Modern Dregs AU #7
The Dregs as roommates
let’s say that the Dregs have graduated high school and as they move on to college, agree to rent apartments together in the same complex
Kaz and Inej live together
and while they get along for the most part they have their tense moments
Kaz stays up CRAZY LATE at night
he might be hacking a gaming server
he might be looking at pictures of puppies
you never know
but occasionally Inej gets up at 4 AM just to see his bedroom lights still on
“do you ever sleep?” “sleep is for the wEAK”
and yet she usually catches him passed out on the couch at noon
luckily she tries her best to stay quiet when he’s snoozing
ESPECIALLY when it comes to the microwave when she makes her morning tea
when it hits one second, she turns it off
to this day, she’s never woken him up on accident
sometimes, when Inej plays a video game (c’mon, she’s def a gamer, and a good one), Kaz will sit down to watch her and he’s always so impressed and in love with her
she’s also the only one of the group who has seen him with his glasses on
he’s never gone outside with them, even if he doesn’t have contacts in
he’d rather be blind than have Jesper try them on all day
or take them away and go
“how many fingers am I holding up?” “i dont know, but i’ll break them all if you don’t give me back my fucking glasses”
Jesper and Wylan also share an apartment and have separate rooms
but when it comes to go to sleep, they usually sleep in the same bed
Wylan likes being the Big Spoon™
and Jesper talks in his sleep
Wylan has woken up to some weeeird shit in the past
“aaron burr, you podge” “wtf jes”
sometimes it makes Wylan blush
“why, hellooo gorgeous” “why cant you say things like that when you’re AWAKE”
jk, Jesper always says nice things to Wylan
sometimes when Wylan’s vacuuming or doing dishes
Jesper will swoop in and hug him from behind, nuzzle him and shit
“adorable as always, Van Sunshine”
ofc he helps him with the chores too
they also make like three pots of coffee a day (mostly for the smell, it brightens up the place)
Nina, Matthias, and Kuwei share a third apartment with two rooms
Nina and Matt share one room, Kuwei gets the other
and thin walls do not always make it a great living situation for Kuwei
just give the kid earmuffs
and no, not for the reason you’re thinking
Nina snores like NO TOMORROW
Matt can’t even rival her
not that he minds, usually he’s just impressed
though Matt sometimes hogs the blankets
once Nina tried to rip them away from him
and he was so wrapped up in them that instead of freeing the blankets off of him
it just sent him rolling off the side of the bed onto the floor
*thud* “OH MY GOD, MATTY, ARE YOU OK” *wheezing noises*
Matthias is the kinda guy that lives by “early bird gets the worm”
Nina and Kuwei, well, not so much
luckily for Matt, he doesn’t have to be super quiet since both of them are very deep sleepers
Kuwei probably wouldn’t wake up if the fire alarm started screeching
*beep, beep* “shut the hell up”
Kuwei also hogs the shower in the morning and uses up the hot water, so Nina gets to freeze in the morning (Matthias takes his shower before the others because his crazy ass gets up at 5 AM)
other living arrangements have been made in the past
Nina and Inej used to live together
the only issue they faced was cooking
Inej is good at some things (like pasta and veggies) but beyond that, she’s hopeless
Nina straight up would set the kitchen on fire
during this time, Kaz and Jesper were roommates for like a month
they also had thin walls, so Jesper talking in his sleep always sent Kaz into fits of laughter, thus waking up Jesper
“dude, i was asleep” “and trying to seduce wylan, too, or so it sounded like”
Jesper would pull pranks on Kaz to get back at him
the favorite of the group was post-it notes on EVERY SURFACE IN KAZ’S ROOM
just walked in and BOOM

EVEN HIS BED AND DRESSER
needless to say, Kaz nearly throttled him
they will never live together again

The Dregs on social media
they all have an instagram and fuck facebook
Nina uses all other forms of social media: twitter, instagram, tumblr, youtube, snapchat
she has SO MANY followers and subscribers
she does vlogs once a week, like “Get Ready With Me” and social activism and all the funny stories of her life
she always has a guest with her, but it mostly ends up being Matthias
the makeup challenge videos always have the most views
“what the FUCK is this thing” “that’s an eyelash curler, matty” “it looks like a torture device for Tinkerbell”
Matthias insta is FULL of pictures of Nina
pictures of her doing her makeup
pictures of her making ugly faces
either way, he captions, “beautiful little red bird”
the only other thing he ever uses is snapchat
his story is literally just videos of his dogs
no selfies
no details of his adventures
just his puppers snoozing or wrestling or biting his hands (the little one especially)
and you can hear him giggling in the background and Nina loves it
“you sound so cute when you laugh like that” “shit, i forgot to turn off the sound”
Wylan is mostly active on Tumblr
he runs an art blog full of fanart and little animations and he’s SO TALENTED so people go batshit crazy over his work

in other words, Kaz hacks into his account occasionally and deletes all the hate in his inbox (if any, how can anyone hate Wylan, he’s so sweet to his followers)
sure, Kaz Brekker doesn’t have Emotions™ until it comes to his adopted son
as for Kaz, he’s mostly active just for Jesper’s sake
Jesper tags him in almost EVERYTHING because they’re always hanging out and doing shit

she has one with little Christmas-esque lights suspended over her bed

Modern Dregs AU #1
The Dregs playing Mario Kart 8
occasionally the gang gets together in front of the TV (usually at Jesper’s)
since only four can play, everyone takes turns
Wylan never gives up his controller
every time someone is hit with a shell, someone ironically yells, “GET BREKKED”
totally not Kaz ofc
but he always manages to get the Spiny Shells™?? And somehow always manages to target Jesper??
Jesper would happily throttle Dirtyhands with his controller if he weren’t trying to escape 11th place
Jesper sucks at MK, btw
bloopers are Inej’s shit, she saves them until the end of races to scrape by with at least 3rd (if not 2nd)
she and Kaz are always on each other’s tails
Kaz attacks her with fire flowers and she always times the bloopers just right to pass him up
sometimes it makes him mad, sometimes he’s impressed with his Wraith
either way, Inej loves it when he gets all flustered
“it’s ok, Kaz, maybe next time” “how much do you bet on those odds?”
the worst luck award goes to Nina since the only items in her inventory are fucking bananas
and when she throws them she’s the one who slips on them
“wow, zenik, your luck hasn’t been too ripe, has it?“ “shove a sock in it, brekker”
she also loves the little flower glider and no one else is allowed to use it
otherwise Kuwei uses it when she’s not playing her turn that round
Matthias is a motorcycle junkie in MK
once he and Kaz chose the same vehicle
“well, one of us has to change”
guess? who? had? to? switch?
poor Matty
Jesper always chooses Waluigi to play and Wylan HATES IT
especially because Jesper just sometimes fucking shrieks:
“WAAHHHH” “goddamnit Jes”
this pisses Colm off in particular (remember, they’re at the Faheys’) and Wylan always threatens, “i’ll tell your da” “no you w-” “MR. FAHEY, YOUR SON IS A PODGE”
when they unlock Metal Mario, Kaz is the first to nab him every. single. time.
Wylan is the same way with Link
Matthias is Bowser bc why not
Nina chooses Rosalina bc she’s fab
Inej usually picks Yoshi but occasionally goes for Shy Guy
Kuwei is NEVER consistent with his characters or vehicles (he wants metal mario but you-know-who aint giving that shit up without a fight)
but it doesn’t really matter in the end, Kuwei half-asses the races most of the time
he just likes observing the others
really he’d prefer to sit in the back eating popcorn and sipping soda through a straw while viewing the carnage that is Kaz v Inej
Matthias always gets the items of mega destruction: bob-ombs, bullet bills, and the cursed Red Shells™
and he’s relentless af with them
he especially likes throwing Kaz off course
the red shells are a thing with the group too
whenever one comes up, someone shouts “RED SHELL” but it’s already too late
but there’s one little bastard that always grabs 1st
that’s right
Wylan fucking Van Eck aka VAN WRECK
sometimes he wins by a hair, sometimes its by… well more than a hair
a lot more
Kuwei boos him a lot
and ofc when everyone else is done Wylan is the only one going, “c’mon, one more round!!” “wy, no” “but you still haven’t beat me”
that line always gets them running back
still, no one’s defeated Van Wreck yet

The Dregs and music
so the dregs all have specific music tastes that often clash with each other in the worst ways and boy, do they give each other a bunch of shit
let’s start with Kuwei
he’s the kind to dance to any kind of music
hip hop? he jump. metal? he head-bang. dubstep? batshit crazy.
he’ll listen to anything though he claims hardcore gangster rap is his favorite
Kuwei trying to be Edgy™ 2k17
Nina sees right through it
“name one other song besides ‘Straight Outta Compton’ and I might believe you for five seconds” “…’Thrift Shop’?” “………..boi”
Nina meanwhile is definitely one to follow the pop radio station
she’ll be into a popular song for weeks, listening to it over and over and over again until the whole gang gets sick of it
she still sings Uptown Funk, much to Matty’s dismay
“I’M TOO HOT” “please, stop” “CALL THE POLICE AND THE FIREMAN” “NINA, YOU CAN’T POSSIBLY STILL BE INTO THAT SONG” “DON’T BELIEVE ME JUST WATCH”
but oh man, does Matty get his revenge
he goes from being a metalhead to country-lover in 0.000000000002 seconds
one minute it’s Metallica
the next it’s Johnny Cash
Nina doesn’t know if she hates “Enter Sandman” or “Hurt” more
and when he drops her off somewhere he’ll bLAST THE MUSIC SO LOUD TO (lovingly) EMBARRASS HER
“MATT, ARE YOU KIDDING ME” “HAVE A GOOD DAY, LITTLE RED BIRD” *heavy metal screaming*
the only person that tolerates Matthias’ strange taste in music is probably Jesper
Jesper, like Kuwei, is also one who samples from every single genre imaginable
though he ironically listens to a bunch of classic rock songs and lip-syncs them for Wylan’s amusement
“Eye of the Tiger” has been his most iconic hit yet
he’ll also sing the party anthems with Nina (y’know, the songs they play at school dances)
once again, Matthias and Wylan are scarred for life when Nina and Jesper break into Gas Pedal at full fucking volume
Wylan, ofc, is the biggest music lover
classical music is his favorite while he’s working on a new drawing or painting
or driving
so when he’s having a bout of road rage in his mom’s minivan (IT RETURNS), it’s a very interesting scenario when he sticks the finger out the window while blasting Canon in D Major
(wylan, you’re not kaz, quit being so extra)
SPEAKING OF
Kaz is one of those who listens to the Holy Emo Trinity

Jesper gives him so much shit for it

(jk, Jordie tried to get him out of his room for WEEKS)
“it was just a band” “i’m having a midlife crisis, leave me alone” “you’re such a drama queen”
then there’s Inej, who has a specific playlist she falls back on every time the new music just doesn’t set well with her
some of the songs include “Shake It Out” and “Iris”
y’know, the songs that can make you cry because they’re just so powerful
she’ll dance along to them, all flowy and precise movements
one time, Nina barged into her room excited about something and scared Inej so badly she fell (!!!!) to the floor
“HOLY SHIT, INEJ, I’M SO SORRY” *wheezes* “it’s cool”
now Inej requires everyone to knock on her door before letting them enter
she’s also the only one who can convince Kaz to listen to something outside of his typical preferences
almost all of her suggestions end up downloaded onto his phone under a playlist titled Inej
shhhhhhhhhhh don’t tell her
(for the record, this is MY headcanon, so if you disagree, that’s fine by me, but don’t tell me how wrong I am, I simply do not have the energy for silly discourse)

I’ve been working on this thing for two weeks. Two. Weeks. I AM TIRED.
Anyways, as y’all know, I’ve been doing drabbles of the Modern!Dregs in preparation for a much bigger fanfiction I’ve got planned. I’ll post them all individually with little descriptions about them all, but until then, here’s the whole group. <3

Modern Dregs AU #2
The Dregs driving
of the seven, Matthias is the best driver
owns one of those vintage cars (like a ‘69 chevy)
his record with DMV is flawless, passed his driving test the first time he took it
he’s always very courteous, yielding to others even when he has the right-of-way (Matty is a Good™)
has one of those “Baby On Board” bumper stickers, actually in reference to his dogs that he takes to the park a couple days a week
Nina always gets on his case about it
“it’s false advertising” “they are my CHILDREN, Nina”
Nina, on the other hand, is the source of Matt’s road anxiety
she never checks over her shoulder when making a turn or lane change
stops for birds in the road, and not gentle stops
full on slam-your-face-into-the-dashboard stop
Matthias has bloodied his nose on multiple occasions when Nina was behind the wheel
“Nina, you don’t STOMP on the brake” “the bird could’ve died!!!” “it’s a BIRD” “what if it was your DOG”
her dream car is a sleek Audi - maybe someday
Inej is v careful on the road but also drives right at the limit
she drives a tiny car (like a Volkswagen Beetle), likes the little jostle when a giant car zooms past and the resistance hits hers
only one who can parallel park without having to go back and forth 15 times
ends up driving Kaz everywhere, he’ll just call her out of the blue
“pick me up” “not with that attitude” “darling inej, would you be so kind as to let me ride with you to school?” “you’re paying for gas”
she only ever agrees to pick him up because she’s crushing on dat boi fully aware he never learned to drive
shocking - Dirtyhands can’t drive
Inej tried to teach him the basics once and it did not end well
“wHY AREN’T WE MOVING” “that’s the brake pedal, Kaz” “oh, so this one” “KAZ, DON’T SLAM ON IT”
he ended up rearending Matthias’s vintage car
“you’re paying for the damage” “do i look like i shit money?”
and then there’s Jesper
hoo boy
Nina’s generous with the brake pedal, and Jesper is the same with the gas pedal
he’s the type to zoom through yellow lights right before it goes red
he also swerves in and out of lanes when he’s in a hurry
no one knows how he got his license, least of all Mr. Fahey (lost his hat once, it flew out the window while Jesper was speeding on the fucking freeway)
Kaz is the only one who maintains some sort of calm when in the car with Jesper driving
meanwhile, Wylan has only ever let Jesper drive once of all the times they went someplace together
“c’mon, wy, I’ll be easy this time” “never. again.”
so Wylan drives them everywhere in his mom’s minivan
surprisingly enough, he has the worst road rage of them all
not like he’ll jump out of the car and go, “FIGHT ME” though he could if he wanted
just gives you the finger as he drives by, acting all tough in the minivan
Kaz applauds him from the back and Inej disapproves
“you shouldn’t encourage him” “why not, he’s learning something useful”
Kuwei can’t really drive yet but Nina likes to take him to the park to practice around the block
she’s like the nonchalant parent
and Matthias is the one who freaks out every time Kuwei increases the speed just 5 mph
“YOU’RE GOING TOO FAST” “i’m only going 25, settle down, you old coot”
you cannot even believe what the roadtrips are like

Modern Dregs AU #3
The Dregs at the beach
Nina and Kuwei come up with the idea to take a trip to the beach over the summer
the roadtrip there was a shitstorm
half the time they get lost
and when they finally get there, there are SO MANY PEOPLE
and Wylan ain’t too fond of crowds
Matthias seems like the kind of guy to go out surfing but nah
he likes to sunbathe with Nina
I mean full on, wearing the aviators and reading a book with a little umbrella stuck in the ground nearby to produce a little shade
and ofc he has to be there if Nina needs more sunscreen on her back
wink wink
Jesper would do the same for Wylan except little Wy is huddled under the shade where not even his toe pokes outside his little circle of shadowy protection
you’ve seen the boy, he’s pale af
he burns in the rays of the evil orb known as the Sun™
“hey, wylan van sunshine, your cousin says hello” “tell him to fuck off”
in the shade, he just builds sandcastles since he has nothing better to do
and they’re grand, so he always shares them on his instagram
though occasionally wylan runs out into the water for five minutes because you know, it’s the beach
he takes his trusty goggles with him
and then he returns to the shade
in the end he still suffers a sunburn??? though he’s in the sun for only five minutes??
poor wy
Kaz, on the other hand, refuses to even leave the car for the first hour that they’re there
Jesper tries to get him out
“c’mon, Kaz, might as well enjoy it while we’re here” “enjoy what? building sandcastles and birdshit from the gulls?”
though Kaz will gladly race out to the shore when Jesper goes out to surf
ofc Jesper rides them waves
though whenever he collapses off the board, Kaz always manages to get it on snapchat
“wow, jes, i didn’t know you could possibly suck at something more than Mario Kart” “i will feed you to the sharks, kaz”
but Kaz never goes swimming or sunbathes either he burns worse than Wylan
you will never see that boy in swimming trunks
never
but you’ll certainly see him join Inej on a scavenger hunt for shells
Inej is one of those who wades around in the low tide, plucking shells, finding crabs, and climbing rocks
she somehow gets Kaz to wade with her
he’s pretty sure she’s the reincarnation of Aphrodite
sometimes they hold hands
Nina goes out for a swim once every time they go to the beach
and every time she does, something brushes her foot
“NO, NO, NO, NO, MATTHIAS HELP”
but it’s only Inej
“damn it, Inej, you SCARED me” “they don’t call me the Wraith for nothing”
you can hear Kaz cackling in the background
Kuwei mostly enjoys the beach for the lovely sunsets
that’s also when Wylan ditches the shade and walks with Jesper along the shore (yes, they’re THAT couple)
and as the sun sets, Kuwei calls for a bonfire
so he builds one
Jesper plays with the flames and it worries everyone
“you’re gonna burn yourself, jes” “no i’m not”
he indeed burns himself
Nina roasts marshmallows for the group while Jesper is chosen to DJ from the car
he plays the raunchy stuff just to get Wylan all flustered
“apple bottom jeaans” “jesper, please” “boots with the furrr” “JESPER” “WITH THE FUR”
Nina sometimes dances with Jesper and since baby got back (yes, they play that song) Matthias CaNnOT eVen TaKE It
his face turns redder than Wylan’s sunburn
meanwhile Kuwei is stuffing his face with the rest of the marshmallows still in the bag, enjoying the show
Inej laughs at Nina and Jesper’s antics and it kills Kaz
the night ends with everyone heading to the tide one more time and admiring the moon
you cannot tell me the crows aren’t “look at the moon” people
but the night ain’t over until someone’s thrown into the water
that someone is Kuwei

Modern Dregs AU #8
The Dregs at the mall
Nina and Kuwei decide to do some shopping and convince the others to tag along
when they first arrive, Kuwei just HAS to go to the Starbucks
he gets himself those ridiculously huge Trenta fraps that he guzzles in like 10 minutes
he ends up getting the whole gang something (even Wylan *gasp*)
he might be a little shit but he’s a lovable little shit
Nina raids ALL the shoe stores
she probably leaves Journey’s with her purse $500+ lighter
Matthias is made to carry around the bags, no matter how heavy
what a Trooper™
as for Matt’s shop preferences, he hits up all kinds of place
he checks out Champs with Jesper and is always disappointed when there’s no hockey stuff (Hockey!Matthias is a thing, ok)
“it’s like they think it isn’t a sport” “well, Matty, we’re not in Canada”
but it’s okay, Nina always orders hockey stuff online for him on his birthday because she’s his Biggest Fan™
Matthias also goes to Hot Topic because he’s obsessed with band T’s
he has, like, hundreds in his closet (almost outnumbers Nina with how many clothes he has)
you CANNOT tell me he isn’t a die-hard metalhead
just let the boy listen to Five Finger Death Punch
while in Hot Topic, you can bet Kaz prob clips off the security tags with a pair of pliers and stuffs whatever he finds in Matt’s bag
“Kaz, no, i’m not helping you with petty theft” “well, you’re petty as fuck, so yeah, we’re doing this”
it’s amazing he never gets caught
he’d probably do the same in the Apple store but Inej always drags him past
“come on, Inej, you didn’t care in Hot Topic” “that was petty theft, i’m not letting you commit GRAND LARCENY”
of course, Inej and Nina hit up Sephora
Jesper joins them (he finds makeup interesting and has let Nina do his once)
he’s always pointing out stuff to Nina
“hey, this lipstick would look KILLER on you” “it’s fucking blue” “EXACTLY”
she begrudgingly buys it anyway
Inej likes to check out all the eyeliner stuff (she’s a Tarte fan, ok)
her eyeliner is always sharp as a knife
haha
get it?
because she uses knives??
i’m hilarious
in the end, Inej gets her eyeliner and Nina once again spends like $300
Matthias pitches in because he loves spoiling her
Wylan drags the group to the Box Lunch where he GEEKS OUT SO BADLY IT’S ADORABLE
“guys, check out the mario stuff! WAIT, what about the Game of Thrones t-shirts?? JESPER, LOOK, THE MARVEL STUFF!!”
now it’s Jesper’s turn to spoil his love
Kuwei also goes batshit crazy in here
basically, these three boys are NERDS
lastly, for Jesper’s sake, they go to GameStop
as they pass the Nintendo inventory, Wylan points to the Mario Kart games
and whispers
“wylan van wreck”
chills
the guys all venture to different parts of the store
Inej studies all the adventure games like Skyrim and Fallout and keeps telling Kaz to try them out
“nah, not that interested” “Kaz” “what” “you can play as a thief build” “………..i’m listening”
Wylan buys Jesper the couple games he wants and on the way out, Jesper gives him a big ol’ kiss out of excitement
they then leave the mall, all happy with their purchases
on the way out, they pass a candy store
Kaz nabs a couple lollipops
one of them is for Inej

Modern Dregs AU #4
The Dregs’ pets
for the record, none of them own crows (sadly)
where Kaz lives, however, they show up frequently at his window
he leaves a little bowl of food for them on his windowsill
and Jordie (yep, he’s alive in this au) always freaks out when he catches him
“KAZ, THEY CARRY DISEASES” “you’re a disease”
he’s also a big dog person
literally the only reason he stops by Matthias’s every week is just to pet the dogs and give them belly rubs
he won’t even say hi to Matt
“kaz, what’re you doing here” “your owner thinks I came to see him, how adorable”
Matthias owns five dogs, to be exact
they are his Children™
he has four big’uns that “boof” not bark
and then he has the one yapper named Duke
he’s Nina’s baby since she herself doesn’t own any pets
and she HATES Inej’s spider
Inej owns a tarantula the size of Matt’s fist
her name is Wraith
sometimes Inej lets her out of her cage to scuttle around on her desk and it gives Nina a heart attack
“INEJ, THAT THING SHOULD BE IN ITS CAGE”
once when Kuwei fell asleep at the girls’ place (hanging out with Nina is exhausting sometimes)
he was in Inej’s room, on her bed
and she’d let out Wraith to scuttle a bit
and she crawled across his face and basically helped him reenact the scene from Home Alone
*screaming*
Inej: oops
Kuwei, meanwhile, owns a cockatoo named Siren
she screeches half the time so he keeps her in his room so she’s not alone
he lets her fly around the house every now and then, and almost everyone else hates her except Kaz
Kaz feeds her banana chips
Kuwei is almost offended
“i swear, he likes my bird more than he likes me” “yeah, your probably right”
and late at night, he’s pretty sure he’s heard the bird squawk, “get brekked”
it haunts him
Jesper, since he helps his dad run a ranch, owns a few pets
he has a chicken named Eva, a pig named Pearl, and a horse named Bullet
Nina has tried to sneak Pearl home on various occasions
Bullet is kinda mean, she only really likes Jesper and Wylan
she’s kicked Kaz too often
“you spooked her with your cane, you deserve it”
but with Wylan, she nuzzles him until he plops on the ground laughing and it makes Kaz jealous but god forbid he admit it
Wylan himself owns a Maine Coon cat named Leo
Leo is very fluffy and a fan favorite of the group
even Matty has warmed up to the “furball” as he calls him
Jesper has unofficially adopted Leo too
oddly enough, Wylan is actually allergic to cats
but Leo was a birthday present from Marya when he was little so there’s no way he’d ditch the cat
regardless, Wylan likes cats
they’re worth all the benadryl

Modern Dregs AU #5
The Dregs at Disneyland
this trip suggestion came from Inej and Jesper when Tower of Terror was yet to be closed forever
“we have to go and ride it one last time!!”
and so, once again, they group in Wylan’s mom’s minivan to go to the Happiest Place on Earth
Kaz begs to differ
“how can you call it happy when the place is flooded with screaming children? it’s a fucking hellshow”
but he still goes for Inej’s sake
when they get there, Jesper buys the whole group the hats with the Mickey Mouse ears
Kaz refuses to wear his
they first ride the Pirates of the Caribbean, which has the one really fast drop right
of the seven, Matthias probably screams the most (he’s never been)
Nina the whole time is singing “A Pirate’s Life for Me”
they buy the photo and boy, is it a piece
Most of them are laughing
Wylan looks like he’s about to cry
Matthias, ofc, looks like his soul left his body
and Kaz is rocking a Pokerface™
next they ride the Matterhorn per Nina’s request
when they pass the Yeti, she points to it
“MATTY, IS THAT YOU??” “goddamnit nina”
for the rest of the day, the group calls him “Yetthias” and it grinds his gears
somehow they end up doing It’s a Small World and they realize very quickly that iT WAS A MISTAKE
the singing children unnerves them all, especially Wylan
“excuse me, can I get off of this thing early? i feel like im descending into the depths of hell” “i told you it wasn’t the happiest place on earth” “shut up, kaz”
Kuwei is the only one who even kind of enjoyed it
“c’mon guys, it wasn’t that bad” “i’ll lock you in there for two hours, then you tell me if it’s bad or not”
they then decide that Tower of Terror should be saved for last, so they head on to the Sailing Ship Columbia
Wylan and Jesper go below deck to check out the museum (Wylan likes museums and no one can tell me otherwise)
Jesper likes how excited he gets about the maps, it makes him wanna kiss him
he does
Matthias and Nina stay above deck to keep an eye on Kuwei, since he’s such a spaz sometimes
“don’t get to close to the edge, Kuwei, you’ll fall!” “nina, if he falls, that’s not our fault” “hOW CAN YOU SAY THAT, HE’S A CHILD”
Inej stays toward the front to sight-see, and Kaz joins her
and since they’re alone, they hold hands
“isn’t it pretty, Kaz?”
he’s too busy staring at her
she’s positively glowing under the sunlight, and the wind is causing her braid to ripple in the air
and all he wants to do is take out the braid and run his fingers through her hair, he’s just so enamored
“absolutely beautiful”
so smooth
the group then chooses Splash Mountain
Kaz HATES it when he ends up the one soaked through to the bone
Matthias ends up in the same condition
“i smell like a wet dog” “sorry, you’re still a Yeti” “what the fuck”
Jesper snaps a picture of the both of them for his insta (”it’s raining Kaz and dogs!!”)
neither are amused with the pun
in order to dry themselves off, the group then goes to grab something to eat over at the Tiki Room (and the watch the show)
at one point, Jesper points to one of the birds that looks like a crow
“kaz, is that u” “wow, so original, jes”
next up is the Haunted Mansion and Inej LOVES IT
she digs the eerie shit
then, because Kuwei wouldn’t shut up about it, they decide to do Space Mountain though they end up in line for an hour and a half wait
poor Jesper could barely contain himself so Inej came up with the idea of playing Heads Up! from their phones
it takes the edge off waiting and they end up having a blast on the ride
this time, Kaz couldn’t keep a straight face and Wylan has actual tears in the photo
then finally, they head to California Adventures for TOWER OF TERROR
and since it’s getting late at night, there’s no wait at all
Wylan is freaking out a bit
“i already have dreams of falling, i don’t want to actually experience it” “it’s okay, Wylan Van Sunshine, i’ll hold your hand”
Matthias is pumped (he’s grown to like the thrill)
on the ride, even Kaz screams during the free fall
and when they get off, he actually falls on the ground, his legs are wobbling so much
Inej helps him regain his balance as they start to leave the theme park
but, of course, they have to stay for the parade
Kuwei falls asleep halfway through, his head on Nina’s shoulder
and as they leave, while he’ll never admit it, Kaz actually had a good time after all
