SUPER VOCAL

The best singing competition show. Ever.

I am impressed at the amount of talent in this show. 36 participants and all of them talented as hell. The only reason not everyone is a Principal at the end is merely because of confidence at the time of performing. Which is the only reason Zhou Shen, who has the voice of an angel, was a bit lackluster (it must have been the beginning of his career.. he was nervous most of the times, thank God for sweet Wang Xi who was always rooting for him 🥰).

The lead "actor" of this show is, no doubt, Ayunga. He performed flawlessly every song. The judges and the rest of the boys loved and admired him. Didn't matter if his French wasn't good, his harmonization compensated everything. The 2nd lead, but more or less in the 2nd half, was Zhen Yunglong. I love to see them interacting, the chemistry! And when they formed their group... ahhh, the mentors and their students 🥰 Both of them with the experience and confidence, guiding the youngsters, the "1975" team 🥰

And both enjoy performing so much! It is so much fun to see the singing together. And while not singing, they both enjoy watching the others, and how cute was them worrying for their children? (They deserved to win, tbh, but still, I loved that the professor invited the children to perform with him in his concert... isn't that the best??)

So yes, it is a joy to see the charm of YunCiFang 🥰

There is also a bit of a fight over Zhou Shen... Yuncifang wanted him but Wang Xi was adamant to have him 🤣 so it provided some fun moments:

Besides them, I became a huge fan of Wang Xi (that silky voice 🤤), Yu Di (always consistent in his performances... I love that he got a couple of jobs while the judges were scoring him 😄), Liao Jialin (I prefer his countertenor over Gao Tianhe), Wang Kai (a pro... he was just too competitive 😅), Li Qi, Cai Cai, Hong Zhiguang and Ma Jia and well, all of them actually. All of them very sweet, sensitive boys. The only one I didn't care, in spite of his huge talent, was Gao Tianhe 😅 such a diva.

My favorite performances:

- Bella Ciao

- L'amore si muove

- Les Rois du Monde

- The Sound of Silence

- Nei Blu, Dipinto Di Blu

- La Paloma

- I'll cover you (+ all the other duets btw Ayunga & ZYL. They improved so much since that infamous performance from their college days)

Now I am in the rabbit hole that is Super Vocal 🥲 I am happy this show open doors for them, and that musicals and opera are more popular now in China. These guys deserve every ovation they are surely getting today. I wish I could know more about their current professional lives and how did their tour went after the final. The ending had many tears, including from Yuncifang, and I admit I also shed some tears 🥺

TOP 10 CELEBRITIES & REAL PEOPLE FANDOMS ON AO3 BASED ON NUMBER OF FANWORKS (2009-2022)

To make these bar chart race, all series titles in the Celebrities & Real People Category on November 29 (or the closest date to it) of every year were copy-pasted from Wayback Machine to Google Sheets, rearranged according to number of fanworks, and then inputted to Flourish to turn into a bar chart race.

Locked fanworks aren't included in the count because Wayback Machine can’t view those, only Ao3 users can.

In 2009-2012, American Idol RPF was only in the Music & Bands category. By 2013, it was categorized to Celebrities & Real People and TV Shows instead. Since its 2009-2012 were high enough to rank in the top 10 in this category, I've decided to show it here in the bar chart.

After American Idol RPF changed categories, it seems to have lost half its fanworks. There aren't much archives of the American Idol RPF page, but I believe it was because the tags of singers who participated in this show were removed from its subtags.

Japanese Actor RPF was reduced to 9.66% of its total fanworks by 2015 because Johnny's Entertainment was removed from its subtags.

British Actor RPF was reduced to around 70% of its total fanworks by 2017 because RPF of various media was removed from its subtags.

Music RPF was not in the Celebrities & Real People category in 2015-2018.

Minecraft (Video Game) was in the top 10 in 2021-2022. However, it has been removed from the Celebrities & Real People category by the time this post was made, so I'm excluding it from the bar chart.

Fandom tags that are no longer in the Celebrities & Real People category tag as of posting this are left out of the bar chart race. These tags are usually either miscategorized or already have other tags referring to the same fandom.

For tags that existed on the same years before eventually merging into one tag later on (such as CW Network RPF which later on merged with Actor RPF, and Internet Personalities which later on merged with Video Blogging RPF), I use the data of whichever tag has the highest number for that year.

Quality moments from eps 3 and 4 of the first season of 声入人心:

Shi Kai: heyyyy mannnnn *immediately goes in for hug* I did not appreciate this cutie enough on my first watch-through

Jia Fan seeking out Lu Yupeng for the duet despite being in high demand himself (precious!) Their duet was lovely! And then him speaking up for Lu Yupeng afterwards, it was so sweet (not a dry eye in the room - and then everyone being thrilled for them when they were selected to go through!)

Several duos making up little dances to Happy Heart, making their performances absolutely chaotic and forgetting lyrics left, right and centre (but everyone's having a good time!)

(and then the final performance the next episode, after some rehearsal, is so very slick <3)

In general, it's a lot of fun and far more illuminating to see the guys doing extremely unpolished performances on two hours of rehearsal - it really illustrates the different levels of skill involved, but it's also just kinda funny to see professional singers suck a bit (it’s expected! so much practice is needed to make a song sound good, especially if you’re singing with others!)

Cai Chengyu and Ayanga's performance in ep4 *o* but also then Ding Hui and Jin Shengquan simultaneously complimenting the performance and roasting Gao Tianhe for being Dramatic

Zhou Shen being a fucking ray of sunshine - it's kinda sweet to see him again in his 声入人心 era knowing the absolute gremlin he becomes in time for 我们的歌

Wang Xi being so meeeeaaaaan to Ga-zi when he picks him as a duet partner

I dont remember what I was watching specifically but I remember seeing this clip and the screen being COMPLETELY FILLED with the same, one comment which was: “strategic eye-closing” and that was funny as hell

with the news of sleep token signing with rca (its huge, super proud of the guys- really hoping rca doesn’t fuck them over)

i just want to say: free palestine. rca supports israel which is hella unfortunate. but i also want to say don’t conflate the label’s morals with the band. there are plenty of bands signed by rca that support palestine- bring me the horizon is a very notable example!
