Highlights (well... marginally notable moments) from David and Ruby's Snowflake Day Gift-Giving Party:
Trigger Broke, Buck Broke, and Odin Crosby developing an unhealthy fixation on Eloise, Ruby and David's middle child, booing and heckling her whenever she appeared in their field of vision. It was hate at first sight for these freaks and the why of it remains a mystery.
Evan and his, er, nephew, Adrian Ivanov, befriending each other immediately and being inseparable throughout the party
Emmaline being such a PITA with respect to routing/being in everyone's way that I sent her out to rake leaves in the backyard (and I'd do it again, too), then, uh, sort of forgot about her? until she stormed back in to use the facilities. Once she was through, I sent her back out to the yard to dispose of all the leaf piles. On a positive note, the backyard looks so much better now. We're all ready for Spring!
David having to Ask Everyone to Leave in order to end the party at 1:30 in the morning because Snowflake Day occurred on a Wednesday/a school night; more importantly, because none of those assclowns would LEAVE without that kind of, ah, encouragement.
Mags Newbie refusing to die even though she's 1000 years old, but insisting on smelling the place up with her poor hygiene until I snapped and resetSim'd her tf out of there
Pics below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gross, guys! Leave her alone!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Fortunately, Dimitri is in the backyard. Nonetheless, I had Ruby convince Diphda to go flirt with Dimitri, then had Ruby engage Odin in conversation. Crisis averted.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seriously, Odin, ENOUGH. She's a child!
Mags Newbie, shown at left in her heinous ITF "formalwear," is complaining that someone is in her way because she wants to go upstairs to leave a plate of shitty onion rings on one of the desks there, the available kitchen counters by now being covered in everyone else's shitty party foods that I really wish they would just not bring.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I didn't get a picture of it, but poor Evan wound up having to sleep in the treehouse in the backyard, because the other obsession Odin Crosby developed was with the music box in Evan's room, and Odin dragged his best buddy Trigger Broke into that room with him, in order to better block the door to Evan's room. 😠😡😠
Incidentally, this has been my Supernatural playstyle progression over the years:
Initially: All occults enabled
After every original townie dipshit in Sunset Valley was, through the dark magic of werewolfery and vampiredom, still alive while I was starting the fourth generation of my legacy family: "Fuck werewolves, fuck vampires, let's only have witches and fairies from now on."
After being constantly annoyed by the music obsession of the fairies, that is, currently: "Witches only, bitches."
Anyway, I have got to remember to lock everyone's bedroom doors before inviting these monsters over again... if I ever invite them over again.

Maximus McDermott likes older women and seems to have the hots for Mags. His wife, MaryKay (Shallow), isn’t impressed and rushes over to remind him of his marriage vows.
Note to self: Don’t invite Fatima Simovitch and Dallas Shallow to the same party. They started fighting the moment Dallas walked in the door, leaving Vadim helplessly caught in the middle. The pugilists left the party exhausted and stinking immediately after their brawl.

They end up taking cover in a nearby gym, just in case Sandra and Seb drive by.
Laurel: What’s the guy’s name, do you know?
Dallas: Seb Delaney. I’m sure you’ll get some info if you look him up.
She proceeds to do just that.
Laurel: Oh, my... there isn’t enough info, but considering what you’ve told me... businessman, patron of the arts, etc. Yeah, no. This guy gave me the chills.
Dallas: Me too, to be frank. I hope Brook isn’t all alone where she is.
Laurel shakes her head.
- No, not alone. Some people are looking out for her. Oh, my...
Her attention is drawn to the online ad, where her best friend’s picture is followed by the words “Have You Seen This Girl?”, followed by contact information, which Laurel is sure belongs to either Sandra or Seb.
Laurel: This is bad, the ad is already live. So much for her hiding from them.
Dallas: I wouldn’t worry too much, I mean there are plenty of similar ads all over the internet. Do most people even call?
Laurel: I don’t know. Let’s hope they don’t! And hey, thanks for helping out, back at the shop.
Dallas: Don’t mention it. You stay safe, now.

Look who it is: The Shallow Family!
Since most of the family members deeply despise each other, I was really surprised to see them all togetheron one lot. Granted, Mary-Kay is playing horseshoes by herself, but at least she’s not intimidating younger kids or doing evil things as she usually does...
Tom & June are having a blast in the water balloon arena, and Dallas & his grandfather Kurt are waiting for a hotdog eating contest to begin.

The 2nd “new” family created are the Phillips. When I was looking for a place to put my town festival lot, the only 64x64 one that I saw, was where the Grisby family lived. When I checked them out, he was a level 5 politician, while she had an entry-level job as a cook – at the diner, no less. So, I decided that while they might be middle-class, they weren’t “stinkin’ rich” material. So, I decided to move them.
Tumblr media
And this is their new house – right across the street, from the school. It’s an EA original, with some changes by me. I added a ton of new windows, matched the chimney to the house’s brick siding, gave it some new doors and then upgraded a lot of the interior furniture. But I did save some of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, when I moved the lot and family to my play town, I took that town’s Grisby family, changed their names, and moved them to this house across the river. Originally I was going to rehab the EA house there, but OMG! What a mess! After wasting a day on it, I finally bulldozed it and gave the new family this house from MTS. I believe it was called the Cottonwood Estate – or some such thing. Anyway, I did make some changes – like the new pasture and that whole garden area. Mostly because this new father is now Edgar Phillips and he’s a scientist – and the brother of June Shallow. His wife, Natalie, is the town vet. (Thank you, Missy for the veterinarian career! Something EA should have given us with Pets but were too damn lazy to do). She is also the twin sister of the original Grisby wife, Yvette. These two met in college. He came from “old money,” while she was there on a scholarship – which accounts for why she got a degree while her sister, Yvette, didn’t. Anyway, since twins run in families – we have them in ours – I decided to give them twin boys. Their daughter is now named Missy, and is a typical “mean” girl. She is also BFF with her cousin Dallas Shallow and they like to pick on her other cousin, Laurel Grisby. Laurel Grisby’s dad is now the brother of Mags Newbie. The Newbie son, Bob, also runs with Missy and Dallas – so he too, joins in picking on Laurel. Such nice young Sims! Edgar Phillips totally approves of his daughter’s behavior because he is totally into the “haves-and-have-not” thing. And let’s face it. He’s from a wealthy family while his wife’s in-laws are just making ends meet. Plus his brother-in-law, Walter, has opposing political views – he actually wants to help the neighboring farmers, while Edgar - for all his eco-friendly mantra – could really give a rat’s ass less about the land. Or his neighbors. So of course, he thinks that he’s better than the Grisbys. He’s just sneaky about it, and doesn’t show his true colors when his wife is around.
Anyway, I decided to set these family ties up because I now live in a small town of about 7,000 people. When we moved here from St. Louis County 20-some years ago, there were only about 5,000 people here – and almost all of them were related to one another in some way. And since Riverview is supposed to be a small town, I decided they needed that same connection. EA created a few, but I wanted cousins and aunts and uncles. And family drama. Lots of family drama. So, that’s what I’m doing with my spare Sims. Also, I should add, that I usually just kill off these duplicate Sims – because I don’t like generic tombstones in my cemeteries - but Riverview’s graveyard is already chock full of dead Sims. So, another reason to use the duplicates as entirely new families.
Tumblr media
When I got done with those 2 families I decided to check out the elder Carpenter-Rhodes family. The house seemed semi-okay, so I decided to just keep it. I did change the siding and add new windows and doors. Plus – since she is now a senior scientist involved in genetic splicing or some such nonsense, I gave them that tractor thingie and redid their garden area. He is now the town weatherman but likes to putter around on it, on his days off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here’s the inside of their house – well, the redone 1st floor. (Upstairs I kept basically the same, so didn’t bother with pictures.) Anyway, I kept the basic footprint, just repurposed the space a tad. I got rid of that huge bathroom that was in front, and made it into a small study. Then I gave her a nicer kitchen with that canning station and baking oven. I also switched out the stairs and gave then a smaller bathroom right behind them. And in the living room, I gave them some new furniture. I used some of Sandy’s new knitting stuff, since I figured the old lady was into that sort of thing.
Tumblr media
And here are the old farts themselves, with their pet “fox and raccoon”. When I was giving these 2 their make-overs and new careers, I noticed that they weren’t married. So I decided it was time to stop “living in sin” and do the deed. They both already had wedding bands on, so I’m not sure if it was just a glitch in my game or EA forgot. But now they are happily wed and both have college degrees in their respective fields. And they now actually have jobs in fields that reflect the info in their bios.

After the first round of the 2018 NFL draft on Friday, we picked out the rookies who could possibly make an immediate impact in the league and find a spot on fantasy football rosters this fall (hint: not many). Now that the draft is a wrap, let’s look for some even deeper sleepers.
Here are 10 players selected after the first round who could make some noise in fantasy leagues this season, listed in order of when they were selected.
Nick Chubb, RB, Browns (Pick No. 35)
Chubb was the first skill player taken in the second round. The problem in Cleveland, however, could be the workload. It seems antithetical to everything we all know about real football and fantasy football, but there are suddenly a ton of mouths to feed in Cleveland. Jarvis Landry is going to get his, Josh Gordon is going to get his and same goes for Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson. Even second-year tight end David Njoku is an intriguing player this season. Chubb will have to find a way to fit into that mix. Now, there’s no doubt the Browns want him to not only fit in, but possibly stand out. After all, they took him with the No. 35 pick for a reason. Still, it’s hard to say how many touches will be available for the Georgia product on a weekly basis.
Ronald Jones, RB, Buccaneers (No. 38)
Jones should have a shot to start right away as a rookie. The only realistic competition in Tampa Bay comes in the form of Peyton Barber and Charles Sims, who have played valuable roles for the Buccaneers over the last few seasons, but the USC product is already the most talented back on the team. He’s likely to lead the team in touches, and there’s still some breakout potential with his offense if Jameis Winston can take the next step under center this year. Jones can be a legitimate week-in, week-out starter in all fantasy leagues.
Courtland Sutton, WR, Broncos (No. 40)
At 6′ 4″ and 215 pounds, Sutton has a frame that is already primed for the NFL. He joins a Denver team that doesn’t need him to shoulder too much of the receiving load with Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders still the top two receivers on the depth chart, but also one that could use some playmaking help, especially in the red zone. Don’t sleep on the upgrade Denver made at quarterback, either, by signing Case Keenum, who became a castoff in Minnesota after leading the team to the NFC championship game. Even if he cannot match his surprising, mid-career breakout campaign, he proved himself a steady hand under center, and he’ll be working with as strong a group of receivers this year as he did last year. Sutton should benefit from having the stability of a player like Keenum at the helm.
Mike Gesicki, TE, Dolphins (No. 42)
Gesicki’s possible fantasy relevance as a rookie rests entirely on two pillars: the shallowness of the tight end pool, and the possible volume available in the Miami offense. It doesn’t take a whole lot to get into the discussion at the back end of the TE1 class, and there will be plenty of targets to go around in Miami now that Jarvis Landry is in Cleveland. Gesicki will have to contend with DeVante Parker, Kenny Stills and Danny Amendola, and Kenyan Drake should get his fair share of looks out of the backfield, but Gesicki can be a real weapon for Ryan Tannehill in the middle of the field. He’ll be a worthy dart throw late in drafts.
Kerryon Johnson, RB, Lions (No. 43)
The Lions’ backfield struggles over the last 10 years or so are no secret. The team took its first step toward addressing the situation by signing LeGarrette Blount, and then added Johnson in a spot that suggests he’ll have a meaningful right away. That’s obviously bad news for Ameer Abdullah, who has never brought to the team what was expected when he was a second-round pick himself back in 2015. Despite going 43rd overall, there are a few roadblocks in Johnson’s way. First of all, Blount is going to do his thing, which, most importantly, means handling all goal-line duties. Second, Theo Riddick is one of the best pass-catching backs in the league, and already has a rapport with Matthew Stafford. That means Johnson will have to fight both of those players for touches on the edges, and that could keep his volume down as a rookie. His biggest impact this season might be signaling the end of the Abdullah era in Detroit.
Christian Kirk, WR, Cardinals (No. 47)
Take a look at the Cardinals’ depth chart at wide receiver, and you’ll see that Kirk isn’t just set up to eventually take the torch from Larry Fitzgerald whenever the inimitable veteran retrires. He should also have a significant role in the offense this season. Brice Butler, J.J. Nelson and Chad Williams aren’t going to stand in his way, and with Fitzgerald doing so much of his greatest damage out of the slot, Kirk could be the go-to weapon on the outside in the Cardinals’ offense. He spent much of his time at Texas A&M operating out of the slot, too, but the Cardinals wouldn’t have taken him where they did, passing on Anthony Miller, James Washington, D.J. Chark and Michael Gallup, if they didn’t think he could play outside. Kirk is an absolute burner who is going to make more than a few highlight plays deep down the field this season. He’ll likely be a boom-or-bust player as a rookie, but that will have him on the deep receiver and flex radar, especially when the bye-week portion of the schedule hits.
Anthony Miller, WR, Bears (No. 51)
You can learn a lot about what teams think of their players in the manner by which they acquire them. The Bears, for example, gave up their 2019 second-round pick to move up 54 spots and grab Miller with the No. 51 pick in this year’s draft. Even after adding Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel in the offseason, the Bears needed to come out of the draft with at least one more receiver, and they did so earlier than many expected thanks to Ryan Pace’s aggressiveness. Miller was one of the best receivers in the country in his final two seasons at Memphis, totaling 191 catches for 2,896 yards and 32 touchdowns. He’ll have a huge role in the offense from day one, and remember that this could be one of the breakout groups of the season with Matt Nagy at the helm. Miller will be an intriguing draft-day target, regardless of your league format.
Derrius Guice, RB, Redskins (No. 59)
Guice has thought of as a potential first-round pick, but landed in Washington in the in the second round at pick No. 59 overall. Guice may have more pure talent than Jones or Royce Freeman, but his team context isn’t nearly as encouraging. The Redskins love Chris Thompson, with good reason, and he should be recovered from fully recovered from his fractured fibula by the start of the season. The question will be whether he can beat out Samaje Perine to be Washington’s primary runner out of the backfield. If he does and secures a role where he’s getting 12-plus touches per game, he’ll make this unofficial ranking look silly. If he doesn’t, or if he and Perine share the load for most of the season, he might be no more than a fringe flex player in most fantasy formats. Keep on eye on this positional battle during the summer. Guice unquestionably has a high ceiling, but he needs to push Perine to the bench to make the most of it.
Royce Freeman, RB, Broncos (No. 71)
The Broncos’ brain trust made it very clear that Freeman would have every shot at winning the starting gig. Devontae Booker is still a youngster, but no team uses the No. 71 pick on a running back in today’s NFL to have him spend his rookie year on the sideline, especially when that team doesn’t have an entrenched starter. Freeman was electric in his career at Oregon, leaving the school with the Pac-12 record for career rushing touchdowns (60). He racked up nearly 6,500 yards from scrimmage during his four years in Eugene, and topped 2,000 total yards as a sophomore back in 2015. If Freeman can, at the very least, be on the long side of a platoon with Booker, he’ll be a consistent flex option. If he runs away with the starting job, which seems likelier than not, he’ll likely project as an RB2 during draft season.
Michael Gallup, WR, Cowboys (No. 81)
Gallup was the first draft selection at receiver of the post-Dez Bryant era in Dallas, and if you think that doesn’t mean anything, take a look at the rest of the team’s depth chart at the position. Gallup joins a wide receiver room that includes Allen Hurns, Terrance Williams, Tavon Austin, Cole Beasley and Deonte Thompson. Dak Prescott probably wouldn’t say it on the record, but chances are he isn’t brimming with confidence while looking at that list of names. Gallup will be expected to start immediately after the team grabbed him with the 81st overall pick. He excelled in his two years at Colorado State, catching 176 passes for 2,690 yards and 21 touchdowns, and should get plenty of opportunity to prove himself the best wideout in Dallas.

Ruby's turn to throw a party! Having learned that the Watering Hole Juice Bar is lousy, I threw hers at the Summer Festival.

And look who the first guest is!

Most of the other women Ruby invited, unfortunately, were actually friends of David's. They arrived to the Riverview Cannery Festival Grounds with one thing on their minds:
Tumblr media
Drinks. Well, that is three fairies I count in this pic alone, so the drinks and the music (Ruby added the bars and a cheap stereo) ought to make this a roof-raiser.
Tumblr media
Damnit, what's Dallas Shallow doing here? I paid for exclusive access and I sure as hell didn't invite this goober. 😡 The way this game doesn't respect even a single one of your decisions is so irritating.
Diphda, honey, I know pregnancy gives one an appetite, but this is not why we're here today, all right? Come back inside.
Tumblr media
Aw, she made friends with Shirley Lin! Diphda's such an amiable Sim. I miss her so much. But this is Ruby's party, so I should probably be paying more attention to her.
The party dancers are here! Is that what all these ladies are suddenly hollering about?
...no.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At least I didn't invite any elders.
