Horror Movie Review: Hell House LLC III: Lake of Fire (2019)
We are back in Hell House again with Hell House LLC III: Lake of Fire as the series looks to correct what went wrong in the second instalment and fails miserably.
Over the years, found footage horror movies get a lot of flack. After the heady days of films such as The Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity and [REC], every man and his dog tried to get in on the act, churning out miserable…

Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor
Regia – Stephen Cognetti (2023)

2023 Horror Challenge: [64/?]
↳“What's on their videos are things that can't be unseen.” Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor (2023) dir. Stephen Cognetti
Plot: A group of cold case investigators stay at the Carmichael Manor. After four nights, the group was never heard from again. What is discovered on their footage is even more disturbing than anything found on the Hell House tapes.
Starring: Bridget Rose Perrotta, Destiny Leilani Brown, James Liddell & Gideon Berge
So, this actually became a last minute addition to the Halloween watches just because it being released yesterday made it so it arrived just in time for this year's challenge. Why put it off, right? Considering I actually appreciated the first movie for what it was and have been hearing it may be considered an improvement for the franchise, I was curious. Yes, I haven't seen the second or third one yet but it's probably true, and since these stories are one-offs (while they clearly take place in the same universe), I figured it was okay to skip around a bit. In terms of acting and visuals and things of that sort, it is a bit of an improvement from at least the original because they kept that cast tight enough that we can focus on who's who more. Now with it being filmed the way it is, it does lose some of that rawness from the original but it's just more visually pleasing to watch so I can't really complain to be honest. It's still found footage so format-wise it's gonna be a mixed bag for people regardless if they hate that subgenre. lol Like I said, the acting and chemistry within the group is better but I wouldn't say that makes it any less frustrating when you see the characters make poor decisions. Bridget Rose Perrotta brings a lot of energy to her role as Margot, which I commend her for, but sometimes in the beginning at times I wanted to be like, can she chill out a bit? XD Not gonna lie, I was very confused how this was gonna be a prequel since it's present-day and still am but they did reference the second movie plenty so at the very least I know it was tied to something in the franchise. Love how I went from funny clowns to scarier clowns this morning but that was definitely a coincidence. The creepy vibes managed to get me again at certain parts so I gotta give the creators kudos for that. I decided to be a chicken and save this for a morning watch cuz I was counting on that. lol I think I got what I expected from this, despite any flaws, so overall, it was worth the watch in my book. I'm open to them doing another movie if that post-credits scene is any indication.

spooky tuesday is a (now not so new!) podcast where we’re breaking down all of our favorite slashers, thrillers, monster movies and black comedies on the new scariest day of the week.
it’s just generally good life advice to not commit a crime while you’re in the middle of committing a crime — and the same basic principle applies to haunted houses. if you’re putting one on, maybe consider hosting it in a place that doesn’t come with preexisting supernatural lore. unfortunately, that was a lesson that had to be learned the hard way in hell house llc (2015). a found footage-style movie, this mock doc investigates a mysterious halloween incident that claimed 15 lives. it features creepy clowns, jump scares, and one very important CLEAR reference to Twilight, so of course we’re checking it all out (or in ~ lil hotel joke for ya) on a new spooky tuesday.
give spooky tuesday a listen on apple podcasts, spotify, iheart radio, or stitcher
