People always said Jinyoung hurt b1a4 but what if Jinyoung also feel hurt towards b1a4 and wm. He was so confident said he still b1a4 members, he was so confident that b1a4 can comeback together as 5 but then b1a4 started unfollow him, even the three also unfollow him. b1a4 and wm started to ignoring Jinyoung "presence". They act like they don't know who is Jinyoung 💔

I mean, I've spoken enough about my feelings and why I feel that way, and  a lot of us here have always felt similarly. I think there are legitimate reasons why we feel more inclined in thinking that way towards Jinyoung vs. B1A4. 

So normally I’d just link back to all my other asks about it, but since I don’t think I ever summarized everything into one ask I’ll do so below, to just give an idea of why you see more people say that about him.

I mean, up until their last comeback, he was still reassuring fans that BANAs did not have to worry about the ‘7 year jinx’, which clearly was not the case since he left lol. And him leaving was fine, he’s allowed to leave the group. But it would have been nice if he wasn’t maybe so outwardly vocal about B1A4 staying as 5...

...which brings me to the next point. Despite this, I’ve also always said that I can understand why Jinyoung felt the need to keep talking like this. I’m sure he felt trapped and didn’t want to make fans upset so early on, particularly if he wasn’t 100% sure at that point if he was definitely going to leave. But, it is clear that by the time he did know he wanted to leave (and proceeded to do so) he clearly did not communicate that with CNU, Sandeul, and Gongchan. And their initial reactions, and what they have come out to say about it following the split, shows a lot of shock, pain, and hurt. And that’s not cool.

Jinyoung clearly had LINK8 in the works for a while, considering how quickly he ‘joined’ the company that seemingly came from no where, as its first and only artist.

Within like, two months of the split, he was already doing solo fanmeets (which let’s not forget, was titled ‘Fly More’, something that definitely seemed to almost hint at B1A4′s old moniker of ‘Let’s Fly’). Not to mention he had his own light sticks for his fanmeets, t-shirts for LINK8 and J.Ground (his own personal studio, already set up), etc.

Jinyoung has made (at least publicly) no attempt at any communication with A3. Now, I know you made a point to bring up about A3 and WM ignoring Jinyoung, but at the end of the day, he’s the one that left lol... and seemingly under not so transparent circumstances. So I’d argue that it would be more expected for him to rebuild that bridge. But instead, we see him seeing other friends off to their military service, getting food trucks for his other colleagues or friends he’s worked with, etc. Baro, on the other hand, we have at least seen show some support to the members’ instagrams, and with comeback related posts.

Jinyoung himself has also flat out said that he’d do a reunion, but because it would be what the fans want. Which, idk, you’d think if he was that confident as you say, he would also mention maybe because it’s something he would want as well? Not just something to appease the fans?

And to me, the most recent and honestly most damning thing that really seems to go against the  whole ‘oh Jinyoung still wants to be in B1A4′ is the fact that at some point fairly recently, he deleted his instagram post he originally made right after the split was announced. Why would he take down a post where he mentioned about fans keeping their faith in B1A4 promoting as 5 and how someday B1A4 would come back to them as 5 if he truly still believed that? Or wanted it?

There’s certainly more than just these particular examples, but I think some things may start to bleed into more opinion territory and I do want to try and avoid that. 

But basically, I don’t believe at this point in time, Jinyoung is particularly concerned in ever promoting back with B1A4 given the above points. And I don’t think A3 particularly care anymore, either. I think enough time has passed now (I mean, it has been 4 years!) that both parties are doing fine going their separate directions. And I think that’s the most important thing-- that B1A4, Jinyoung (and Baro!) are at peace and happy with where they are now.

When is b1a4 contract ending again?

As far as I think we know at this point, all of their contracts end at different times. CNU's was originally set to go until the end of this month since he hadn't originally extended while he was in the army like Gongchan and Sandeul did at that time. Gongchan and Sandeul's extension then was supposed to go until June of 2024, though there was talk that with Sandeul then serving for much of that time, it basically puts his contract on pause meaning it wouldn't actually be done until March of 2026.

Honestly though, I haven't heard any new updates about this, because I'm assuming CNU renewed at this point, unless there's a way Sandeul and Gongchan can break their contracts.

(@rexosaurusrex have you heard anything new regarding renewals??? I feel like it's been very quiet...)

Ugh gosh there is just so many good performances of theirs-- they are really just such a magnetic, talented group whether it be as 5 or 3. But anyways, I wound up selecting 10 lol (hope you don't mind) that I really like, because I also wanted to include some solo stages in there as well! So just in chronological order:

Gongchan Solo, Smile from B1A4 Amazing Store, 201308: I think Gongchan has always been overlooked on his vocals. And I’ll make it clear, he certainly isn’t anywhere near Sandeul’s level. BUT, he has a very nice tone, and can actually be quite stable and powerful. You can tell as he begins singing the first verse he is nervous, but as he get’s through the first chorus he stabilizes and you can actually appreciate his vocals! And to think this was from so long ago, and he still struggled so much for years afterwards about his confidence. Ugh, such a shame but I’m glad he’s gotten more confident over the last couple years.

What's Going On? from KMF 20131231: This is such a fun rendition of this song, love the rock vibe, the stage outfits, CNU’s ENTIRE VIBE UGH (also Baro somehow pulled off the fuzzy coat as well-- so props for that)

Road, from The Class Concert, 201402: yes shocking, my favorite song of theirs from my favorite album from my favorite concert makes an appearance on this list. I mean, how much more can I gush about this song than I already have over the last 10 years lol. It’s emotional, it’s nostalgic, it’s beautiful. And them being in tears during this rendition just makes it all the more important to me.

This Time is Over, from Listen to the B1A4 Concert 201404: Such an angsty song, and this rendition in particular with that extended opening and Sandeul’s vocals makes it even MORE emo lol. I love basically all of their performances of this song, but this has to be my favorite. The instrumental arrangement is also terrific and don’t even get me started on the fire balls that erupt from the stage during the climax lmao

Sandeul Solo, Emergency Room from King of Masked Singer 20150412: I think this song just... idk, encapsulates all his strengths as a singer? It shows is range, is ability to be both breathy and powerful, his runs at the end OMG THE END *chefs kiss* just so fucking good. He is just SO good.

Jinyoung Solo, Nothing Better from Sketchbook 20161022: If you go back far enough or search Sketchbook in my tags lol you’ll see I’ve already raved about this cover-- the fact that Jinyoung’s favorite solo stage of mine just happened by chance of Sandeul getting sick and Jinyoung filling in at the last minute just adds to it. I love the rawness, the fact that it isn’t obviously rehearsed, the raspiness to his voice. And like I’ve also mentioned before, Jinyoung’s strength is definitely softness and his falsetto’s, both which are aplenty in this performance.

Last Christmas, from the Show Music Core 20161224: Lmao ok, so more of a light hearted and fun one, but!! I still go back and listen to it every year around the holidays! (aka I’ve already started this week lol). They sound great, their pronunciation is pretty good, and they just seem like they had such a fun time performing it

Lonely from their Live Space Concert 201702: I love this song in every performance, but I appreciate this one particularly because the focus is completely on them singing-- not the dancing or stage outfits, just them. Also it’s one of the best examples of how amazing BANAs are with their fanchants (or in this case, literally just shouting out every lyric lol)

Jinyoung & CNU Duet, Too Much from their Live Space Concert 201702: Shinyoung is dead in a ditch but apparently I’m still a slut for them because this performance is one I still watch with such heart eyes. They both sound fantastic, their voices blend very well together, and them just slowly getting closer as the song progresses ;;;

Starlight’s Song, from The Kolor 20201022: Ok, so I actually love all the performances from The Kolor video as A3, but my favorite performance from this appearance is definitely Starlight’s Song. It’s my second favorite b-side, and I think they do an excellent job here performing it, Gongchan especially filling in Baro’s parts. And Sandeul’s powerful belt during the last chorus is always love~.

what is your dream 2023 comeback concept for bipo?

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE something reminiscent of their 'Tried to Walk' era. Something dark and moody while still being a bit quirky and playful in sound. I think that way, it stays true to their image and sound while also carrying on with the more mature image that I think we're all hoping for lol. I mean, 'Like A Movie' I think checked off a lot of those boxes, except I'd still want something a little bit moodier.

Also I want CNU in navy or like a royal blue colored hair, or Sandeul in a deep purple or merlot colored hair. Gongchan always looks best in black, though seeing a blue/black on him would look good too. Basically I want deep, jewel toned styling with a more mature 'Tried to Walk' vibe and sound. And maybe the MV could be kinda a mystery theme? That's something that they could play up to their strengths and make it campy lol.

For the sound, I love their more melodic title songs (again, like 'Tried to Walk', or 'Lonely'), something impactful and heavy on the instrumentals but with a good strong backing beat.

not sure about the context or accuracy of this but i read on twt that cnu recently talked about how he's been having trouble finding happinness outside of work and how the only times he's been truly happy is when he's on stage performing for fans. it's so sad that they've had to spend so long on hiatus. i hope they get to perform again at least once sandeul returns. cnu did once say he's working on new music. how much do they have left of their contracts and do you think they will renew again?

I admit I haven't been on twitter very much the last two weeks other than to upload his radio guest appearance pics, so I might have missed that but I didn't see any mention of it recently-- though that being said, it is something he's definitely spoken about before. There's been many times over the years (particularly in the few years leading up to their original contract renewals) where CNU would drop hints that he wanted to release more music, that he'd hope they'd comeback soon. At the time we just figured it was WM holding them back (and honestly, it still probably is, just now RBW lol.)

I think he's been working on new music constantly and tbh, I do wonder if at this point he's holding on to it on purpose. Obviously, a lot of things have changed for them since they originally renewed their contracts, and I'd be surprised if any of the boys are happy about it.

As far as their contracts go, CNU's is up this February. Gongchan's is up June of 2024, and I originally thought Sandeul's went to the same date but I think it was @rexosaurusrex who mentioned that Sandeul's time in the military essentially puts a 'pause' on the contract, meaning that he doesn't actually finish his until the beginning of 2026?

Ugh, honestly, I hope they don't renew lol. But to actually answer your question, I think a lot of it depends on 1. What RBW/WM can promise them at this point that would even be believable (since they haven't been getting any good support, promotion, or management) but also 2. At this stage in their idol careers, where else would they go? And like, I don't mean to sound depressing saying that lol but realistically, they are in the settling down phases of their careers. Unless they do something that goes viral, their time in the spotlight has faded. Sandeul, being the most publicly recognized, would probably have the least amount of troubles going to another company but I do worry for CNU (though I could also see him taking on a producer/composer role) and especially Gongchan-- though fingers crossed his new BL drama goes well?

All this to say I do lean towards them not renewing. I just hope though that means they have something better lined up. I do feel confident that they will make their decisions all in agreement with one another, though.

since we are talking about styling. what do you think about like a movie's styling? I didn't like it, I think they should have taken advantage of the name of the song and dressed it as characters from iconic movies. It would have been more fun and creative than the final result in my opinion

Actually that would have been an interesting idea, but I did like their styling! Sure, a lot of the stage outfits were essentially all similar looking (just different colors) but I think the boys looked good in them, they were like regal princely suits lol. Some of the other casual looks were a bit more meh to me (like for example, only Sandeul pulls of those hats in the pic I linked, kinda going back to what I've said before about Sandeul overall just pulling off the more boyish looks) but even so, they're still not that bad. Definitely preferred to how they are being dressed now lmaoo.

Is it possible that disbandment may be a question like the boys don’t use social media anymore and they aren’t active on social media let alone not accepting gifts I got a hunch that someday this group might have their own lives since they don’t accept fans stuff anymore then they might lose a huge group of fans and since they’re not on social media and not traveling to anywhere

I mean, I wouldn't say they aren't active. Gongchan very regularly posts on the fancafe, and they both update their instagrams and twitters often enough. CNU now is also doing weekly lives on Weverse. And they both update on Bubble fairly often too. Obviously Sandeul being in the army can't do this, but that's to be expected.

They aren't going to be as active as a newer 4th gen group, ya know? They're passed that point in their careers where they need to constantly update, and yeah, they do have their own lives now outside of just being 'B1A4'.

I'm not going to sit here and say disbandment is completely impossible because none of us know that lol. But like I said before in your last asks, I think the gift situation could mean anything, so it's difficult to really jump to any conclusion. They still have their core group of fans that will support them regardless of if they can give gifts or not.

In my opinion, I'm sure once all of their contracts are up, they will probably leave WM Ent. But I don't think they'd want to actually disband the group-- I'm sure they'd try to take whatever rights/licenses etc. they could to promote as B1A4 under a new company. Whether this new 'no gift' rule is their first step in beginning to step away from WM, well, we'll just have to wait and see I suppose.

Lol yes!! Looks like the theme is summer for Channie…? Whereas with Shinwoo… I was never really sure? Was it spring? Meadows? Cottagecore but not quite? Schoolboy cottagecore lol that’s not a thing…? All I remember is blue and flowers, but not sure that amounted to a theme 😭 is it bc of the takeover, is no one in charge of them anymore I feel like ‘they’ (whoever ‘they’ are) are just doing enough to get these two by, is that just me am I crazy

yeah the actual promo poster was definitely schoolboy cottagecore-esque, and then the outfits for the actual fanmeet were a strange mix of different suits (which were fine) but that awful pushed down hair. Here's hoping Gongchan's hair is styled nice lmao.

And regarding your last point, I'm really not sure. Like we've all been discussing, there definitely seems to be a shift in the styling overall in the last year or so (probably since after their Origine comeback) where they just seemed to be pushing a much more youthful look. And again, Sandeul has always leaned a bit into that (like they've been periodically putting him in overalls since debut) and Gongchan as the youngest would occasionally get styled that way, but even so, that was predominantly in their earlier years. They all seemed to be dressing more mature the last few years with them as five, and even initially as three so..? What was the change?

Is it the change in staff from the acquisition? Maybe. That sorta lines up, timing wise. And would probably make the most sense.
