Honestly, the most unforgivable thing Gwen does to Miles in Across the Spiderverse is open up his still in the box mint condition action figure. Seriously though STOP buying vintage, still in the box, toys and opening them up! I promise you that you can find mint condition, out of the package, toys that still have all their accessories if you really want one to display out of the box.

@clarasuro knows me very well and got me a starter set for a discontinued Marvel tabletop game that comes with action figures! This is a very good gift, because it combines my three primary interests; superheroes, action figures, and baffling pop culture detritus from the early to mid 2000s
More pics under the cut
this is nnormally the sort of thing that I'd be tempted to leave in the box, but it was so badly discolored that I threw it out after I took these pictures
The figures themselves are still in good shape! I did manage to pull both of Spidey's arms off while taking him out, but luckily they snapped right back on. I wonder if the joints have weakened with age or if that was always an issue with these toys
Thing's hand opens and closes! I don't think I've ever had a figure that could do that!
Overall these guys have a really impressive amount of articulation and detail, especially for toys from 2005. They're genuinely nice figures.
Here they are on their stands, which have attack and damage points (I think). They remind me of HeroClix. I never bothered to learn the rules to HeroClix so I can't say how similar the game is mechanically, but I'm guessing it's similar.
I guess the range of movements is a game mechanic? That's kind of neat
Here's some power cards. These are legit cool looking! I'm going to put them in my card binder
Here's the "location" and "plot twist" cards. Who knows what that means in the context of the game. I think they're neat looking though. Shame these ones won't fit in the binder.
Anyway I think that's everything there is to see with this set. There's also dice and little projectile guns for the figures, but they're not very interesting. Would love to hear from anyone who knows anything about this game! Maybe it's secretly super fun and has an active scene (but I sort of doubt it haha). Either way, I'm mostly just happy to have these neat little figures.

being autistic and a collector is so silly sometimes bc idc about value they’re my friends. $125 vintage collectors edition spider-man + mary jane dolls and 25 cent goodwill spider-man that’s missing a finger? equal emotional attachment. 1972 spider-man doll that would be worth hundreds in box? that’s my best friend and he comes to therapy with me. it’s less toy collection and more arsenal of comfort items
