The war is finally over. Prime is dead, the hive mind is broken, and everyone is reunited with their loved ones. However, there are some questions left unanswered. What will be the fate of Catra and Hordak? What are these new memories Wrong Hordak has? What is Etheria's place in the wider universe? Where do we go now?

Chapter 4: Unmade Decisions

After the celebration died down, The Princess Alliance all sat together in a clearing in the woods. A large bonfire crackled, sending burning embers up into the air. Catra and Melog were next to Adora. Glimmer was sitting between her father and aunt. Perfuma sat with Scorpia and Emily, listening to Frosta describe battles that they were just in. Mermista and Sea Hawk sat off to the side along with Netossa and Spinerella, and Bow, Wrong Hordak, and Swiftwind sat together. The groups talked and laughed with each other as the night stretched on until Scorpia asked a question.

“Where’s Entrapta and Hordak.”

“Wait, Hordak is here!” Frosta shouted.

Adora rose to address everyone.

“Yes, Hordak is among us, but there is no need to worry. First, Hordak was the one responsible for killing the body of Horde Prime, so it is safe to assume he is no longer interested in serving him. Second, when I looked inside his mind, I saw no intention of continuing the war. So, he isn’t exactly a world threat.” Adora’s voice wavered with slight uncertainty, hoping what she says is true.

The group sat wide-eyed at the news, shocked that Hordak, of all people, would be willing to kill the man he had been obsessed with. 

“But what if he tries to take revenge for us beating him!” Frosta shouted.

“We technically didn’t beat him. The Etherian Horde dismantled before anyone could win the war,” Scorpia said, raising a claw.

“Details, details,” Mermista approached the middle, “What matter is what are we going to do with him? We can not just let him go free after all the destruction he has caused. And if he is trying to reconquer the planet, what’s stopping him from manipulating Entrapta into working for him again.” Many individuals nodded their heads in agreement.

Glimmer begrudgingly rose. While she did not want to deal with this right now, at this point there is no stopping it.

“I agree with Mermista, Hordak should get some kind of punishment; however-”

“We could send him to Beast Island.”

“No!” The Beast Friend Squad shouted in unison.

Glimmer pauses to collect herself.

“No, I am not dealing out death sentences, nor do I wish more suffering on Etheria. I have an idea of what we could do, but it is not an issue I wish to discuss right now when we are out in the open. Besides, we should all be resting from today.” As Glimmer looked around the small crowd, she caught her father’s eyes full of pride.

“Ugh, alright. I still don’t trust having Hordak walk around where ever he wants to and possibly run away.” Mermista pointed out. Many of the other Alliance members nodded and murmured in agreement.

“He’s probably glued to Entrapta’s hip right now, so you could just call her,” Catra added.

“Emily, could I have you send a message for Entrapta for me?” Emily beeped an agreement and allowed Scorpia to type a message.

“Ok, can someone tell me what is with those two? Are they, like, dating or really good friends?” Netossa inquired.

“As far as I know, Entrapta has a massive crush on Hordak, but Hordak’s feelings are up for debate,” Scorpia said.

Catra then fully sat up from her previous laying position.

“Oh please, the man was practically drooling every time she came into the room!”

“Was it that obvious?” Netossa asked, still wrapping her head around the concept of Hordak ‘crushing’ on someone.

“Oh yeah definitely. The entire Fright Zone was in on it too, we had betting pools and everything.”

“Betting pools?” Netossa exclaimed.

Mermista rolled her eyes, she was frustrated, to say the least. She is still livid that Hordak destroyed her kingdom. She wanted Hordak to go to Beast Island but it was clear that it was not a popular sentiment. Also while she has a better… understanding of Entrapta she is still frustrated with her disregard for others and found most of her antics annoying; furthermore, she is disgusted that she could love let alone like such an evil entity as Hordak. It was all so frustrating!

“Whatever, has Geek Princess responded yet?”

“No, not yet. I wonder what she is doing?”

“What do they want now?” She groaned after begrudgingly ripping her lips from Hordak’s.

“Hey, Traps!

The other princesses and I were getting worried 

                     about you and Hordak being all on your own so 

                     we all thought you two could come to join us.

                                                                ~ Scorpia”

After reading the message Entrapta looked up at Hordak who averted his eyes.

“You ok to see them.”

“I will have to eventually, might as well get it over with.” Hordak paused, “Entrapta, I have a question.”

“What is it?”

“Should we tell the rest of the Alliance about us?”

“Why wouldn’t we?”

“I fear my association with you might cause harm to your social standing in the Princess Alliance.”

Entrapta turned on her heels to face Hordak.

“Hordak, my social standing with the princesses is already low as it is, and I did not travel halfway across the galaxy just to not be able to be public about our relationship because of how others think of you.” 

Hordak sighed. He was worried that the princess would hate Entrapta for associating with him or worse try to harm her; however, if she wants them to be public, he will allow it.

“And besides, they let Catra in, and she arguably did worse things than you.”

Catra.

That name was a bitter taste on his palate. Hordak loathed Catra, even after all she went through with Prime. She was annoying, rude, and a liar. Hordak might forgive her for what she did to him; however, he will never forgive what she has done to Entrapta. Sending her away to near-certain death without any rational thought; furthermore, keeping him in the dark through it all. Right now, there are only two things he is certain of: he loves Entrapta, and he hates Catra. If it would not get him in even more trouble, he would hunt her down and put her head on a pike, but with all of his actions stacked up against him, it is probably not the best idea to add to his staggering list of wrongdoings.

I really love Melog, like swiftwind was hit or miss for me, kind of because he talked all the time, though I’ll admit that he really got better as the show went on, but I love Catra’s mood cat.  Like because only Catra can hear them, we only get the interpretation of what they said not what they actually say and it works.  The fact that they act as Catra’s mood cat is also sort of adorable and it gives Catra a partner who won’t let her lie to them or herself while still loving her unconditionally.  Catra sort of needs that, Scorpia and Adora loved her almost unconditionally, but they also refused to reign in her negative parts, (not exactly their job, but it’s part of the role of being a friend), but Melog is her bond beast and won’t let her get away with falling back into being a little shit or abandon the ones she loves.  

Also I think it’s a very good way to get around giving Catra magic/making her a princess.  I like the idea of making Catra a princess is something I like because it connects her to the plot, and I think makes for a good what if/au scenario, but I’m glad it wasn’t the route they went.  Also giving her magic, would undercut her character and her struggles through the series, she is always was one of the best fighters in the show, but she doesn’t have magic, she doesn’t even have trick arrows like Bow does, she just has her fighting skills and cunning, which while impressive isn’t the same.  Melog cloaks Catra, which is great, but it’s not a destructive power surprisingly enough, it just enhances the skillset she always had. It also fits her character, even if she didn’t want to admit it, magic is always something princesses and Shadow Weaver had, magic is what took Adora away, magic is what gives those who barely know how to fight the ability to crush her and whatever armies she has on her side, it wouldn’t be crazy to think that Catra has a phobia of magic or at least refuses to use it because of how it’s been used on her.  

Melog becomes an basically an accessory for Catra in the best way possible because if they were a new character they would need development to justify their inclusion, but as Catra’s new source of power, mood cat, and also her conscience, they didnt’ need ot make Melog a character by themselves, but something to help Catra’s development without making her talk to characters she wouldn’t be talking to.  I just love that Catra gets a Jimminy Cricket that can forcibly keep her in line while at the same time giving away how she feels like her tail 

Reacting to SPOP season 5 ep 4 Stranded

Oh man, I forgot that Glimmer angered Bow just as much as she did Adora. It’s not that I LIKE him giving her the cold shoulder, but I am glad from a storytelling standpoint.

Excuse me while I continue to stan Entrapta.

One near-death experience does not forgiveness make. But I like Glimmer’s pledge.

Huh. Was Horde Prime attacking everything magical in the universe?

She-Ra S5 E04 - Stranded

I probably don’t need to say this anymore at this point, but there will be spoilers for the rest of the season in this post.

- “She [Catra] said she was doing it for you.” Oh, the emotions on Adora’s face when Glimmer says this. Seriously, watch her face.

- Small detail when Glimmer first tries to apologize: When Bow pulls away, he says he’s “going to check on Entrapta”. Which makes sense, since something seems to be wrong with the ship, but I wonder if there’s also a silent accusation in those words - Up until this point, Glimmer didn’t know if Entrapta was alive. And whether they should save her from Beast Island or not was the last thing Bow and Glimmer argued about; it’s one of the big things that caused their whole fallout. So I wonder if this was also Bow subtly saying “Oh yeah, Entrapta’s alive by the way - no thanks to you.”

- While Glimmer and Adora’s reconciliation might be a little rushed when you consider how big their fight was, I get that the writers wanted to focus on Glimmer and Bow’s conflict here instead. And I still think their reconciliation and Glimmer’s apology were nicely done. I especially like that Glimmer acknowledges that Adora was “right about everything” and that the show didn’t try to pull some sort of “well, they were both right”.* And after everything that’s happened, I do think it’s in character that Adora would just be glad to have Glimmer back and would forgive her very quickly.

[*Small edit here just to clarify: I’m referring to the end of season 4 and what went down with the Heart of Etheria. In the beginning of s4, I think Adora and Glimmer’s conflict is very well-balanced and they are both right about different things. Also, this isn’t meant to be hate against Glimmer. I like characters who have darker sides and mess up and I think Glimmer’s s4 arc was great and made her infinitely more interesting. So yeah, this isn’t meant to be hate, I just like that the show let Glimmer acknowledge her mistakes and apologize to Adora.]

- In general, I like that the show’s actually addressing Glimmer’s actions and letting someone be angry at her. It’s also an interesting reversal since’s Bow’s not usually the one to hold a grudge - but it makes sense that he’d feel especially hurt since he and Glimmer are so close.

- “I’m great with secrets! Like, one time, Kyle told me he had a crush on Rogel...” THANK YOU NOELLE FOR GIVING THE GAYS EVERYTHING WE WANTED!

- “Darla and I are going to spend some quality time together.” I don’t know how Entrapta is somehow dating a literal ship, but she somehow is. I also love Adora’s weirded out expresion after Entrapta says this.

- “Bow’s usually the friendship stuff guy and I’m usually the “punch your feelings out” guy.” Yeah, basically.

- This exchange:

Adora: “I think I see a light. I’m gonna go towards it!”

Bow: “Don’t go towards the light!”

Adora: “It’s not that kind of light!”

😂😂😂 Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

- I know people love to hate Swiftwind, but his report about what’s been going on on Etheria is absolutely hilarious. My favourite part is definitely: “No. Bad Shadow Weaver. Bad.” “But magic, magic, magic, power, power, power, blah, blah, blah.” 😂

- Also, I think Swiftwind missing Adora and trying to contact her is really sweet.

- I’m pretty sure the reason the writers decided Glimmer can’t teleport in space is because she’d be pretty op and and it’d make things way too easy for the heroes. (It does also make sense that she can’t use her powers while away from her runestone, though.)

- I really like the Star Siblings, but it’s a shame they don’t really show up anymore after this.

- “If you’re smart, you’ll run away.” “Well, I’m not.” Amazing. 😂😂😂

- “He has to pay for what he did, and he... He has someone on his ship. Someone I... We’re stopping him. Period.” 👀 Yeah, Adora? Someone you what exactly? Finish that sentence, please? This was another one of those moments that had me all “omg, it’s actually happening, isn’t it?”

- Adora’s expression when Jewelstar tells her there’s no point in going back for Catra since “no one stands up to Prime and survives” is so heartbreaking.

- “Please, Bow. Just trust me, okay?” Yeah, I’m tearing up. 😢

- “My friends are on the other side. I am not going anywhere! I am not leaving anyone behind!” *cue She-Ra transformation music* And now I’m actually crying. This scene is so beautiful. (side-note: I also love how we didn’t have to wait the whole season to get She-Ra back.)

- I’ve got to say that whole scene of Bow and Glimmer hanging from that cliff and almost falling and the cave almost collapsing is almost too suspenseful for my taste. Even when I rewatch it, I still feel nervous.

- Glimmer’s apology to Bow in the end is a really beautiful scene. What I like the most about it is that it really nicely shows how to properly apologize to someone. Glimmer acknowledges that she made a mistake and that Bow has a right to be mad at her for as long as he wants. She’s not asking him to forgive her, she just tells him that she won’t stop trying to make it better and that she’ll be here when he’s ready. And Bow gets to accept the apology without being pressured into ignoring his feelings or forgiving her right away. A very well-written scene.

- Also, talking Glimbow for a second: I was a blind idiot when it comes to this ship. I saw Catradora coming a mile away (before seeing season 5, I gave it a 70% chance of canonically happening, which turned to 100% after I saw Save The Cat), but it literally took me until Failsafe to realize that Glimbow is a thing. In retrospect, I feel like an idiot for not seeing it sooner. The parallels to Catradora were there all along, in season 1 there was Glimmer’s jealousy over Bow and Perfuma at Princess Prom, and in this episode they got their own “hanging from a cliff” moment and that really beautiful apology scene (and the whole Catradora parallel of having to reconcile after one of them almost destroyed the world). Them being in love makes so much sense, but somehow it completely flew over my head when I first watched the show. I think I was so focused on all the same-sex ships in this show that I just didn’t register anything m/f as a possibility unless it was super obvious. I also tend to generally be a little blind in regards to friends-to-lovers pairings, unless the romantic undertones are very hard to miss - it’s like I mentally sort those pairings into a “just friends” box, and then I proceed to be blind to any romantic hints from there. So yeah, in an ironic “oh how the turntables” way, I actually wasn’t surprised when Catradora happened in the finale, but I was surprised about Glimbow. That said, it wasn’t an unpleasant surprise - it was just a ship I hadn’t considered before. But it’s now been a while since the finale was released and since then Glimbow has become a ship I really like. So when I rewatch an episode like Stranded now, I’m always wondering how the hell I didn’t see the beautiful shipping potential there sooner.

- So Adora watches Glimmer and Bow make up with each other, then sighs and looks at the stars while thinking of Catra. Seriously, how did I not see this?

- The scene where Adora tells Glimmer and Bow she wants to go back for Catra messes me up every time. I love how Adora looks so desperate (probably thinking about what Jewelstar said), admits that it’s dangerous and reckless, probably feels guilty for wanting to save one person and possibly endangering all of them and the rebellion through it - but Glimmer and Bow are so understanding and agree to help right away. Also, I’ll admit when I first watched it, as much as I love Catra, I wasn’t sure if going back for her would be the right thing to do (meanwhile my sister who watched with me said right after Corridors that she’d be disappointed in the BFS if they didn’t go back for her).

- “I can’t just leave her there. I have to try.” Can we talk about how beautiful this is? For the entire show, Catra has always accused Adora of leaving her behind in the Horde and not caring enough about her. And now, when everything already seems to be too late, Adora is willing to walk right into the heart of the way more evil version of the Horde because she doesn’t want to leave Catra behind there. IT’S POETIC CINEMA.

  IT WASN’T SUPPOSED TO GO THIS WAY. Never a natural at doing things the right way ( years spent at the Horde without realization, the crushing self awareness of their actions that should have hit much sooner ), Adora constantly TRIES. Tiring herself out with resolve she refuses to let dwindle, but whatever flame that’s kept guiding her on as She-Ra over time has begun to flicker, and she doesn’t know what to do. The blade meant to shape her identity SHATTERED into pieces, shards slicing through the role she chose to build herself around— one she isn’t even sure she deserves anymore...with Glimmer gone, captured somewhere on Horde Prime’s ship, the way she let everything with Catra fall apart, the state of the Rebellion. The world is falling off her shoulders.  

     Another SLEEPLESS night, light breeze brushes against her cheek as she leans it against her hand, resisting the urge to sigh— everything is in danger, and she’s just sitting here. Attention is grabbed, though, by Swift Wind’s presence, head lifting although her lips remain downturned. She attempts to explain, or make up an excuse, or something, but it all falls flat, and then... she manages a small smile instead. 

   “Thanks, Swift Wind,” Adora responds, with a grateful nod. “It’s just...everything, lately, it’s...been getting to me. And there isn’t much I can do about it without She-Ra, you know?”

My personal character headcanon after Season 3 of She-Ra

Adora: Lesbian/ was dating Catra/ never officially broke up but they’re pretty much not together.

Catra: Bi/ thinks she’s over Adora but obviously isn’t. Not evil; confused abuse victim.

Glimmer: Ace/Pan. Has a crush on Bow.

Bow: Transboy/Bi. Oblivious. Would date Glimmer, but has never thought about it.

Scorpia: Lesbian. This isn’t even headcanon it’s obvious she’s into Catra.

Swiftwind: straight/fabulous/horse.

Entrapta: Pan. Definitely on the spectrum, and that’s not an insult. Adorable.

Perfuma: Straight. No known interests.

Mermista: Bi. On and off with Sea Hawk

Sea Hawk: straight? Bi? Obsessed with Mermista...

Frosta: Too young for me to speculate. Has an innocent crush on Glimmer.

Kyle: Gay. Innocent. Deserves better.

so i’m rewatching season two because i havent since it dropped, and i’m Noticing a few things; 

first, i forgot just how much it involved the other princesses and developed them. which honestly just makes it even more disappointing that they got so lazily sideswept in the last part of season 3. Yes I understand this needed to be ADORA AND CATRA’S moment but.. come on. I guess you could say featuring them in (what was supposed to be) the first half of the 2/3 season makes up for it but.. thats not really how this works. 

Omg i forgot perfuma has a giant crush on mermista 

watching adora not be able to hit simulation catra is.. is painful because you know that would be different now. 

Also lighthope youre full of shit pretending to be dumb and not know how to relate to humans, its just to cover up how much she lies

Its crazy how much more lighthearted this season is than 3 

Glimmer and Catra’s dynamic is so fun i wanna see more Like when Catra is on the rebellion’s side and they have to play nice 

Its interesting how vehemently Adora very much DIDNT want to be Mara (repeat her ‘mistakes’) in the beginning of this season and yet later does what she tells her to..

full disclosure, i fell asleep watching this and i watched the last 2 minutes while at work

After a long time I'm picking up my fanfic writing again. Working on the next chapter of Swiftwind's Adventure and hopefully it will be up before the holiday. Here's a little snippet of new chapter:

Swiftwind shakes his head quickly, the king is seeing this all wrong. "No, that's not true at all." He desperately tries to correct the larger alicorn. "You're wrong, your majesty, the humans are my friends. A girl, Adora, she and I fight together. As partners." Unfortunately, this seems the wrong thing to say to the Unicorn King. It just seemed to push him to his limit. "Enough." The powerful leader demands as his voice raises to be heard above the other horses. "I wont hear any more of it. You're an outsider and obviously one who craves battle and fighting. It's dangerous to have you here." Star comes to her father's side and tries to speak on Swiftwind's behalf, but the king's patience is at an end. It's enough for him that one of his kind has willingly let themselves be harnessed and used for their flight and magical ability in the wars of humans. He refuses to listen to his daughter and steps threatening close to Swiftwind. "I want you off this island, you are not welcome here. The connection you have to the humans of the mainland will only bring danger here. I don't know where you came from, if not here, but I won't have my people under threat."
