Shingo Hayashi, 21

When he left for Britechester, he expected to become a lawyer in a few years, but things turned out differently. Now he’s barely studying, and he’s only hanging out around the house he and his friends rented because he’s taking care of all the stray cats in the neighbourhood. He can’t just leave them, they’re like his precious babies! In his free time, Shingo creates content on the internet, he streams, he makes videos, he takes cute pictures of himself…he loves what he’s doing and wouldn’t have it any other way, but his mother certainly wouldn’t approve of his activities.

[Shingo] Talk to me Duncan. Are you okay? (Duncan continues to stare into space while puffing on his cigarette) (As if awakening from a trance) [Duncan] I have decided. I need to get out of here. I’m going to be moving to the country-side. Henford-on-Bagley. [Shingo] I don’t know if it is a good idea. You, alone in the country. [Duncan] It is not a rash decision... I just can't be here right now. (passes the cigarette to Shingo) [Duncan] I will finish up what I have to do here. It will probably take some time. (They sat there smoking in silence)

[Duncan] I know you are worried. But I can take care of myself. Trust me Shingo. [Shingo] Maybe, it is for the best. I will help to look into the real estate in Henford. You can count on me. [Duncan] Thank you Shingo... I’m so lucky to have you. [Shingo] It will get better... not now but one day.

Initial D Characters and their pets

Fujiwara family- they’ve always been too poor to keep anything officially, but Bunta and Takumi both feed the ally way cats

Speed Stars- I haven’t figured out anything too specific but I share @steakrogers ‘s HC that Kenji owns a ferret that acts as the Speed Stars mascot.

Mogi- her family owns a gorgeous orange long haired cat named something very stereotypical for a cat

Takahashi family- Ryosuke had a gold fish before Keisuke was born but since then his family never allowed pets. Even still Keisuke would try to bring home and keep any animal he found. In the Sims I gave Keisuke a jack Russel.

Kenta- he has a pet hamster at his parents. On free weekends he’ll dress it up for photos.

Fumihiro- he grew up on a farm so has plenty of experience with ungulates and fowl. Really wishes that capybara can be kept as a house pet, settles on a couple of guinea pigs. When he “grows up” he wants a big dog.

Nakazato- he’s never had a pet but he’s always dreamed of having a Bunny

Shingo- He has owned rats since high school, replacing them whenever they die so the other doesn’t get lonely. Despite his unkept appearance and attitude the rats are well taken care of with more space in his apartment than he has

Impact Blue- Mako has a well kept salt water fish tank which Sayuki helps to try to feed every so often. Sayuki is a designer dog enjoyer and might get one if they get a bigger place. Mako’s mom owns a crusty maltese and Sayuki’s grandparents own a gloster canary.

Wataru- He reads as some sort of tank creature owner, unsure if it’s a mammal like a hamster or a reptile like a gecko, whichever his parents always goaded him into sharing the pets chores with his sister and sometimes cousin.

Kyoichi- he owns no pets personally but on occasion he has to pet sit his grandmothers chihuahua, everyone on Iroha can’t help but think they’re very alike

Seiji- owns a cat he picked up on the side of the road. Like Keisuke, he tries to be friends with every animal but his apartment only allows one pet. Constant user of the phrase ‘if not friend why friend shaped’

Kai- he has always been a bug kid, keeping beetles he find in the wild. As an adult he owns a tarantula named Dumpling. Most of his friends are too afraid of the tarantula to come into his room when they hang out.

Todo School- own a shop cat or two

Rin- in an alternate universe where his fiancé doesn’t get fridged and their relationship is healthy, I like to think they own a black mastiff.

Im putting my sonny boy review (in Portuguese) under the read more. Its very very shallow, because i wrote it for uni and i had to keep it under a set number of lines. Basically just an overview and me yelling at the reader to watch the show lol

Para fãs da animação japonesa (anime), 2021 pode ser resumido numa só palavra: saturado. No ano anterior, por causa da pandemia, muitos estúdios foram forçados a parar ou adiar seus projetos, o que em parte pode explicar a enorme quantidade de séries e filmes que estreou em 2021. Nesse cenário, muitos fãs viram seus calendários cheios de novos episódios de suas séries favoritas, e algumas produções de alta qualidade foram ignoradas. Entre elas, Sonny Boy, um anime ambicioso e diferente que passou quase despercebido, e que acredito seja uma das melhores séries, senão a melhor, do ano. 

Sonny Boy é um anime produzido pelo estúdio Madhouse (Death Note, Trigun, Parasyte, Nana, etc.), e a primeira produção original do diretor Shingo Natsume (Space Dandy, One-Punch Man). Já esses nomes chamam a atenção do público amador, e a equipe por trás dessa série não decepciona: Sonny Boy conta com uma animação belíssima, fluída e diversa, que foge das tendências e explora estilos inovativos; a música, que se integra de maneira orgânica com a história, expressa as emoções dos personagens e dá vida ao mundo em que se encontram. A série conta com elementos estranhos e uma narrativa complexa que não segue padrões e não dá respostas diretas; é um projeto arriscado que poucos estúdios modernos levariam a frente, porém, Madhouse é conhecido (e amado) por tomar esse tipo de riscos, e a paixão que essa equipe sente pela série pode ser sentida em cada segundo dos seus 12 episódios. 

A sinopse é a seguinte: no meio de um dia de verão comum, uma turma de último ano do ensino fundamental é transportada a uma dimensão alternativa, junto com a escola. Esses adolescentes se encontram sozinhos no meio de um grande vazio escuro, e além disso, alguns do grupo ganharam habilidades sobrenaturais, o que leva a uma situação tensa entre eles e aqueles sem poderes. A história segue as tentativas da turma de encontrar o caminho de volta a casa, numa viagem na qual terão que contar uns com os outros, e se conhecerem melhor a si mesmos. Os protagonistas da história são Nagara, um jovem alienado de seus colegas que parece ter desistido de tudo; Nozomi, uma nova estudante que quer se tornar sua amiga e que se posiciona em contra do sistema social existente; e Mizuho, uma garota com muito caráter que não se dá muito bem com os outros. 

Sonny Boy é, ante tudo, uma série desafiadora. Não há emocionantes cenas de ação, os personagens não têm longos monólogos explicando o que pensam e sentem, e ainda sendo uma história sobre adolescentes, a série nunca dá prioridade ao romance. Às vezes confusa, o propósito de Sonny Boy não é dar respostas ao seu público, mas sim provocar fortes emoções e momentos de catarse. Shingo Natsume tenta, por meio de seus personagens, explorar os medos e ansiedades que todos sentimos na adolescência. O episódio 3, por exemplo, trata de macacos jogadores de beisebol; ou, se você olhar mais detalhadamente, sobre como abandonamos coisas que antes fazíamos por prazer, como jogar esportes, por não ter o “talento” suficiente para nos tornar profissionais. Ainda que cada episódio tenha sua própria história, todos revolvem ao redor da relação entre os personagens principais e como eles se ajudam mutuamente a crescer como pessoas e superar os medos que os aprisionam. 

No final, o importante não é como eles voltam a casa, mas sim a jornada até lá. Acredito que vale a pena dar uma oportunidade a essa série de levar você numa aventura através do espaço, e quiçá encontrar algo de significado que poderá levar para sempre com você.

I built the Tsukino house in the Sims 4! It's not 100% accurate and some things weren't quite possible the way they're supposed to look, but aside from that I'm pretty happy with it. 🙈 I mostly used floor plans from the Sailor Moon Wiki as inspiration as well as some of the 90s anime episodes.

I made the lot a vacation rental lot, since my Usagi Sim and Haruka Sim live in a different house already. I ended up not adding the attic where Chibi-Usa sleeps in the SuperS arc, but maybe I will at some point.

Also, I'm just now realizing that I could have turned off the grid while taking pictures, but I forgot. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Anyway, like I said, it's not perfect but I like it anyway. 😋
