Hope you all had a solid, productive & educational #Juneteenth & #blackmusicmonth New official American Holiday but alot of Black people been celebrating because like alot of our culture that others dont understand bern erased, supressed, told wrong.Truth passed down through Generations of Black families/historians. Alot of people dont quite know the meaning & importance or dont care.Facts; - Enslaved Africans names are not "THE SLAVES" They were taken from African brought many places not just America but #chattleslavery was worst form, longest running most inhumane example, genocide. Stop addressing as "the Slaves" They had names , families, cultures, religions , languages ! Revisionist history named our Ancestors "The Slaves" - Black people in America are not all decendants of enslaved Africans. Many came from certain regions of Africa, some didnt survive #slaveships thru #middlepassage. 1st came to ports of South Carolina. Ive been to these ports while on music tours performing near where kkk rallys & confederate flags are proudly celebrated. Theres still alot of emotional trauma/baggage passed down In the south and in our famililies who migrated west during Great migration "out of 400 years of slavery" Still recovering from extended violence, racial laws, attitudes, jim crow, segregation, redlining, prison system, discrimination post slavery - Lincoln gets credit for freeing enslaved africans but was not totally for it. Much was polical reasons. #Slavery made America rich. While exploiting Blacks and making us poor for generations. When #emancipationproclamation passed took months for u.s gov to reach southern states by horse some reached during week of june in teens 13th,14th,15th,16th ,17th, 18th, 19th the exact day is different for each region However slavery and black oppression was far from over and continues to this day. We share some of Black experience that results from sad #AmericanHistory in @DLabrie Short Film 🎶📹 #StayBlackAndDie #LinkinBio #DLabrie #MrNETW3RK #RonDavouxRecords #happyjuneteenth #juneteenth #juneteenthcelebration #juneteenth2022 #BlackHistory #BlackMusic #BlackPower #BlackPride #BlackLove #BlackandProud #imblackandimproud (at United States of America) https://www.instagram.com/p/CfWC-9YvTay/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

ohh nvm i read that anon's ask wrong. i thought they meant that they don't let him BE in any other projects that aren't from hbo. my bad, hah.
No problem! But after that ask someone told me that he’s actually not allowed to do any contracted projects other than hbo therefore his ifc deal didn’t get a renewal. I don’t know, this is so boring to me but someone said the same thing about nicholas braun so this is basically slaveship shdjdjjdj

“Where is your fire? I say where is your fire? Can’t you smell it coming out of our past? The fire of living…not dying. The fire of loving…not killing. The fire of Blackness…not gangster shadows. Where is our beautiful fire that gave light to the world? The fire of pyramids; The fire that burned through the holes of slaveships and made us breathe; The fire that made guts into chitterlings; The fire that took rhythms and made jazz; The fire of sit-ins and marches that made us jump boundaries and barriers; The fire that took street talk sounds and made righteous imhotep raps. Where is your fire, the torch of life full of Nzingha and Nat Turner and Garvey and DuBois and Fannie Lou Hamer and Martin and Malcolm and Mandela.”

🔻🔺🔻 AdvLit writer, trans, 33, looking to play my dom-switch/top monster OC (humanoid, shapeshifter) against a sub, switch, or dom FTM, intersex, or nonbinary character. I prioritize playing against trans over cis OCs, so just a friendly heads-up on that!
Heavily descriptive NSFW/smut intended, and hoping for reciprocal talents in that area. Plot is nature-survivalist in theme, via a "lost in the wilderness", tropical shipwrecking, castaway or escaped-slaveship-cargo type deal. The character I'll be using is a draconic sea monster with a human form, but he doesn't really operate well in urban/city settings, lmao. Ubiquity of fantasy elements and general time-period are both flexible.
Basically; COME WASH UP YOUR POOR OC ON THE SHORES OF MONSTER ISLAND AND LET ME TORMENT THEM, LOL.
Romance and softer themes are super welcome, but optional! Limits can be discussed after point of contact, but in general I ask for comfortability with violence, horror, and heat/rut/breeding kink. Greatly prefer writers with robust diction and patience for busy IRL work schedules. Also looking to avoid heavily anime-inspired or real-life faceclaims. Might as well mention that I do my own art and enjoy doodling for others, too! 👍
Slap a Like on here and I'll send my discord handle over, or we can chat in tumblr DMs, if that's preferred. Cheers! 🔻🔺🔻
give a like and anon will get back to you

Sidekick Girls 3
One of the tougher and more capable female sidekicks in the Golden Age comics was Teena, the partner of The Avenger. Both characters were “space detective” crime fighters whose adventures took place in an unspecified future cosmos where the two battle various interstellar criminals, pirates, slavers and creatures bent on universal domination. Their true identities were “wealthy young aristocrat” Rod Hathaway, and his apparently gauche blonde secretary Dot Kenny. What I like about this pair is that Teena is depicted as a fully equal partner to the Avenger, and is as skilled in combat as he is, and is no more prone to peril than is Rod himself. In the first page featured here, Avenger and Teena thwart and capture a cosmic bandit known as Gargoyle, who Teena, perhaps a little cruelly, promises will face the “electronic slab” (a futuristic version of the electric chair) while she handcuffs him.
In the second page featured our intrepid duo pose as slaves in order to infiltrate an inter planetary slaving ring run by a particularly unpleasant villain known as Maag and succeed in turning the tables on him. His asteroid of slavers is left to run out of food and water while the space detectives take the subdued Maag as a prisoner to the Interplanetary Patrol to face justice. Once again Teena is good with the trash talk, rubbing it in with Maag, while the criminal looks suitably irritated and fed up. With its modern sensibilities, this title anticipates Buck Rogers and Wilma Deering by thirty years and should, in a fair world, be an excellent candidate for a 2020s reboot.
Tumblr media
The Avenger and Teena had a four issue run in Space Detective comics in 1951, with each issue featuring three parts of a continuous story. The title was written by Warren Kremer and illustrated by Wally Wood and Joe Orlando.
The first page is from Slaveship of Saturn, Space Detective #2 (November 1951); the second page is from Trail to the Asteroid Hideout; Space Detective #1 (July 1951).

Catch the Fire
(Sometimes I wonder:
What to say to you now
in the soft afternoon air as you
hold us all in a single death?)
I say—
Where is your fire?
I say—
Where is your fire?
You got to find it and pass it on.
You got to find it and pass it on
from you to me from me to her from her
to him from the son to the father from the
brother to the sister from the daughter to
the mother from the mother to the child.
Where is your fire? I say where is your fire?
Can’t you smell it coming out of our past?
The fire of living…not dying
The fire of loving…not killing
The fire of Blackness…not gangster shadows.
Where is our beautiful fire that gave light
to the world?
The fire of pyramids;
The fire that burned through the holes of
slaveships and made us breathe;
The fire that made guts into chitterlings;
The fire that took rhythms and made jazz;
The fire of sit-ins and marches that made
us jump boundaries and barriers;
The fire that took street talk sounds
and made righteous imhotep raps.
Where is your fire, the torch of life
full of Nzingha and Nat Turner and Garvey
and DuBois and Fannie Lou Hamer and Martin
and Malcolm and Mandela.
Sister/Sistah Brother/Brotha Come/Come
CATCH YOUR FIRE…DON’T KILL
HOLD YOUR FIRE…DON’T KILL
LEARN YOUR FIRE…DON’T KILL
BE THE FIRE…DON’T KILL
Catch the fire and burn with eyes
that see our souls:
WALKING.
SINGING.
BUILDING.
LAUGHING.
LEARNING.
LOVING.
TEACHING.
BEING.
Hey. Brother/Brotha. Sister/Sista.
Here is my hand.
Catch the fire…and live.
live.
livelivelive.
livelivelive.
live.
live.

The work of Jamaican Artist Jasmine Thomas Girvan in her own words
It has been a joy to participate in The World Reimagined, a groundbreaking art education project launched in 8 cities across the UK. The focus of the project is to transform how we understand the Transatlantic slave Trade and its impact on all of us.
                   .....................................................................
The World Reimagined - Mother Africa.Beyond Time and Space.
One of the main motifs on the Globe is a replica of an Akan gold weight. It shows people on a boat traversing the vast ocean.
This celebrates the insight of Ivan Van Sertima that Africans traveled across the oceans arriving in the Americas long before they were transported on Slaveships.'They came before Columbus'  outlines these extraordinary voyages.
As engineers of possibility, Africans evolved their own advanced guidance systems to endure and survive treacherous crossings. This was a dialogue with the stars but more importantly supported by 'constallational thinking' central to African cosmology and life. Anansi,  the spiderman - Akan God of stories, Wisdom and knowledge and a central figure in West African folktales not only survived the voyage but consolidated African cosmology in the daily lives of Africans in the New World in our oral traditions. Anansi's domain - the spiders Web has a complex and mysterious design that has exceptional strength and flexibility. It is stronger than steel, almost invisible yet can survive winds that exceed hurricane strength.
The psyche of Africans who survived the Transatlantic slave Trade like the spiderweb is resilient and indestructible. Like the strands of the spider's Web, it is made up of infinite diaphanous strands of Ancestral frequencies. I believe that our resilience and identity continue to be nourished by this ancient wisdom. It reverberates in our music, spiritual practices, food, architecture  and every imaginable facet of life.

[ bruises ]   -   for an injury to suddenly appear on my muse because your muse was injured.
(muses of your choice)
The Dane lifted his hand to the scrape of the Irshman's cheek. "I am sorry." He whispered. It were words he had promised himself never to say again after leaving Dunholm. He'd said them too much to his father and his brother.
He most certainly hadn't said them to Uhtred when he'd been cuffed around the face for not answering their Lord quickly enough. The slaveship had obvious ran Uhtred raw, but Sihtric had hoped his Lord would not act like his father. But it seemed the Gods did not favour him that much.
The attack on Dunholm was imminent and the tension ran high, but all Sihtric could think of was the scrape on Finan's face that matched his own. He had to avoid getting hurt from now on, in order to not cause Finan more harm.

“The black experience has made Christianity a greater shackle than the slaves knew in the slaveship. Christianity is the perpetual shackle that rapes the black mind. But from slavery forward the systematic, psychological programming of the black mind was very clever, very smart, and it has been very destructive––and destructive is an understatement. Numerically there were more blacks in most southern states than whites, so one of the first things that had to be done was to capture and control the mind. To my knowledge not one black person came here a Christian. They had to, now, give blacks a new concept: that your God is white, your master’s white, and you really don’t count, and if you don’t like it here, just wait for heaven. It was forced Christianity, which meant they beat the shit out of you until you went to church. The Christian church was the first segregated institution in America. The white slave owner sat upstairs in the church and the slaves sat downstairs....
The first authority figure in a child’s life is the mother. She reinforces the submission, drags the child to the Christian slave church, and from that point on it is firmly entrenched....
I ask my friends why they believe in God, and they say, “I believe because I believe.” I ask,  “Who taught you?” They say, “My mother.” I ask, “Well who taught her?” They cannot accept that originally it was the slavemaster. They just wipe that part out. So now you have a whole race of people bogged down in religion. Now, you have to have a lieutenant. The white slavemaster couldn't control all those slaves effectively, so we got the black clergyman–the lieutenant of racism....
Generation after generation it continued, and by now, for women in my age bracket it is inconceivable that there’s no white Jesus Christ. On Sunday mornings you have millions of dollars going into the pockets of this exclusive group of black clergy who live like kings. And you are so programmed that you cannot think beyond, “Massa is gonna provide.” Everything must come from this white benevolent person–even Santa Claus!”...

V:
when tarnishing my name,
to destroy & conquer/
you wasn’t excluded
you was front row the fire starter/
my heart is such a martyr,
forever personal & bothered/
I’m so sensitive
Impatient with load screens when I start to bombing/
King to those prince charmings,
Very alarming & tactical/
These hands work
Open chest
HADYUKEN!
mildly practically,
This verbiage is so magical/
Hands dripping of platinum,
Eating the metronome fruit of a unicorn/
Holograms of a fruitful love,
One could imagine then filled with scorn/
The war on depression is self inflicted porn,
& within the moment I was born
I realized love would have me torn/
Spaced between two pivots,
Decipher every matrix to the digits/
This mind exquisite,
Never playing victim when ILLN is the only mission/
Of course when God tells me to listen,
I hear the devil & remix the vision/
mmm it’s spooky how I get impeccable with this shit,
It’s like watching for 3 years then caging to friendship/
Shackled to exist amongst mortals,
Floating in the sun to somewhere I didn’t want/
That’s a slaveship
