I'm a massive MM fan, and I'm curious what the Demon Tribes AU is about, like the sparknotes version, because from what I've seen on this blog it looks rad as hell

The AU itself is a combination of Majora's Mask and Skyward Sword lore. It presents the idea that the ancient, war-prone Ikanan Kingdom is one in the same with the Demon Tribes of Skyward Sword's prologue which caused the Ancient War. The resulting world is an ancient version of Termina, back when the continent was ruled entirely by Ikana.

As for the story aspect underneath the AU's umbrella, that is called The Mask-Maker and will include subsequent future works. TMM is about Link struggling with his identity as a hero two years after the events of Skyward Sword. There, he suffers from recurring, seemingly-prophetic nightmares about his death at the hands of a demon from Ikana. During unrelated events, he eventually finds his way to the kingdom while in the company of Ghirahim, who turns out to also have ties to the region. Link's adventure in Ikana is to confront the demon which haunts him, but he ends up finding out way more about the history of the Ancient War, what demons are actually like, and what his role in all of this is. This story also includes eventual exploration of prior characters from both SkSw and MM such as Batreaux, Zelda, Groose, Majora, and the Fierce Deity. There are also many OCs involved in order to flesh out the world further.

Please note that there is a ship involved in the story - the ship is Ghirahim/Link with the two now being aged 22/20 respectively. The bulk of the story is focused on the adventure and worldbuilding within Ikana, and the romance content is secondary. It is not an explicit work but is rated M due to occasionally suggestive content. I say this so that you can make an informed decision on whether you want to engage with work that involves a ship.

Hello everyone and Happy Friday! With the first poll closed, I thought I would post a lil synopsis of what the first story will be about! :D

For our first short story, Knight!Donnie and his twin brother Leo are helping escort Princess April through a dangerous mountain pass back to her kingdom when their convoy is attacked! Through a series of mishaps and magical shenanigans, Donnie and April end up getting separated from the others, and it's up to Donnie to protect the princess (and in some cases, April will need protect Donnie) as they make their way back to April's kingdom.

Writing a Strong Premise That Checks All the Boxes

To begin, a strong story premise sets the foundation for an engaging narrative. It can be anywhere between a single sentence to a short paragraph -- I, myself, tend to write both ways and think slightly-longer premises are just fine. It depends on how to-the-point you want your premise to be for a quick summary, or if a longer one offers more context to have it make more sense. The goal is to communicate the heart of your story efficiently in simple terms without overwhelming the reader.

First, here's some examples of strong premises:

"A smart young girl, raised by uncaring parents, discovers she has magical powers which she uses to teach her tyrannical headmistress a lesson." - (Matilda, by Roald Dahl)

"A rehearsal is in progress when the actors are suddenly interrupted by six mysterious people, who demand to be put in a play. They are the characters of a story yet to be written." - (Six Characters in Search of An Author, by Luigi Pirandello)

"When world-renowned Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a mysterious symbol—seared into the chest of a murdered physicist—he discovers evidence of the unimaginable: the resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati…the most powerful underground organization ever to walk the earth." - (Angels and Demons, by Dan Brown)

Not only is your story condensed to one sentence (or two, or three...), but it should, at the very least, be understandable enough to the potential reader, not only providing a short summary that hits the boxes we will discuss here, but also asking a main question that arises from the premise (such as: will the main character succeed in their plans, or will they fail in the longrun?). The idea of the main question is a whole new can of worms that makes me want to write a new post in of itself, so for now, let’s just get into the elements of a good premise.

Here are some points to ensure your premise is strong enough and compelling:

1. The Protagonist: Introduce the main character(s) and their primary goal or desire. Draw attention to what makes them more important and stand out from others. Keep in mind as you write: Why is this their story to tell… what makes them the prime candidate worth experiencing this story? 

2. The Antagonist / Opposition: You don’t necessarily have to dive into the villain and their motivations in your premise, if you have one, but you should mention the forces, people or not, that stand in the way of the protagonist. This opposition often drives conflict and tension.

2. External Conflict: Branching off from the last step, a strong premise often includes inherent conflict and high stakes. Identify what's at stake for your protagonist, what they want, and what obstacles they face in achieving their goals. What does the protagonist have to gain or lose? 

3. Internal Conflict: On the flip side of the prior step, also be sure consider the internal struggles or dilemmas the protagonist may face. This could be emotional, moral, or psychological challenges that add depth to their journeys. You could hint at potential character growth or change. 

4. Exploration of Themes: A good premise hints at the themes your story will explore. Think about the underlying messages or ideas your premise conveys. Also think about the emotional impact of your premise: does it evoke curiosity, excitement, fear, or empathy?

Remember that a strong premise isn't just about a catchy or original idea, but also about how well it sets the stage for the narrative to unfold. It should capture your audience's imagination and make them eager to read your story. 

Feedback can be a useful tool to determine whether or not your story’s premise is strong enough. Don’t be afraid to share your premise with others: get different perspectives to understand how your premise resonates with different readers, see if their expectations align with your own or challenge you to think outside of the box. Refine your premise through multiple iterations — expand through various plot points or characters for different outcomes. Open your mind to new possibilities until there’s one that really sticks with you. 

Also remember that your premise doesn’t have to contain every element or plot device of your story — that will be apparent in the finished product. For now, take the points that are most important, especially the ones that make you most excited to share this story in the first place.

Donnie is trying to get Leo, who he thinks is captured with him by the villain, and escape, while Leo and the others are trying to heal, find Donnie and rescue him, and also (BLANK FOR SPOILER PURPOSES)

All the neighbors we're alive in the 1950 - 1960's, they were on a radio station that was basically an improve/comedy station,

Wally was an self obsessed, creepy artist as a persona

Howdy was an con artist store keeper who often promoted his products out of nowhere as a persona

Barnaby was a struggling comedy with poor humor that no one got or found offensive.

Julie was well, Julie- (She was an almost crazy over energetic persona)

Sally was an dramatic, yet elegant, yet chaotic actor as a persona

Poppy was the only sane one, often panicking and bringing baked treats and telling everyone recipes that wasn't very appealing as a persona

Eddie was a clumsy, forgetful southern mail man who often forget packages and of course, scared shitless of critters as a persona

Frank was a know it all, nerdy, annoying zookeeper as a persona.

The comedy group rose to decent fame and popularity!

Unfortunately,

They all mysteriously disappeared one day, never to be seen again, presumed dead.

Though, one day, A new children show popped up, "Welcome home" their spirits were drawn to it and had taken on the personalities of there one infamous, comedy show.

By day, everything is normal, the show goes on as normal but after the screen cuts the world goes wonky, the world is twisted and morphed, and they start to get flashbacks, of someone, all different people.

Those fellow puppets are starting to feel familiar..

This question was really hard because it forced me to actually sit down and write an intelligible blurb for my Festival Project WIP. I've been procrastinating on doing it for so long so I was grateful for this challenge.

So without further ado...

Hollow Grove is a town of secrets.

 Beneath its humble Midwestern veneer lies an arcane world teeming with magic, ghosts, vampires, werewolves, and other things that go bump in the night. But that’s nothing new. The mortals among them have learned to live with the uncanny of everyday life.

But even this belies a darker underbelly.

Mariela Hudson is the freshest face of The Hollow Times reporting team, the main source of the town’s local news. It’s New Year’s Eve, hours before the first biggest story of 2017: The Festival of Shadows. The whole town shuts down for the week in anticipation of the rise of the restless dead and the supernatural frenzy that accompanies the rise of the halo moon. Acolytes of the major Edelhaus Church celebrate it as a sign of the Founder’s power and God’s favor. The mortals cower in their homes, fearful of the thrall.

Anxieties are especially high this time around. This holiday marks the five-year anniversary of the Grimwell Park Murders: a suspected ritual suicide event performed by a fringe cult towards mysterious ends. Two bodies are the only proof of the deed. The rest was burned away in the fire to cover up the crime.  

Mariela is determined to investigate the events that led up to the murders to uncover the secrets of the Edelhaus Church and her own family’s troubled history.

All the while, a monster waits.

AskProfTuro; Story Thus Far

-While stumbling across the Poco Path Lighthouse, you stumble across a sign saying ‘Welcome, feel free to pop in and rest’ -Inside is a strikingly familiar face; Professor Turo Arce is sitting at the kitchen table with a fresh cup of coffee and is asking if you’d like to join him for a cup. -Turo was informed of the multiverse, and quite honestly was baffled at the suggestion of it. Answering it with ‘What?’ -It appears Turo isn’t too aware of when others try to flirt with him? -We learn that the Professor can not cook for the life of him. Turns out he likes either takeout or snacks like candy or granola bars -Turo meets a younger version of himself, from another universe, and mentions he almost lost his paradise in the pursuit of finishing the time machine to create what he thought would achieve Paradise in the first place. -Miraidon makes its first appearance, and it’s revealed that Turo can talk to Pokemon. -The Professor was informed that folks were trying to flirt with him, he questioned why he was attractive enough to be flirted with. Maybe… the Professor is insecure? -Turo meets Director Sada (@/ask-directorsada-and-friends) and immediately gets emotional, hugging her tightly and breaking down. Turns out that despite not being his Sada, he misses her. -Turo runs into Professor Arven (@/ask-professor-arven) and elated, he exclaims he has a son upon seeing Arven after so long. -It’s eluded that Turo’s Arven is FTM Transgender -Poco Path Lighthouse seems to be where the Professor has made his home. -Turo mentions he’s in chronic pain and doesn’t sleep well. -Someone tells Turo about Iron Leaves, and thinking it’s in Area Zero, mentions that Arven won’t meet up with him if he goes back down there -Turo obtains a Blue iCat from AI Turo (@/ask-the-very-real-human-turo) a… friendship is formed, as well as a warning that if the cat goes for thumbs to throw it out. -The Herba Mystica is a myth, according to Turo

-The knowledge that Turo is self conscious of his grey hair has been passed on to Director Sada -People keep trying to hook him up with Director Sada, Turo is firm in the fact that he’s divorced, and she is, in fact; still married. -Turo is compared to a grumpy eevee, and yamper -Turo defends the Protocol (@/asktheprotocol) when people hacked its systems causing it to speak in ‘uwu’ -An Amura egg was deposited on his table and was quickly taken care of by Turo’s Altaria. -Turo’s team is revealed, including him mentioning that his relationship with Miraidon is mutual.

Zenith Skies, Nadir Lows Summary

Hi, it's Grimm (they/she)! I just came here to give a synopsis of ZSNL. I made a similar post earlier, but when I made it I didn't know what direction of the story was going to go. I know now so here's a more 'detailed' post!

Zenith Skies, Nadir Lows (ZSNL as I commonly shorten it to) is my original fantasy story about a group of fallen angels (The Angels of the Dusk) finding their way through the (after)life after their banishment from Paradiso. Although the story focuses on all of the Dusk Angels, the primary character is Janus Vestinus, a Fae-Angel hybrid and their struggles. ZSNL will be set in the Inferno and will contain some sensitive topics. I will be stating in each post for the chapter what specific topics will pop up.

P.S. It might take a while for the prologue of ZSNL to be posted. So, I might be posting once a week for progress checks (maybe).

Soo i know I've been playing this game for a couple of months now and I made a quick summary about the games story and lore

Ch0

It focus on gaia(MC) dealing with the lost of hes brother after they tried to kill barboros, and him partaking the dragon blood and being a half dragon deity, while off screen the what i assume the antagonists of this game jalam wants to take the dragon power of gaia, so he can rule el dorado so Gaia along with barboros(lil form) he's servant amorey and gaia healer friend flee from bal castle with the help of leonhart. A piarte captain but they escape but they were attack by dakkar(god of the sea) who plans to take gaia and make him he's mate, they protected gaia which resulted with leon ship being destroyed. But no worries they manage to drift to the free city of variey and mange to fend off dakkar with the help of billford, rook and sol. The chapter ends with gaia finding out about crystalline goods when he accidentally activate leon, bal explained these are the source of very high magic and can only be taken off if they form a bond with a certain deity

Ch1

So in this chapter gaia plans on returning home to explain the situation he's in but he didn't know that his hometown pays blanc has been infested with slime like creatures that posses there bodies. Even his father morgan was also a victim of it and ordered an arrest on gaia, The reason why there's a major slime infestation its because of jade who is revealed to be the shadow king of jealousy, and he targeted the king of pays blanc. King equus cause of he's jealousy towrads the adventurers of the kingdom, Gaia along with he's crew Amorey, Elaine, leon, robin and barboros they manage to defeat jade and saved pays blanc. With king equus free he planned a clean up of pays blanc and removing the arrest they put on gaia and bal, also alec didn't die it was reveal he was teleported on dragon isle lair and meet stalon who nurse him(but also tried to fight him) the chapter ends with bal and gaia having a heartfelt moment but it was cut short when an injured kafka ask for there help

This is just a side story that took place after ch 1 basically the story tells king equus being a vigilante using jade power(yes jade didn't die) under the name of chivalrous baron to clean up crime on the streets of pays blanc but it didn't turn out quiet well as he wanted cause instead he just got buttfuck by 3 of he's most loyal attendants which is edgar,romanes and volund, they were suspected of several crimes by barlitz(pays blanc detective) edgar organizing a human trafficking auction/prostitution beneath the adventurers guild, romanes turning the public bath into a cruising spot and volund soliciting newbie adventurers to pay with there bodies for new armors/gears , so yeah in the end none of these 3 got punish for there crimes, equus just ignore it so he can get free dick especially from volund(he made equus he's bitch)

Ch2

This one focus on kafka rescuing his lover helion who is lock away in obsidonia, and he ask the help of gaia and he's friends they agreed, they met dyne a headless paladin who was once alive, till he's hometown was conquer and destroyed by obsidonia so he carried a grudge against emperors from that place, he tried to attcak kafka even though he wasn't the emperor of that time it happned, they continue there adventure till the chief werewolf rogarou kidnapped kafka and bought him to rothart mansion where gordov, plans to awaken the shadow king of gluttony beezlbub. But kafka does not know how cause unlike he's prevoise successors kafka did not partake on the outh of gluttony. So gordov decided to plan some other way meanwhile gaia and he's crew manage to rescue kafka from rothart. Even though he didn't even fight them he even offer he's manion for them to rest, while the gang were sleeping helion who was still imprisoned met bezulbub and he ask helion to form a bond with him, which he did beacuse of he's hatred towrads obsidonia and he's hunger for relief of being a slave to an emperor, beacuse of this bezulbub power re awaken and change the castle into he's lair, Gaia and hes crew fought off bezelbub and a posses helion but failed which ended up with kafka being badly injured, when they thought all hope was lost, kafka body begun to glow and a massive burst of magic he has acquired when he made contact with gaia, and with that power kafka manage to defeat bezulbub(except he didn't die) and save helion, the chapter ends with all of them returning to pays blanc(cause obsidonia was destroyed after the battle) and kafka is planning to go to surtsey to make some sort of reputation repair cause beofore obsidonia is know as a conquering nation. There quench for glory can't be fulfilled which is why they have gluttony as there shadow king

New World, Old Friends

So I’ve been low activity because I have recently switched hyperfixations and am now completely obsessing over Greek Mythology, and have started developing my own story using the gods as characters, that I hope to one day make into a comic of some kind. For how, here’s the plot summary that I have written up..

A millennium ago, an unknown god incurred the wrath of Chaos, and as punishment, she placed the gods of Olympus in an enchanted hibernation. Now, a thousand years later in the 21st century, they’ve all begun awakening again, and while many of the gods and goddess find they are able to pretty much pick up where they left off, one god has been troubled since he awakened. Hades has been suffering headaches every day and nightmares every night, and he swears he's hearing voices as he wanders his realm. When he goes to check on Tartarus, his breath stops. The lack of maintenance over the past millennium has caused some extensive damage to the entrance that has begun to spread to the inside. At the same time, he finally hears what the voices he's been hearing were saying. It was Kronos, and he was trying to get Hades to release him. In a rage, Hades is able to put a temporary shield over the entrance which prevents Kronos from getting out physically at the time, however the titan is already in Hades’ mind and takes every opportunity to impede as he makes plans for more permanent repairs. 

Despite his every effort to not worry Persephone and keep quiet about his father, she is still able to notice the strain on Hades' mind. She wants to help him, but the timing is not great, for spring is about to begin and she must once again make her journey to the mortal realm to work with her mother. Knowing that she can't abandon her husband, but that she also can't ghost her mother, she takes some soil from the Underworld's entrance, and some flowers from the recent bloom, and uses them to create a child. She then travels to the mortal realm with the child and leaves him in the care of Demeter to help her with the seasons while she returns to the Underworld to be at Hades' side.

can you explain a little bit about what lyphuriaa is? is that the name of the story, or the setting? who exactly are lulu and vlad?

Setting

Actually, it's the name for both! Lyphuriaa is the name of a former island-country that has been ravaged by a war, during which most of its native people, a sub-race of Devons and a culture known as Lyphurians, were killed.

The war was started by the Devons themselves, who noticed that the land gave its inhabitants many benefits such as increased power (that ultimately made them branch out as a whole sub-race). But before being wiped out, the Lyphurians managed to seal the land's properties and thus became useless for the Devons.

So, Lyphuriaa became a forbidden, ruined land and the few remaining Lyphurians scattered throughout the world, trying to fit in and avoid the Devon countries' assassins who were still after them. They'd marry Vampires or other rare Devons and try to live normally.

Backstory

Lulu is the result of one such marriage, but her tumultuous backstory will stay a mystery until it's revealed sometime during the actual story so let's just skip to when the story of Lyphuriaa (the current title for it) starts, and that's when she meets Vlad.

Vlad is a Vampire – for the sake of efficiency, let's just say the Vampires of this world are like regular humans but with increased lifespans, a few extra abilities, and who need to drink blood regularly; they're a regular race, no other vampire trope is in effect here (bites/eyes/sun etc). They're literally the sister race of Devons, since the very first Vampire and Devon were twins. So, Vlad is another character with a huge backstory and is probably my most complex one too, who will probably throw off a lot of people from his actions and way of thinking, but he's also my favorite!

Anyways back on track, when the story starts we have a young, amnesic Lulu who finds herself in a strange place. In front of her is an imprisoned Vlad, completely sealed, looking like an ice sculpture. There's a strange device placed there and as soon as Lulu touches it, there's a violent shock, Vlad's seals are broken, and the Liance bonds their souls forever.

The Liance could be its own post entirely, but to make it short, the Liance is a Devon practice that can link together two people (it doesn't have to be romantic; one must be a Devon but the other one can be either a Devon or a Vampire, since they're genetically close) and allows them to share their power, feel each other's physical feelings (pain, hunger, pleasure etc) and links their minds but also their lives – if one dies, so does the other. Not only that, but when they taste the feeling of belonging with the other, of being one, they can never get rid of the emptiness and incompleteness feelings if they separate. And needless to say, there's no way to undo the bond. It had so much inconveniences that it was toned-down later for more general use – if you want a more detailed post, just let me know!

So yes, someone set Vlad and Lulu up to be lianced with this ancient, forgotten Liance. From that point on, they'll have to learn how to deal with it and adapt to it together. Lulu who has amnesia, and Vlad who was imprisoned for over five decades, rediscover the world together, and will have to make painful choices to keep nurturing a healthy relationship. Once that's sorted out, though, and both Vlad and Lulu are over this period of individual reconstruction and adapting to life as Liancees, that's when the fun really begins – and it's also when my previous sketches are set in time.

Turns out, they really do have a lot of chemistry and are very compatible with each other, and that allows them to unleash the full potential of the Liance, creating Vladleen. That's not a ship name (not yet at this point, at least) but rather how other people in-universe refer to them, as they really do operate as one. Their story is only beginning, and of course will be the focus of Lyphuriaa!
