Chris from you. Ever.”
I know, Eddie had thought. They can’t, now, because I gave him to you.
Buck’s never said that he wished Eddie had told him sooner. But he still thinks it was unfair, in retrospect, to let Buck wade into that without knowing the truth. If he could go back in time, he’d tell Buck before. He’d let himself bask in Buck’s righteous, protective fury.
And because this isn’t real life—because this is D&D—he can do that. He can be selfish.
You are all SO lucky I love you and shared a Buddie fic and not my rarepair that's rotating around in my head like a rotisserie chicken.
When Bobby said that D&D could be a bit of wish fulfillment this isn't exactly what he meant...

favourite colour: i’m a very boring person really so i’m gonna just say blue
song stuck in head: before i put on my playlist it was broken sleep by agnes obel
last song i listened to: float by flogging molly which i sort of rediscovered because of obscurify recently
three favourite foods: oh man probably saag paneer, thai green curry, and my own recipe burgers actually
last thing i googled: i think it was a good spot at a train station for my cousin to pick me up for our weekend away
dream trip: so many. i really want to go back to west canada. i also always kind of regretted not doing more around central asia so that’s something i really want to do. also the baltics. you know what pretty much anywhere i havent been yet is on this list let’s not kid myself.
anything i want right now: a very long holiday.

1. Are you named after anyone?
Nope, my parents just liked the name.
2. When was the last time you cried?
That was three days ago, because I got a little emotional about something.
3. Do you have kids?
I don‘t have kids and I don‘t want kids. I find them kind of annoying and don‘t want to take responsibility. Managing my own life can be hard enough sometimes.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Hmm, sometimes I do. But not a lot I think.
5. What sports do you play / have you played?
Way too many. I tried a lot as a kid. Athletics, swimming, gymnastics, football, volleyball, badminton, dancing. I don‘t do any sports at the moment though.
6. What‘s the first thing you notice about other people?
I don’t know? Probably their face or their appearance in general.
7. Scary movies or happy endings?
Happy endings all the way! I hate scary movies. Saw the last horror movie literally ten years ago.
8. Any special talents?
I can solve a Rubik‘s Cube (the 3x3 and 4x4 version). I am also pretty good with flags and nerdy geography stuff. Let’s also add overthinking to the list. Can‘t think of anything else at the moment.
9. Where were you born?
Let’s not be too specific here and say Germany.
10. What are your hobbies?
Nothing special. I like going for walks to stay fit and get some fresh air. Sometimes I read or listen to music or watch F1. Now and then I hang out with my friends. I have been planning to make a few day trips now that my bachelor thesis is done and I have more free time. But apart from that, I just chill in bed and watch a lot of stuff on Youtube or Twitch or whatever.
11. Do you have any pets?
Currently not. We had a cat when I was little and I definitely want to get a couple of cats when I live on my own and can afford it / have the time to care for them. I am insane about cats. Cats are the best!
12. How tall are you?
I‘m Charles’ height, so pretty tall. May have lied about that at some point, too. Oops.
13. Fave subject in school?
Geography and French my beloveds! These were so much fun.
14. Dream job?
I have no idea. No job would be the ideal job, let‘s be honest.
15. Eye colour?
Unfortunately, it’s brown. Boring and simple.

@hideyseek tagged me in this thirty-four (34) days ago and I am finally going to participate because I have (somewhat) broken my drought of fic writing and actually have wips I’m (somehwat) working on asldfkajsdf
Anyway, send me a number to get a draft excerpt of what I’m working on!
1. Zaundads Zine Fic (Collab with @1deabril)
A fic that I am definitely most certainly actively working on considering it has a deadline :wanders away innocently: but yeah Silco and Vander post-betrayal and angsty stuff and flashbacks to them being young and innocent and trusting each other and stuffffff
2. Winterhawk fic for @lemon-yellow
I mean...I started this, got really into it, then stalled out for a while because Bucky can’t make up his mind what he wants to do next but HEY WHAT ELSE IS NEW
3. Reality TV Dating Show for @flosculatory
An outline exists for this. It will be written someday, I SWEAR. Basically it’s The Ultimatum on Netflix but with our fave Inception characters and it’s going to be AMAZING (you know, once I write it)
4. AELDWS Week 6 write along
I have a really great opening and then Arthur and Eames kept being all mushy when I wanted them to be tough and badass smh
5. AELDWS Week 1 write along
SO MUCH ANGST POTENTIAL. just gotta (i pause and you all say with me) write it
6. Our Flag Means Death AU
What is says on the tin, OFMD but with Inception crew. Cobb is Stede, Saito is gonna be Blackbeard, Eames as Lucius, Arthur as Izzy, etc etc ( @freighttraininmybrain i SWEAR i am going to write this someday
7. Phillipa-centric fic for @mizunoir
Once again I’ve got a great start to this but am not sure where it should go next so it has been languishing in a dusty corner of my laptop waiting for me to decide haha
8. RobEames fic for @lemon-yellow
Lemon fucking incepted me with this idea and it’s so fucking good and I have like, three whole lines written of it but SOMEDAY. SOME. DAY. Y’ALL.
9. Inception/The Old Guard Crossover Fic
I....really should write more of this. I haven’t. Is anyone surprised? Cuz I’m not.

The fic in my nontraditional hanahaki verse that STARTED my nontradtional hanahaki verse even if it doesn’t exist anywhere at ALL yet aka the fic that, if you go back through my various fic tag posts, I’ve been talking about for YEARS at this point and I am going to write it someday dammit

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.
#i often wonder about how many things would be considered classic or high art had they only received the marketing#how many short films that were made for class could have been the most powerful thing you'd ever seen? if you'd seen them?#“you know the greatest films of all time were never made” etc etc#but like. these works of art ARE being made. it's just enjoyed by a smaller audience with equal impact though#i think about this one furry i used to follow on insta who had the coolest worldbuilding ever. it's been years.#thought prompted by that sketch of nimona from ten years ago that was just for a character design#posted to the creator's tumblr and now it's nominated for best animated feature film at the oscars#and by the genuine emotional reaction a fan comic made me feel. how much work had gone into it. how beautiful it was to me.#idk what to tag this but i hope whoever needs to hear it does#writing#writer#fandom#fandom culture#artist
