listen there's no way I'm going to be able to narrow it down to just five that are uniquely Better than the others, so here are just. five I really really liked lmao

The Book Thief (Markus Zusak) was ruinously tender and made me cry on an airplane (my favorite kind of book to bring along on an airplane)

Blue-Skinned Gods (SJ Sindu) is just a bangin' novel, the kind that's endlessly readable and hard to put down. I'm ashamed that I still haven't made time to check out Sindu's other books, something I'm hoping to fix as soon as possible.

Mongrels (Stephen Graham Jones) is a gut-punch of a werewolf story, grimy and frantic all the way through. cannot recommend it enough.

How Far the Light Reaches: A Life in Ten Sea Creatures (Sabrina Imbler) is a meditative and moving collection of personal essays swirled with deep sea documentary. it really does feel like an invigorating dip into cold saltwater

Lone Women (Victor LaValle) was a shamelessly fun and surprisingly hopeful historical horror, definitely check it out!!

home. i lay my head down, shoes left where they fall. pillow over my head. it muffles the world above me. home is now at my parents, sj costa rica. a nicely done two-second house project. close to nowhere. i dont quite like this place. it doesnt resonate with me. it’s energetically expensive. bedroom is okay. floors are hardwood. white walls nothing on them. save for a small balcony table turned desk and a stupid gamer chair. i dont even play videgames anymore. dont even remember if i have or sold my ps3. theres also a handpasted mural of photos one day. mostly artists and albums i like. also their nirvana homes. it somehow keeps me going. what can i say. product of a demotivated day. theres also a prized Amsterdam car plate. prolly my favorite artifact. got it as a souvenir from a 2017 europe escape. only time i been to europe. been off the smoke couple months now. since sugar has turned into my only temptation. got one closet and more articles of clothing than i need or wear. options are meh. ive never been notably organized or tidy. good part of my clothing tends to end up around the room. but i try to keep my table desk somewhat orderly. im trying to stick to homemade meals. a nice lady named ivania comes once a week to clean the house. those days are honestly the best. ive tried to create a project studio in my room. but the mess of wires and notebooks is becoming bothersome. ive barely used it for practice or recording. though ive made a couple of beats. shared them only with jules. im also reading three books right now. sort of. you know what i mean. the one im most into is about a metaphorical take on the art of love from 1956 by eric fromm. its unbelievable how little life has changed since then. i find some peace when i put it down each night. i used to be hooked on twitter and staring at charts. now my twitter is mostly off. or i use it for gathering info for the market. which i still lose money on. its the thrill of it that keeps me tryin i guess. except when im planning to go to the beach with my brother. then i really need those weekly benjamins. or maybe im just a gambling addict at this point. damn. im impulsive as fuck. i also watch a lot of youtube these days, especially artist stories and documentaries. theyre my favorite. i dont subscribe much. but my youtube history must be a goldmine for channels. im thinking of switching to offline stuff maybe. like magazines. i should check out a newsstand. been exploring old muse too. digging those good ol times & artists that id never heard before. those have been my wisest listens this summer fs. definitely smarter than my trading habits. and those old love deluxe and classic movies AhH. they might just help me find that one perfect sample someday. a house to go with it would be nice. no kidding. ill go and do my meditation tapes now. maybe i won’t wake up till night. or maybe sooner. either way. ill pray and dream. yk. escape reality for a while.

It's been really disappointing to see Tae not getting the opportunities as the other members. Hyung line has had a lot of years behind them making their own music so I won't compare to them but chap 2 was new grounds for the maknae line. Both JK and J got to promote in US and UK heavily. J got so many collaborations and it seems now he will be releasing something with Ryan tedder from One republic who has worked with many big artists. Jk also got songs from all hit making record producers and writers and did the world cup song. Also they both are doing documentaries. Tae got absolutely nothing if you compare.

People might say why does he need Western validation and he was promoted in Japan. Well for the very same reason that BTS decided to do all English songs and that BB no 1 that everybody likes to flaunt.

All of this increases the artist's reach beyond their core fandom and gives them visibility. Are we saying Tae did not get collab requests or vice versa from any artist? Why is his potential being limited?

Shouldn't the label also push for these collaborations? Did BH not do that for Tae? Or if people like to say that it's Tae's choice then why would he want to limit his reach? What are your thoughts on this?

If you think about it, all of the BTS members in this chap 2 got a collab (or an important collab stage like for SJ), except for Taehyung. And it’s hilarious because Taehyung has always been open about who he wants to collaborate with: Jon Batiste, Laufey, Conan Gray, Lauv, UMI, Bruno Major…

And even though some of these artists said they wanna collab with Taehyung too (Jon Batiste been teasing about it since forever, Conan Gray replied to his tweets), we never got anything… Only thing we got was some of them collabing with other members or other hybe artists lol. So I don’t think it’s about requests because he’s been getting requests since 2021, and yea sure back then he wasn’t able to accept them (remember when he said he had to sacrifice himself for the sake of the team?), but now? What’s the motive? I doubt someone who loves music so much and openly expressed his want to collab would limit himself like that.

I hope he gets the same opportunities as everyone one day.

Hello, I hope you are doing well and keeping healthy. I was wondering if you could tell me if something my friend said the other day sounds like intuition (and if so, is it Ni or Ne)?

To paraphrase, he said that anytime he watches or reads about something, he thinks about the thematic takeaway and how it relates to other things. We were watching a documentary about this tragic accident that the government tried to cover up. He started talking about how we keep seeing examples of this in institutions of power, and the lessons we as a society never seem to learn from events like what we watched in the documentary (he gave some other examples as well). He said that it’s pretty much a given that stuff like this will continue to happen because of the corruption that power entails.

I’m just wondering, does this seem like an intuitive thing? He’s basing his assumptions on historical facts, but he’s also looking at the essence of the issue, so I’m not sure what to make of it.

This sounds Si/Ne to me. It's not idealistic or visionary in terms of feeling a desperate desire to inspire or inflict change, but falls into "the same things happen over and over again" knowledge that SJs see as a baseline for reality.

This post and your answer made me think. I don't have an opinion about their PR team when it comes to this. I liked what they did for the album reveal and no idea about the rest but I do think fandom usually uses 1D or Harry as a measuring bar and Louis going indie doesn't fit that criteria. And I do agree that bbg is the kind of mess no PR tram would want to tackle if they can avoid it nor do I think Louis wants/needs more people knowing about it. Yes there would be NDAs but still.

But talking about the documentary it does feel it's something not related to BMG, just a Louis thing. Is LTHQ staffed mainly by BMG? Because they wouldn't work on the films promo and that feels like the issue here. Like this should be mainly be promoted by Louis and his people (not BMG) and it's sort of falling through the cracks. As if everyone thought it was the others responsibility. *shrugs*.

In any case, we'll see how much and what promo they want to make. Presale tickets is something only fans will want to buy and I'm not even sure the casual fan will want to go to the cinemas for it. It feels like they'd wait for streaming services.

It kind of sucks all of this but in the end we should remember that it isn't our job to promote Louis. We're here to enjoy his music and the documentary. The rest should be done by the people paid for it.

I think LTHQ is managed by Louis‘ management, Seven 7 Management (Matt Vines), so they would be in charge of the promo for documentary.

BMG‘s marketing team would be in charge of Album promo (probably in collaboration with management‘s team (?)).

Simon Jones PR is exclusively handling his PR, meaning statements, organising interviews etc. In collaboration with management and BMG, so I don’t see them having a hand in AOTV promo besides creating the press releases and coordinating interviews and articles. They are responsible for suggesting the stunts depending on what they’re trying to achieve, and Management in collaboration with SJ PR is doing the actual handling, imo.

So I agree, I think that because LTHQ (Management) is on its own for AOTV and doesn’t get more people power from the label, they’re understaffed (LinkedIn says 23 people globally and 8 in UK - don’t forget they have other clients, too) and not capable of handling the whole promo for the doc, also bc it’s a different kind of promo what they’ve done before (music, streaming, gaming).

Or maybe it’s all an elaborate plan I can’t see the goal of rn to do shitty promo lol

Thoughts on 1st ep of The Last Man Standing documentary

I kinda expected this... but im still bit disappointed. I've only seen one episode so far but im afraid the second one won't be much exploratory either. And knowing there will be only 2 episodes...

To be honest I've seen fanmade guides on yt that have more insight. Sure, i always like to hear when they reminisce about predebut and debut days, seeing some archive footage was nice too but it's not much of what I haven't seen or heard before. It's such a broad topic and there are tons of materials and you have the boys who want to talk about it, maybe say something they never did before or something they now see differently and you get only 2 hrs out of it?

And they know it too!

In my opinion every member should have at least a segment, including those who are no longer in the group or are on hiatus. And that’s just a tip of an iceberg.
