wait so I'm new here...why exactly did Guido and Dante have a fight?
oh anon, why indeed?? why??
Seriously though, we don't know! We have some remaining poems that suggest an argument together with the political events of the 1290s, but the reason behind it is usually attributed to poetical, political or philosophical reasons. I will explain under the cut!
Simply put, the story goes this way: Guido was a knight, a nobleman, his family was one of the richest inside of Florence. Dante was eh...let's say burgeois? He wasn't filthy rich like Guido but he got by better than most, in fact Dante's father had been a moneylender and the family owned some lands which were managed by Francesco, Dante's brother; furthermore, Dante dedicated himself to poetry and philosophy meaning he was rich enough to not have to work. In the 1280s, thanks to a poem, he befriended Guido, who was also considered the best poet inside of Florence, which, as a consequence, introduced him into the circles of intellectuals and noblemen. Basically, Dante felt he was more noble than burgeois. These years were the period of harmony and happiness between the two and, presumably, between their poetical beliefs.
What happened in the 1290s though? Beatrice Portinari, Dante's muse, dies (if we want to believe she existed, as there are debates on this topic too). This causes a radical change in Dante's way of writing poetry. The proof of this is his libello, Vita Nova, in which he re-interprets some chosen poems of his into a mystical, catholic, new key. Paradoxically, it was dedicated to Guido, who was close to (if not fully) atheist, or at least he was surely not a regular catholic if we consider that a poet (forgive me but right now I cannot remember for the life of me the name) advised readers to do the sign of the cross before reading his poems. Now, now, you will say 'okay but where's the fight?' the fight is in Donna me prega and I' vegno il giorno a te infinite volte, by Guido, and in Dante approving of new political reforms that prohibited noblemen from participating in politics, becoming prior in june 1300 and exiling Guido thus bringing him to his death in august. It's a lot, but the key to it all is here.
Going in order, Donna me prega expresses the exact. opposite. beliefs. of Vita Nova. It's a long, intricate, extremely refined and complex philosophical poem that, if closely analyzed, will bring you to the conclusion that this man does not believe in the immortality of the soul, does not believe in God, does not believe love to be a positive force (and I would add the observation that, with a catholic view, God=Love). So, this is a first point of possible attrition, but one could say 'maybe they had different views but were still friends'. True. However, let us go further.
I' vegno il giorno a te infinite volte. This poem is addressed directly to Dante, as suggests the rhyme scheme of ABBA ABBA CDE EDC which he always used when writing to him. This poem has been interpreted in many different ways, but one thing is sure, the composition is reprimanding Dante of some kind of vileness. THIS. IS. IT. what is he talking about? What did Dante do? What did he not do, maybe? Is it vileness due to unacceptable beliefs? Unacceptable political decisions? Unacceptable behaviour Something completely different of which we have no record whatsoever? Something completely personal?
This brings us to a final observation regarding Dante's life after Guido, which seems to at least confirm that there was something unresolved between the two at the time of Guido's death. Dante's works become haunted by Guido's presence, whether it be through a direct quotation, a subtle wink to the reader, or worse and more importantly, through the desperate attempt to not have him weaved inside the fabric of his works. I am not trying to psychoanalyse a man who died 703 years ago, but really if a thought keeps occuring in your mind, it is a sign that it needs to be listened, and Dante spent the rest of his life avoiding that. I have said this before, somewhere, but I'll say it again: no one reaches the age of 56 and is still this troubled by a friend (ex-friend?) who died 21 years ago.
I will leave to you, anon, the duty to decide for yourself what the answer to all of this is. I hope it was clear enough! At any rate, it's always a pleasure to ramble on about these two :') (also my followers by now know everything about them so it's refreshing to have a new victi- ahem, a new audience :))

On July 11th 1274 Robert the Bruce was born in Turnberry Castle, Ayrshire.
Sorry for the lack of posts yesterday I was out the house all day, I am showing friends round Edinburgh today but will try and get a few posts scheduled, this first one is of course a "biggie"
I don't like repeating the same old story, especially on posts like this, The Bruce turns up so often in my posts that it isn't any wonder he is part of the Scottish Psyche. In 2006 Robert the Bruce came third in a poll of ‘most important Scots’, behind William Wallace and Robert Burns. Leaving aside what that says about the nation that produced, among others, David Hume and Adam Smith, Alexander Fleming and John Logie Baird, there can be no doubt that a king that ruled 700 years ago is still very much remembered by Scots today and, even more pertinently, that his life and achievements are deemed to be profoundly influential. It is hard to imagine Edward III or Henry V of England being similarly admired.
Not a lot is known about Robert's early life so unfortunately I do end up repeating parts of his life.....
Looking into how he came to be our Monarch, Bruce’s grandfather had come off second best in 1292 to a rival claimant to the Scottish throne, John Balliol, who then reigned for four years until Edward I deprived him of his kingship in 1296. John Comyn of Badenoch, as Balliol’s nephew, had both an arguably better claim by blood and certainly by power, influence and track record than Robert Bruce, for his own ambitions, whether it be just to become King, or for the sake of ridding Scotland of Edwards army Robert had to ‘deal’ with his rival before seeking the throne for himself.
In this fracturing and fevered environment, the would-be king turned to Bishop Robert Wishart of Glasgow, a man who had shown himself consistently motivated since the 1280s by a desire to keep Scotland intact and independent (though he, like most Scots, had on occasions been forced to acknowledge King Edward as ruler of the northern kingdom). We do not know that Bishop Wishart made Bruce ‘swear upon the Holy Gospels and the tomb of St Kentigern’ to pursue the cause of Scottish independence with his life, if necessary. Equally, no chronicler at the time mentions the introduction of elements of sacramental kingship that the Scots had long sought from the pope but been denied thanks to English claims of overlordship on the day that Bruce finally did become king.
If you've seen the new film about The Bruce, you will know it is all about the man himself, rather than the historical facts in his reign, and that's why I liked it, I mean come on, we ALL know the story by now and if you don't what have you been doing for the past few years as you haven't been reading my posts!
Robert Bruce, was a man possessed with the ability to think laterally and effectively on almost every issue but saddled by his own hand with one of the most dodgy starts to a successful reign as any in history. Some say he learned to think this way after observing William Wallace, I also like to think this, but he had enough savvy himself to be his own man.
The problem with looking at Scotland in those heady days is that, unlike England, we hardly wrote anything down, Edward and his constant war waging meant he had to raise money for these attacks on Scotland and Wales beforehand, so the English always had that extra layer of bureaucracy, while historians can look at some of their records to glean information about Scotland, we mainly have to look at Chroniclers, like Lanecrost, or the likes of Blind Harry, the author of "he Actes and Deidis of the Illustre and Vallyeant Campioun Schir William Wallace" And John Barbour who wrote "The Brus". In the first case Harry wrote his epic over 150 years after William Wallace's murder. At least Barbour was living in an age where The Bruce was alive, albeit for nine of the years, but events and stories were still fresh and must have been repeated often about our Kings heroics in unting Scotland and vanquishing the English. But Barbour was never going to write anything negative about Bruce, it was Robert II, the first of the Stewart line, that asked Barbour to write the poem, it was always going to be a great propaganda exercise.
Okay let's go back a wee bit, there has been some debate about where Bruce was born, some mischief makers even suggest he was not born at Turnberry, after all we have no diminutive proof, but at Writtle in deepest Essex. The Bruce family owned swathes of land down south, and there is no doubt the young Robert would have spent time in the depths of the English royal courts, he was not uncouth Scottish brute, he grew up in a world of fluid identities, no doubt speaking a number of languages, and with easy access to both the overtly powerful and impressively formal English court as well as the highly personal and personable style of kingship still preferred in Scotland.
One of the things Robert the Bruce may very well have learned from the English and used most notably was the commandeering of noble seals to be attached to documents of state in order to present a veneer of unity to the outside world, this is most notable in the 1320 Declaration of Arbroath, it has been argued he took this inspiration from King Edwards, Ragman Rolls, Edward I’s large-scale demand for Scottish seals to acknowledge his right to rule Scotland in 1296.
After Bannockburn and the Declaration of Arbroath King Robert’s genius as a lawmaker and diplomat to rival his undoubted skill as a military leader has also been admired, he had a fine line to tread, while he had gained the upper hand against Edward II's army, many Scots fought against him that day, or at very least supported the English. Even after his death some of those families on the losing side that would come back to try and regain lands and titles from the second Bruce monarch, his son King David II.
The pics are King Robert's statue at Bannockburn and two reconstructions of how Turnbery may have looked, by my Twitter friend Andrew Spratt.

I tried to get trough all as fast as possible. I not only got information on Eckhardt, there are several published diary pages by him. It was terror trying to decipher them, but I managed, I think I managed to live so that's harder than reading cursive. Here's Vasiley's answer:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Transcript of the first and second page: The essential part of his answer is as follows- he's a bit secretive of the number of his clients concearning the Obscura Paintings, not Engravings. There exist five of these paintings and they are iconography, hence they were made on thick wooden pieces. They are relatively small: abour 19 to 25cm in height and 10 to 17cm wide. There exist alongside the paintings the Obscura Engravings, Vasiley has one, Werner had some(?), at least one that I know of. The man who painted over the original images and made it Christian is Brother Obscura, who should have a tomb...somewhere. The lore says they had demonic powers and this couldn't be given out to normal people.
Tumblr media
Transcript of the third page: In conclusions:
No information on any other client(s)
He sent Werner an Engraving, not an Obscura Painting, and I'm not sure why. Werner would surely want all five?
Brother Obscura died and as a monk he'll have a tomb, somewhere. But where?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Transcript of the fourth and fifth page: So, Meister Eckhardt was a German theologian, philosopher and mystic born around 1260 who died in 1328 presumably. There is no good picture of him and all existing ones show him in old age. He was a monk and only his last name is known, the first one is lost.
His official timeline is as follows:
1274 he participates in the dominican monastery in Erfurt as a monk
1280 start of his studies in "Studium naturalium"
1289 Eckhardt finishes his studies and is now a lector for other monks
1294 he enters a Christian faculty in PARIS, which means he has tis to the city the Monstrum is running around in
until 1302 no one knows what he was up to
1323 Thomas von Aquin is considered a saint, but Eckhardt should have taken his place instead
1325 the Pope himself(!) suspects Eckhardt to be doing something mysterious and occult
he died before the court ruling went through
People were forbidden to use his name out of fear to be heretics. He was regarded as a negative person that offended the Pope, thus not being a devout good Christian. His date of death is unknown, and I#ll wear my tinfoil hat and say: what if he just lived? He's a mystic, and possibly dealt with alchemy. And the Lux Veritatis are said to have killed him way, way later. Or maybe it was a desendant of his? But he was a monk, so...might have been diffucult to find a woman.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Transcript of the sixth and seventh page: Make the tinfoil hat a tinfoil home: the diary pages have connections to what's happening in Paris and I don't think this is coincidence. I copeid them from our library and if the pages are true, Eckhardt has to do with the supernatural. if it's the real Middle Ages Eckhardt peopel still talk about today he had to find the Philosopher's Stone. If this is true, where has he been hiding? There is no record of him today. Did he just vanish and staged his death and continued to live on?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Transcript of the eight and ninth pages: Page one Twenty years after the accusations he moved to Prague. Vasiley's gallery is also there, and if Vasiley is a Lux Veritatis and also old as shit they might know another. Eckhardt was hurt by a boating accident, then went into hiding. The sweres of the city provided him with shelter to work a hundered(!) years for the "Eluminated", whatever the fuck this is. He wrote his survival will reveal wheather the deal was real, he sounds like a lunatic, and my tinfoil is growing.
Page two He said he wants the "Eluminated" to breed on Earth and I think he could mean Nephilim since I've come across these several times now. The "Secret Shills" he talked about could be alchemy, like I expected, and it gets creepier- he wants a human body to be a vessel for his Eluminated, so what if he is responsible for the murders? What if he did kill these people to take something from them (they accused the organ mafia in the newspapers!) to put everything into one person and frankenstein his vessel to repopulate the earth...after what, exactly? He claimed to have healed in supernatural speed and mentions his "guidl brothers" which makes me think he also has a club, like the LV, that work for or with him. What if?
Page three He confirms he tried to make man-made bodies as hosts for his bosses, the Eluminated. So yeah, he's a sicko. He said he needs more time and I think that's the deal: he was granted a longer life span to make the world suitable for breeiding the nephilim race. He's got a deal with the Biblical half angels. Yeah I need a drink.
I'll write down my suspected Eckhardt timeline for after his staged death (or his death and ressurection?). I'll check Fayolah's mail again, she mentioned the LV and might give me a hint.
I will write FAyolah again, and I will visit Margot's district tomorrow. I know we shouldn't leave our houses, but staying here with my journal full of otherworldly things feels liek I'm losing it. Fresh air and people made of flesh and blood should do me good.

NEW ZEALAND
DAY ONE
My adventure in New Zealand actually started 3 months prior to visiting because I needed to validate my US Passport to be able to go. But today, I actually arrived in the country. You do not need any vaccinations, but you do need to get either a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority or a visa to travel.
After landing and getting off my plane, I checked into my Airbnb. I decided to splurge while in New Zealand and stay at Lakefront, which is a one bedroom, one bath located in Queenstown. Lakefront rental is on Lake Wakatipu. The Airbnb costs $470 USD a night (New Zealand uses the New Zealand Dollar, making it $767 NZD), and since I will be staying 2 nights, my total is $1,534 NZD.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first thing I wanted to see in New Zealand is the Milford Sound, located a 4-hour drive away from my Airbnb. Milford Sound is a fjord stretching across 15 kilometers with waterfalls reaching as high as 1000 meters. When you're in Milford Sound, you can go on a cruise tour, go kayaking, go diving, or hike. I chose to take the boat cruise, so I could see the aquatic wildlife, but not as close as the diving adventure. The price range for an adult taking the cruise is $135 to $219 NZD ($82.63 to $134.05 USD). Milford Sound has very heavy rainfall and the temperature is 64 °F during the summer and 41 °F during the winter. The cruise usually lasts between an hour and 45 minutes to 3 hours. Mine was 2 hours long.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
DAY TWO
Between 1280 and 1350, Polynesians settled into the 600 New Zealand islands, making it the last large chunk of land to be settled into. Soon after they arrived to New Zealand, they developed a Māori culture. In 1642, a Dutch man saw New Zealand and recorded its existence to the world. In 1769, a British man set foot onto New Zealand, and 71 years later in 1840, representatives from the UK and Māori chiefs signed the Treaty of Waitangi, which gave all control of the country to Britain. They remained under control of the British until 1947, when they gained back full control of their islands. The majority of New Zealand's population now is still European, and the main language is English and not Māori.
There is no recognized main religion in New Zealand, the biggest religion is Christianity, with only 38% of the population (5 million) identifying as Christian. 8% of the country believe in another religion, such as Islam, Buddhism Hinduism, etc. and 49% of the population do not affiliate themselves with any religion at all. Some Māori people around New Zealand still follow the traditional Māori religion, but once England swooped in, many of them converted to Christianity.
I started my day off by getting something to eat. The national dish of New Zealand is Fish and chips, or meat pie. Neither of those sounded particularly appetizing, so I decided to get Pavlova, the nation's dessert. Pavlova is a meringue dessert that hails from Australia and New Zealand.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After eating some of the nation's greatest food, I wanted to visit the Hamilton Gardens, located 3 hours and 15 minutes away by plane. I used my private jet and landed exactly at the garden. Admissions have been free since they opened, but starting spring 2024, admissions will become $20 NZD ($12.24 USD). Luckily for me, I am travelling in May, and spring in New Zealand is September-November due to being in the Southern Hemisphere. You can get a tour guide for the gardens, those tickets costing $25 NZD ($15.30 USD). With the tour guide, you are taken on a journey and get told about hidden stories, secret symbols, and insights. There are different gardens you can visit, and people recommend spending 2–3 hours thoroughly exploring each one. Hamilton Gardens take the different influences other cultures have in New Zealand and connects them all, showcasing nature and artwork from each. The different gardens include:
Ancient Egyptian Garden
Mansfield Garden
Picturesque Garden
Chinoiserie Garden
Te Parapara
Tropical Garden
Japanese Garden of Contemplation
Modernist Garden
Chinese Scholars' Garden
Surrealist Garden
Indian Char Bagh Garden
Rogers Rose Garden
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can get married at Hamilton Gardens, but there are varying prices.
From July 1–December 31
Up to 2 hours and the park remains open to the public: $653.49 NZD ($400 USD)
Up to 2 hours and the park is closed to the public: $1772.59 NZD ($1085 USD)
From January 1-June 30
Wedding in outdoor garden up to 2 hours and the park remains open: $653.49 NZD ($400 USD)
Wedding Photoshoot: $163.37 NZD ($100 USD)
Wedding in enclosed gardens up to 2 hours and park is open for public: $1306.98 NZD ($800 USD)
Garden is closed to the public and no time limit: $2426.07 NZD ($1485 USD)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After visiting the Hamilton Gardens, I flew back to Queenstown. In Queenstown, I did the Tiki Trail, a challenging hike due to the fact it's mostly uphill. The hike lasts around 1 hour, and you are hiking 2.1 km. After hiking up the hill for an hour, you take the Skyline gondola back down. People recommend taking walking sticks with you, so it is a little easier. The elevation you are climbing is 404 meters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After hiking the Tiki Trail and getting married, I needed to head to my Airbnb and go to sleep, wrapping up my New Zealand adventure.
I very much enjoyed New Zealand. Compared to Guam, New Zealand is lacking in traditional culture, but it has way more natural beauty than Guam. Even though I spent less time here, I preferred it here than in Guam.

Life Beyond the Mic: Natalia Quest's Passions and Pursuits Allow me to introduce Natalia Quest. She is the Russian singer-songwriter who’s currently causing waves in LA. Her stage name, a fusion of her innate sense of adventure and the word 'Quest,' reflects a deliberate choice to encapsulate the essence of her journey through life and music. "Inversion" delves into the depths of societal discord, wielding orchestral arrangements, gritty guitars, and haunting vocals to mirror the stark realities of our contemporary world. The song serves as both a commentary and a call to action, challenging listeners to confront the unsettling truths woven into the fabric of our existence. But Natalia is not only music; devotion to human beings stays outside studio boundaries. For instance, she recounts how she parted ways with a sound designer because of their inability to connect well with her creativity. Join us as we delve deeper into the life of this multi-talented musician. Listen to Inversion below https://open.spotify.com/track/5ntxBhOQLkLQoFFSG1VmT2 Follow Natalia Quest on Facebook Spotify Soundcloud Youtube Instagram What is your stage name? Natalia Quest Is there a story behind your stage name? When I recorded my first song several years ago, I also had to choose a name for my project. I asked myself, 'What pseudonym or word could succinctly and metaphorically encapsulate the quintessence of my personality, experiences, and ever-evolving consciousness?' And within a few days, the word 'Quest' confidently came to me. Where do you find inspiration? I don't actively seek it… Inspiration comes spontaneously. Often, as a form of therapy during intense moments in my life, I gravitate towards listening to intense songs that help process my feelings, or I create ones like that myself. While pain can certainly serve as a major source of inspiration, I can also draw inspiration from very positive and uplifting aspects of life, as well as from some artists and writers, , and their masterpieces that touch my soul. What was the role of music in the early years of your life? I graduated from a music school and a music college in my hometown in Russia. Although my school years were not the most pleasant and easy for me due to various reasons, I believe that my academic background still helps me incorporate classical elements into my compositions and feel more comfortable experimenting with musical harmonies. During my teenage years, I was a huge fan of Queen. They became my role models for their unique approach to mainstream, playful freedom of artistic expressions, sophisticated self-ironical rebelliousness, and their bold blend of various genres, etc [caption id="attachment_53663" align="alignnone" width="1280"] Life Beyond the Mic: Natalia Quest's Passions and Pursuits[/caption] Are you from a musical or artistic family? Partially. My father and my uncle possess great creative and musical talents. Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry? The music industry itself is not very inspiring, and I've encountered a lot of resistance in pursuing this path. However, lyrics and music keep coming to me. I heard someone wise say that keeping your art to yourself is also a form of crime. Therefore, I am more inspired by the idea of sharing my songs with those willing to listen, rather than by being a part of the music industry per se. How did you learn to sing/write/to play? I am not very fond of playing various instruments, and when it comes to singing, I underwent a complex and unconventional journey that required me to figure out how to 'unlearn' certain things and imprints to simply unleash my natural voice and my true essence through vocals. I have always written poetry, and my first mature songs were recorded in 2014. I don't use formulas or algorithms in composition; I want to give the song the freedom to be what it wants to be. And yes, I am constantly learning and will continue to learn; I cannot claim that I have fully mastered anything by this point.
What was the first concert that you ever went to, and who did you see perform? I think it was the Russian rock singer Vladimir Kuzmin, and I was around 5 years old. ) How could you describe your music? It's a form of magic to me. It's a form of a spell. Most of my lyrics have a tendency to manifest itself over time—it's fascinating, and this observation imposes a certain responsibility on me, as well as presents me with some interesting dilemmas. Describe your creative process. There's nothing linear in there. It's about observing how chaos and raw emotion gradually take shape, flowing through time and your entire being. Each song is a separate world to me, with its own history. What is your main inspiration? The idea that my craft can help someone navigate through difficult times and/or realize something important for themselves, consequently changing their life for the better, inspires me the most. Who do you see as your main competitor? I do not compete in art… everyone is a unique expression of the Source, you can only compete with your past self What are your interests outside of music? I have a degree in psychology, and I am continuing my education in this field. Additionally, I have studied astrology, which remains both my hobby and an addiction, in a way) I also like exploring the hidden and taboo aspects of reality and society, which helps me better understand the bigger picture. If it wasn't a music career, what would you be doing? I would work as a therapist, conduct honest and transparent charitable acts, which, in fact, I have always wanted to do, regardless of music. I would also like to help address environmental issues in the future when my more basic needs are further fulfilled and secured. https://open.spotify.com/artist/6UzJ061DDm9yS8aztWndxj?si=IZuiDAxxSOmv69nZl10UvA If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be? I would cultivate a more complex and profound approach to composition in the mainstream. The simplification and algorithmic soullessness of much of today's mainstream music can truly upset me. I would also stop glorifying consumption in one form or another. We are much deeper and far more interesting beings to primarily cultivate and celebrate our animalistic urges. Do you have any artistic collaboration plans? Yes, I’m open to collaborating with like-minded professionals. The right chemistry is rare but can perform miracles when combining the right skill set along with it. What message would you like to give to your fans? Be very honest, first and foremost, with yourself. Then with others. Treat yourself with kindness and compassion. The world will reflect ,)

Faking in China dates from at least the Sung Dynasty (960-1280) when the wealthy began to collect art. Forged paintings were mostly made by students seeking to imitate the masters. It still seems a common practice!
14th Century, Italian stone carvers:
The stone carvers lead the way in commercially forgery, faking works of art by imitating Greek and Roman master craftsmen and creating sculptures which could and were to be sold to the rich as authentic antiques! Much the same tale as that of their Roman counterparts.
Jacopo di Poggibonsi: (1418-1449) Italian
There are many contemporary critics at the University of Michigan who label Jacopo di Poggibonsi as a "master forger". This criticism stems from his purported imitation of the works of Fra Filippo Lippi which Cosimo de' Medici in about 1447 realised he had copied elements of, from an Adoration hanging in the Medici Palace. However, many artists of the time engaged in imitations of the earlier styles and after all, in translation from the French renaissance does mean, "rebirth." Clearly, many Renaissance artists not only imitated earlier forms of art, but also each other's recent works. It was standard practise.
History according to U of M has it however that Lippi was outraged and is believed to have hired paid muscle to track down di Poggibonsis' studio where more alleged copies were found.
A few days later, thirty-one year old Jacopo, is found murdered in his bed.
All in all a good story but sadly untrue.
Art History Students are advised to check this out very carefully. All may not be as it seems!
Piero del Pollaiuolo: (1443-1496) Italian
Made pastiches (copies) of works by artists such as Sandro Botticelli as illustrated here on the right.
His, Profile of a woman is a straight copy of Portrait of a Woman (La Bella Simonetta) and this reproduction is now housed in the Museo Poldi-Pezzoli in Milan.
Michelangelo di Ludovico di Lionardo di Buonarroti Simoni: (1475-1564) Italian
It's widely believed that the worlds greatest sculptor Michaelangelo as a student, forged an "antique" marble cupid for his patron, Lorenzo de' Medici.
It is certainly recorded that he also produced many replicas of the drawings of Italian painter Domenico Ghirlandajo (1449–1494) which were so good that on seeing them Ghirlandajo thought they were from his own hand. “He also copied drawings of the old masters so perfectly that his copies could not be distinguished from the originals, since he smoked and tinted the paper to give it an appearance of age. He was often able to keep the originals and return the copies in their stead.” Vasari on Michaelangelo
Colantonio
Neapolitan painter also known as Colantuono was appreciated as an imitator of the Flemish masters such as van Eyck and for making fake drawings by Dürer.
Marcantonio Raimondi: Italian (1480c. - 1534)
Interested in German engraving, he affected copper numerous woodcuts of Albrecht Dürer.
According to Vasari he made 17 copies of Dürer selling them as originals.

Breton Cassette is proud to share release # 037 while its warm by Ayami Suzuki and Leo Okagawa
while it's warm, a collaboration between Leo Okagawa and Ayami Suzuki is a slow and careful mix of electronics, vocal, guitar, and field recording from everyday life. Rain, humming, sounds from an open window, steps, electronic interference; all woven together as in a veiled texture, not unlike our memories, they too eventually become veiled. As diarists, Okagawa and Suzuki share their everyday sounds and invite the listener into something close and mundane. They reconstruct, combine and mix their stories into 6 subtle, poetic and melancholic soundworks, where the ordinary is given attention. while it's warm is presented on cassette in a handmade envelope together with three still prints from one of Suzuki's video work.
Thank you Ayami and Leo for making this cassette, and videowork; over a year of keeping in touch.
Ayami Suzuki is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Tokyo, Japan. Leo Okagawa is a sound artist based in Tokyo, Japan. He started recording environmental sounds in 2014, and around that time he started making multilayered collage works from elements of recorded sounds, analog machine’s noise, and simple electric tone. . In 2022, he started his own record label, “zappak”, and has been publishing music by other artists on CD. other artists.

【Review】 Vital Weekly: Following last week's solo cassette by Ayami Suzuki, she returns with another duo cassette with Leo Okagawa. The second time they worked together (see also Vital Weekly 1280). The first contained two concert recordings; now, it is a studio work using electronics, guitar, field recordings and Suzuki's voice. Both composers are archivists concerning everyday sound. Anything they hear can be the subject of recording, and many of these sounds are very mundane, around-the-house sort of sounds. Captured on a portable cassette recorder, these sounds instantly have a somewhat lo-fi touch. In the opening, 'The Path, Part Two', there is the sound of fire, plus some more obscured ones, put together in a collage form, with only Suzuki's voice at the very end of the piece. The collage form is something they apply in all six pieces here, adding the guitar and electronics very sparsely. The same goes for the voice. They spread out their sounds, giving them space and clarity. Within a piece, the mood can easily change into something else; abruptly, with a click, it's over, and something else starts. That happens within a few pieces, creating this overall collage effect that makes it one big picture. Somewhere in there is 'A Quiet Somng', a short vocal song by Suzuki, that is a song in itself because it's part of the bigger picture; you could think it is one element of that collage. The music has a very intimate feeling, like we're guests in their homes, and they perform a bit of guitar ('Thousands Of Nights'), light a fire for us, shuffle about on a wooden floor and whisper a few words. Quite poetic, even with some of the occasional electric disturbance occurring, it all stays on the introspective side. Beautiful stuff. (reviewed by Frans de Waard)
Bandcamp Daily - The Best Field Recordings on Bandcamp: August 2023: Listening to while it’s warm is like spending a lazy day with Ayami Suzuki and Leo Okagawa. The actual materials here are nondescript: rain, static, and the sounds of daily life. These are judiciously mixed with brief snippets of Suzuki’s guitar and her tuneful humming while Okagawa plays subtle electronic drones in the background. It’s effortlessly executed—or at least it sounds that way—powerfully evoking the contentment and melancholy of an aimless afternoon. (reviewed by Matthew Blackwell)

The Requirements for USCG Documented Vessel Renewal
It can be difficult to understand the prerequisites for USCG-documented vessel renewal, particularly if this is your first time going through the procedure. In Title 46 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 4, Subpart C, Sections 50-57, you’ll find the prerequisites for this type of extension from the US Coast Guard.
This is where we’ll begin our discussion of these regulations. Within this portion of the CFR, the numerous requirements that must be satisfied by a vessel for it to be qualified for renewal and additional extension are outlined. But don’t be concerned!
In this section, we will review the essential ones so that you can swiftly comprehend how to refresh your receptacle. The following criteria must be met to update a vessel’s documentation with the USCG:
Pass a Vessel Safety Check (VSC) To get your vessel documentation renewed by the USCG, you must first complete a Vessel Safety Check (VSC) examination. Even though the VSC is a short list of standard safety gear, it is simple to leave something behind if you need to practice double-checking it before every trip. You can choose from the “simple,” “intermediate,” or “full” version of VSC.
A basic VSC usually only needs the most fundamental features to be seaworthy. You can get a basic VSC if your vehicle is less than 26 feet long and will only be used in coastal or interior waterways. If your sailboat is at least 26 feet long and you plan to use it in interior or coastal waterways (or both), you will need an intermediate or complete VSC examination.
You must show evidence that your documented craft has completed one of these examinations within the last 90 days before renewing your documentation. A certificate of examination or a certificate of passing can verify this.
Complete a Coast Guard Form CG-1280, Application for Certificate of Documentation The proprietor of a sailboat that needs to have a USCG-documented vessel renewal must first submit an Application for Certificate of Documentation (Form CG-1280) to the Coast Guard. The proprietor must provide details such as the vessel’s name, class, and length, as this is the process of producing a new certificate of paperwork. The ship’s proprietor must also provide evidence that the craft is insured and has been seaworthy for at least a year.
Before completing a repeat request, the Coast Guard may ask for extra paperwork. If the yacht has been sold, the new proprietor must submit a certificate of sale along with the registration. Include information about the boat’s rescue and restoration if lost or injured before you apply to extend its registration.
The same holds for any other ship repairs that may need to be made. In this instance, a declaration from a qualified expert attesting that the adjustments were completed correctly and are up to USCG standards is required.
Payment of the USCG Documented Vessel Renewal Appropriate Fee What we call the US Coast Guard. They are responsible for keeping the nation’s waters safe, upholding marine legislation, and conducting relief operations. Your yacht owners probably know you must re-register your vessel every two years.
The recorded vessel charge is one of the costs involved in this re-registration. You must pay the re-registration charge for each sailboat listed with the US Coast Guard. All paperwork must be returned to receive a reimbursement of the recorded vessel charge.
Your Documentation Certificate and Serial Number Certificate are included. Additionally, you must submit a duplicate of your signed Boat Purchase Agreement and a copy of your Bill of Sale for each watercraft you are filing.
Provide Proof of Insurance The United States Coast Guard (USCG) mandates that any professional watercraft operator operating a boat in US waterways must carry proof of insurance coverage. Even if you only use your watercraft for recreational purposes, you may still be required to obtain insurance coverage.
When the United States Coast Guard talks about a “documented vessel,” they are referring to a watercraft that has been recognized and for which there is official documentation of its existence.
You may be exempt from this prerequisite if you comply with the rules of the jurisdiction in which you are functioning. The United States Coast Guard only mandates that the watercraft proprietor bring evidence of insurance while on board.
Contact Us Today You’ve spent all year preparing for the next fishing season but still standing on the shore. What gives? You thought you were all set to go, but you must renew your USCG-documented vessel. We can help you with that, but first, let’s ensure you know the requirements for documented vessel renewal and how to get the ball rolling on your renewal.

Low resolutions make the game look really blurry and thus it’s not recommended. Change resolution only as the last resort. If you want to really lower it then 1280*720 is the lowest you should go. So I recommend using the same resolution as your Monitor for the Best Gaming Experience. You can play for longer durations and also it’s less straining to your eyes. Using a high resolution for gaming is good for your eyes. Resolution: Same as your Monitor Resolution If later GTA starts support for DirectX 12 switch to it. Unless your graphic card is older than 5 years I recommend using Directx 11. Go with the highest version of DirectX 11 your graphics card supports. You can use enable this option only if you have a high-end system. This option if enabled tends to cause heating issues in some systems and laptops. I recommend you keep this setting off especially if you are using a laptop or a low-end system. Graphics settings: Ignore suggested Limits: off So without further ado lets begin: Best Graphics settings for GTA V: If you have bought the game from steam then you can also use the steam launch settings for GTA V. You can edit the graphics, advanced graphics, and Display Settings in GTA V. Must read: How to get GTA V free on epic games High Detail streaming while flying: off. These are meant for high-end systems only. For low-end systems simply disable all the advanced settings.Refresh rate: Same as monitor refresh rate.Resolution: Same as your Monitor Resolution. If there is anything you want to know, just ask - although I've only done the first couple missions so far.Īlso, sorry for the bad gameplay, I'm not used to playing with WASD and a trackpad while trying to keep the camera steady.Įdit: Title should read 'How GTA 5 runs on Retina Macbook Pro', or something like that.Įdit2: Updated video with different graphics settings and FRAPS. For those of you who are on the fence about this game and have a similar spec Macbook, I hope the video is informative for you and sets your expectations. So far, It is running better than expected, looks good enough and performs well enough as you can see. I have not messed around with the graphics settings to see how much I can push the graphics while still having it perform well enough. The game is running at 1400 x 900 on a Windows 7 Bootcamp partition from an external USB 3 HDD. There is no sound as I was wearing headphones (kids are asleep!).Įverything is on the default 'medium' setting (the lowest) apart from textures which are on 'high'. The video should be 1080p 60fps as I recorded on my iPhone. 2.6GHz Intel Core i5 / 8GB Ram / Intel Iris 5100 1536MB GFX.I am currently playing GTA 5 on my Retina Macbook Pro What does the update to macOS Catalina mean for games?Ī short selection of great, free-to-play games that are available on MacĪdditional resources: News, stores and platforms, deals, related subreddits, forumsĮverything you need to know about Apple Arcade Approved posters can arrange for more daily posts by contacting the moderators. Since HDMI cables are expensive and don’t work well over long distances, the cable is fed into a CAT extender (pictured below), so that the signal is transmitted over a standard ethernet cable. One feed is sent to a recording device, the other is run into another room in the building for live viewing. Next, we get the picture-in-picture footage output as HDMI, which is fed into an HDMI splitter (pictured below).
#AMBERLIGHT UX PRO#
The audio from two boundary microphones is also mixed together, using an audio mixer (a Focusrite Pro Studio Audio Interface). It’s important to use an HD mixer so the resolution of your footage doesn’t get reduced at this stage. This video mixer is used to create the picture-in-picture (PiP) composition. This gives you the second video feed for your picture-in-picture output.īoth video feeds are run into an HD Video Mixer (a “TV One C2-6104a”, approx. In the picture below, you can see the next component – an HD DV camera on a tripod, pointed at the participant’s face. You can shove anything underneath one start recording straight away. This is true, but document cameras are still useful because they are so general purpose. Some researchers don’t like document cameras, saying that they cause participants to hold the test devices in an an unnatural fashion, and that they often hold them out of shot or at the wrong angle for the camera. It costs about $2000, but with the price tag, you get a good lens, good resolution (1280 x 720) and a high frame rate (30 fps). You may have seen this sort of thing on lecterns in lecture theatres. The first component we have here is an ELMO P30s document camera. This helps with buy-in and decision-making, but don’t loose any sleep if you can’t afford it. The point of a rig like this is simply to ensure that stakeholders can watch the live session clearly from another room, and so that good quality highlights can be shared. Luckily, my friends at Amberlight (a London-based UX research consultancy) have agreed to share the specs of their rig, so you can create your own.īefore I start, I want to preface this little instructable with an important point: the quality of your research is determined by the skills of your team, not by the recording equipment they use. Speccing up your own hardware rig can be an intimidating prospect. Even though this is far more expensive than software, the results can be better – often giving higher frame rates, better resolution, and less chance of drop-outs when transmitting live footage. However, specialist UX research agencies often use “Pro” video production hardware for multi-camera recordings. If you’re on PC, you can use AmCap ($29) in a similar manner or Morae in its “mobile device study” mode. On a Mac, you can fudge Silverback to record from a second webcam by using an app like macam to display that webcam’s footage on your desktop. If you want picture-in-picture, then it’s a little more complicated but still doable.
#AMBERLIGHT UX FREE#
This is simple if you don’t want picture-in-picture: you can make a sled like this, mount a webcam on it and record the footage using any free recording app (like Quicktime). a Kindle), then you’ll need to point a camera at its screen.
#AMBERLIGHT UX SOFTWARE#
If you need to record research footage from a device that doesn’t support software recording (e.g.
#AMBERLIGHT UX PC#
You can use Silverback on a Mac ($69.95), Morae on PC ($1,495) or you can try one of the many other screen recording tools on the market today. These days we all know how easy it is to record usability testing sessions on a desktop computer.
