I wonder if age/generation has a lot of bearing on the decrease of fandom meta; like, the age of understood concepts/etiquette like “don’t like don’t read” or simply choosing not to interact w interpretations you don’t like aren’t really a thing anymore. People in general seem to have gotten way more aggro with conflicting ideas/interpretations and specific “fanon” tends to get established very decisively. Not to mention the larger internet culture has changed to be so, idk, personal? like sometimes i just see how younger people behave/interact on twitter or tiktok and they can be SO aggressive and eager to make someone out in the worst light possible, stuff like that, idk if this makes sense but yeah. culture changes, I guess
Oh, I have to disagree with you anon. "Don't like don't read" started because people had to be told that, told it often, told it frequently. The flamewars back in the day about things as innocuous as "who tops" were once legendary, after all. My experiences on LJ were full of constant drama, much of it nasty as fuuuuuck. Back in my day, making someone's beloved blorbo gay could get you death threats.
I don't think what has changed is any of that as much as the delivery mechanism. What did used to be easier, IME, was choosing how and where to interact to minimize unwanted contact with the people having those bad faith arguments, and the way those arguments were confined to static spaces once upon a time. Web 2.0 didn't make people act worse, but it did make sure that folks acting badly were algorithmically boosted on basically every platform. It's the reblog thing again, isn't it? A stupid take on a forum or a personal blog or even a community might get linked around (who else was there for fandom_wank, shout out), but it didn't get endlessly reproduced. I am wary of arguments fandom culture got "more toxic" in the abstract because I think it obfuscates the role that centralized platforms and especially the corporate idea of "user content" as something to be treated as a kind of resource to be exploited play in our current... situation? Twitter needs a main character to boost engagement to sell ads in a way that web 1.0 spaces just couldn't dream of. And the end result for everyone is that by design, avoiding the nobodies with rancid takes and ongoing drama is simply not possible now. No closed ecosystems. There's a reason the very common request for Tumblr to implement a "make this post unsearchable" function is unlikely to happen. (I'm still astonished they gave in on reblog controls, frankly.)

hi there, i really truly don't want this to sound like i am speaking only to you specifically, but you seem to have a lot of anons approach you about this topic, so please bare that in mind with what i'm about to say. i think people in general need to stop talking about fort and peat's supposed sex lives like they know them personally and are speaking on their behalfs. it feels a bit disrespectful to me. by all means, speculate away about their characters, i'll be the first in line to talk about that, but to talk about fort and peat in that way is wrong. they're real people with real lives. and the fact that i've seen discussions where people speculate about their sexualities and whether they're having sex with each other in real life isn't fair to them. yes, we see a lot of them in our daily life, yes, they indulge us and flirt with each other, but that's a big part of them just doing their jobs. it's called fanservice for a reason. does that mean they don't genuinely love and care about each other? no. but in reality, we don't actually know these boys. and to sit in front of our computers and speculate whether these two very real boys are having sex with each other is a little strange to me. and i do not use this phrase lightly when i say that it does sometimes feed into the fetishizing fandom culture that can be so toxic amongst the queer community. and it needs to be called out and stopped when it borders on that kind of territory. and i'm hoping by sending this message you and your followers might take a step back and see where i'm coming from. i'm not being cruel or trying to police anyone, just merely pointing out that we should all maybe try and set boundaries for the parasocial relationships we have with these boys.
Well hello there.
Clearly you are trying to police me and the people who have come to my blog. If there is something that's clearly making you uncomfortable then there is a button called BLOCK which you have every right to use. But you do not get to come to my blog and blame me for something that I didn't do. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN RESPECTFUL WITH FORTPEAT AND THEIR LIVES.
If you think that its all fanservice then that's your opinion, you don't see me coming to you and shoving down my thoughts down your throat. And I can't control what the anons send me and even if they have then I have always answered them in a way that never crosses the line.
For the record just coz we love Fortpeat and the love they have for each other doesn't mean that we are fetishizing them. Again if what you see on your timeline feels disrespectful for YOU then please block me for all I care. Curate your TL which is suitable for you. These boys have made some of my worst days into the brightest and if you can't understand where I am coming from and the love I have for them then that's your problem.
My blog is my safe space and I am sure that it's the same for atleast one person out there as well and that's more than enough for me.
And for the record my asks barely get one like or sometimes it's none. And anon I am not shouting about this in a public space like twt and tagging them. This is as private as one can be and you know what it's people like you who make it weird and wrong to talk about two humans who are affectionate with each other.
Again please feel free to use the block button. 🙏🙏 It saves us both the headache of ever having to interact.
(P.S. I can totally be nice to people who are nice to me but if someone comes into my blog and accuses me of something that I clearly haven't done so, then the "nice" is out the door)

Can you explain in a thread why you don’t like Marco?
First of all, I wanna give you a quick shout-out, whoever you are! You're the first person outside of my main fandom (KNB) to send me a request that's civilized and actually something I'd like to talk about so thank you! Reason number one would be, well, on my blog I've already mentioned various times that I don't like characters who abuse kids, and Marco is definitely not without corporal punishment himself. Whilst I like Ren and Jun, I also dislike the rest of the Tao family and Hao as he was mentally an adult throughout the story who didn't mind hurting and killing children (attempting to eat the souls of the Hana-Gumi waitresses for one, when two of them were still young girls is just unacceptable to me). Reason number two would be his brainwashing of Iron Maiden Jeanne and turning her into a murderer. That she forgave him for it doesn't means the audience has to. Children have a certain loyalty to their parents/caretaker figures that in abusive situations can be rather binding and making the child in question creating excuses, forgiving their parents when they shouldn't and see them with a loving kindness because they are the kid's rolemodel in life. Which brings me to reason number 3, the way Marco got absolved of all the sins he has done. Sure, he repented... By becoming a literal angel. That's rewarding him for repenting, and that is something I see as fucked up. That's one of the reasons why I respect Joco as a character- he literally blinded himself, and turnt himself in to serve time in prison for everything that he had done, continuing to carry the stamp of his prison sentence with him on his records for the rest of his life. Joco chose to repent, with no rewards, only more drama, awaiting him. That takes a whole lot of courage. Meanwhile Marco on the other hand, went on to power up in an attempt to say sorry for everyone, whilst Jeanne paid the price for the sins the X-Laws had comitted with her life. The only thing I could possibly say about that is, "Screw you Marco. I don't care if you soul 'could have shattered' because did that happen? No. The only price you actually had to pay was becoming a boy all over again. Oh boo hoo." However, I do think the Shaman King series has a problem with accountability in the first place. Children who were essentially brainwashed or didn't knew any better were held fully accountable for their crimes and didn't blame any of the adults for teaching them these things and blame themselves instead. Whilst the adults had to pay little to no price for the shit they did. I do find that harmful and victim-blaming. Reason number 4, his obsession with Jeanne. I mean, that Jeanne watch that Reiheit tried to give Teruko because he didn't have an engagement ring implies the X-Laws have Jeanne-merch. They have their own 'X' chant, which is more used as a Jeanne fanchant in the series, then it is a thing of everyone (including Jeanne) does. The way Marco himself admits he probably would have shot Ren during his wedding with Jeanne had he been there. Having been around the K-POP scene since 2010, Marco very much reminds me of a toxic fangirl that's one step away from becoming a full blown sasaeng. Just that scene of Lyserg faking Jeanne with an oversoul, and Marco being like, "the chastity belt was incorrect, that's the most important part", is seriously creepy to me. I mean, he considers the most important detail of Jeanne's appearance her chastity belt?! For fuck's sake. I can definitely see that a Shaman King reader who doesn't knows much about idol culture and how Marco is clearly written as if he were a toxic idol fan, to be like, 'Wait, the chastity belt is the most important thing? Hold on, the X-Laws are Christian coded... Do they touch little kids?!' (considering the Church's massive cover up of child sexual abuse). That scene definitely reads capital ICKY either way. Being actually obsessed with a little girl's purity as a grown man is just disgusting. So... Overall I find Marco to be an abusive creep who got off too easy, and that is why I don't like him.

A Note from the Admin
It’s been a wild year for the blogging community. Too wild, actually.
Twitter has become a toxic place to interact with our followers and people are leaving it in droves (thanks, Musk).  Additionally, AI has taken over Google search results which means a lot of the content we were known for has been pushed down and, frequently, moved entirely off the first page.  Add on the usual longstanding website scrapers, who steal our content for their own website wholesale without permission, and we’ve seen a dramatic decrease in revenue.  We made less than half of what we made in 2022 in 2023.  And we don’t make a lot of money to begin with, so this has hit us pretty hard.
None of us have been able to do this full-time, though for many of us that is the dream. We don’t make what writers truly should for the work we put in, but we do it because we’re passionate about geek culture.  Our advertising revenue is split among all the contributors based on their work volume, which means everyone who contributes to this website has been impacted by the Twitter and AI issues.  As we were already struggling before, we’re absolutely floundering for revenue now.
Due to these dramatic changes, we have updated our Patreon with new tiers and kindly ask that you help support us through that avenue if you are able.
New Patreon Perks
The Zoo $3 – Everyone who pledges $3 a month will have access to our monthly wrap-up.  This will be posted to Patreon, and we will work on getting it delivered directly to your inbox as well.
The Aviary $5 – Our most popular perk – a shout-out on the website and an optional link at the foot of our page – is still here for the same price.  Only now you also get the monthly wrap-up as well.
Bird Feeders $8 – Get all of the above, plus twice annual stickers.  These stickers will be themed around fandom, LGBTQ+ themes, and general Geekiary content.  If our budget allows, we will send out more than two a year.  Think Pride and Christmas-themed special editions!  But we have to have enough pledges to make that happen.
The Top Perch $15 – Get all of the above, plus at least once annual merchandise shipped to you.  This merchandise will vary, consisting of things like lanyards, pens, buttons, and maybe even shirts!  The themes of the merchandise will be similar to what we’re offering for the stickers, and we will ship more than one per year if we get enough pledges.
Announcements for sticker and merchandise designs will be posted on social media.  Anyone who pledges in the first six months (for stickers) or year (for other merch) will get what’s announced in the first post.
If you want to support us through Patreon, CLICK here.
Thank you for your continued support.  We appreciate you.

I must say that this has proven to me that Twitter is the worst social media platform for fandoms. There are pockets of hatred on IG and Tumblr but my god, Twitter is a brainless mob for the most part. I’ve seen logical and calm push back on here and there’s a big Wednesday page on Facebook with 300k members and not a single shitty post about Percy - the admins forbid it. Everything that’s wrong with cancel culture stems from Twitter
There are a lot of people fighting the good fight for percy on twitter! They mostly turned the chatter around on the main #s for a few days now.
But yeah, after this shout out to them - I agree with you. I personally don’t use twitter for close on 10 years now, because it’s too toxic for me.
Also, people there mostly don’t know how to fact check before reposting. I see TikTok getting the mantle of worst social media platform in a few years though.

A Reminder for Drake and Others: Tory Lanez Is Not a Martyr
It’s disappointing, but not surprising, to see Drake advocate for Tory Lanez after being convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion
By Andre GeeFebruary 27, 2024
It’s disappointing, but not surprising, to see Drake advocate for Tory Lanez after being convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion
Drake compels the masses like a seasoned advertising director. He knows sharing something as simple as a new hairdo will strangle social media for days on end. So when he called for Tory Lanez’s freedom on his Instagram story, he knew it would garner similar visibility as activists screaming “Free Meek Mill” from the streets of Philadelphia. On Monday, Drake posted a picture of Tory and “3 You,” a version of “Free You” where the three were set to represent open handcuffs.
“Free [Insert Person”] is standard cultural parlance in communities of color. “Free Meek” was a stand against the Philly rapper’s prolonged probation. “Free Mumia [Abu-Jamal]” is about amplifying a freedom fighter who people believe was unjustly convicted. Other times, like with “Free Bobby Shmurda,” it can be a complicated admission that even if we know someone did wrong, we understand that systemic inequality can encourage bad choices from good people, essentially creating a long-looping form of entrapment.
You may scream “free” someone as an advocate, loved one, or an empathizer. But screaming “Free Tory Lanez,” is an asshole move.
Popular on Rolling Stone
Last August, Tory was sentenced to 10 years in California State Prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. In December 2022, he was convicted of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
He’s on a recorded call apologizing to Megan’s former friend Kelsey for an unknown grievance that many deduce to be Megan’s shooting. During testimony, Kelsey called the notion that she shot Megan “ridiculous.” A witness in the trial testified that he saw a “shorter man,” alleged to be Tory, firing “four to five” shots and then beating Megan as she lay bleeding in a fetal position. But despite the mountain of evidence suggesting his guilt, Drake, Chris Brown, Meek Mill, and others have since expressed solidarity with Tory. Are they saying they don’t believe Megan, or that they don’t care what happened to her?
Editor’s picks
Since that night, people treated the shooting like a soap opera or binary of fandom instead of a traumatic incident that someone should atone for. On “Cobra,” Megan rapped about dealing with depression, alcohol dependency, and suicidal ideation since being shot. Her account of that night was scrutinized by armchair sleuths, and she was relentlessly lampooned by entertainers and consumers. Tory even took part in the circus, chopping a horse leg in his “CAP” video. As I noted before about Tina and Ike Turner, hip-hop has a penchant for playing too much, perhaps because many of its progenitors are so predisposed to toxic behavior and violence that we don’t know how to take domestic violence seriously. But that dynamic almost always turns into disrespecting women survivors, and it’s no excuse for how Megan is being treated.
Drake’s had several weird dustups with women in recent years. During a recent stop on his Big As The What tour, he made a point to play “Work” with Rihanna, then tell the crowd that he doesn’t perform the song anymore. That comes after dissing her and A$AP Rocky on For All The Dogs’ “Fear of Heights.” And, more alarmingly, he’s shouted out rapper and friend Baka Not Nice, who in 2015 pled guilty to assaulting a 22-year-old woman who he was charged with forcing into sex trafficking. The woman didn’t testify in the case, so he wasn’t tried on the latter charge. While Baka was incarcerated, Drake rhymed, “I might declare it a holiday as soon as Baka get back on the road,” on 2015’s “Know Yourself.” Would women be invited to that celebration? Perhaps Drake should head to his room full of bras and reflect on whether he genuinely cares about the humanity of any of the former owners.
It’s unclear when he and Megan, who were pictured together in 2019, first fell out. In 2022, he rapped “this bitch lie ’bout getting shots, but she still a stallion” on Her Loss’ “Circo Loco.” Last summer, he made it a point to snidely clarify “not that Meg,” while shouting out photographer MegYup during his It’s All A Blurtour. And now, after Megan may have dissed him on “Hiss” (she intentionally refrained from naming names so hit dogs could holler) he’s advocated for her attacker.
Related
Drake isn’t the first person to speak up for Tory post-sentencing, either. Chris Brown, who assaulted Rihanna and has been accused of over 20 instances of violence (many against women), called to “Free Tory” on streamer Adin Ross’ live stream, calling Tory “a solid dude.” His morally questionable comments are unsurprising.
Last July, Meek Mill screamed “Free Tory” while performing at Rolling Loud Portugal. He later doubled down, tweeting, “I say free young thug … free lucci … free melly I don’t even know why y’all start dealing with us if yall gone try to smear us.’ Of course, there is a layer of nuance. Anti-prison abolitionists believe that the justice system is inherently racist and should be uprooted. But even those progressives didn’t feel much sorrow when Tory was convicted because of his conduct and arrogance throughout the leadup to the trial. Restorative justice advocates believe there can be a world where people who commit violence can take accountability, and apologize to the person they hurt, and everyone can heal without the need for incarceration.
There is a belief that the modern justice system, which essentially requires a suspect to deny their guilt, doesn’t help a survivor heal, and the dehumanizing conditions of prison certainly aren’t a rehabilitative environment for violators. Some abolitionists may believe that Tory shouldn’t be incarcerated because prisons shouldn’t exist in the first place. That is a complicated discussion. But it’s also not likely that Drake, Brown, or Meek were saying “Free Tory” from an abolitionist lens — they were just trying to support the boys club.
Trending
Despite Tory’s conviction, the bowels of the gossip blogosphere, run by misogynistic podcasters and streamers, still cling to rumors of suppressed videos and secret witnesses and anything else that may appear out of fairy dust to legally absolve the Toronto artist and affirm their twisted belief that women are never to be trusted. It’s sad to think that so many of music’s biggest names enabling that cohort.
Despite their increasingly blatant misogynoir, artists like Drake still boast devoted fanbases who will propel him to record-breaking streaming numbers and refer to him as their figurative “husband.” It’s more proof that advocacy for a convicted violator of a Black woman isn’t a cardinal sin. If anything, it’s the norm. How long will we let that be the case?

I've been listening to my RVB Mercs/Lolix playlist kinda nonstop for the past couple of weeks and it has me HELLA nostalgic for Red vs Blue.
But I can't help but feel like it's been tainted as a whole by RT's kinda skuzzy turn in the past few years. The way they've treated their talent, the fact they have defended pieces of shit up until someone had to come up with all the receipts as to WHY that person is a piece of shit...all of it has just made it very hard for me to enjoy the series anymore.
It sucks because I love Red vs Blue. It's such a dumb, enjoyable series, especially in the later seasons. I adored everything with the Project Freelancer stuff and then with the Chorus trilogy. I love Felix and Locus but fuck is it hard to enjoy the series without it being in the back of my mind how shitty RT apparently is behind the scenes. And I'm not saying everyone is a piece of shit but they have clearly encouraged a very toxic culture and now I'm afraid to even say I am/was a fan.
It just...sucks.
Because now I have to be conscientious of my consumerism regarding the company. I technically own all the seasons save for the last two or three but it's a pain in the ass having to deal with DVD's. It's not on Netflix anymore so if I WANTED to rewatch them I'd have to either break out my DVD's because I don't want to give them traffic on YT or on their site. :/ And yeah maybe I'm being overly dramatic here but I am really not comfortable giving RT anymore of my cash. I did purchase some of the seasons as bundles through online streaming a while ago so I do have that as an alternative to giving them add revenue on YT. I just don't have seasons 1-5 or anything after the Chorus Trilogy. And yeah I guess I could just buy them through vudu or something like that so RT isn't getting the full profit from it and maybe that's what I will do one day when my nostalgia gets so strong I can't resist going back and rewatching the show.
It's just mired in this bitter taste now. Hell, RVB is how I got INTO Halo as a fandom. I'd always judged it by the rude dudebros shouting expletives and using the N-word in voicechat rep that the series had and just wrote it off. Then I watched RVB and it got me curious about the Halo universe so I read the first tie-in novel and I was fucking hooked. Now Halo is my second favorite sci-fi series outside of Star Wars and it has this AMAZING extended universe with all these awesome books and characters beyond just the Master Chief and I have RVB to thank for my initial hook into the series. And even THAT has been kinda tainted by association. I am still buying Halo novels and one day will own an Xbox again so I can play the newer games etc. And you can DEFINITELY make an argument that Microsoft/343 is 10x worse than RT.
But I guess that's where you have to make your own choices on how you are going to interact with a problematic creator/creative team when it comes to voting with your dollar. And I definitely feel for like say the HP fandom and the struggles they have to face when it comes to JKR being a huge piece of shit. I get it, it sucks.
It just...definitely makes me sad and bummed out I can't support a company I used to enjoy and thought was pretty cool. :/
EDIT: Also? My Lolix playlist? Is fucking AWESOME and full of certified bangers and I will continue to listen to it prolly till the world or I end. Pffft. And continue to curate with all the care and exacting standards of a true 90's kid trying to burn their perfect CD/Mixtape.
If you know, you know. 🤣

From the reddit files:
Context: Someone said how much they loved Between Us, and that they hoped Boun was gay. Commenters immediately got upset because PRIVACY.
My comments:
I don't disagree that there are fans who get out of hand and are toxic.
But I think we're skirting a real line of homophobia and heteronormativity here, in that we're coming perilously close to "privacy = assume actors are straight until they tell ME they're not." That's no better than assuming queerness, as I'm sure you can see. In fact, it upholds a power structure that continues to make it hard for actors to come out on their own terms.
Further, it increasingly bothers me when straight folks do it, because I feel that they're doing the same thing you're saying the other side is doing; perhaps some straight women are invested in actors being straight because it fulfills a fantasy of theirs. Surely you can see that there's a problem when straight people shout down queer people and tell them to keep their feelings to themselves.
I'm not saying I want actors to be outed, or to come out if it's not what they want. But I am saying that putting the kibosh on any talk about sexuality by yelling "It's PRIVATE" is playing straight (ha!) into the hands of heteronormative and patriarchal culture.
(Also FWIW, though this does not apply to me as a queer lady, I sympathize with folks who want to see queer men repping queer men on screen. I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting someone who is like you to be on screen playing someone who is like you. It's why fat folks like me want to see actual fat folks on screen, not skinny people in fat suits. There's a real power to marginalized folks claiming space on screen.)
****
Second response to someone, who said I had a problem because I assumed that they thought privacy = straight and it doesn't, okay?!?!?! after the jump.
I'm not assuming anything about you. I never ONCE mentioned that you think those things, I only said that there's a danger in going too far. I don't even know you, and I don't see your name above in this thread. I never said the poster above was doing this; if you're reading it that way, uh, maybe examine why that is.
I will say that I don't come to this idea (privacy = straight) lightly, and I know I'm not the only person who has started to see this pattern, because fandom twitter is talking about it right now.
You throw around a couple phrases: "police a series of ideas" "values based assumption" that are just...nonsense. Sorry. They don't MEAN anything.
I'm interested in a nuanced discussion of how certain things that fandom (as a whole, NOT YOU INDIVIDUALLY) coalesce around can be harmful and/or uphold heteronormative/patriarchal ideas.
I specifically never said that I know what sexuality people are, and I never said that I need to know. I did say that I'm against actors being outed, and that I'm against actors coming out if they don't want to be out. I never said I want to speculate on which actors are gay and which aren't. I never said that private and personal lives of actors "enter my head". I simply said that there is a conversation to be had about sexuality and queerness in the BL industry, and that some fans shutting it down because "PRIVACYYYYY" is upholding heteronormative and patriarchal norms, and you haven't said anything that convinces me otherwise.
tl;dr: This isn't about YOU individually, or the individual posters above. It's about fandom as a whole, and about how fandom understands queerness amongst the people who work in the industry. Any time that discussion starts to happen, it gets shouted down amidst a cacophony of comments about privacy.

What is a Fan if Not a Mini Wind Turbine?: The Power of Being a Fan in [PRESENT YEAR]
note: this blog post is probably going to be a lot more touchy-feely and a lot less ‘academic’ because i just finished my fandom essay pls let my potato brain give way to my cringe heart for a quick 500 words
I have something difficult to confess: I… like things.
I’m a fan of media and video games and music and movies. I also like talking about the aforementioned things: whether it be The Front Bottoms’ latest singalong folk-punk song about being uncomfortable, Jacob Geller’s recent video essay somehow tying together a 60s alternative song with a 2022 interactive movie about immortality, or a quirky indie game’s pivotal exploration of trauma, I can’t stop myself from shouting about it from my rooftop (metaphorically, not literally, though I’ve come close).
In that sense, it’s kind of nice that the Internet exists. It’s like a neighbourhood where everyone is constantly shouting. All of the time.
Tumblr media
now, not all fandoms are black holes of content, but they do become those, surprisingly often. it's kinda concerning ngl
In my years of being a fan of things, I’ve done many things: I’ve been in Discord servers discussing the finer parts of why Kel from Omori is actually the Most Affectionate Golden Retriever Brick of a character in the entire game; I’ve both read and written fanfiction about my favourite ships and laughed/cried/emotionally reacted to them on both sides of the author-reader divide; I’ve bought actual merch from games and content creators I love (no regrets, easily one of my favourite statement tees I’ve ever bought).
In a more substantive, more objective way of seeing it, through fandom, I’ve been able to interact with so much more people through the lens of fandom. Through being in online fandoms for games like Valorant and Omori, I’ve connected with people around the world over a shared interest that I would have never had the chance to otherwise. In the thriving fanart communities on Twitter, I’ve seen how artists from around the world take the basis of the works they have before them and use it as a springboard for their own ideas, cultures and identities: the sheer depth of intersectional Valorant agent OCs and Pokemon headcanons are a topic due for their own long-form video essay alone. Especially as someone still trying to figure out who or what they are, the positivity and feedback that one can get while exploring identity through the lens of fanfiction and fanart communities (either as viewer, creator, or commenter) can be an enormous source of relief and perspective.
Tumblr media
i'm not aroace, but pretty good example of the uniqueness that the queer half of Valorant's fanbase comes up with as OCs!
In short, I feel fandom has been a pretty good part of my life for a pretty good part of my life. Of course, not everything is perfect: toxicity exists as in any online community, and bad actors are always a concern in an anonymised setting. These concerns aside, I find it easy to say that fandom in many different communities has played a substantial part in making me who I am today.
Live long and prosper!

Vtubing community is just the worst
Toxic bullshit of people wanting to stay in a little bubble and don't want to have to deal with reality because their life is shit.
Fucking complaining about people brining up a genocide and getting pissy at a black vtubbing awards that was created to give more shout outs and praise to black talent.
But we can't have that because it's filled to the brim with white and light colored ass holes that are beyond immature and want to fucking jack off to oversatured anime girls with white skin big tiddies and no fat.
Fucking hate that community its like Fandom but worse cause it's mixed with fucking idol culture. 🤮

honestly shout out to Marisha fucking Ray who dealt with so much shit during campaign 1 and never once backed down. bc like. it’s not news in the fandom that there are a bunch of misogynists in the early chat and comments sections. that’s like one of the first things I learned about campaign 1. people post warnings in the comments of those early G&S videos. it’s common knowledge: here there be assholes, and a ton of them are going after Marisha/Keyleth
but then cue Marisha just fucking taking all of it, and never changing how she plays Keyleth, and never changing how she acts around her friends. Marisha who specifically calls out haters in her first Keyleth playlist and who makes an offhand sarcastic remark about how ‘the internet is super welcoming toward women’ in a promo for Signal Boost. Marisha fucking Ray who says in her BtS interview that she could take the hate as long as it didn’t hurt anyone else. that it wasn’t being on the receiving end that bothered her the most--it was seeing other women hurt and afraid and turned off from nerd culture
Marisha Ray who took everything that toxic internet, nerd, and fandom culture threw at her and threw it right back because she knew that there were other women and girls out there watching her, and if she doesn’t back down maybe they’ll see that they never have to, either
that takes courage and strength and dignity and style and deep, deep compassion, and I’m blown away by her every step of the way

if you are still doing the character ask and are willing to do this one: Snape?
Of course!! I'm always down for answer old ask memes (and something I reblogged last night isn't old) :D :D
and yissss Snape!
one aspect about them i love: His whole fucking character arc?? But mostly that he represents my favourite thing in fiction which is redemption arcs that don't centre niceness, but rather the goodness/rightness of the actions taken. Because Snape is a nasty piece of work (one of the many reasons I love him), but he also was someone who was trying so hard to do the right thing. Not perfect, by any means (though which of us is? I'll wait), but his arc is one that I really appreciate and honestly, JKR didn't know what she had with him and his role within the narrative.
one aspect i wish more people understood about them: mostly the above, honestly. Also the complexity of his situation when he was a kid and young man - the poor kid in a rich kid's game, the family problems at home, being bullied at school, definitely not fitting into the typical English or wizarding world embodiment of masculinity, the desire to be loved and fit in and not knowing how to go about that because it was never modelled in a healthy manner for him - it's all a disaster in the making. The HP fandom is a pretty messy, toxic place that I don't engage in because I love myself too much, but it seems that outside of a niche area of people who understand his character, this seems to be missed. Which is a shame because it means missing a lot of who he is and understanding the nuance of his character.
one (or more) headcanon(s) i have about this character: aside from the fact that he lived and is in a weirdo ménage a trois with the Malfoys? I headcanon that he for sure has a soft spot for muggle pop culture - something he tells absolutely NO ONE. But he has like posters of Rocky Horror Picture Show, Carrie, Sleepaway Camp, the Exorcist, Amityville Horror etc. (and he is for sure a horror movie buff but also enjoys stupid campy shit). He also has figurines/swag from the films and book series he was into when he was young. Less so as an adult, though he still stays in touch with muggle media and has a secret netflix and crave account.
He definitely prefers vinyl to anything else (cassette/cd/digital) for the tactile nature more than sound-snob stuff. There's a ritual to it and he thrives on ritual.
Smokes. Absolutely smokes. I don't know that he has a brand of choice, but he definitely sneaks out to have a cheeky fag out the back of Hogwarts. McGonagall knows and will sometimes join him.
as well as
one character i love seeing them interact with: Probably Dumbledore. It's such a fraught, messed up relationship and the dynamic has so many layers to it (and layers I don't think JKR was aware of), so anytime they had scenes together in the books it was always weird and intense and nuanced and I love it.
one character i wish they would interact with/interact with more: So, I love his interactions with Lucius and Narcissa for obvious reasons. And I mean his interactions with Lucius are political and Old Boys Club and stuff - they're very what you would expect of them. Narcissa, though, I wish we had more of. (Also in general, wish we got more Cissa). Like, the scene where she goes to beg him to take care of Draco is super interesting. And it's a weird scene, you know? On the surface, no it's not. But the descriptions of their bodies/the physical interactions are different from what you would expect between them. Her weeping on his chest - just the sheer amount of touch that happens between them when in general Snape is a physically isolated character. There's depth and potential there and I wish we saw more of it. (big shout out to @frederick-the-great for pointing out that scene specifically in one of our many conversations on snape)
one (or more) headcanon(s) i have that involve them and one other character: No support at all from the canon for this (or any of my headcanons, let's be real), but he and McGonagall are bitchy bros. They get together, drink excessive amounts of scotch, smoke too many cigarettes, and bitch about EVERYONE. Especially Dumbledore, Fudge, fellow teachers, parents, and everyone on the Hogwarts Board (or whatever it was called). But really, no one is out of range for them.
Someone once suggested a Hogwarts PTA being created and McGonagall and Snape almost burned the place down. Narcissa had to be like "Lucius, go find whoever suggested that and scare them into backing off before Severus commits arson." and Lucius is like "this is my time to shine. I was made to be a scary enforcer and ominously threatening."
As I said above, obviously Lucius, Narcissa and Snape are secretly married and Snape is part of their Reform/Deprogramming Scheme.
Snape is like: we're going to mind map positive things about muggles. And Lucius is like: they invented guns and I'm pretty chuffed about that.
Snape: No. I mean yes. But like. Never mind, we'll roll with it.
Narcissa: that show about the funny people trying to bake.
Snape: Excellent, great British bake off. Yes. Good.
Lucius: No we like the provincial one from the colonies.
Snape: It is not 1720 Lucius. I know you know this. Stop being deliberately obtuse. And I'm assuming the great Canadian bake off?
Lucius: That's the ticket.
But yeah, boy howdy do so many people in the wizarding world need some form of like...de-cult therapy work. Therapy in general. But also deprogramming from a massive, horrifying death cult!
Oh man I love Snape. He's such a minefield of possibility and really, jkr didn't know what she had with him and probably for the best.
Thank you! <3 <3

Rumblings
Alright, I think I'm gonna stay out of any conversation that has to do with the boys' body from now on. It aggravates me.
But i am gonna say I do blame a portion of the fandom for holding them to such high toxic beauty standards.
Tumblr media
I see here a very sexy and beautiful woman. But apparently people sent her death threats for her size.
If music is what they selling why the fuck does their looks matter.
I blame the entire industry and the labels who produce these idols for warping their mentality and creating false standards for these artists to live by. They've brainwashed them into believing their talents aren't enough, that their hardwork isn't enough.
Maybe it's time someone dismantled that whole machinery rather than have these artists conform to it. IT'S EXHAUSTING.
I love that the new up and coming LBGTQ youth in the industry aren't letting the machine control them. Shout out to all the plus size idols who give Zero fucks about the conservatism within Kpop. I stand with them.
And I know people say Male idols have it easy than Female idols but the pressure to me is the same- people just hate women and so that exarcabates it. Cough cough.
Tumblr media
In his case, i don't know if I said it here or somewhere else but right before it was announced he was gonna go for surgery a lot of people had started pointing out how much weight he had been putting on and a few days later Hybe issued a statement on his shoulder injury. Coincidence?
Tumblr media
I don't want to speculate on whether his health issues was what was impacting his weight but I remember feeling very suspicious of Hybe and swore to myself if he came back all skinny and liposuctioned that I was going to start a fight square up hybe.
I can blame the fans all I want but the company is equally to be blamed for putting them on these unnecessary diets.
And i know some said, well they are not westerners and we cannot hold them to the same standards of body issues dysmorphia and diet issues etc.
Soooooooooooo they are Asians so they can't suffer from body dysmorphia???? I'm blinking slowly.
Tumblr media
"After nearly five years of training with Korean entertainment agency WM Entertainment, JinE (full name Shin Hyejin) debuted in 2015 as a member of the impressive rookie act Oh My Girl whose sophomore single, "Closer," was named one of the best K-pop songs of the year by Billboard. While promoting "Closer," JinE shared an initial diagnosis of anorexia.
The petite, 5'3" star shared she lost between 17 to 20 pounds as the group dieted together for promotions -- a common practice among K-pop groups who want to look their best as they appear on cameras and social media at all hours of the day, but also as a response to Korean society's expectations for idols to be thin and attractive. JinE shared that she developed vomiting symptoms and esophagitis, and despite needing hospital care, the singer assured fans she was healthy. 2016 brought three more EP releases and increased visibility for Oh My Girl, but the 22-year-old was indefinitely pulled from promoting with the group after her symptoms returned. Then last month, WM and JinE announced she would leave the group and company, with the star expressing gratitude for the support she received but the desire for a different lifestyle."
There's Jimin who almost went crazy from the abuse and gaslighting she suffered in her band and at the hand of her bandmates.
Don't let me go on to the suicide rights. Being of a different culture don't mean they don't suffer from these things too. If anything i think they suffer the most.
Park JM mentioned how he worked out for two years, lost 7kg after dieting because his body had become too big from all that workout, and how he'd pass out during choreo because he just didn't have the strength to go on.
Yall heard him come to defend Jk when people called him fat because his arms were too big. He told them JK wasn't fat but that it was muscles.
When people criticized JK for the long hair he and one other member jumped to his defense saying he they were gonna grow out their hairs too or something a long those lines.
There's been constant pressure for him to fix his teeth, muscle up and he's not given into that pressure- until recently.
Why he's doing is none of my business. Loose weight gain weight I think that's his prerogative.
Imagine bullying Hoseok out of his own Vlive, asking him to leave the group, calling Namjoon ugly- SO WHAT?? WHAT SHOULD THEY DO ABOUT IT? REALLY WHAT?
People demand a lot from these boys- cut your hair, don't get tattoos, black hair, no pink, no blue, fuck just wear white, gain weight, lose weight, build muscles, don't build muscles- so much so that everything they do they have the fans at the back of their minds.
Imagine being scared to get tattoos because fans will hate you- as Suga warned Kook. Imagine working in an environment where you constantly fear of losing your job and so you beat yourself up at the least mistake and strive for perfection.
Imagine the actual disrespect when you aren't told that your own music will be featured in a big time movie and yet someone had the audacity to slip in here to tell me I was fake loving and not being happy for him.
You almost can tell who is new in here due for a rude awakening and yet they are the loudest.
Personally, I think they are all beautiful just the way they are. Fuck Kpop I'm busting my faves out if I can.
To answer your question, I think Suga has a lot on his hands to fuss over how perfect his hair hangs over his forehead. I'm more grateful he came back to us as quickly as he did after Surgery. I won't attribute any changes in him to his Surgery because then that leaves no room for him to be human and deal with fluctuating body weights etc.
We shouldn't expect perfection from them all the time. Especially as sometimes the makeup they wear changes, lighting and all these other elements that come together to create an illusion of a perfect idol changes.
So to you they might not look as nice as compared to before in a moment when in reality all that has changed is their makeup application technique.
As far as their looks go, they could look like 7 fat thors and I would still think they are revolutionary
Tumblr media
It's 2021, a lot of barriers are being broken, new standards of beauty are being set, people are embracing themselves and loving themselves. Let's pay it forward.
Here's dark Tae to lighten up your day
Tumblr media
I see Jimin and JK aren't the only ones into lip rings😏 hashtag Vminkook.
I think I've answered a lot of questions today. I'm gonna take a break now.
Also I've been meaning to say this, thank you to anyone who was there for me when i was going through stuff. Means a lot to me☺💜

me and your girlfriend (fred weasley x f! reader)
summary: You're tired of waiting around for Fred to get his act together while he parades other girls around you, so you try to move on. Fred is unreasonably upset by this and tries his darndest to scare your new boyfriend off.
wc: 3063
warning(s): 18+ (not smut, but several mentions of sex), jealously, lowkey toxic relationship (don’t worry, it mostly gets resolved in the end)
a/n: this is my first HP fic I’ve written since I was like 8 years old so I am so sorry if you stumble upon this. Also, I noticed that most of the writing perspective is third person using y/n but the last fandom I wrote for, almost everyone wrote in second person, so I’m in the habit now. I’ll try to change that in the future.

“George, Georgie!!!” You called as you ran into the Gryffindor boys’ bedroom.
“Yeah?” George responded, looking up from his trunk of clothes.
“You will never guess what happened earlier!”
“Moody’s coffee had a hair growth potion in it. That was me.” He told you smugly.
You rolled your eyes. “Not that. That wasn’t nearly your best prank. You’ve been slacking, Weasley.” You slapped your friend on the back.
“Fred’s been distracted. He’s been with a new girl named… hmm what was it… Natalie? Natalia? It’s hard to keep track.” George explained, not trying too hard to disguise his dismay in his brother for slacking when it came to pranks.
“I can’t believe there’s another one. He just met someone else last week. And now there’s her too…” Your words trailed off. You really didn’t want to sound jealous but it was hard not to. George knew your feelings for Fred, Fred knew, Hell, Natalie (or Natalia) probably knew. It wasn’t really a secret.
George, wanting to relieve your discomfort, tried changing the subject. “So what was it that I can’t believe?”
“Lloyd Baker asked me out! He picked me flowers and everything.”
George let out a whistle. “Heard he’s a catch within the Ravenclaw house. He suits you. Kind and smart and-“
“And not Fred.” You finished your friend’s sentence for him.
“That’s not what I was going to say but yeah. I know you care about him but he’s being an ass to you. I think it’s good for you to explore your options. Don’t tell him I said that, though. Don’t fancy getting my ass beat.” George patted you on the shoulder.
You nodded. “I just hope I can get over Fred so this relationship can be healthy. Lloyd is great but I’m not even sure if I like him. I don’t really have eyes for anyone but Fred. You know that.”
“Fake it until you make it.” George shrugged.
George may not have had a problem with you being semi-fake in your new relationship but you sure did. Lloyd was a nice guy and you didn’t want to hurt him in an attempt to get over Fred. But you’d already agreed to go out so you supposed you’d take it as you went.
The next week went by like a fairytale. Lloyd walked you to every class, brought you sweets when you were craving them, and listened attentively to every word you said. You were starting to think that this was actually going to work out.
Spending all this time with your new boyfriend meant that you weren’t seeing your friends very often. You weren’t planning on that becoming commonplace, but you thought it wasn’t that weird to spend most of your time with your boyfriend considering this was all so new. You still saw your friends at least a couple of times a day, talking to Lee, Angelina, or George in passing. You saw very little of Fred, which was a little odd. The two times you saw him over the course of the week, however, he winked when he caught your eye before quickly scurrying off. You were convinced that Fred was trying to make this as hard on you as possible.
It was the weekend and you had decided it was time for your friends to officially meet your boyfriend. You weren’t really worried about what Lee, Angelina, Alicia, or George would think. The tall, kind faced boy was a perfect match for you, at least on paper. You were a little scared to think what Fred might do, though. Although to your understanding, he was bringing Nadine (you had been wrong about her name this whole time) to this Hogsmeade's meetup so he didn’t have any right to step out of line when he met Lloyd.
You squeezed Lloyd’s hand before walking into The Three Broomsticks.
“You okay?” You asked him.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?” He looked at you quizzically.
Oh, ok. He wasn’t nervous at all. So you were the only one that’s heartbeat was out of control. You weren’t the one that should be nervous, but for some reason you still were. Well, you knew the reason. Your stupid bastard best friend Fred Weasley.
You two stepped through the doors of the establishment. “I need to go to the bathroom real quick before we get started. You’ll be alright, yeah?” You looked up at your boyfriend, searching for any sign of unease.
“Yeah. I’ll just look around and when you come back you can introduce me to your friends.” He flashed you a dazzling smile and you skipped off to the bathroom. Little did you know, that was a huge mistake.
Fred had not taken his eyes off of you since you had walked in. Everyone else at the table felt uncomfortable, knowing from Fred’s scowl that he was about to make a scene. Nadine tried desperately to try to get her date’s attention, but he just waved her off.
“In a minute, love.” He faltered at the term of endearment. It felt forced.
He didn’t even know why he had invited Nadine to The Three Broomsticks. He had been seeing red ever since George had first informed him that you were seeing Lloyd. The Gryffindor boys would have been deaf to not hear the shouting match that occurred in the boys’ bedroom the night that he had been told. Fred was mad that George encouraged you to date Lloyd and George was mad that Fred had been such a dick to you lately, parading girls around like you two didn’t have a “thing”. He guessed that he had invited Nadine along today in an attempt to one up you and make you jealous but he knew that wouldn’t work anymore. You were beyond that point. He would just have to have a word with Lloyd to let him know exactly where Fred stood.
Fred walked over to Lloyd. When Lloyd noticed him, he gave him a warm smile, the likes of which Fred did not reciprocate.
“Fred Weasley. Can’t believe we’ve never met. I mean you must be real important to my bug, but I can’t say I’ve ever even heard her talk about you.” Fred told the boy coldly.
Lloyd shifted back and forth uncomfortably “Your what?”
“My bug. A term of endearment. You wouldn’t understand.”
“It’s cool that you and her are so close, I guess.” Lloyd didn’t know what else to say.
Fred chuckled at Lloyd’s visible uncomfortableness, not saying anything else for a moment before getting a wickedly awful yet brilliant (in his mind) idea. An idea to make sure Lloyd got the message that you were meant to be Fred’s, not some heartthrob Ravenclaw prat’s.
“Say Lloyd, did you know that my dad works for the Ministry? He works in proximity to Muggle culture. So I know all about Muggles.”
“Okay…” Lloyd responded, unsure of where Fred was going with this.
“Wanna know my favorite Muggle song at the moment?”
Lloyd nodded, desperate to ease the tension.
“It’s called Slumber Party by some girl named Ashnikko. My favorite lyrics are,” Fred accentuated what he said next, not keeping a melodious tune but rather just speaking as if he was informing Lloyd of something, “Me and your girlfriend playin' dress up at my house. I gave your girlfriend cunnilingus on my couch.” He gave a sickly smile when he finished what he was saying.
It didn’t take a genius to understand what Fred was getting at. Lloyd immediately understood. Why the Hell would you start dating him when you were so clearly involved with Fred?!? Lloyd didn’t know quite what to say.
“I- what?”
“Thought Ravenclaw’s were supposed to be smart,” Fred snorted. “One word from me and she’ll be leaving you in the dust. Trust me, mate.” Fred’s eyes grew huge as he heard you exiting the restroom and he ran over to where he had been sitting before and put his arm around Nadine like nothing had happened. Everyone at the table had heard the discussion and looked at Fred in shock, besides George who glared at him with disgust.
“Okay I’m back!” You grabbed Lloyd’s arm and were surprised when he pulled away from you a bit.
“What’s wrong?” You asked him.
“Nothing.” Lloyd lied straight through his teeth.
“Okay…” You replied, uneasy. Nevertheless, you guided him over to the table where your friends were seated.
“Lloyd these are my friends. Angelina, my best girl friend. The Gryffindor team captain and the best Chaser I’ve ever met.” Angelina beamed at the words. “Lee, he’s annoying but he’s hopelessly in love with me so he gets to stay.” Lee choked on his drink before flicking you off. “Alicia, best giver of advice in the universe.” Alicia gave a small smile and a wave at Lloyd. “This is Nadine, I don’t know her very well but she’s a very sweet girl.” Nadine nodded and thanked you for your kind words. “And my best friends since first year, Fred and George.”
“The very best!” Fred beamed and you smiled at him. You were glad he was taking this so well. Maybe it was for the best that you both moved on, not that you were too sure if he had ever properly fancied you in the first place.
“I wish you could meet Oliver but he’s long gone now. We’re still super tight, though.”
“Yep, she’s super tight… with Oliver” Fred stared directly at Lloyd, who was looking at him, mortified.
The crude joke, however, went straight over your head and you just smiled at Fred. You couldn’t help the butterflies you felt in your stomach when you looked at him but you still tried to push them aside. You were blissfully unaware of the air of discomfort around the table. Fred and you practically ignored the others for two hours while you talked about anything and everything under the sun.
“I think it’s time for us to go.” Lloyd suddenly announced, pulling you two out of a Quidditch discussion.
“Aww really? Already?” You pouted at Lloyd but he just looked at you stonefaced. You had no idea what you were thinking but it couldn’t be good.
“Don’t worry, we can continue this discussion tonight, bug!” Fred told you, winking. You winked back at him playfully, not even noticing that Lloyd had let go of your hand entirely and Nadine had removed Fred’s arm from her shoulders.
“Ok, see you in the common room then!”
“The common room. Sure.” Fred said sarcastically. You found yourself confused, not understanding what he meant. But the words had hit exactly who they were meant for.
Lloyd practically dragged you outside and began walking swiftly back towards Hogwarts. You kept asking him what was wrong but he wouldn’t answer you. He speed walked all the way back to the castle, with you trying your best to keep up with him. Once you reached the gardens, he finally let everything he had been feeling go.
“Why are you going out with me when you’re so obviously with Fred?” he huffed.
“I’m not. Fred’s with Nadine.” You told him, very puzzled. But deep down, you still felt caught. Maybe he had caught on that you had feelings for Fred, even though those feelings were unreciprocated, or at least if there were feelings on Fred’s part, he wasn’t taking it very seriously.
“Yeah, right. That’s not what Fred said.”
“What are you talking about? Fred didn’t say anything to you.”
“Yes he did. While you were in the bathroom. He basically said that you two had a wild sex life and if he asked you to, you’d immediately drop me. And and-“ Lloyd ran out of things to say but he continued huffing and puffing.
“I have never slept with Fred.” You scoffed, ignoring the last part of Lloyd’s sentiment because you knew it was true.
“So he’s never eaten you out? Because he said that. Or at least strongly indicated it. And his comment about you being tight...” Lloyd’s eyes pleaded for you to tell the truth.
“No! I’ve never done that with anyone, promise. I haven’t done anything with him besides kiss him.” You were telling the truth, but Lloyd seemed dismayed that you had even kissed the boy before.
“Why’d you kiss him? Doesn’t seem like something that people who are just friends do.”
“I don’t know. I was just bummed out that I had never kissed anyone before. It wasn’t a big deal. And that was forever ago.”
Lloyd seemed slightly put at ease by that sentiment.
“So you haven’t kissed him in a really long time, then? And he’s just being an ass for no reason?”
“Being an ass for no reason? Yes. And I’ll talk to him about it. He’s totally crossed a line. I can’t just not be friends with him but he can’t say shit like that. But uh, the years ago thing, that was just the first time we kissed. Uhhh it’s been more than once.” You faltered, looking down at your shoes.
“So when was the last time?” Lloyd demanded.
“When did you ask me out?”
“Last Friday.”
“Errr that Thursday night then. But I haven’t done it since. I would never cheat.” You said honestly.
“Seriously? Look, you’re a nice girl and all but you clearly have an unresolved relationship with your friend and it’s just not healthy for me or you,” And so it went. You knew by his words that he was breaking up with you. You knew he was right but you were still royally pissed at Fred for ruining everything. “I could tell you’re in love with him just by the way you spoke to him today. And he-well he certainly feels something for you.”
“A possessive bugger, he is.” You agreed, trying to remain as lighthearted as you could while you fought back tears. You should just face it, you were never going to get over Fred Weasley.
“I’m sorry. I really am. But this is all too much of a mess for me. I’m sure you understand. I umm,,, I wish the best for you.” Lloyd said awkwardly before disappearing into the castle. And just like that, your first proper (albeit short) relationship had ended.
You ran to the Gryffindor girls’ bedroom to find Angelina, tears streaming down your face (the tears not so much because of being broke up with but because of the fact that apparently Fred thought it was appropriate to dictate your dating life while he could screw the whole school). Of course, Angelina wasn’t there. She was probably still at Hogsmeade. You needed to talk to somebody. You could probably confide in Hermione if you really needed to but she was in a fight with Ron and you didn’t want to add any more bad energy to her life at the moment. And Ginny, well you were afraid she might slaughter Fred.
Hoping that George had happened to walk back before the others, you called into the Gryffindor boys’ room.
“George? Are you in there?” You sniffled.
“Come in, love.” Your heart sank. It was Fred, not George.
“I don’t want to speak to you right now.” You told him coldly, walking into the room anyway.
“So you heard about my little stunt then?” He chuckled before looking over at your tear stained face. “No, bug, come here.” He grabbed you into a hug and you immediately started crying harder and pushing against him. He was stronger than you and wasn’t letting you go, however.
“I hate you, I really do. I know you’re going to say I don’t mean that but I do.” You cried, hiccupping at the end.
“But you don’t mean it. I’m sorry.” He kissed your forehead.
“Don’t do that, damn it!” You rubbed your hand over your forehead in an attempt to undo the action. “Why did you say all that to Lloyd today?”
“I was jealous.” He admitted.
“And you don’t think I’m jealous of Nadine?” You asked angrily. What was with Fred and his double standards?
“Don’t worry about that. I broke it off with her. She wasn’t too happy with me, anyway. I shouldn’t have even brought her today. I was just trying to one up you. But it just hurt everyone involved.”
“You breaking up with her doesn’t make everything better. It definitely doesn’t mean we’re going to go back to the way we were before.” You tried to break away from him again and this time you were successful.
“I don’t want things to be the way they were before.” Fred said quietly. You weren’t even sure you heard him right.
“What?” You asked, feeling a jab at your heart. You had just said that it wasn’t going to be like that anymore but hearing that he didn’t even want you anymore hurt profusely.
“I want it to be more than that. I know it’s gonna take a while to get there. I’ve really shown my ass.” He hung his head low.
“And not in a good way.” You giggled.
“See, that’s my girl!” He smiled.
“Don’t think that gets you out of hot water, Weasley.”
“‘Course not. I’ve been a proper idiot. But I’ll make it up to you over time.” Maybe against your better judgment, you let him kiss you. “I was scared for some reason.” He continued.
“Scared?”
“Yeah. Felt suffocated. I don’t want to end up just like my parents. Meeting someone so young and never experiencing anything else and getting a boring old job and doing that for the rest of my life. But I was focused on the wrong stuff. I can make my life different in so many different ways than going through a fuckboy phase. I really care about you, you know? And I want to be with you.”
“We’ll figure this out. Besides, I hate seeing you be so heavy with stuff. Where’s the silly boy I love?”
“You love?” Fred cocked an eyebrow and smiled wide.
“Oh come on, it’s just a phrase.”
“I think you’re psychologically trying to tell yourself that you love me.” He squeezed you and kissed your cheek. “Can’t wait to be with you good and proper.”
“One rule: don’t tell everyone about our sex life. We don’t even have one yet and you’re already telling people about it.”
“Noted.”
