Good morning, pls enjoy this jersey tiger moth and all its fancy wings. May we always have moths like this in the world 🦋💖
This species feeds on many common herbaceous plants that some ppl call weeds. That includes brambles, plantains, and nettles (which feed so many different moths/butterflies/beetles/etc etc. Always worth keeping some nettles!)
Bugs; perpetually the best reason not to overdo it with the weeding.
@understones submitted: we found this caterpillar in western virginia - I would love to know what this becomes! could you identify it?
It's a noctuid moth caterpillar and I think probably in the genus Spodoptera - so maybe a yellow-striped armyworm moth or a fall armyworm moth, which are both common in your area. There's a wide variety of markings between individuals on the caterpillars so it can be difficult to be sure!
updated my mothwing design! it’s almost the same as it was before (here’s the old one) i just tweaked the colors to make them a little easier on the eyes and changed few of the markings slightly. mostly i just wanted to redraw her!
