[Reminiscence of Spring.]
It was spring, I was in a silent retreat at Carmel. All Nature and all men seemed to spring cheerfully from the dark and long and cold and lonely entrails of winter -
In reality, as soon as something was born (the smallest "young plant") something else would die. Most often, violently. No compromise in spring. No fog. No haze or smoke. No weary exhaustion under the duvet or under the 100F Sun.
In Spring, everything is raw, sharp, brutal. It's a question of slaloming correctly between the young plants which are so many scythes, given blindly. (It would seem.)
We have to make room, quickly, we have to make room. Anything that has survived at winter and is not needed, must go.
I'd like to die in Spring.

The houndstooth pattern can be traced back to the Bronze Age, but it really became popular for fashion in the 1930s.
