please share ur hcs about the au it sounds cool
okay okay so . this kinda pertains to their s1 characters but is more their characters in general
sososo. modern au. jimmy is a believer in the supernatural and has had some funky paranormal experiences throughout his life that kickstarted him into searching for whether or not ghosts are real as a side hobby. now. he’s a couple of years into uni and has moved into a new dormitory for the year along with a new roommate. enter stage right, joel
joel is a nonbeliever. lizzie, his girlfriend, is more of the witchy type and is religious, while he’s a total atheist. he’s very respectful towards lizzie and her religion, but personally likes to fuck around with making ghosts and deities prove they’re real. he and jimmy end up watching a few youtube episodes of some obviously played up ghost hunting show on the telly late one night and start discussing it
decide that you know what, they’ll get together some ghost hunting equipment (which joel firmly argues is all hooey) and start their own little youtube channel where they investigate haunted places around england. to their surprise, the channel major takes off
and so they end up making a part-time job out of it, going to all these locations. joel ignores the existence of any evidence and yells at every ghoulish thing in the world to come kill him. jimmy drags him away by the collar while trying to not have a panic attack. over the course of the show and their being general roommates they get super close and comfortable with each other
and basically i’m thinking it would be anthology-type episodes/comics tracking their individual visits to each location and their life outside of it and how it all starts to tie into each other
misc. points of interest:
jimmy and lizzie don’t meet for quite a while. when they do, all three of them make jokes about how similar those two look. eventually, though, jimmy and lizzie do take a dna test and find out they are in fact biological siblings
jimmy and joel’s least favourite location they’ve done is pendle hill in lancashire county. jimmy caught a full-bodied apparition in multiple photos standing next to joel and freaked the fuck out
jimmy has gradually been getting braver and more reckless over time. joel is incredibly proud of him
they go get fish and chips after every shoot
they continue the channel and this career after both of them graduate uni
the rest of the empires cast and some of the life series cast are also featured in various ways
related to the previous point, supernatural beings DO in fact exist in the au and it’s a hell of a time when they find this out
