An au where Xin Mo used to be human and SQQ’s past life/self used to be close friends with him. Because of some serious drama, they had a huge fight (a battle actually) in which SQQ sealed Xin Mo’s soul into his sword.

So when Xin Mo found SQQ (reincarnated) he influenced LBH’s emotions and amplified his hatred for his shizun to torture and make SQQ suffer the worst to vent out his resentment that has been building up for many years.

What would be even more fun is if Xin Mo and Shen Qingqiu's previous incarnation were lovers. And they had a super super bad breakup.

And that's why Luo Binghe had all that love/hate feelings for his teacher. Those aren't actually his own but the sword's emotions coming through or if they were his own, they were very very small emotions that got amplified by the sword.

YQY rushes home from sealing a heavenly demon (a up to here thought impossible task) because he heard SQQ got a boyfriend and his big brother instinct went into overdrive. SQQ, not willing to admit he sealed his ex into a sword, simply says "what boyfriend? I was at the Warm Red Pavillion all this time."

To be fair, he actually did visit the Warm Red Pavillion if only to get tips on "what to do when your boyfriend turns out to be a yandere".

The ladies didn't exactly say to turn the boyfriend into a sword, but it was strongly implied to hide the body somewhere. Shen Jiu just decided to be pragmatic and make it a usable object like a sword.

Cough aren't there also those yellow books where the sword hilt is used to uh... be inserted there? No matter in what form, his boyfriend can do his boyfriend duty too.

It would be really interesting tho if Xin Mo was a very devoted lover and just super in love with SQQ. Then ah yes, all his love turned into resentment after SQQ’s “betrayal” to him. But I bet SQQ broke up with him for a good reason.

Maybe SQQ noticed Xin Mo becoming more and more obsessive and possessive of him, it became unhealthy so he broke up with him.

Or maybe to make things more tragic, Xin Mo still really loved SQQ, but also hated him because SQQ broke up with him for reasons he can’t understand. Maybe Xin Mo just didn’t realize he was being unhealthily obsessed and thought it was just how love was. Maybe for this au, his reason for becoming obsessed was because SQQ became the light of his dark life?

*cue tragic backstory of Xin Mo who was a sad lonely boi and never had anyone by his side until SQQ*

And ever since then Xin Mo becomes obsessed with being the only one SQQ would ever look at and rely on because if not then Xin Mo might lose SQQ’s affections and become lonely again.

So we have a yandere Xin Mo that might have tried to lock his precious Shen Jiu up because he thinks that Shen Jiu is just too good for this world and there's too many people trying to steal his A-jiu away from him.

Xin Mo likes knowing every single little thing that Shen Jiu did all day, spying upon Shen Jiu or setting up spies that would report back to Xin Mo.

Shen Jiu doesn't appreciate being made into a caged bird in a gilded cage. He likes freedom, so he wants out.

Alternatively, Shen Jiu thinks a good compromise for dealing with Xin Mo's possessiveness is to turn Xin Mo into a sword that Shen Jiu can carry around all day every day. Plus Xin Mo can't talk and embarrass/annoy him with all that possessive talk too.

Pity Xin Mo doesn't agree with that.
