Dakota North

Maybe it’s because I’m currently reading The Tyrant’s Tomb, but this character is definitely inspired by Piper McLean. Her name is copied from the Dakota North character from True Jackson. It was originally going to be Piper North but it’s late and I kept using Dakota so...Dakota North it is.

Here’s what you need to know about Dakota North.

She dresses shabbily for someone who looks really, really hot. Not such a surprise once you find out who her parents are.

Anthony North is a movie star, ranked along the likes of Orlando Bloom and Dwayne Johnson. He divorced his Wife when Dakota was 6, and switches girlfriends on a regular basis. However, he loves his daughter dearly, spoils her, and spends time with her every summer at his Beverly Hills mansion.

Brooke Song is an Asian Victoria’s Secret Angel and currently has custody of Dakota. Her main residence is New York but she travels frequently because of work. (Anthony travels too but he stays overseas longer). She adores Dakota and tries to give her a normal life.

This leaves Dakota with a lot of money and absent parents. Sound familiar?

Unlike Chloe who bullies with her father’s name and cash, or Adrien who tries to please his Father, Dakota causes trouble to get her parents’ attention.

She specifically enjoys stealing things.

Dakota also refuses to mention who her parents are so she can identify who her real friends are. Brooke supports this and thus lets her agent handle school matters to ensure confidentiality.

But Dakota’s thieving streak has finally gotten her kicked out out of all the good schools in New York and then some.

Exasperated, Brooke decides to send her Daughter to Paris as she signs with a French modelling company there.

When Dakota introduces herself to her new class, she says her name and that she is from America, that is all.

Her new seat is next to Ivan, behind Marinette and in front of Lila.

Ivan introduces himself. Dakota is agreeably pleasant.

Marinette introduces herself as the class president and invites Dakota to ask her if she needs help. Dakota responds politely.

Then Lila jumps in and mentions how she was in America too. She had met all sorts of superstars and describes how she knows a few of them.

Dakota actually knows those stars thanks to her parents letting her attend their celebrity parties. She knows Lila is lying but doesn’t really care.

Lila just got labelled as part of the “them” crowd.

Lila is perturbed. This is the first time someone has shown a lack of reaction to her tales. Usually there was awe, with the occasional sprinkling of anger and jealousy. But Dakota just looked bored by her.

Dakota soon begins her thieving spree but this is difficult because the Parisians are already wary of thieves.

The first time she succeeds, she is caught by Marinette.

Instead of immediately scolding her, like Dakota expected, Marinette asked for her reasons.

Dakota admits she doesn’t really care about this laptop. She just wants to cause enough trouble.

Marinette is silent, intuitively sensing Dakota isn’t mean, and offers a confession of her own. “I steal handphones.”

Dakota is shocked her class president is capable of such an act.

Marinette defends herself that she only stole phones because she had to correct an error or to delete incriminating evidence.

Sensing a kindred spirit, Dakota finally opens up and asks Marinette if she is Chinese.

They start bonding over their shared kleptomaniac issue and heritage. Marinette even invites Dakota to her bakery.

When Lila tells tales, Dakota now joins Marinette and Adrien on the sidelines to talk about actual reality.

The latter asks why Dakota isn’t enthralled like the rest of the class.

Dakota admits she knows Lila is lying. She isn’t calling Lila out because she’s seen girls like her before, and they aren’t worth her time.

One day, Brooke and Audrey meet and decide to let their daughters play together while the grown ups chat. Chloe is surprised that Dakota is Brooke’s Daughter.

Audrey assures Brooke that her Daughter can keep a secret. The two aren’t convinced after hearing how Chloe outed her hero identity.

Audrey pressures Chloe to keep silent. Chloe quickly agrees.

Meanwhile, Lila is annoyed. She assumes from Dakota’s position with Adrien and Marinette that she knows Lila is lying. The problem is that Dakota never called her out for it. The new girl just ignores Lila as if she were thin air.

No matter how ridiculous her tales got (that Marinette had to bite her tongue just to stop pointing out the holes), how exaggerated her “disabilities” were (that Adrien sighed in dismay), Dakota never showed the slightest hint of emotion.

It infuriated Lila so much that this American actually showed emotion to those 2 goody-goody, pompous duo, and actually ignored her.

If Lila had a pet peeve, it would be someone calling her out on her lies. But a close second would be lack of attention.

When Dakota and Lila were alone in the locker room, Lila asked sweetly, “Dakota, can we talk for a bit.”

Dakota looked at the clock. “You have 3 minuits.”

Lila feigned shyness. “Right, right, of course, I don’t want to waste your time.”

Dakota just gave her a deadpan stare. You’re already wasting it. Just say what you have to say already. I’m already tired of your endless blathering.

“It’s just...do you hate me, Dakota? I’ve tried to reach out to you, but you just ignore me and decline invitations.”

“I decline invitations from other classmates too, Lila. Don’t worry. You’re not the odd one out.” You’re not special.

Lila’s nostrils flared, but she kept her voice soft. “I’ve noticed. But I also...I also think you don’t like me.”

“That’s not exactly true. I don’t like you, yes. But I don’t dislike you either.” You’re nothing to me.

Lila stammered, “But...but why? I’ve been nothing but nice to you.”

“More like babbling my ear off,” Dakota’s tone was painfully blunt. “All the time you say me, myself and I. Can you even talk in a conversation without mentioning yourself? You’re like a parrot. Colourful and talkative, but you don’t know when to shut up or talk sense.”

Lila flushed. “Excuse me?”

“You’re excused.” Dakota turned, finishing the conversation.

“We’re not done here!” Lila yelled, catching up to hold Dakota’s arm in a tight grip. “Who do you think you are, talking to me like that? As if you’re better than all of us. I’m the one with the connections. You’re just a walking fashion disaster.”

Dakota just stared at Lila, unimpressed and unafraid. “I believe the real question is, why do you care? Because honestly, you’re just proving my point. You’re a parrot spouting nonsensical lies.”

Lila finally snapped. “Because no one ignores me! Not that insufferable Marinette, not Adrien with all his naivety, and especially not the rest of our idiotic class! At least your self-righteous pals react when I lie to the class. But you sit there all unimpressed and uncaring.”

At last, Dakota felt she understood Lila. Wanting attention is understandable. But Lila’s reasons and methods were all wrong.

Dakota calmly pried Lila’s arm off her, walked away and flipped a rude gesture behind her without even turning her head.

Lila shrieked.

Neither of them had noticed Chloe standing behind the lockers, video recording their confrontation and live-streaming it to Audrey and Brooke.

True to her word, Chloe didn’t spill the beans. But that didn’t mean she hadn’t tried to cozy up to Dakota. Mostly because Audrey actually respected Brooke. But too little, too late. Chloe had been labelled as “them” too.

Now though, Chloe had very juicy gossip to share and she didn’t make a promise regarding this!

Next period, Lila reported a missing phone and accused Dakota. Dakota and Marinette exchanged glances, confirming that neither did this.

But the class was getting riled up by Lila’s accusation and Dakota’s uncaring non-reaction. They ignored Adrien and Marinette’s defenses.

“ENOUGH!”

As one, the class turned to stare at Chloe. The blonde frowned. “I’m tired of all this drama. If you’re all worked up about this simple theft, I wonder how you’re going to react when you see this.”

Chloe plays the video.

The class is an uproar. Lila is cornered and runs away. Marinette calms the class down and sends Adrien to retrieve Lila.

Dakota just watches all this and waits.

Lady Wifi returns and was defeated. Lila’s disabilities are looked into and she is in trouble.

Brooke and Audrey are so proud of their daughters. Chloe is basking in her mother’s praise while Dakota enjoys her mother fussing over her for any bruises left by the Italian and simultaneously praising her for her composure.

Dakota invites Marinette and Adrien to stay with her for the summer. Adrien can’t attend but Marinette makes it. She is the first friend in Paris Dakota introduces to her parents.

ATX TELEVISION FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES NEXT WAVE OF PROGRAMMING

ATX Television Festival continues to announce major programming for season eight, which will take place June 6-9, 2019, in Austin, Texas.

ATX will premiere HBO's upcoming summer series "Euphoria," created, written by, and executive produced by Sam Levinson, as this opening night screening and panel on Thursday June 6th. "Euphoria” follows a group of high school students as they navigate drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship. The screening will be followed by a panel conversation with creator/executive producer Sam Levinson, and cast members Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Barbie Ferreira, and Eric Dane. Executive producers also include Drake, Future the Prince, Ravi Nandan, Kevin Turen, Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein, Ron Leshem, Daphna Levin, Tmira Yardeni, Mirit Toovi, Yoram Mokady, Gary Lennon and Jim Kleverweis. "Euphoria" is produced in partnership with A24, and based on the Israeli series of the same name from Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin.

ABC’s record-breaking medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy” will screen the season 15 episode “Silent All These Years,” written by Elisabeth R. Finch and directed by Debbie Allen, which marks one of the series’ most riveting and emotional hours yet. The screening will be followed by a Q&A conversation with showrunner & executive producer Krista Vernoff, co-executive producer & writer Elisabeth R. Finch, and stars Camilla Luddington and Kim Raver, who will discuss the impact that the episode has had on viewers, as well as their approach to tackling topics of sexual assault and consent.

This year’s festival will feature a screening of an all-new episode of Freeform’s “grown-ish,” followed by a Q&A with cast & creatives, including cast members Yara Shahidi, Trevor Jackson, Francia Raisa, Chloe Bailey, Halle Bailey, Emily Arlook and Jordan Buhat, and executive producer and writer Craig Doyle. “grown-ish” returns on Wednesday, June 5, at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT to finish out its sophomore season and joins the ATX line-up alongside the network’s freshman hit “Good Trouble,” which was previously announced.

FXX’s award-winning, long-running animated comedy “Archer” will host an advance screening of an episode from the series’ upcoming tenth season, “Archer: 1999.” This season finds Sterling Archer, Lana Kane and their crew of acid-tongued misfits onboard the M/V Seamus salvage ship as they explore deep space and try to outsmart giant aliens, intergalactic pirates and vicious bounty hunters. The screening will feature a once-in-a-lifetime, never-to-be-seen-again special version of an upcoming episode -- with an element added exclusively for the ATX audience. The screening will be followed by a conversation with the creative team behind “Archer,” including executive producer Matt Thompson, actor H. Jon Benjamin (“Sterling Archer”), producer/art director Chad Hurd, and lead storyboard artist Taylor Parrish. “Archer: 1999” premieres May 29th on FXX.

In addition, Stephen Falk, creator/executive producer/writer/director of FXX’s critically acclaimed comedy series “You’re the Worst,” will participate in a discussion with writers, producers, and advocates who are working to destigmatize the conversation around mental health and mental illness through story and visibility. Additional panelists will be announced at a later date.

Actor Kevin Bacon will join the festival’s previously announced presentation of the never-picked-up “Tremors” pilot from writer/executive producer Andrew Miller based on the 1990 film of the same name, featuring a selection of clips, a partial script reading, and discussion with cast and producers. Bacon, who was set to reprise his starring role as Valentine McKee, joins Andrew Miller, executive producer Jessica Rhoades, and cast members Toks Olagundoye, P.J. Byrne, Haley Tju, and Emily Tremaine for the panel.

ATX’s non-profit foundation, The Syndication Project, will host a programming track for the second year, with a focus on encouraging actionable advocacy through storytelling. "Making Criminal Justice Matter," presented by the ACLU, in which writers and producers, along with a criminal law expert from the ACLU, will discuss the importance of working together to ensure authentic representations of current issues surrounding criminal justice, and television’s impact on viewer opinions with regard to issues of police practices, racial profiling, and governmental and police abuses of authority. Confirmed panelists include co-showrunner/executive producer Sunil Nayar (“The Red Line”), showrunner/executive producer Joanna Johnson (“Good Trouble”), and showrunner/executive producer Anthony Sparks (“Queen Sugar”), with Twyla Carter, Senior Staff Attorney with the National ACLU's Criminal Law Reform Project, moderating. Additional panelists will be announced at a later date.

“Resistance, Inclusion, and Creating Authentic Muslim Narratives” presented by the Muslim Public Affairs Council’s (MPAC) Hollywood Bureau will examine the collaborative efforts among consultants at MPAC and creatives and executives in the industry to raise the quantity and quality of Muslim representation on and off-screen. Confirmed panelists include showrunner/executive producer Carina Adly MacKenzie (“Roswell, New Mexico”), actress Nikohl Boosheri (“The Bold Type”), and Sue Obeidi (Director, MPAC's Hollywood Bureau). Additional panelists will be announced at a later date.

The Television Academy joins The Syndication Project track with “Power(ful) TV,” a panel discussion with writers & producers on how series can rise above trends and token characters by weaving in storylines of gender, race, religion, aging, immigration, health care, and more — all with the belief that exposing audiences to a variety of people, experiences, and worlds they might never encounter will foster understanding, empathy, and community. The conversation will be moderated by Television Academy President and Chief Operating Officer, Maury McIntyre. Panelists will be announced at a later date.

Dedication/Author’s Note: This is dedicated to @writingsbychlo because she gave me the courage to write this fic a long time ago. A/N: I wrote a TW fic in 2016 with an old friend that I eventually posted. However, that person and I aren’t friends anymore and so I rebooted the fic starting from Season One of TW in my own image which Chloe gave me the courage to do also! I’m thinking of posting it in it’s entirety soon to like fanfiction.net or something. Please give me feedback and let me know what you think!

Jada’s P.O.V.

It’s Sunday night. First day of sophomore year is tomorrow and I am..excited. Yeah I mean I’m going to try out for dance, Scott and Stiles will hopefully make first line, and we’ll be slightly less unknown to the general population of Beacon High. Or at least known enough to get invited to a party, I’ve never been to a party. My phone dinged and pulled me out of my thoughts. Ah, speak of the devils - well one of them.

Troublemaker🙄: JADA! Are you awake?

Troublemaker🙄: GOOD. Cause I’m downstairs

Dude it’s like 10 at night we have school tomorrow my guy

Troublemaker🙄: there’s a dead body in the wooooods

Im putting on my shoes.

“So exactly how good is it?” I said once I got in the jeep.

“Let’s just say it’s the best thing to hit Beacon Hills in awhile.” He smiled.

“I thought I was the best thing to hit Beacon Hills in awhile.”

“A close second at best.”

“Woooow,” I said and he laughed. “Just drive the car, Stiles.”

“Hey text Scott for me would you?” Stiles said as he put the car in drive. “Let him know we’re rescuing him from boredom.”

As we drove I texted Scott but he didn’t answer of course because he’s either asleep or overthinking about lacrosse. Or both, which is entirely possible. We pulled up to Scott’s house and the light was on in his room but he still wasn’t answering either of our texts.

“I know he’s up there.” I said.

“Maybe he’s sleep?” Stiles offered.

“Nah,” I replied. “And even if he is, he’s gotta wake his ass up. I have an idea.”

While Stiles climbed up on the house I found tiny pebbles and threw them at Scott’s window. I also rustled a few leaves for good measure. I saw the light to his room go off and then I hid behind a bush with my phone. The front door opened and I had a to cover my mouth so I didn’t laugh out loud at the sight before me. Scott McCall scared, with a baseball bat.

I signaled to Stiles and then he dropped down causing both him and Scott to scream. I couldn’t take it anymore and fell down from behind the bush laughing. Scott looked from me to Stiles and then started yelling.

“Stiles what the hell are you doing!”

“You weren’t answering your phone!” Stiles yelled back defensively. “Why do you have a bat!”

“That’s a good question,” I dusted the leaves off my jeans. “Why do you have a bat?”

“I thought you were a predator or something!”

“A predator? You know what that’s not important. Listen, I saw my dad leave like twenty minutes ago. Dispatch called and they’re bringing in every officer from Beacon department and even state police.” Stiles said.

“For what?”

“There’s a body in the woods!” I jumped up and down. “Two joggers found it!”

“A dead body?” Scott’s ears perked up.

“No,” Stiles said as he jumped down from the roof. “A body of water. Yes dumbass, it’s a dead body!”

“So like murder?” Scott said.

“No one knows yet. All they know is that it was a girl and she was probably in her twenties.” Stiles explained.

“Tell him the best part.” I smiled.

“Is there a best part? If they already have the body then what are they looking for?” Scott looked at me.

“They only found half.” Stiles and I said in unison.

“Holy shit are you serious?”

“Yes!” I said. “And we’re going to everyone in the Jeep.”

On the way there we argued over which of us could find the body first, this of course went on for several minutes before I had to remind them that we’re the three musketeers for a reason and we’ll find the body together. They rolled their eyes at me but agreed nonetheless.

As well pulled up to the Preserve I could see Scott getting uneasy. “Are we really doing this?” He asked as we all got out of the car.

“Yes!” I grabbed his shoulders. “It’s gonna be awesome.”

“Besides,” Stiles said as he clicked on his flashlight. “You’re the one always bitching that nothing ever happens around here.”

“Yeah but I was trying to get a good night sleep in before practice tomorrow.” Scott said as we started to walk through the woods.

“Right,” Stiles laughed. “Cause sitting on the benches is such a grueling effort.”

“Don’t be so pessimistic,” I hit him. “You guys could get off the bench this year!”

“You’re cute,” he smiled at me.

“I’m serious!”

“She has a point you know,” Scott said. “We’re playing this year. In fact, I’m gonna make first line.”

“You know what, I admire the optimism.” Stiles said.

“Really?”

“Yes! Everyone should have a dream, even a pathetically unrealistic one.” He smiled at us.

“You’re such an asshole,” I laughed.

“Moving on,” Scott said. “Out of curiosity, do you know what half of the body we’re actually looking for?”

“You know what, I didn't even think about that.” Stiles replied. “But hey, that’s the fun part!”

“Okay, well what if whoever killed the body is still out here?”

“Also something I didn’t think about.” Stiles said.

“You didn’t really think this through did you?”

“Not really.”

“Both of you are just, tragic.” I shook my head at them.

We walked in silence for awhile until we came up to a steep incline. Scott and Stiles went up first and then they helped me up. We were all winded by the time we were all standing and the cool end-of-summer air wasn’t helping the sharp intakes of breath we were all having.

“Maybe the severe asthmatic should be the one holding the flashlight huh?” Scott exasperated as he took a hit from his inhaler.

Stiles ignored him and continued walking. I shrugged at Scott and then the two of us followed closely behind. I looked up at the moon and saw that it was full, full and absolutely beautiful. Especially on a clear night like this one. Bumping into something hard pulls me from my fixation. When I looked up I saw that I had bumped into Scott’s back. Before I could ask what the hold up was, Stiles yanked us both down. I was just about to yell at him before I saw the twinkle of other flashlights followed by police and police dogs.

Before I could acknowledge that this was probably not our best idea, Stiles bolted up and took off around the array of flashlights. Scott and I whisper yelled his name but he either didn’t hear us or ignored us because he kept going. I rolled my eyes and then we both got up and chased after him. I, a little faster than Scott who kept taking hits from his inhaler. I caught up to Stiles and was about to grab his arm when the sound of a dog barking and a light being flashed in our face caught us off guard. We fell to the ground screaming and holding onto each other.

“Oh my god please don’t kill us!” I screamed. “We’re sorry, we’ll leave! I’m only fifteen! Oh my god, Stiles this is all your fault!”

“We’re about to die and those are your last words to me, really!” He screamed back.

Only after hearing a distinctive voice did we realize we were not going to murdered. At least, not in the literal sense. “Hang on!” Sheriff Stilinski yelled. “These little delinquents belong to me.”

The officer rolled his eyes and pulled the dog away from us and then looked at us with a very, very disappointed face. “Hi, Sheriff Stilinski.” I looked down at my shoes.

“Dad,” Stiles said sheepishly.

“So,” he started. “Do you listen in on all of my phone calls?”

“No,” Stiles answered. “Not the boring ones.” I hit him in the arm and he looked at me. “What, Jada?”

Sheriff Stilinski sighed and then laughed. “Where’s the other part of the three musketeers?”

“Who Scott? Oh he’s at home. We tried to get him to come but he stayed like the good kid he is.” Stiles said.

“Yep,” I nodded. “That’s exactly where he is. He said he wanted to get a good night of sleep before the first day of school tomorrow. It’s just me and Stiles. We should really follow in his example, huh?”

“Mhm,” Stilinski smiled at me before he started pointing his flashlight. “Scott are you out there!”

I silently prayed Scott would just stay wherever he was hiding. Stilinski called his name again but he thankfully didn’t answer. He sighed and then turned his attention toward me, “Jada does your Mom know you’re out here?”

“Technically, no.” I smiled. “She’s working a double with Melissa and it would be super awesome if you didn’t call her.”

“Alright how about this,” He smiled as he put his arms around the two of us. “I’m gonna walk the two of you back to the Jeep. Stiles, you are gonna take Jada and Scott home because I know he’s around her somewhere, and then you and I are gonna have a little talk about invasion of privacy, okay?”

“Okay.” Stiles and I grumbled.

After Stiles dropped me off I texted Scott and told him to tell me when he got home and then subsequently passed out. When I woke up the next morning I was full of energy and excitement, I mean it was the first day of sophomore year! I jumped out of bed and got dressed. I did my makeup, made sure my hair looked good, took several selfies and then headed downstairs.

I walked into the kitchen to find my Mom leaning against the counter eating cereal. A matching bowl was waiting for me. “Good morning!” I said before I got a giant spoon full.

“Morning,” She smiled. “Are you excited for the first day?” When I nodded she kept talking. “You know, Sheriff Stilinski called me this morning.”

“Okay before you get mad, it was a last minute thing! And it was a dead body! Plus you know how hard it is for me to say no to my best friends.” I said.

“Your best friends as in plural or just Stiles? Cause you say no to Scott all the time.”

“Really, Mama?”

“I’m just saying you should tell him you have a crush on him.”

“No!” I said a little too loudly and a tiny gust of wind went through kitchen. “Oops, sorry. But no, you and Scott need to let it go. I’ll tell him when I’m ready, which will be never as to not upset the delicate balance of our trifecta.”

“The wind you just sent through the house says otherwise, Jada.”

I ignored her and scarfed down whatever was left of my cereal. “It’s fine, Mama. Everything is under control.”

“Uh huh,” She said as she put both of our bowls in the sink. “Let’s keep it that way,” She handed me my backpack and grabbed her keys.

We were halfway to school when she brought up the wind, or rather the cause of the wind today. “I know you already said you wouldn’t but do not use magic to help Scott or Stiles at lacrosse practice today.”

“I won’t,” I grumbled. “But when can I tell them I’m a witch? It’s literally one of the only secrets I’ve ever kept from them.”

“Soon.” She squeezed my hand. “You have good control but you still have a few slip ups like this morning, your powers are in a direct line with your emotions.”

“I know.”

“You just have to make sure you’re the one controlling the magic not the other way around, okay?”

“Okay,” I smiled as we pulled up to the school. “Thanks, Mama.”

“Of course,” she said. “Oh I see the knuckleheads.” I climbed out of the car and shut the door. She rolled down the window and blew me a kiss, “Have a good day! Remember what I said and remember I want a full report at the end of the day!”

I caught up to Stiles and Scott just as Scott was lifting his shirt to reveal a giant piece of gauze on his side. “What the hell happened!” I screamed.

“My thoughts exactly,” Stile said.

“It was too dark to see anything but I’m pretty sure it was a wolf.” Scott explained.

“A wolf?” I said. “Is that why you didn’t answer my text about when you got home?”

“Yeah,” Scott said as he put his shirt back down. “I was slightly preoccupied.”

“Nope, sorry, there’s no chance a wolf bit you.” Stiles said as we started walking into school.

“And how would you know?” Scott looked at him. “I heard the wolf howl.”

“No you didn’t,” Stiles responded.

“I know what I heard.”

“Well then you heard wrong because California doesn’t have wolves, okay? Not for like at least sixty years.”

“Ah, well then if you don’t believe me about the wolves then you’re definitely not gonna believe me when I tell you I found the other half of the body last night.” Scott smiled.

Stiles and I stopped walking and whipped around. “Holy shit, you didn’t!” I said.

“Dude I wish,” Scott said. “I’m gonna have nightmares for at least a month.”

“Nightmares! You should’ve taken a picture, I would have loved to see that!”

“Exactly!” Stiles said. “I mean this is the best thing that’s happened to this town since the birth of Lydia Martin.” I felt a pang of sadness when he said that, I mean I know he has a crush on Lydia but I was hoping maybe he would have one on me too.

Lydia was walking in our direction and Stiles smiled. “Hey Lydia,” he started but she kept walking. “You look like you’re gonna ignore me.”

Scott and I laughed, although mine was forced and Stiles rolled his eyes at us. “This is your fault, you know.”

“How is this our fault?” Scott said.

“Well it’s not Jada’s fault she’s awesome but you Scott, completely bringing us down with the nerdiness. We are nerds by association. You have scarlet nerded us.”

“We’re nerds anyway,” I rolled my eyes as we walked inside the school. “In case you forgot Stiles you and I literally spent roughly two and half days watching all the Harry Potter and Star Wars movies not even a month ago.”

“That is completely beside the point,” Stiles smiled at me.

“Is it, though?”

After that we went our separate ways before class. Stiles’ locker is on the other end of the hallway from Scott and mine which subsequently are right next to each other this year. I was taking all my books out of my locker for the week, leaving only the one I needed for our first class, when Scott slammed his locker shut.

“What!” I yelled. “Geez why are you slamming your locker like that?”

“Because you need to tell Stiles how you feel about him!”

“Keep your voice down!” I shut my locker and swung my backpack back on my shoulder. “You want the whole school to find out!”

“The whole school does know! The only people who don’t know how you feel about Stiles are you and Stiles.”

“Excuse me?”

“You like him more then you let on! Your eyes do this weird sparkle thing plus you looked like someone punched you in the stomach when he mentioned Lydia.”

“I’ll tell him when I’m good and ready okay?” Scott sighed and rolled his eyes at my comment which in turn made me skeptical. “You’re not gonna tell him are you?”

“No, God!” Scott looked at me. “I would have to sedate you if I did. I’m just saying, we’ve been the three musketeers since third grade and nothings gonna change that. Not even the two of you being together. When you get over that fear I’ll be right here.”

“Worst best friend ever,” I rolled my eyes as we walked into class.

“Love you too,” He laughed as we sat in our seats waiting for Stiles and then the teacher to arrive.

Chloe Newton x Lydia Martin

Chloe just stared up at the ceiling of Lydia's room as she talked to Allison on the phone. Summer break wasn't over yet and she was still at France with her dad, all the while everyone else just stayed put in Beacon Hills. It was understandable, considering Allison just lost her aunt then her mother soon followed.

She wondered if she should've left as well; since she, too, lost someone.

Chloe was taken away from her thoughts when she felt Lydia lie back down, just underneath her chin that her breath fanned her neck. Lydia draped an arm on Chloe's waist, one hand stroking her back while the other held the phone to her ear. She was smiling every so often as she conversed with Allison, and Chloe just stared at her fondly until they finished.

"How's she doing?"

"Fine," Lydia replied then scooted further towards Chloe and left no space between them. Chloe let her rest her head on her shoulder while she caressed her strawberry blonde hair. "She's been sightseeing. She says she hasn't gone through half her list."

"It keeps her distracted, doesn't it?" Chloe asked, though she already knew the answer. Lydia hummed in agreement. "Good for her."

As they lied there quietly, she couldn't help but imagine herself below the Eiffel Tower, a camera in hand and a thrilled expression on her face. Maybe he went with Scott (but him and Stiles are like two peas in a pod and she really doesn't want his annoying ass with them...though she'd probably still take him along 'cause he's insufferable), or her aunt, or maybe a significant other ― if she had one.

She wants one.

"Do you wanna go out?" Chloe blurted out, 'causing her to bite her lower lip in regret.

Lydia looked up at her in surprise. "You mean, like...?"

"Yeah. Yeah, like a date." She answered and looked down at her, hoping she'd say no but silently hoping she'd say yes.

"I―I don't know, Chlo..." Lydia drawled, gently squeezing Chloe's waist. "I think we should just have sex."

Chloe hummed. "Yeah, you're probably right." She looked back up at the ceiling and held her shoulder. "If I got into a relationship right now, it'd probably get complicated and I just...I don't think I can handle complicated just yet."

"But you can still talk to me. You know that, right?" Lydia mumbled and reached for her hand on her shoulder.

"Yeah," Chloe leaned down for a chaste kiss, then a small smile appeared on her lips. "I know."

My Favorite Video Games - Salem

Hiya, everyone! Hope you're having a fantastic day. Recently a game came out that I've been waiting to release for a couple years, and after playing it I was inspired to list and talk about a few of my favorite games and why they're so special to me. So, in no particular order, let's begin.

#1 Detroit: Become Human This game just came out on the 25th of last month I believe and it's already one of if not my absolute favorite game of all time. Quantic Dream has made some of my favorite games of all time (another one of which you'll see later on) and they really introduced to me how you could have a video game that gives you the same emotional impact as a book or film, only with the added element of directly involving you into the story. DBH follows the stories of Markus, Kara, and Connor, all androids navigating the world they were created to hopefully better. They each have beautifully rich stories and you become deeply invested into these characters and want to do your best to achieve the best outcomes for all of them within each of their storylines.

#2 Life is Strange This 2015 Don't nod title explores the life of Max Caulfield after returning to Arcadia Bay to attend Blackwell Academy. Then some stuff goes down and BOOM she can rewind time! You then follow her trying to figure out her rewind power with her best friend Chloe, who I love dearly, as odd things start happening in the town. This is another game with a big focus on choices, though done in a different way than Quantic Dream and more like another game we will discuss later. Your choices and how you interact with others can have consequences immediately or way later in the game. Lots of twists and turns and lots of emotional turmoil.

#3 Telltale's The Walking Dead series Ever wanted to feel your soul be forcefully ripped out of you and stomped into the ground as you sob? Then welcome to The Walking Dead by Telltale. The choices in this game are similar to how they work in Life is Strange where there's usually two main options which will impact the story, but it does stay mainly linear. Telltale has a lot of amazing series so if zombies aren't your things I'd recommend their Game of Thrones game, The Wolf Among Us, or their Batman series. But as for The Walking Dead, you start off with a man by the name of Lee Everett in the back of a cop car on his way to jail when suddenly you get into a crash. Upon getting out you see the cop who was driving has turned into a zombie as you are introduced to what the world is becoming. You stumble upon a house where you find a little girl named Clementine and the rest of the game follows your journey together trying to figure out how to navigate this new world with friends you'll meet along the way.

#4 Heavy Rain The first Quantic Dream game I ever played and has definitely shaped the kind of games I seek out to enjoy. You play as 4 characters by the names of Norman Jayden, Scott Shelby, Ethan Mars, and Madison Paige. The main plotline follows Ethan searching for his son who has been kidnapped by the Origami Killer, and seeing how far you will go to save your son. Unlike Detroit, this game has none of the futuristic element and just focuses around this serial killer and everyone trying to find Ethan's son Jason. There are a lot of very interesting character plots and dynamics and lots of twists and turns that make this game fun each time you return to it. I definitely recommend going into this game with a blind eye and not reading up on it so you can have the best initial experience possible.

#5 Vampire: The Masquerade-Bloodlines I very recently purchased this game after watching part of a walkthrough of it online and immediately wanted to play it. Fortunately for me a couple weeks later the Steam Summer sale came around and it was on sale and I immediately purchased it and have been loving it ever since. You get the option to play as one of 7 different types of vampires each with different interactions and ways of going through the game, giving a lot of replay value. While this game did come out awhile ago and there are quite a few bugs with it, with the patches fans have continued making the game runs decently smoothly so there's not as much issue. It's definitely a bunch of fun and I highly recommend it.

#6 Dead by Daylight Unlike the rest of the games so far, DBD is a multiplayer survival game where 4 players are survivors and one player is the killer. I've enjoyed playing this game for awhile now as it's just fun and there's a bit of different play styles with the different characters and perks/abilities you can assign those characters. You can play it casually from time to time like I do or you can continue to rank up until you become a top rank killer or survivor. Plus, if you have other friends with the game you can bring them in as well and go into matches together or have games with just a bunch of friends with no one else. Definitely a lot of fun and I would recommend people trying it out.

#7 Nancy Drew PC games Okay so this is a bit more general as I'm a fan of the majority of the games in this series. I started playing these games when I was about 12 or 13 with my sister and have continued since as I just genuinely like them a lot. You play as Nancy Drew, amateur detective extraordinaire. If you're familiar with the Nancy Drew book series there are two games based on books, Secret of the Old Clock and The Secret of Shadow Ranch. Whereas the rest of the games are then their own separate thing, with Nancy often travelling around the world to solve mysteries. I genuinely love a bunch of the games but some recommendations would be Warnings at Waverly Academy, Danger by Design, and Shadow at the Water's Edge, all of which are available on Steam.

#8 The Last of Us Want a rich storyline but also really creepy zombies out to kill you around every turn? Then The Last of Us is for you. I get quite spooked by this game as the clickers are some of the actual creepiest things I've seen in my entire life, but it makes it more challenging which overall I enjoy. You play as Joel who once again is just trying to survive this new world when he ends up coming along Ellie who he is told he has to smuggle away for reasons he is not immediately made aware of. The scenery in this game is gorgeous and all of the characters are nicely well rounded. Overall definitely recommend.

#9 World of Warcraft WoW is something I've been playing since I was a child though of course back then I mainly just ran around as a Night Elf not really doing anything I was told. Now I generally play Alliance as I tend to play as a Worgen druid and mainly just play up to level 20 and if I'm in the mood to continue with that character I'll buy a subscription but I tend to only focus on one game at a time so I haven't gotten super high level in anything yet but I hope to get more into it.

#10 Resident Evil/Biohazard This game is a little different to the others as I haven't really played that much of it myself but I have really fond memories of watching my sister play it on Game Cube and thinking it was so cool but was way too scared to actually play it by myself for a long period of time. I ended up as I got older watching people online play it and it's just a story line I really like and the atmosphere is super cool. I watch the Game Grumps playthrough of it and Silent Hill Shattered Memories all the time when I'm really stressed out or in a bad place and it just has a lot of positive memories and connections for me.
