It's a known fact the world is dangerous, filled with monsters who wish you dead in some way shape or form, wheather those monster be truely as their namesake or human like you.
But you swore to help the innocent, it's what Alucard loved most about you.
You were selfless, compassionate, witty and able to banter with him easily.
But he loves those late nights with you at his side, laughing about something stupid, or just whispering your love for one another. He never thought he'd allow himself to love, he's a monster just like his father, and he can't help but carry that insecurity with him after everything he's done.
Yet your touch and words never fail to break through the walls he carefully built for centuries.
He fights tirelessly to protect you and fight off the creatures of the night, nothing ever phasing him or making his stoic expression break in these moments. You are his first priority, your safety is all he cares about and keeps him going in his most heated battles.
Even so you fight right along side him with ease, both of you working in tandum as if you have all your lives. You always are there to help comfort him, mainly after that battle with that succubus who cruelly took the form of his mother in her last moments.
It's a topic you don't bring up, never wanting to pasture him about it, but you happily listen to him as he tells you stories of her. He just knows his mother would've loved you, he can almost imagine bringing you home and his mom adopting you as her own.
Maybe in another world he'd get that bliss.
Maybe in another world he's family was still together and he could've introduced you to them.
That's not this world or this life though.
He knows deep down had it not been for his mother's last words he would've joined his father in the destruction of humanity.
But you keep those thoughts from forming.
As had he done so, he would've never met you, his sweet darling.
Maybe that's why the large bonfire was making his head swim.
laughater from the newly saved town had been drowned out.
As the blaze grew fire so did his heart rate. Everything feels too hot, why can't he breathe? Screams ring in his ears, screams he can never get rid of.
You look to your lover, ready to ask if he wanted a drink until you saw hos still he was.
"Alucard?" You ask, your voice low as to not draw any attention.
His chest was barely moving, merely taking short quick breaths. His eyes are wide, filling with tears that reflect that amber glow from the fire. You act fast, instantly at his side and tentivly touching his back to rub slow circles.
"Adrian, Adrian look at me. Shhh it's okay. Sweetheart I need you to look at me."
You aren't sure how long you stood there calling for him before he gasps, taking a large gulp of air, panting as he blinks rapidly, his golden eyes snapping towards you with tears screaming down his face.
"Shh shh it's okay. Come on." You move your hand to his lower back and gently guide him away from the towns bonfire.
Their cheering grows quieter the further you two move away, before finding a private place for him to sit. When he sits on a bench he's grabbing your hands, keeping you in front of him as he sobs into your stomach.
You quickly wrap your arms around his shoulders, gently shushing him and telling him to let it all out. You run your fingers through his hair, tenderly scratching his scalp to comfort him.
"I'm- I'm sorry-!"
"You have nothing to apologize for, you've done nothing wrong."
You've never seen him cry, Alucard is always sure to keep himself in check,but you're not about to let him feel bad for this. He only cries harder at your words, his arms coiling around your waist, tight like a snake.
He can't let you go, he can't lose you too!
He fears if he lets go you'll disappear, consumed by the very blaze that took his mother.
You already have an idea on what happened,and you're not about to blame him for it as it's such a raw memory for him.
You'll stay with him as long as he needs, letting him sob into your shirt until he tires himself out.

Shanoa’s Real Identity and Richter’s Fate
Could Each Lingering Mystery Answer The Other?
Okay this is completely crazy but the more I stare at it, the more sense it makes, and as much as this is highly unlikely, I just have to share it with other fans!
Please bear with my Pepe Silvia-esque ramblings.
Can we talk about Order of Ecclesia, Mac? I’ve been dying to talk about Ecclesia.
So there’s two burning questions that have been bothering me for a long time.
What happened to Richter Belmont?
Who is Shanoa, really?
And the other day I had a revelation that might be able to answer both. However, it’s completely crazy and I was scared to share it in case people hated it. But I just have to talk about it with someone, so here goes, I guess.
Let’s start with question 1.
What happened to Richter?
Missing: Have you seen this man? Responds to “miserable little pile of secrets”.
According to canon, Richter disappeared shortly after SOTN, taking the Belmont bloodline with him. Vampire Killer was instead passed on to the Morris family and another Belmont would not be seen again until Julius Belmont in the 1990s.
Fans have long speculated the reasons why Richter and the Belmont line would simply disappear. There are two prominent fan explanations:
A. He was too ashamed after being possessed and gave up on vampire hunting as penance.
B. He was too afraid for his loved ones after being possessed and nearly losing Annette and decided to retire his family from the job.
He already told her twice! You turn into a vampire, you get the pyre. Turn into a succubus, you get thrown under the bus.
Trouble is, neither is particularly convincing, is it? Belmonts have been dealing with this sort of thing for generations and it hasn’t slowed them down before. Richter is one of the most powerful of all the Belmonts, as well as one of the most confident. It seems unlikely he would be discouraged by standard occupational hazards in the family business.
But what if there was a far more concrete explanation? One that Iga simply never got to elaborate on because his last game was Order of Ecclesia.
Which brings us to…
Who is Shanoa?
Shanoa has amnesia. It’s a significant plot point that she doesn’t know who she really is or where she came from. The true ending implies she gets her memories back, but it’s never revealed to the audience.
She looks awfully happy to have her memories back! Surely Konami will show the audience after we worked so hard to get them for her. Right? Riiiiight? Not like they have something to hide for a sequel they’ll never make!
So what can we determine? Let’s look at what we know.
Shanoa was created to fight Dracula and vampires because the Belmonts disappeared (allegedly. In reality she was being used to revive Dracula).
Shanoa has an adoptive brother named Albus who was supposedly experimenting with Belmont blood taken from distant descendants in Wygol village.
Shanoa works for an older man named Barlowe (who is later revealed to actually be trying to revive Dracula and was planning to sacrifice Shanoa).
Her game takes place sometime in the early 1800s.
Her English voice is Michelle Ruff.
So what can we glean from all this?
Here is my insane crack theory.
Shanoa is Maria Renard
I know, I know, it’s crazy. Hear me out!
How it All Connects
Oh sure. Alucard becomes “Genya Arikado” and no one bats an eye. Maria becomes Shanoa and everyone loses their minds!
It first started with the simple curiosity that Michelle Ruff voiced both Maria and Shanoa in English. Now this isn’t evidence of anything because voice actors play multiple roles all the time. But it did get me thinking.
The Order of Ecclesia was only created because Richter Belmont disappeared. So where did he go? And where did Barlowe come from?
Here’s my speculation: Barlowe either is a successor to, or actually is a new identity for, Shaft himself! I’m going with “successor” since Shaft had all those creepy cultist priests that served him.
“Always two, there are; A master and an apprentice!”
Look at the similarities:
—Wants to revive Dracula through a dark ritual.
—Plans to sacrifice a girl to do it by unlocking her magical potential.
—Has the exact same attacks as Shaft: Fire orbs, ricochet orbs, lightning orbs, that bouncy ball attack, etc.
And who did Shaft want to sacrifice this way last time he got up to these shenanigans? Maria Renard.
Last time this unlocked her magical potential. It’s no surprise that Shanoa is similarly enhanced. What’s interesting though is that Shanoa is a uniquely qualified candidate, as Barlowe believes that Albus isn’t as suited for the role as Shanoa despite Albus volunteering to take her place. What’s so special about Shanoa anyway?
Could it be because she’s already had part of the ritual performed on her before?
Her name is also interesting. Shanoa is a corruption of the French “Chat Noire” meaning “black cat”. Maria is associated with animals already and her last name is French for “Fox”. Maria is also canonically considered a witch. What do some witches turn into in SOTN when they’re low on health? Black cats.
The Salome Witch’s sprites in SOTN. They turn into cute black kitties when you fight back. Dastardly!
Could it be that Barlowe kidnapped Maria Renard with the intent to finish the job Shaft started? Is this the real purpose behind wiping her memories, and the stated cause of her amnesia merely an excuse?
But let’s put a pin in Shanoa for a moment and look at another suspicious character: Albus.
Albus is the Key
Shanoa about to steal Albus’ sweet vest because that open back dress looks COLD to be standing on misty magical castle steps in the middle of the night.
Maria about to put flowers on Richter’s grave if he keeps flexing on Dracula.
Albus is Shanoa’s adoptive brother.
Not her biological brother.
Not her best friend.
He is specifically her adoptive brother. Why? There’s no mention of either of their families. Why this specific categorization?
Albus cares very deeply for Shanoa. Despite being wrongfully demonized and having Shanoa sent after him, Albus to the end self sacrifices in an attempt to save her. Why does he care about her so much?
Unless of course, we have it backwards. He doesn’t call her his adoptive sister because he wants to save her. He wants to save her because she’s his adoptive sister.
Who has an adoptive brother (or brother-in-law in one weird translation) relationship with Maria?
Richter Belmont.
What is it with you people thinking hair dye makes you unrecognizable?
How does Albus so easily find descendants with Belmont blood when no one can even find Richter?
It’s easy if you are a Belmont and know your family history. (Simon probably left a lot of bastards in Wygol. Gigachad that he was.)
Closer inspection reveals Albus has those Richter Belmont stunning-blue eyes!
Why does having all the villagers saved allow Albus to sacrifice himself to save Shanoa? It’s as if the Belmont blood of the villagers resonated with him at the end. But why would it? Unless he is a Belmont himself.
Could Albus be Richter going undercover to find out what happened to Maria? Only to discover the situation was too dire to easily leave until he stopped Barlowe’s plans? Is this why Albus offers to take Shanoa’s place in the ritual? Was it planned sabotage? And did Barlowe send Albus on a wild goose chase because he was catching on?
Seriously, even their “evil” looks share a resemblance. Too much smudgy eye-liner, for one.
So why did Richter Belmont disappear?
Because Albus died to save Shanoa.
Presumably, he left Annette behind with child and this is the line Julius is descended from. Annette simply went into hiding after Richter didn’t return.
Order of Ecclesia takes place in the early 1800s so it’s well within their lifespans.
If true, I wonder if Maria/Shanoa returned to Alucard after. Perhaps her altered hair inspired Alucard to change his own color to black as well for his Genya alias.
It’s not just a phase, and no you can’t sit with us!

Beevy c'mon don't be a hypocrite!
After all: even Ayami Kojima brought the horny, they said so themselves, so you can't be mad :P
Kojima may love her long-haired bishounen, but she still put much more thought and care in the character designs than "LOOK AT DEM TIDDIES!!!!!!!". Her Alucard is the epitome of elegance for a reason, but I could say the same about Juste, Leon, Hector - they're all gorgeous, but not in that "c'mon, thirst for them, you horny little girl :)" way, hell the former two have a certain angelic beauty about them that N!Alucard fucking wishes he had.
Hector is not as angelic, but he carries an aura of badassery with him that complements his fine features:
Oh, but you speak of horny? Even the damn Succubus in SoTN is not as in your face as Carmilla or Drolta.
The Succubus! With her actual breasts and crotch out! She's still not as shallowly sexy as those two!
Motherfucking Isaac has a better design than 90% of the NFCV cast. He is meant to be overly sexual, but he's so over the top about it that he loops back into being ridiculous, even creepy in certain art. And yet he's still appealing in a way, because his design is made of interesting parts that convey the kind of character that he is.
What the fuck am I supposed to get from N!Orlox? That he wants to fuck? What am I supposed to get from N!Alucard in S4? That he's proud of his tids and abs and oh so swoon-worthy scar?

Things I hope to see in future Seasons of "Castlevania Nocturne" in no particular order:
(SPOILERS AHEAD!)
- Richter learning more spells.
- Juste flashback or any excuse for him to wear his old outfit.
- Juste throwing a SHITLOAD OF KNIVES!
- Acknowledgment of Juste stealing Dracula's furniture.
- Maria crushing HARD on Alucard.
- Alucard learning to smile again thanks to Maria and Richter.
- The Phantoms of Trevor, Sypha and Grant Greta showing up as a boss fight for Alucard like in SotN and all the old cast reprising their roles.
- Dracula. OBVIOUSLY. Hopefully Graham McTavish comes back!
- "Die Monster!" The whole thing. Please. I'm BEGGING!
- Maria's green ninja outfit (probably made using Eduard's old clothes?) and "Rock Daddy" Richter.
- Quincy Morris and how he and Richter become friends.
- Juste and Richter tag-teaming somebody.
- Alucard maybe learning about Summons from Maria, and thus getting his Fairy companion from SotN.
- More game music! That "Divine Bloodlines" Remix was EVERYTHING!!!
- Somebody singing "I Am The Wind" from SotN, wether it's Edouard or Maria or Anette or whoever. I NEED IT.
- Alucard quoting the Bible before a kill.
- Alucard vs Olrox.
- EXPONENTIALLY MORE Himbo Richter.
- Alucard's Vision where he kills another succubus. (Tera??)
- Richter getting the Vampire Killer, hopefully. If not, the Morningstar is fine too.
- Post Timeskip Maria and Alucard.
- "Al Lecarde" and the Lecarde family. Eric MIGHT be too much to hope for...
And finally,
- ANY Mention of the other protagonists. Maybe something about Simon, or maybe something about Shanoa or the boys from Circle of the Moon or the Morris Clan from the time Richter dissapeared.
- Richter giving up the whip to the Morris Clan and leaving to live his life happily ever after.
Needless to say, this Show has me HOOKED!

I can't think anyone but a handful of my mutuals will care about my opinions regarding this, but here's my thoughts on the "Castlevania: Nocturne" trailer:
Looks like we ain't getting a "Castlevania: Bloodlines" adaptation, huh? 😅
I still don't know why this team didn't have a Simon Belmont run. Dude's super recognizable and about as free as it gets for canon shenanigans. I don't think many people would argue against Simon having an ultra-violent, exploitatively gory adventure…Especially not after that whole "picking up Dracula's body parts, reanimating him, and beating the shit out of him again" situation.
I can see the appeal of writing a French Revolution "Castlevania" story, but it's a little off, too? Like, the only roughly French person was Maria, and even that's a tangential stretch based on her last name (which I think came from some university one of the game developers was associated with, if I remember correctly.) I suppose what I've gotta point out is that the intro to "Rondo of Blood" is very, very much in German, which is super unique for the series. If this story was happening outside of Romania, I'd have to peg it to Germany for that reason.
I'd almost be certain that we're going to see Marie Antoinette die in an exploitatively gruesome fashion, but I wonder if Konami would put a stop to that. Not that they care much outside of getting cash money for licensing, of course. It's just that most Japanese media tends to have a more sympathetic view of her, so I wonder if that would filter over even to an American adaptation of a Japanese video game series.
Then again, they let S3E9-10 happen, so…
Interesting spin on Orlox. There's definitely potential to play with there! Dude's almost free in terms of canon, unless you want to get into Japanese light novels post "Dawn of Sorrow." But that's way, way, way, way in the future…
Don't know why he wouldn't just kill Richter as a kid, though. Unless we're setting up some kind of "Berserk" style misery gambit.
Honestly, I almost thought Isaac would show up 300 years later with schemes to get Dracula back. A different flavor of Shaft, if you will. Although damn, does that not sound right.
Actually, what the hell kind of happy ending fuckery are they going to do with what happened at the end of S4? That was surprisingly rainbows out the ass for this series. Like…When did Lisa die again? How does Dracula react to that? How fucked up did the CV3 hero set end up afterwards? Something had to put Alucard back under, right? I doubt these people would let SOTN slip by, and that definitely starts with him waking up from an extra-long nap…
There's going to be such hell-on-earth pandemonium if this interpretation of Annette also ends up as a succubus/vampire lady. Like, that's not worse than what "Berserk"'s Casca went through, but it's a disturbing enough thought...
I don't know why I keep thinking of "Berserk" for a series comparison….
Also—say! That's an interesting idea, having a character from the Caribbean. You know what else is famously associated with that location? Pirates! I wonder if maybe they could have had, I don't know, some kind of knife-throwing, acrobatic pirate thief in the last series…But that would have just been silly, right? 😑
Anyone got a bead on Doctor Iris, or did Richter forget to save her?
Also, is it me, or does this Tera interpretation look more like Yoko Belnades than the character she's actually based on?
Haven't had a Netflix subscription in years. Probably will get around to seeing this at some point, but I'd like to have a buffer first. Maybe listen for the screamings of other damned souls before sticking my head into the hell portal.
Honestly, I probably would get back to that "Lupin" series first...

Hot take: If the unused spider boss, light boss, and the lost Devil phase were allowed to come back for the DLC, I think they should have brought the vampire boss back! ;-;
I decided to swap the boss’s gender because I thought a lady bat would be neat. I mean hey, they turned the light boss into a cute light bug girl- so why not?

Agratha, better known as Batty Agratty (named after a succubus), is a demon that runs an underground club for the nightlife. Since the DLC pretty much confirms that the games take place during the Prohibition Era, the Pansy Craze is in full effect too.
Essentially, Agratha runs a private safe space for LGBT+ individuals. During the daytime, she runs a mere hotel, at night, a cabaret opens. Drinks are also available. Don’t worry, she isn’t a dangerous blood sucker either! She would never prey on anyone. (she does however, consume ink)
Her companions, Viol and the peacock spider, are pansy performers for song and dance respectively. I don’t have any names for them currently, Viol is a placeholder. ;;
While Agratha’s design is primarily based on the Count from 60′s Looney Tunes, her attacks are based on Dracula from SotN and Morrigan from Darkstalkers. The plant meanwhile, is based directly off of the one from Monster Party!
The third phase transformation is based on the vampire boss’s unused wolf-centered phase that they were meant to have. Naturally, I modeled this after the Big Bad Wolf from Silly Symphonies!
The fight takes place in a hotel cabaret, with a bit of a gothic nature to it!

I had a premonition that the new Castlevania series is going to go with Annette getting turned into a vampire like in the bad ending of DXC, and that she’ll play a part in Richter becoming Lord of Castlevania and/or take the place of the succubus that Alucard fights in SotN
And I’m conflicted because if it does happen then obviously it doesn’t follow canon, and I really want Annette and Richter to get their happy ending…. But on the other hand I also have a crippling weakness for sexy vampire ladies and corruption arcs and the image of vampire!Annette tempting Richter into giving in to his inner darkness so they can rule the night together all Lady Macbeth style is really hot to me

I will always feel sense of amusement when something is trying super hard to be dark and gritty, only to unintentionally give the villain/s a really goofy looking character design. Kind of hard for me to feel intimidating by your villains, when Drolta is wearing those stupid horsey hoof heals and has Pepto Bismol hair in her succubus form, and Erzsebet looks like she belongs in a children's fairytale book. If they're going to make their characters not only look goofy, but stick out like a broken thumb in a setting that's supposed to take place during the French Revolution, they might as well go full ham with the silly shit that the N64 game/s did, and add in motorcycle riding skeletons with machine guns and Frankenstein's monster with a chainsaw. But that would make things more entertaining, and Netflix Castlevania can't allow fun because it's so serious and grown up.
You nailed it. NFCV and Nocturne have this pretentious air about it, like they want to be serious and gritty and dark and gory and about real life topics (esp Nocturne with its slavery theme). But while NFCV commits to the point that everything is as straight-laced as it could be (except when it comes to piss jokes, the height of humor), Nocturne is just goofy, but still in an unintentional way.
Again, may I just.
The games have their goofy side, but it comes from an affectionate place, if that makes sense. SoTN is a game about the weight of one's family legacy, and at the same time you can make Alucard toss a peanut in the air to catch it in his mouth. CoD is a game about the cycle of revenge and the downward spiral you can fall in, and at the same time Hector can sit on a toilet at the bottom of a lake and Isaac has the best character design of all time. PoR is generally a silly game, and even then it has themes of broken families, Jonathan grieving his father and Brauner grieving his daughters... all while you defeat Memory Richter by throwing dark pies on his face.
The tonal dissonance is intended, and calibrated to not be jarring. It's fun. CV is a fun, campy series at its core, even during its 2000s shonen era! That's why the shows fail: they think that campiness is just childish silliness to be fixed for a "mature" audience.
