Sometimes I don’t understand why a fandom has decided to create a popular side ship out of whole cloth and like two onscreen interactions (sorry xicheng shippers).

But I absolutely respect the thought process behind seeing scorpion king, the poorest of meow meows, and his whole….deal with zhao jing and simply giving him a different less evil old man to work out his freudian issues on. You can take the xie-er out of his fucked up sugar daddy relationship but you can’t take the daddy kink out of the xie-er, etc.

it FUCKS ME UP that THE ONE THING that displays GROWTH and a better life and a reaching of a dream for these characters is ALSO THE VERY SAME THING that MAKES THE RED WEDDING POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!! how dare!!!!!!!!! like, zzs started out wanting to make better decisions if he has the opportunity and to give people second chances if within his power, do good over more violence (result: a-xiang and cwn die, the valley is massacred). wkx wants nice things for his sister after finally reaching a point in his life where he can safely display his affection and invest in a good future (result: his sister dies in his arms trying and failing to avenge her would-be husband, in her bridal clothes, and the place he wanted to transform is massacred). a-xiang spends most of the show jumpy and prickly, accusing people of the worst. in truth, she wants a life where she can trust that someone has her best interest at heart, even if things are uncertain. (result: her husband gets killed in front of her, she avenges him in a suicide mission and fails, her family get massacred with wkx almost killing himself over achieving her last wish). i mean, theyve all fought so badly for love and hope, to reach a point where they can put the worst behind them! and its exactly this wish to make a change, do smth different than before, that KILLS THEM!!!!!!!!!!!! its evil

So ZZS can really pull a 'Back in my day we were overthrowing the government at your age' on ZCL if you think about it

god so in episode 16 when wkx is like

wkx is like oh shit and immediately looks over to ah xu to see if he's overstepped bc obvs at this point zzs doesn't know (+ honestly it feels to me more like he was speaking out of him perceiving them as a family in the present rather than because of the formal sect connection/the few days they spent together as kids)

and zzs meets his eyes, then just snorts and smiles which just. og my hod,. he pretty much ackoweldges in front of his senior that jtheyre MARRIed, theyre a fAMILY, 

meanwhile yby: wait a sec, these bitches gay?

Kind of emotional that the first time we see zzs properly eat is when yby delivers news about being able to heal him, and the first time it’s actually in focus in this scene is after he looks at wkx and acknowledges that “earlier [before our current circumstances] I didn’t want to live.” 

I love that ye baiyi is introduced like all characters with a little onscreen text of his name and title, and then the five lakes guys try to greet him like ‘hello mr. Sword Immortal sir’ and he’s like ‘who are you talking to. couldn’t be me.’ Very bitchy of him. Really sets the perfect tone for his character.
