This was one of those images that was random but it spoke to what I was feeling on the day I was shooting it. I knew I wanted to start doing my self portraits again and I had just gotten a new dress for an event and I wanted to shoot in it. But then the pose wasn’t working, my idea wasn’t translating. I nearly fell of my chair multiple times. I was getting really frustrated and hot and sweaty. So I just sat on the floor and did whatever else just to get some photos and this was one of them. I usually shoot on a self timer and I have my phone so I can see what the image looks like. But I just threw my phone after pressing the button. And it worked. It got what I was feeling in that moment. I love elaborate photos but sometimes the simplest is the best for me. Because it is telling exactly what was happening in that moment. 🚙 Renault Vivasix During our underground wanderings it happens that we meet strange skeletons. The rust having taken care to strip them for a long time, we guess these voluptuous forms, coming from another time. The imposing 6-cylinder engine giving way to a gaping mouth, the light coming out of all these ventilation grids lets us imagine som guardian of the depths. One of my favorite things about modeling is the body’s ability to express. We as a society tend to put so much weight on bodies; how they look, how they are shaped, how strong they are. We get so caught up in focusing on how they are supposed to appear that we forget the simple beauty in the gift it is to have the perfect vessel to touch, sense, and express life. To interact so intimately with the world around us and to have a form that can reflect inward expressions back out into the world.
