I’m a jonsa but I have to say one of my favorite scenes in GoT was Dany emerging from the fire in vaes dothrak and everyone bowing to her. I know people have issues with that scene but I don’t know. There was something about watching big men bowing to a tiny woman that resonated with me. As a woman it was such a big power play.
I don’t share your feelings on this, anon.
I can’t overstate how badly D&D’s Dany-centric view her story mangled the conversation it should have inspired. I think audiences should ask themselves if it it’s a good thing to admire someone who subjugates people through violence/threats of death, rather than recognize such a scene as a foil to say, the Northerners rising to their feet, to declare someone they chose as their leader?
I get that the scene seemed like female empowerment, but I truly don’t think we’re meant to end analysis at that instead of asking if we’re meant to support conquest for the sake of power/a crown? Perhaps if Dany hadn’t been happy to allow others to suffer (rape, slavery) as part of her war campaign it would have felt good, but as it was, she was engaging in the same behaviors that made us condemn others, so it’s hard to see her actions as a victory for women. It was a victory for her, sure. But did she better the situation for anyone else? Even her bid to end slavery is marked by a) her own use of forced, unpaid labor, b) her making money off of the slave trade ie she is what she claims to despise.
I suppose that’s all more clearly presented in the books, but since the endgoal of her actions was self-empowerment, not a netgood for others, I can't find it inspiring. The backdrop of this is Dany accepting the Targ view of everything, her entitlement to Westeros, her belief in blood superiority...it all becomes very icky to me. And that’s not even getting into everything fans and reviewers have noted about the racism in the writing of Dany’s storyline with the Dothraki.
Also, if we step away from GoT for a moment, generally, in a movie/show when someone comes into a holy site and destroys it, the audience is meant to view this as a desecration and the invader with horror. It’s a sign that they do not understand or respect the culture of the people, and if they do not, how can they be a good leader to them? They can’t. They will oppress them. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen it done in a way to indicate something good about the person who has no understanding or respect for the conquered or their way of life? So, I’d argue that this is something D&D took and carelessly stripped of all it’s layers in order to seduce fans into supporting Dany until the very end. I do understand why it seems empowering if we don’t think about it too much, but ultimately, I believe we were meant to respect the person who goes in and does the hard, thankless, totally unglamorous work of caring for their people’s essential needs and survival, not the person who can force subjugation through threats/violence.
It was disingenuous for D&D to say "needless wars and burning people alive here is good, but when she does it this time it's bad," and I think Martin has a much more basic, consistent thought that is, "warmongering and killing people in incredibly cruel ways isn’t the answer.” I understand why that is not as emotionally thrilling, but he seems very anti violence to me and very into the idea of peaceful compromise, even if at times, it means slow, painful progress.

Working on the upcoming chapter of «Empress of the World»
If you want to know what happens between Domeric and Jon... I gotchu, but most importantly if you were holding out for some dragon riding moment and more Jonsa content...I gotchu, I really gotchu.
Sansa shivers then stops resisting Jaehaerys’ hand as he slowly brings it to rise, perpendicular to their bodies “Slowly, now” he coos “slow” this time the command is not meant for her, but for the dragon and suddenly Sansa’s hand comes in contact with the scales. The tone of his voice is flat but rousing, soft and commanding altogether.
Stirring.
They’re not furnace hot, from the studies she’s made during Jaehaerys’ campaign, she knows the burn hotter on their belly — where the firing breath is produced — and closer to the centre of their body, where they stoke their eggs before depositing them, while to their limbs they are heated but not as hot as furnaces as on their belly, their back is the second hottest place for them but the scales as sturdy and resistant enough that it would take days on dragon back to cause burning of a violent degree on the riders, especially since the valyrians have implemented saddles made with wyverns and chimeras pelt to stave off the heat and the whole of valyrian clothes for riders are made of the same heat-resistant fabric. The valyrians then, some more some less, have an incredible resistance to fire — a resistance brought to extremes by Jaehaerys and Daenerys who are told to be able to exit fires unscathed. The scales are slippery and dry at the same time, they are heated but they have the same texture of the scales of the fishes she would let tickle her feet in the pond underneath the Heart Tree in Winterfell so it reminds her of coldness of the fishes underneath the water.
(...)
She sends a soft prayer to her Gods and Jaehaerys chuckle is dark as he unclasps his cloak and attaches it to one of the spikes of the dragon’s spine. Maelys doesn’t move, not even to accomodate Jaehaerys who mutters something in valyrian Sansa does not bother to translate.
It sounds indulgent though.
The cloak is made of that very same fabric and since Jaehaerys supposedly means to ride saddle-less it’s the next best thing to avoid Sansa gets easily burned. He takes her by her hand and by her waist guiding her further in the space of the dragon; Maelys shifts and offers his shoulder, Jaehaerys climbs up then he offers her his hand to hoist her up. It’s difficult, or so it seems to Sansa, as she holds her skirts and veil over one arm and tries to climb on the dragon’s shoulder without harming him in any way, which would send her flying away from his back.
Jaehaerys grins at her, unrepentant (...)
Stay tuned, this update of Empress of the World should be up at the latest by tomorrow!

The Marks of Running Ink pt.89
The Walking Dead [Soulmate AU]
Pairing: Negan x Tory Miller (ofc)
Summary: Peace had a way to be boring and exciting at once, for Tory Miller, it was lonely until it was not. Her life was about taking it slow, one day at a time.
Warnings: SLOW BURN, angst, swearing, death, violence, fluff, hurt/comfort, child endangerment, general trauma, drama, mentions of infidelity and polygamy, general lack or morals, mentions of nudity, graphic sexual scenes (nsfw), mentions of blood, apocalyptic world. As always, I don’t want to give the story away in the tags, read at your own risk.
Author’s note: If you haven't read chapter 88, you should, I'm updating the last three chapters at once. This is the official ending of The Marks of Running Ink, but a short epilogue comes after with major warnings. Thank you so much for being here.

Peace
Alexandria, VA.
She was waiting for him outside the cell.
A little, wry smile on her lips as she set her eyes on him.
"Hey, old man," she greeted him.
"I'm your father's age, Tory."
"And I call him old too."
He chuckled and she did too.
"What now?"
She made a gesture for him to follow.
"We go home."
Negan had not been or felt at home in so many years. He'd lost the people he considered home, over and over, but now he was being offered another chance, probably the last one. The summer breeze was kind, fall would come soon enough, considering the color of the leaves.
"There will be rules, Negan, important rules to follow," Victoria told him as they walked. He was in no hurry, and she didn't seem to be in a hurry either. "I have a child."
He stopped, frozen, right in the middle of the street, his feet glued to the dusty asphalt.
"A child?"
Tory looked at him and nodded.
"You said that you and the good doc–"
"She isn't Rhodes' kid," his soulmate interrupted.
He blinked, feeling like a fool as he did, watching Victoria as she looked at him.
"Her name is Ella," his soulmate said. "Ella Henry Jones."
"You gave a girl a boy's name?" He asked, not hating it.
"I thought I would die, you know? No epidurals at the end of the world, Negan. Lots of blood, I was stupidly scared."
He laughed and was finally able to move again.

Peace
Alexandria, VA.
The children were running free again.
Tory smiled and sat down on the steps, on the spot that she was wearing down after almost a decade… Even when her Dad was alive, Tory had sat down on the same spot. God, some things never changed.
“Mama!” her eyes turned up from the book she had on her lap. Ella had come up all the way to the bottom of the stairs, her tiny hands were full of tomatoes.
Again.
“Did you raid another garden, Peanut?” she asked, wondering who she’d have to apologize to later in the day or in the morning.
“No, mama, Vera!”
Ah.
“Aunt Vera, Peanut,” she told her daughter, knowing her words would fall in tiny, deaf ears.
Her daughter nodded with a radiant toothy smile that was eerily similar to her father’s smile, making Tory’s heart ache. Standing up, she set her book down and went to her little girl’s side.
“Should we make some tomato sauce, Peanut?” she asked her little girl, knowing she wouldn’t say no. Tory had been planning on making sauce for a few days now, she had been gathering the jars to boil and the spices to use. She had Carol’s homemade pasta recipe too.
“Yes!” the tomatoes fell from her hands and Tory sighed. “Are we gonna give some to Luc and Martha?”
“Yeah, Peanut, we will.” Good Lord, she needed to break Ella’s habit of calling the adults by their given names, then again, she didn’t have much interaction with the children in Alexandria, who weren’t many either, despite Vera and Chase moving to Alexandria after the whole Whisperers debacle.
“Come on, Ella, let’s get these tomatoes crushed.”
At times, Tory missed Gabriel and the sort of camaraderie they had formed when he had lived under her roof. They would never see eye to eye in certain things, but they were friends, even if not the best of friends.
"Mama, are you going to tell me about Papa again?"
She chuckled at her little girl and nodded.
"Of course, Peanut. He was the biggest jerk I ever met."
Her little girl giggled at her words and Tory smiled, knowing she would get that reaction no matter what. Sometimes, Tory dreamed of a different outcome, she dreamed of a different life. She wondered the what ifs of a life where the dead never rose.
Maybe one day, she would grow out of it.
"That's a bad word, Mama."
"It is, but the word I was thinking about is worse, Ellie."

All for you, every time
Joanna Lannister knew things.
She liked knowing things, as did all of her siblings, they were like that -according to her father- thanks to their mother.
She had certainties and one of them was that she was in love.
There was absolutely no way she'd ever reveal such feelings. Absolutely not.

One Fine Autumn - a Jonsa story
Summary: Jon runs into Sansa after she moves back into town. They had a bit of a history together and Jon wonders if they could be more than friends again. An autumn-related fluffy story that was previously meant for a Jonsa Autumn Drabbles week. Inspired by Cardigan by Taylor Swift.
So I had wanted to participate in a Jonsa Autumn Drabbles week last month but life took over and there was no way for me to actually get to writing the drabbles I wanted to do in time. I finally got some free time and found myself regretting not writing them. So I decided to create a story with each chapter representing a daily prompt from the themed event. I hope you enjoy it!
Chapter 1 - Coffee Shop
"Jon!"
His breath hitched in his throat at the sound of his name. The melodic voice that called it was a familiar one, even though he hadn't heard it in a few years. Wading through the coffee shop customers as they also waited for their drinks, Jon made his way to the pick-up counter.
And there she was, standing there with her gorgeous red hair and shining blue eyes. Sansa didn't seem surprised to see him; she wore an easy, yet sheepish, smile.
"Sansa?" Jon managed to croak.
"Hi, Jon."
"How - How are you?" It was all he could manage to get out.
"I'm doing well. But we're pretty slammed back here and I need to finish getting the next few drinks out. My shift ends in fifteen minutes. Would you mind sticking around until then? We could catch up a little?" Her voice was sweet and her eyes unsure of his answer.
"Sure. I'll just find a seat," Jon replied, still trying to catch his bearings.
"Okay!" Her relief was obvious.
After the cut, links to all the chapters since I’m having some issues with the linking the whole story in the first chapter right now...
Chapter 1 - Coffee Shop
Chapter 2 - A Pumpkin Tradition
Chapter 3 - A Day in Nature
Chapter 4 - Halloween Sweets
Chapter 5 - Firelight
Chapter 6 - Keeping Warm
