I guess he was given an ultimatum. Either choose between the airpods or the cybertruck 🤣 But both are terrible, poor choices either way! Waste half of a thousand dollars on every airpod that ends up lost on street or fallen down the drain, or waste money on a truck you'll barely be able to drive around in. Like imagine being in the middle of that new york gridlock with that thing 😑

Banshee - Have you ever had a paranormal encounter? If so, do tell!
I don't think I have!! I almost wish I could say I had, I've been listening to a ton of the "listener tales" episodes of the podcast Morbid which I absolutely love, and it makes me wish I could write in with my own spooky tale, but alas, I have nothing :P Funny, I'm pretty hypervigilant towards stuff like that so maybe all the ghosties are avoiding me XD When it comes to demons and whatnot, I tend to kind of accept that they're out there but because I have a healthy respect for what they are, therefore they can't get me, and I'm not about to do anything to potentially piss them off :P
Hocus Pocus - What’s your favorite spooky season movie?
Oh my god I could go on for AGES, I love movies in general (as anyone who's talked to me or looked at my blog can probably tell), but ESPECIALLY all things spooky and creepy and scary :P
I mean, for one thing, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, my actual favorite movie of all time in general, I LOVE seeing more and more people discover this movie and appreciate it cause I've loved it since it first came out!! As for other "spooky" movies, or Halloween movies that are more fun and kid-friendly and not necessarily HORROR, I would also include Hocus Pocus, Monster House, Twitches, the Halloweentown series, and basically anything Burton has ever touched but especially Beetlejuice and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
As for actual HORROR movies that I strongly associate with Halloween and the spooky season, my go-to shortlist includes: A Nightmare On Elm Street, the Scream series, obviously Halloween (the original 1978 film and the recent 2018 sequel), and more modern instant horror classics like The VVitch and Hereditary.
Owl - What creature would you have as a familiar?
I already answered this one, but regardless, if I had to pick one for myself, I'd choose a red panda since they're kind of my favorite animal :3
Treats - What’s your favorite Halloween treat?
I'm a sucker for all things chocolate :P Though I also love Maynards candy like Swedish berries and Fuzzy Peaches, not sure if they're available everywhere but they're super popular here!!
Zombie - How long do you think you’d survive if a zombie apocalypse happened?
Oh god I have no idea XD I like to think I'd lock myself in an underground bunker and survive down there for as long as I can, but eventually I'd probably end up starving to death :P But I also think no one really knows exactly how a situation like that is gonna play out unless it actually happens, you know??

Raccoon Amaru - Canon divergent post season 2. With Kate surviving the blood well and Seth bringing her back to Jeds from the hospital to recover, Amaru finds herself in a different vessel.
La Jefe - Canon divergent post season 2 episode 9. At the blood well Kate stays up on the hill with Richie. It’s only after he’s gone down to try to take the blood for himself, in a move that is peak dumbass, that Kate has to intervene. With Richie wounded by a Xiblaban weapon and lying useless in the backseat of the car it’s up to Kate to deliver the blood and unwittingly become the new La Jefe, the head of Malvado’s empire. Seth lives his best life as a sugar baby and Richie is crying in a corner because he's supposed to be the boss.
Wild West AU - Wild West likely with supernatural elements. Kate frees Seth from the jail in Bethel the night before he's set to hang in exchange for him helping her track down her brother who disappeared with Carlos six months earlier. (Also the memorial piece for my mare, Bandit, who passed away almost a year ago and will be written in as Seth's horse.)
SethKate Wedding Date AU - Modern Day. No culebras. Kate is invited to her cousin's wedding and decides to ask Seth to be her date
“He’s not just my date, Scott.” A maniacal grin spreads over Kate’s face. “He’s my weapon. You really think I’m gonna walk in there with all their passive aggressive, pretending to be concerned comments? No, Scott. I’m going to fight fire with fire.”
“That’s not fighting fire with fire Kate. That’s fighting fire with a nuclear warhead!”
Shangri-La - Canon divergent post season 2. With Eddie in critical condition and his chances of survival slim, the Geckos chose to go through with the plan to rob Malvado, even managing to save Kate’s life in the process. After coming back from their meeting with the lords, their relief at the news of Eddie’s survival is soon eclipsed by the sheer panic of realizing they now have to explain to him that not only did they pull his Shangri-La, swan song job without him, but they also lost the money.
Hero Twins AU - Canon divergent post season 2 episode 2. Kate reveals to Seth that she's pregnant during their fight in the car. After Sonja gets Seth clean, and with Eddie's help they hide away from the culebra world. 7 years later Richie and Kisa come crashing in with the news that their daughters are the next set of Hero Twins, destined to shake up the culebra and Xibalban hierarchy.
This leans very heavily into Mayan mythology, including a bibliography of academic sources, that will be included. It could be considered an exploration of the hero twin archetype told through Seth and Kate's fictional twins.
Witch AU - Modern day with supernatural elements. No culebras. Kate comes from a line of witches cursed to die when they begin to manifest their magical abilities. When she starts to have visions of her own death she goes to a professor of the occult Richard Gecko to try to figure out why her family keeps dying young. A witch himself, he tries to help her figure out the curse along with Seth who has turned his back on his supernatural abilities. It's a race against the clock to see if they can save Kate before her visions of her death come true.
Selkie AU - Coming home from college to attend her mother's funeral, Kate finds a package Jenny had left her. Kate's seal skin and an explanation of what she is. After going out to learn more about who she is her skin is stolen and she has to rely on the owner of a nearby bar, Seth Gecko, and his friends to steal back her skin.

I’m back(ish)! Since I’ve been gone so long, I thought I could use this tag game from @alwaysupatnight to catch people up on some stuff I’ve watched while I was away. Here goes:

Last Movie: Renfield, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, 65, No Exit, Werewolf: The Beast Among Us, Wolves, Freaks, Prey, Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Thor: Love and Thunder.
Last Show: Finished The Expanse! And Travelers. Watched all of Shadow and Bone, Wayne, and Arcane. First season of Russian Doll. Caught up on Cobra Kai and Stranger Things. And I rewatched Eureka and Primeval: New World all the way through again.
Currently Watching: Just started the new Mandalorian season, also watching Arrow (Season 4) and The Flash (Season 2) with my brother for the first time. I’m mid rewatch of my least favorite season of Falling Skies. Rewatching W1A with my dad. Also I need to pick up The English again soon.
Currently Reading: Just started Frostbite by David Wellington on audiobook. And I have a whole slew of SethKate fics to catch up on, so I am very excited about those!
Currently Working On: Cleaning out my drafts - SethKate stuff, AU Stuff, some color palettes, a Scott thing for a trend that I am sure is firmly dead but I’m finishing anyway. Even worked on a few vids recently, so maybe one of those will be out soonish

end of 2020 fandom asks: 7, 9, & 14!!
7. Which character did you relate to most this year?
Karen Page, hands down. I feel such an affinity for her. We are so similar in so many ways and I think that is the reason I adore her so much!
9. Recommend something that you really enjoyed in 2020.
2020 was a crazy year for everyone - including me. Overnight, I was working from home and teaching the 3rd grade at the same time. I wanted to start writing again this year -- it didn’t happen, I wanted to start a fandom podcast -- it didn’t happen, but was I did do was read a lot. I recently finished the All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness and LOVED it. If you enjoy books with a strong female heroine with witches, vampires, and demons - check it out.
14. What do you want to do more of next year?
Write. I miss it so much. I need to just get over this hump of the last 3 years and do it again. Fingers crossed that it happens.

Merry Christmas to @alwaysupatnight I was your secret Santa. I hope you enjoy this. I had a ton of fun with your prompts. - Strangers seated together on a plane (with some extras) :)
Up In The Air
Long flights had never been his favorite, he wasn’t afraid of flying, but he didn’t like being packed into an overcrowded space that he couldn’t just leave. But the paycheck had been more than worth it. Three weeks, all expenses paid, in Hawaii as an “authenticity expert” showing some Hollywood pretty boy how to pick locks was one way to put his former thief skills to good use. Now Seth Gecko was heading back to Chicago on an overnight flight, eight solid hours in the air, and of course, it was overbooked. He squeezed through the aisle, looking for his seat and to his horror, there was a toddler jumping up and down on the seat next to the one that matched his ticket.
Shit. Maybe he’d go opt for that next flight he’d been offered. Another night in paradise, even on his own dime, was looking far more appealing. His heavy coat was zipped in his carry-on and he put it in the overhead compartment before stepping into the space in front of his seat.
“STANGER!” The red-headed kid squealed out and flattened himself against the window.
He blinked trying to think of something to say and a way to look less threatening.
“It’s okay sweetie, we’re trying to get you switched to sit with me.” A blond woman three aisles back and across the aisle called out to the kid.
He was going to offer to switch himself, he didn’t want to sit in the crowded middle section, but it would be better than this.
“Oh, of course. Noah, come sit with your mom.” Another voice called out and the toddler almost took him out at the knees getting around him. Then the voice was closer to him, “Looks, like I’m your new neighbor.”
To say that his neighbor was an improvement would be a gross understatement. Auburn hair, hazel eyes, and a smile far too bright considering the duration of the flight they were about to take made this trip look less like a nightmare, maybe.
“Here let me, let you get by.”
She thanked him and put her bag in the upper compartment, then slipped into the window seat of their row. “This is way better than a middle seat.”
He nodded and sat down. “Leg room’s a bit better in this row too.”
“I’m not too worried about that. I’m short and I squish pretty easy.” She retrieved her phone from her purse and a set of headphones.
Headphones; he always fucking forgot them. The amount of in-flight purchased headphones he owned was truly and stupidly impressive. He’d deal with it when they got up in the air.
Takeoff went smoothly and after all the inflight instructions, the cabin settled down as the meal was served. His neighbor was quiet and kept to herself, but he didn’t miss her chuckle when he insisted on regular instead of decaf coffee. By hour three he was regretting not having noise-canceling headphones as a baby started crying.
“Here, I have an extra pair.” His seatmate offered the unopened package to him.
He smiled, “Thanks. You’re a lifesaver…” He trailed off.
“Kate. I’m Kate, and you’re welcome. No need to suffer if you don’t have to.”
“Thank you, Kate. I’m Seth.” He extended his hand and she shook it. “Coming back from vacation?”
“Winter break. I was supposed to fly back with my friends yesterday but the flight was overbooked.” She sighed, “Sleeping on the floor of the airport was not fun.”
“They left you?” He was instantly annoyed. How do you leave someone behind like that?
“Oh I didn’t mind, they were a couple. It was kinda nice to get a break from them.” She laughed. “I didn’t realize they were going to basically ignore me the entire trip, but at least I got a lot of great pictures and some good video clips.”
“The island is pretty for sure.”
“The lighting was incredible. You don’t get colors like that in rural Texas. And Chicago is so urban, which has its own lighting charm, but that much light and the vibrancy of the colors in the flowers and animals - it was beyond what I could have imagined. I think I have my new junior project for the end of the year.” She excitedly explained then bit her lip. “Sorry, I got carried away.”
He chuckled. “No worries. Photography student, I take it?”
“Film. I want to get into lighting design. There was a movie being filmed on the island, I tried to sneak a peek from the sidelines but no such luck.”
“They were shooting indoors all last week.” He informed her before cursing. “But since I signed an NDA we could forget that I mentioned that.”
She pretended to zip her lips, “Consider it forgotten, but off the record…”
They spent the next few hours joking back and forth about the ‘hypothetical’ film sets he’d been a part of rating the accuracy of various criminal activities. He ordered a drink and let her have half since she was shy of her 21st birthday and they shared the trail mix she pulled out of her purse.
At some point, he must have dozed off because he woke up when the lights in the plane came back on. Kate, however, was still sleeping leaning on his shoulder. He smiled and closed his eyes, enjoying the calming effect she had on him. That was rare for him, he didn’t calm down around many people. Rough childhood caused trust issues or so his therapist kept telling him.
The plane started its descent and she jumped awake with a gasp, but he squeezed her hand, “Just landing, nothing to worry about, Princess.”
“Oh, I’m a princess now?”
“You charmed me for eight hours, that’s Disney level magic.”
She laughed and didn’t pull her hand away from his, “I’ll have to learn to play the ukulele and start singing to the woodland creatures.”
“I’m sure your voice could charm them into helping you clean.”
He stood up and reluctantly let go of her hand, grabbing her carry-on and his. “You have to go to baggage claim?”
“Yeah. You?”
“Yup.” They got off the plane and into the jet bridge, the bite of the Chicago winter hitting instantly.
“Brrr. I didn’t miss this.” She kept pace with him and as they got into the airport the windows gave a view of the winter storm swirling outside. “Ugh. It’s gonna be a pain to catch a cab in this.”
“I have a car. My brother dropped it off in the parking garage. I can give you a ride if you want.” He unzipped his carry-on and pulled out his coat.
“That’s so smart, I packed my coat in my checked bag.” She commented, “I mean, if you don’t mind, a ride would be great.”
“That’s settled then.” He smirked, “Breakfast is on me.”
“How do you figure?” Kate rubbed her arms.
“You shared your snack, it’s only fair.” He explained and held out his coat, “Here, until we get yours. You look cold.”
“And they say chivalry is dead.” She teased as she put her arms through the sleeves.
“Chivalry nothing, I’m trying to get a breakfast date with a princess. I don't get that chance too often.”
“Oh I see…”
It was a little silly fluffy thing. But I really hope you enjoy it.

the texas chainsaw massacre: what’s ur favorite food? Hmm.. a tough one right out the gate! lol I have a deep, unwavering love of tacos. I'm pretty sure I could eat tacos every day without getting sick of them. For a runner up: fajitas, but they do come with more downsides in the expense and prep categories. But if we're talking about food as less of a meal and more of a base ingredient, potatoes are where it's at for me.
the ring: if u could visit/live anywhere in the world, where would u? I do like where I live, so I'll go with visit: Ireland (I have some fairly recent ancestors that came over from there in the early 20th century) Australia (for the wildlife) and maybe for a more plausible roadtrip either the east coast of the United States for the ocean or west for the mountains? South for friendship purposes lol. But I've got no interest in any major city touring.
silence of the lambs: what’s something ur looking forward to? My aunt moving into her new apartment. She's been staying with me since a double whammy of post shoulder surgery + the end of a lease, and it has been an experience that I think we are all looking forward to ending haha. Just waiting on the final bit of paperwork to come in the mail, fingers crossed/pray to whatever god y'all believe in that it shows up on Monday.
saw: give a controversial opinion >:3 OH, YOU. Such a troublemaker 🤣 You probably already know most of my opinions, controversial or not, but here's my attempt at a new one: I think people on here vastly underestimate just how bad Tumblr is as a primary source of information. WHICH, isn't what it's designed for, to be fair! But as bad as other social media sites are at encouraging false, misleading, or clickbait-ey headlines with no real news to circulate, I think a lot of people don't realize those flaws very much exist here too, and they are more included to trust things they see since it feels like it's coming from our community.
Just like everyone should always be wary of corporations and people in power trying to present the news and events in the world in a way that benefits them, we should also be wary of the often emotionally driven circulation of facts from our peers too. And posts on here discourage some really important safeguards like easily accessible updates or corrections- the way each post creates a separate spreadable copy post means that even attempted updates/corrections will often never be seen. Heck, half the time the comments on a post include some potentially vital missing piece that are just... invisible to most people!
I think independent and diverse journalism and perspectives and experiences are absolutely vital to discovering what is true and what is false and what is still unknown. But personally, I find Tumblr most effective as an alert to what people are talking about, be it an often scarily fast alert lol. But I always try and go offsite and look into things more afterwards, even for something as small and potentially low stakes as a helpful tip about where to find a more ethical product or company. wip wednesday woot woot
ok so @alwaysupatnight and @sentientdroids tagged me a million years ago but hey everything works out cause today is wednesday! here is a fic i’m working on - the beginning of a sethkate fic from from dusk till dawn the series. also to anyone who is curious, i am still working on memories of the west lmao
She knew Seth saw heaven as a beach, as a place you could buy your way into, but she saw it differently. Maybe not pearly white gates and sunbeams and streets of gold - not anymore. But it was still a holy place, and Kate had never felt further from it.
Seth was close, his breath angry and quick against her face. It wasn’t the first time he’d tried to back her down like this, but it was the first time she felt close to breaking.
“You want out?” he said. The inside of the car was dark, but his eyes were clear and terrible. “Get the fuck out then.”
Kate chewed down her own words, kept herself breathing. Behind her was the open door. Freedom. The only thing she’d prayed for after she’d first met Seth, in that RV, with his batshit brother and her dad barely holding on and Scott with his stupid gun and homicidal hatred for lacrosse players.
Seth was all around her now, too close to think, so she shut her eyes for a moment, imagined getting out of the car, telling him something that might cut him to the bone. Cut through all the layers of his bullshit and heroin haze.
Kate took one big, deep breath and yanked the passenger door shut. She opened her eyes, met his. “Just drive,” she said.
